Hi
Anyone else having trouble with Google Voice Search crashing the system and causing it to reboot?
I find after an hour or so, Voice Search stops working as it has turned/toggled off in Google settings.
When I toggle it back on, it causes the system to crash and the phone reboots.
Working fine for me. Did you try cache and data clear?
Yep, sure did.
I've gone back to using the built in Launcher and now it works fine.
what launcher were you using previously? Using Nova here with no problems

I was using Nova at first, then Evie launcher, but both gave the same issue.
I think I may have pinned it down to me using the whitelist app to make Google full screen?

hmm, do you have anything else modified? I didn't use the app, I white listed everything via ADB commands so theoretically, I should have the same issue

hmmm, this is definitely a weird one. Are you using the smart lock voice feature by chance? I know some folks were having issues with Smart Lock. Just wondering if this is somehow related

No not using smart lock.
It is strange? It's been fine all day today using Launcher3.
Ive tried running the phone in safe mode and all is fine, but using a third party launcher seems to break Voice Search within an hour or so after rebooting.
I can live with the inbuilt launcher for now. Maybe on the next firmware update it will fix the issue?

I've set up the launcher, but when I set up direct dial on the desktop, it keeps telling that it can't launch action. Does anyone else have this issue and is there a fix for it

I just tested it for you and I had no problem with it. Try restarting Apex?
Tried restarting, uniinstalling the at and reinstalling, still doesn't work
I really don't think this matters, but I'll throw it out there...I am rooted, but other than that here is what I did. I long pressed on the desktop, selected Shortcuts and then Direct dial, then selected a contact. It created a contact on my desktop, I clicked it and it dialed it. I have to assume these are the steps you are taking as well?
Yes, but it still doesn't work
Try using the root setting in the apex settings. Cant remember the exact name of the root option. Maybe that will help.
Can't find the root setting.
Are you rooted? I could not tell by your response.
No, not rooted

Then, I would assume that may be the difference. I was rooted when I tried to duplicate your issue.

So I just jumped in to google search since updating to KK, spoke out OK GOOGLE, and nothing. Checked all my settings, made sure voice is english US, hotword detection is ON, but nothing....if you hit the microphone it wakes up and works, but it no longer has hotword detection any more for me.
Any one else?

It does not work like that, if you are on the goggle search app and say ok google it activates the voice command but if you grab the google launcher apk from here (http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-and-gpe-devices-apk-mirrored-for-all-others/ ) it might work (haven't tried it so don't know)

Lol, Im sorry, I guess I wasnt clear, I mean in the google search app, you would say OK GOOGLE and it would activate. It no longer does for me. And I have cleared data/cache for google search as well as downgrading the app, still wont activate hotword detection

Sorry, I updated my last post with that info, yes I downgraded the app, didnt help. I cleared cache/data, didnt help, updated again, nothing.
I don't know what's wrong maybe someone else running 4.4.2 on t-mo can offer some help
It does work under googles 'voice search' app, but not the google search app.
Yes I know the search app

Also running 4.4.2 on T-Mobile LG G2 (D801) and having the same issue. Worked before the 4.4.2 upgrade, now it doesn't. Still works if you click the mic icon and talk, but doesn't recognize "OK google" as a hotword anymore. Hopefully there will be a patch soon, as the update was only just released 5 days ago (not even OTA yet). If anyone knows how to fix, let me know as well. I have tried the same steps (uninstalling updates, clear cache, re-install updates). Checked settings and hotword is enabled. Thanks!
Make sure to enable Google Now and Hotword Detection.
Also make sure your system language is English (US).
Already checked that. Turned Google Now off and back on as well as hotword detection to see if it fixed it which it did not. I sent feedback to Google that is was not working via the send feedback button. Hopefully it is just a bug and will be patched soon.
Fix for hotword detection!
Go to system settings/General/Accessibility,
Turn off On-Screen Phone,
Google Hotword detection will work again.

And I thought on-screen phone was a really cool feature. Was looking forward to using it. Until they work together I guess I will just have to make sure I turn off on-screen phone when not in use. Thanks for the tip! You are a gem to the community.

Thanks, but that didn't make okay google work from home screen. (Works fine if I go into google now, but that kinda defeats the purpose).

Let me guess, you aren't using the nexus launcher, which is the only launcher that allows you to use 'OK Google' from main screen.

No, I'm not I was using the LG launcher that came with the rooted kitkat I just installed... I like the LG UI, so if it requires changing that, I'll pass. Thanks for the info.
However, I'm still confused as to why "on screen phone" doesn't show up in my settings/general/accessibility. That doesn't have anything to do with a launcher.

You know on screen phone doesn't come preinstalled for non-factory 4.4.2 t mobile G2s, right? You would have to install it yourself.

Probably sounds stupid here, but what do you mean non-factory 4.4.2?
I'm using the current OTA 4.4.2 that was just modified to allow rooting, other than that it's the same as anyone that updated OTA.
But again, if it's a required install to get, why would not having it stop the "okay google" from working on the google mic ribbon on the home page? If I click the mic it works fine.
Recently, I've noticed that the Messaging app will automatically set itself as the default SMS app. I don't like the Messaging app, I don't want to use it. How am I able to stop this from occurring?

This happens to me constantly. I want to use hangouts as my default messaging app, but it randomly (or so it seems) switches back to the stock messaging app. I did notice that when this happens it also switches back to the original lock screen (I use GO Locker now).
I thought about removing the messaging app (my phone is rooted), but I'm not sure how that would affect the phone. I also can't seem to find the app under the list of apps I could uninstall.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

you could try freezing it with titanium backup
Don't freeze or remove the stock messaging app. I switched from ART runtime back to Dalvik, after reading that somebody experienced problems upon switching runtimes. Are you by chance on ART?
Edit - I also ought to mention that I haven't had it reset since I made the switch.

Cool, I'm glad I asked before I tried to do so.
As far as I know I am still using Dalvik runtime.

Switching to ART and then reverting to Dalvik would be my only suggestions then at that point. I hope it's resolved, I've been loving Messenger. [emoji14]
Having a very strange problem on the g6. For all the weather apps I use they include weather maps superimposed on Google maps. But the Google maps part of it doesn't display. So all that shows is the cloud cover or precipitation (or whatever layer I have it showing). But since the Google maps part doesn't display I don't know where that precipitation actually is. And this is for all the weather apps I have tried.
I'm a long time Android user and have used these weather apps for years. Any idea why it's not working correctly on this g6? I've tried checking all the app permissions and uninstalling and reinstalling. And Google Maps works fine by itself.

Hi all,
I'm having similar issues except not just with weather apps.
I've also been using the verizon version of Lg G6 and noticed that google maps embedded in ALL apps (i.e. yelp, zillow, tripadvisor, priceline, etc) come out completely blank. This has been going on since day 1 of using this phone. I've attached a screen shot of what it looks like on yelp.
Google maps itself works just fine without any issues.
My phone is up to date with all the system/app updates. I've tried clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling all those apps. The only thing I havent tried is doing a factory reset... which I dont want to do =\
Anyone else having this problem?? Any fixes??
I did a factory reset and the issue didn't come back. Btw the reset wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. The LG backup & restore function worked reasonably well. Backed up to SD card bf reset and restored right after. Things still needed to be setup a little. I've always had a rooted phone before this and relied on Titanium backup, so didn't know what to expect.

Hi,
I have been experiencing slow notifications on my S8 ever since I bought it, specifically with apps like Twitter and Skype. After research, I tested turning off the app power monitor, but that did not help. Then, I tried disabling the google app and the problem was fixed. However, I do use the google app on a regular basis so I would like to find a different way to fix the problem. I have also tried a phone reset with no results.
Thanks in advanced for any help!

Go really if that works by stopping the google application.
I have it like that, but there are many other things that I lose when I deactivate that function, for example the dictation to google voice, a function that is widely used by me.
I read that Nougat did not pass.
Amazing that there is no solution to this. There is no other solution?
