C - type charger in car? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Is is possible to use the c-type charger in the car for Waze, Spotify and other apps? I don't want to resort to using an AUX cable. I wasn't able to find any information about it online.

Nevermind. Lol

Car Kit on steroids

I'm looking to build a connector for my XDA for the following simultaneous purposes:
1. Connect To a USB connector for HotSync with a Computer
2. Charge the XDA
3. Connect to my car stereo's aux input / a mic (homemade car kit )
I'm not looking for anyone to build it or anything, I just want to know what pins to connect to what, the connector tutorial confused me a bit (haven't had all my classes yet...:O)
Thanks for any help!
The starting point would be a usb syn/charger cable and a lighter plug adaptor, you then have the basics of what you need.
And the best place to get a sync / charge cable would be...? Is the one on t-mobile's website the one I need or am I going to have to build one? Thanks for your help
Ebay is cheapest.

[Q] Charge & AUX for Car

Does anyone know of a cable to do both charge and output audio to 3.5mm (AUX) using just a single USB connection? Trying to regain the ease of use of the dock connector on my old iPhone.
I found a Motorola cable that appears to be the right thing, but likely wouldn't be compatible with the Nexus 4:

Micro-USB Extention Cable + Slimport = Success!

If you're wondering if it's possible to use a Micro-USB extension cable with a Slimport adapter the answer is yes! I have successfully used one to connect my Nexus 4 to a Slimport SP1002 adapter, then connect that via HDMI to my Pioneer SPH-DA100 car stereo. The bulky adapter with its myriad of connections and super short cable to connect to my phone is now hidden under the center console.
I can't post links yet, to find the cable I used Google "angledcables" micro-b usb extension
Just curious, why do you use MyDP to connect to your car's headunit? movies for the kids? GPS?

GPS, and as a workaround for the poor audio output of the Nexus 4. Although the ability to watch Netflix while waiting in the car is nice, too.

hmmm... this didnt work for me with
Black 3 Foot USB 2.0 USB Micro B Male 5 Pin to USB Micro B Female 5 Pin Cable
by YCS basics
from amazon
but I'll order the other one and try it because it would be so much better if i could extend the slimport rather than hang that whole thing from my phone
it works!!!!!!
The cable from amazon did not work but the cable from angledcables.com worked! Even though the envelope says usbfirewire.com, they have different models of micro usb cables
I got the 12 inch version of :
Item #: RR-MCB-EXT-XXG5
and i can CONFIRM it is WORKING for AppRadio 3 as an extension between the phone and Slimport adapter.
I suppose it's a hit or miss depending on if the company wired the 4th pin through (Which is usually used for OTG) or not. Slimport uses all 5 pins.

After a few days I had to disconnect the extension because it makes things way too unstable. The slightest bump stops the video signal. You have to totally remove it and plug it back in before it works again. I might try a few things to fasten the connectors together but I might just go without it.

Sorry to revive an old thread. Did you get this sorted out?
I'm in same situation. I just got Pioneer AVH-x8500BHS and SlimPort adapter to mirror from my N5 to the x8500 HU.
But the Slimport is in my glovebox, I want to move it to my center console for easier access and better GPS signal.
I'm afraid all this plugging/unplugging of the SlimPort will eventually wear out the cable or the N5 port.
Anyone ever figure out a way to get the extension to work without it cutting in and out all the time?

Audio out through USB?

Is it possible in any way to play music through the usb-cable? I have a carstereo with usb in. When I connect an iPhone it plays all the system audio through the car stereo. When I connect my S4 it browses the card for music files. It seems like I can play music that is stored on the phone, but I never do that. I play music from Spotify, Google Play Music and other streaming services, so I need an aux cable in addition. Not very elegant.
Is there any way to send the system audio through usb? There is a dock-option in settings, but it doesn't seem to do anything...
+1
I completely misunderstod the question duh!
Nope. Not possible To stream Spotify on USB because songs are Not properly stored on device. Best way is bluetooth or AUX.

I have an iBolt xProDock in my car, which both charges the phone and sends audio out through the phone's microusb connector. When docked, all audio is routed through the car stereo (you have to tick the checkbox under settings/my device/accessory etc).
The only issue in your case would be that the other end of the xProDock audio cable it has a standard 3.5mm plug instead of USB. If your car has AUX input, you could plug this straight in and get all audio from the phone through your car stereo.

It does have AUX as well as USB so this would work fine. I don't need the mount though, is it possible to buy just a cable like this anywere? Microusb in one end and usb/aux at the other?

Basically the cable has been made to so that when it is plugged in, the phone recognises it as a desktop dock. Thus it is a bit more than just a cable with microusb at one end and usb/aux at the other. (If you are interested in making your own cable, may want to do a search on the resistances between the usb pins that Samsung uses to identify different products plugging into the microusb).
Anyway, I haven't come across anywhere that sells just the iBolt type of cable, but to be fair I haven't really looked/enquired. You could contact iBolt and ask if they'll sell the cable, say as a replacement etc.
EDIT: never mind
I think ibolt do sell the cable separately, check the ibolt thread in the Note2 accessories forum.

Just came across this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2350690 in the S4 Accessories forum. So yes, the cable is available separately.

A Few Questions

Just a couple general questions. Planning to order the 6T for use on Verizon unless I hit a roadblock.
Using a regular USB C cable and a 2.0 Amp car charger, will the phone actually charge with the screen on, even if it's at a slower rate? Or do I need a Dash charger or whatever official label OP has on it now for my phone to actually charge on the road?
I use an Aux cable to connect to my car stereo. I also need to have my phone charging. What do people use to do that? The options I see are a splitter that has 3.5mm jack and a USB-C connector or using a Bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter.
How's the quality using the speakerphone with the 6T?
