could try and see if you can get a samsung s4 mini, like my other phone,
that is 4 inch and quite small, but less ram and storage space and slower CPU.

I see it lol. But there will probably be galaxy s2 mini
yes this is ancient news whats funny about it...?
1.4Ghz processor... not so funny.
1.4 Ghz single core processor though, not dual core.
its a vicious cycle of iPhone' ish looking phones from samsung...
Is this Samsung answer to Apple's lawsuit?
Surely that image is of the Galaxy Ace?

Just noticed its single core booooo samsung this is basically an overclocked galaxy s
I think the device looks pretty cool. I bought the GSII for its amazing specs and screen, but I'm beginning to think 4.3" is borderline too big. The screen ends up in an inbetween spot where it's still too small to really enjoy video on but too big to be totally comfortable. Not to mention its speed seems wasted since the only thing I've found that it can't do is 1080p software decoding.
A single core hummingbird at 1.4GHz is still fairly quick and 3.7" seems a good size. If it's lighter than the GSII, a similar thickness, and cheaper I can see it being pretty appealing.
Not that I'm going to switch now though, too used to the speed.
Not Galaxy S II mini, but Galaxy S Plus. Same specs, different name. Doesn't make any sense to release two phones with almost same specs.
Just to let you know. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9001_galaxy_s_plus-3908.php
PS: GS+ is official, GS2 mini on the other hand, isn't
Announced or not I still expect them to release a Galaxy S II Mini if only for branding purposes. The GSII has a lot of hype right now while naming something after the original just makes it look old.
Just because the specs are similar doesn't necessarily mean the GSII Mini won't be released. Firstly they have different screen sizes and design which might be enough of a differentiator. Also they may be released in different geographical regions.
Guys, I present to you, what will probably be the closest thing to a Galaxy S2 Mini we'll probably ever get.

A Snapdragon CPU? Strange. Any particular reason they aren't using Hummingbird?
Didn't some region in the world get the original Samsung Galaxy S with an overclocked 1.4GHz Hummingbird proc? Possibly this is using the same proc? I've had a number of friends extremely impressed with my SGS2 but their main concern was the phone being too big so a mini version would have been ideal for that share of the market. If they used the same Exynos proc then it would have been just as quick as well making it an awesome choice.
However, all this is just a rumour so time will tell what actually happens.

What are the options for stock Android?

I think I saw an unofficial Cyanogenmod and AOKP, no Paranoid Android yet? That's my personal favorite. I'm not requesting or trying to come off in that way, I'm just very close to purchasing a tablet and I'd like it if I had those options. So you guys know if any ROM like that are being worked on?
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Free mobile app
There is only one really custom ROM for Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 and it is only for P605 model: Cyanogenmod. That's all, others ROM are based on stocks so I wouldn't expect a huge developer support for this device. :/
Yup. CM looks promising. I hope that it is still around and will make a daily driver, once stock 4.4.2 is mega outdated. Until then i'll stick with that.
Does CM support the stylus in non-Samsung apps with stylus support?
FYI I saw that someone had a "working" CM build on the Tab S 10.5 in their CM11 thread. Tas S 10.5 is exynos and has similar internals to p600..maybe someone can port that over somehow?

Any chance a dev can port these over to the p600? I think the CPU and most of the internals are the same between the tab pro and the note 10.1 2014

The only difference is the pen and the extra 1 gb of ram we have on our model I believe (hardware wise). I don't care so much about CM11 right now since L is around the corner. Hopefully after L comes out, someone would port over CM12 or whatever to the P600.

Samsung usual M.O. (modus operandii) is to bring out the Galaxy Note 10.1 2015ed... It will have the latest stuff and our 2014 ed will be left standing around with its pants around its ankles red with embarrassment...
Anyone remember the Note 10.1 (N800*)?

The thing is that n8000 was not very good from the start, screen was not god at all, processor was good but not that much, battery was meh, plastic body was cheap as it gets. There is not much to do about the note 2014 though; pro tabs came up this year as the premium option for the tablet line and they are almost the same as our beloved tablet, only with amoled display. Maybe an amoled display instead of normal lcd, maybe 64 processor, and i find it difficult they will improve the pen technology; these are the only things i find possible to improve(apart from touchwiz of course).

N8000 was pretty good, yes the screen resolution wasn't super high but the images and video were very good. I get as much battery life out of the N8000 as the P605 and, considering most people get cases, didn't matter much what the body felt like as the leather case felt good anyway...
It could've easily handled the updated Android Samsung release for the P605 but never got anything over ICS (officially)...
Samsung seem to feel it's worth more in profits to release a new tablet, did we need the pro series, than to update existing hardware. Where is the financial advantage of keeping the older stuff up to date?
As for improving the pen technology, they did just that with the Note 4. Has better pressure sensitivity and writing ability than the Note 3. Anything else they'd do is really software improvements.
64 processor and 5gb of RAM would be nice though....

Hey, with that I completely agree; what i didn't agree on was on the "standing around with its pants around its ankles red with embarrassment" part. Far from the internals which are pretty good on both n8000 and p600, pretty much everything from n8000 externally could have been better and I dont think that is the case with the p600. Sure, you can upgrade the pen, the cpu to 64 bits and change lcd for amoled, but those are bells and whisles for the average user we know it has not much impact for the usability overall(like the comparison you make between n8000 and p605); damn, even if anyone takes a look at those pro tabs it is difficult to differentiate it from ours and they are the premium suite right now(contrast to 2013 like our tab was). My point is, even if Samsung decides to do a new Galaxy Note, which it will because its an allmost 2 year old tab, and with the addons we discussed, we cant possibly end up in embararassment as the n8000 did with all its superfluous flaws; even more, if, as you say, Samsung is interested in business more than its interested in the best and inovative technologies I think it will be the kind of jump galaxy s3 did to s4 and a lot of advertisement; if you dont have it in your hand and examine it a little bit most people wont see the difference.
And, n8010 got 4.4 before my p600 officially, so there is that. I bet they just decided not to use the new Touchwiz because Touchwiz is the less optimized crap and not because the internals coultdn't handle it becuase, as you said, n8000 internals are pretty good.

Just my opinion: if you're looking for a stock android option I'd go for another tablet. The note is a great product but only if you need and use the stylus. And you will probably lose at least some pen functionality with cm so I'd say it's not worth it.
Yea I'm starting to get the feeling this isn't the tablet for me. I'll just wait a few weeks for Nexus 9 then. Thanks guys.

CM11 knows nothing about the pen. But will in-app pen support work, for the handful of apps besides the then missing Samsung ones.

Pen detection with preasure sensitivity and attachment-detachment detection on the tablet still work under cm, or at least they worked on the n8000 note running cm. With those functions working, everything else is a gimmick. Multiwindow can be done with xposed and roms like omni rom, and I bet it would be a much more responsive multitasking. Omnirom works on my acer a500 for gods sake; now imagine a tablet with tegra 2 running today's Touchwiz. (Its Haloween time and we are supposed to think about ugly things). The only downside, or upside as I see it, are the gestures framework that on Touchwiz works anywhere on your tab; features like selecting anything and exporting it as an image or clicking the pen button and double tapping to open "Action Memo" wouldn't be on CM. Because of this though, pen button actually works according to the app using it. An example is Papyrus that gives you the option to change tools when the pen button is clicked. With this in mind, I would say it is worth it; Will we see it, I am not sure anymore. :crying:

Still, if you want anything with stock android, samsung is the worst company to buy from.
If you want some recomendations I say the following:
Shield tablet is a nice 8 inch tablet with 64bit processor and a passive stylus technology(It has stylus but it is not as good as Spen).
Surface 3 is a nice and expencive windows tablet if you are into that(Stylus as good as SPen but with the ups and downs from windows; Also $$$$).
Nexus 9 is an expensive but well worth it, gorgeous tablet but with no known pen functionality.(No directstylus 2.0 technology that we know of; but nexus and good speakers).
Please, if anyone have comments on this suggestions let me know. I love to hear about new tablets, functions and if feature's live to their names.

I don't think there will be any active version for this one. Usually active version comes out only for S series. Although S6 Edge+ looks like S series but its pretty much a Note 5 without the stylus and added edge...
The 128 GB version that was speculated earlier was confirmed to be incorrect. Even the dual sim version doesn't support any kind of SD Cards. Personally, I don't think they are going to release any 128 gig variant before March (S7 release) or the folks who invested in 64 gigs grudgingly would go mad!
Also, Note 5 is definitely an upgrade over Note 4. Ofcourse there are drawbacks, however, performance is way better with its new SOC, RAM and UFS.20. Its just that, may be spending $900 isn't worth the upgrade if you're on Note 4 or above.
Hope that helps:good:

I actually disagree. It depends what you prefer and what your needs are obviously, but I've noticed a nice upgrade over my regular S6. Granted it wasn't an Edge, but those phones were the same other than the curved glass and 50mah in battery capacity.
I brought up preference because I prefer larger screens but never used the S-Pen on the Note series and I didn't want all that extra software installed. So this oversized S series phone fit the bill perfectly.
As for tangible upgrades that I've noticed right away is the phone is faster than my S6 and the battery life is MUCH better. I know it's the same cpu (soc), but I'm guessing the extra GB of ram and more software tweaks must have helped. Because it's noticeable to me. And the 3,000mah battery with more tweaks did the trick. I've noticed a large increase in battery life.
All in all, it was a very nice upgrade. Not to mention that this gold platinum color is easily the best color I have ever seen on a smartphone. This phone is absolutely stunning.
Those are just my opinions and thoughts.

I know its about preferences. I was actually assuming that if the person bought S6 Edge, he might be okay with 5 inch display aswell (unlike some of us ). Also, the battery life improved for sure since the battery capacity has increased but the screen resolution is same. And there is DDR4 RAM which uses significantly less power. Same goes for the new screen which is like 32% more power efficient than the previous one. I was just suggesting bcoz he just bought a phone like 5 months back and if he waits for another 7, he might get a better version of all this (since he doesn't mind the smaller display)... :cyclops: All in all, I know Sammy made a significant progress with the new flagships and I've already put my money on that...

I'm disappointed about the lack of IR blaster.
Of course my Nexus 6 doesn't have it either.
The N6 feels like a big slab in my hand.
The 6E+ OTOH, does not!
Very comfortable and I got used to it in a few minutes.
After an hour I picked up my S6 Edge and it felt TINY like picking up and iphone 5S after using a 6+!
I have an otterbox symmetry, don't care for it. Doesn't wrap the phone and feel like part of the phone like the one on my S6 Edge. And the power button is hard to push, like I have to squeeze the hell out of it. Should not be like that, the Symmetry is supposed to be thinner like Speck-ish thin or similar.
Can't wait for Diztronic. They're my favorite thin TPU!

Coz it has 5 mp front camera and the main thing is it will get lollipop official update...

I know that S3 Neo, unfortunately, will not get lollipop official update, but in terms of performance, would be a good choice or not?
I have not used any of the two models, but I want to give a smartphone as a gift to my wife and I want to make the best possible choice.
There are too few comparative tests on the internet to make me a general idea ...
The performance justifies the price difference?

Instead of A3, you can go for J7. If you are looking for samsung phone under 15000 rs then you definitely go for J7. That will be much better phone in terms of configuration, camera & OS....

S3 still yhe better phone. Great display, perfect unofficial development and more. A3 is with smaller body and lower resolution. Lollipop isn't something increadible. S3 9301 is with better rear camera and with removable battery. 9301 is perfect phone!
check this http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-Galaxy-A3,Samsung-Galaxy-S3-Neo/phones/8932,8584
Personally between those two, I'd go for the A3 if just for the build quality. Plus, there are way more color options to choose from.
I've chosen S3 Neo

A7 is slightly smaller and signficantly thinner but heavier, uses AMOLED instead of IPS. Other differences are Quick Charge, OS (TouchWiz vs nearly stock), and independent SIMs and microSD slots for the G4.
Performance will probably more or less the same. G4 also boasts one of the best camera out there but A7's no slough either.
For me custom ROM like Cyanogen is important so most Samsung phones are not for me.
