Just got a s7 edge g935v after my note 4 died on me.
I just finished rooting stock nougat now wondering what custom rom to go with.
From what I read the g935F rims and install instructions work with my model?
Any suggestions on the most stable rom to go with? Thanks
Also read there's no xposed framework for us to use?
Edit: also is there a working custom recovery? Or use flashfire to install roms?

mmk new issue. lost root. went back through to the steps to reroot. phone wont boot but can get to download mode. tried files supplied in this guide to go back to stock but odin fails every time https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
EDIT: guessing the files in that guide are out dated. gonna try another firmware to get back to stock. from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/firmware-verizon-s7-edge-t3344092
EDIT.....again. this firmware worked . back to stock
Bro your bootloaders are locked. So you can't have a custom recovery or custom roms(well you can have stock roms bt I don't really count those.). So if you want custom roms and recovery and all that cool stuff if you can take back your 935V and get an international model.
That's what I figured. Hopefully someone figures out an unlock for this. No point in root for me without getting xposed frame work. Really missing my note 4 at this point.
Thanks for info.

Did you root your phone after flashing on TWRP ???

Hi,
I bought a S5 (at&t unlocked) for my son from ebay for Christmas. It is on Kitkat.
When i check via At&t software update I got this each time "Software Update Interrupted" and i have to try again in 24h. I factory-reset the phone several time and got same message.
I tried with Kies and it says I have the latest firmware. Version is G900AUCU2AOA2
My son wanted the S5 because it has Lollipop.
How can i get it? Using Odin? If so please tell me how to do it. Thank you in advance.
Root the phone by using Towelroot or Chainfire. Flash a custom recovery using Odin. I suggest Philz Touch or TWRP. Then download any stock or custom lollipop rom from the AT&T section of this forum and flash it using the custom recovery. Here is the link to the AT&T section of this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/development
All of the information you're looking for is there. You can also flash International version Roms on your phone. JUST MAKE SURE WHATEVER YOU FLASH IS SPECIFIC TO YOUR PHONES MODEL OR YOU WILL BRICK IT! You can find your model phone by going to "Settings" and "About Phone". Start there and follow this order.
1.) Root phone
2.) Flash Custom Recovery
3.) Flash Rom of choice.
There are plenty of YouTube videos that will show you how to do everything step-by-step. Just do a little research and the best advice I can give you is make sure whatever you flash on your phone it says it's for your model phone.
Hope this helps

This is completely and entirely innacurate. If root means nothing to you the att s5 section on xda has the stock files and instructions on how to manually apply the 5.0 ota, as well as how to root KitKat and how to update to a rooted lollipop. Do not try to flash any custom recoveries, you will brick the phone.

How is that completely and entirely inaccurate? There are different methods to updating or flashing your phone. Yes you can use Odin to flash the 5.0 ota. IMO I find it much easier to have a custom recovery installed that way it makes it much easier to flash updates or roms in the future especially if you decide to root. Everyone has their methods. But flashing a custom recovery WILL NOT brick your phone IF you flash the correct recovery. That's simply an option to the OP and it's completely up to him what route he wants to take to do this. So before you comment on someone's post and say it's completely and entirely inaccurate remember that's solely from your point of view.

Except there is no "correct recovery" for the g900a other than safestrap, I have the device I think I might know what I'm talking about. Nothing I said was opinionated, its all straight facts you can even check for yourself.

Okay. So you just answered the question. There is a "correct recovery". Safestrap.

It is only kind of a recovery, it doesn't replace the stock one and only fully works on KK and, requires you to be already rooted.

I guess the easiest way would be Rakuu's method if you're not too tech savvy by just flashing the 5.0 ota with Odin but if you want to get the phone rooted and play around with custom roms you can flash Safestrap. All up to you but if it were me, I would Root the phone and flash a prerooted Lollipop firmware that way you can always leave yourself open to options in the future. There are a ton of people out there that wish they could get their hands on a g900a on KitKat solely for rooting and modding purposes lol
I'm having a lot of trouble getting my phone to boot into recovery mode. This is my first attempt at rooting and loading a custom rom on any phone.
AT&T Note 3
Rooted with towelroot
Samsung-SM-N900A
Android version 4.4.2
N900AUCUCNC2
MDF v1.0 Release 2
I've installed towelroot and rooted the phone. I've installed SuperSu and Busy Box. Safestrap installs with no issues but when I reboot the phone goes right back to the regular AT&T boot.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
The phone has a locked bootloader and cannot run a custom rom unless it is a rom based on a stock touchwiz rom.

Any chance you can point me somewhere to find that specifically? It seems like I keep reading all these guides online for rooting Note 3's and none of them seem to work.

Hi. Using a CID11 device w/ KINGROOT/SAFESTRAP
I know the bootloader is locked and all, but will I still be able to use CyanogenMod 13 ?
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=kltevzw
I know this is a noob question as the S5 is pretty locked down now 'geocold' is helping the enemy, but is it still at all possible to use CM13 with this safe strap option on a CID11 device.
also is there any other ROMs I could use that are similar with any kind of custom kernel that helps preserve battery life like in the past or is that a no now since the bootloader is locked.
lastly will I loose root if I can do any of the above.
....
very new to the S5 please bare with me lol

You shouldn't lose any data but a backup is always wise
According to the thread you have to be on rooted PB1 firmware and use safestrap
The guide is specific so follow his guide exactly
I would do a back up in Samsung Smart Switch or Samsung kies 3 before you use or use safestrap backup whatever you prefer

Oh ok, yeah since I'm on OK3 will I need to do the whole KingRoot method again? or if I flash to PB1 from ODIN will I still keep root/safestrap/bb not sure how this all works just started using the S5 today.
Also once that is all done, and I'm on a rooted PB1 ... I'll be able to flash threw safestrap to a MM 6.0.1 ROM ? but when I do this wont I loose root? and I thought root not able to be obtained on MM 6.0.1 with CID11 devices? this is where it gets to be confusing for me, sorry for all the questions

You will lose root if you go up to cm13 using this method
If you need root then the linked method above may not be for you

Yes I can not use android with out root lol, but thanks for showing me all this anyways its progress I guess, not sure if this handset was worth the money now knowing all this, but I'll stick with it.
I see no point in even bothering to run CM13 or any custom rom really with out the use of root. ehhhh anyway. Backing up my apk/data using a snazzy lil app called MyBackup Pro. for the migration.
Thanks for the help. Looks like I'll be staying on the 5.0 OK3 rom then since at least I have it rooted, and some kind of recovery even tho the whole safestrap touchwiz thing is not pleasing its better than nothing.
I'm trying to run Pokemon GO but I can't because of safetynet. I already unrooted but I still can't play.
I read that restoring stock boot.img might work, but the one provided with Renovate ROM does not work.
So I was wondering whick stock boot.img I could flash in order for the game to work. I already tried the one from the stock Note 7 N930FXXU2BPI7 firmware, but my device doesn't even boot.
Should I flash a S7 Edge firmware one? If so, from which firmware or doesn't that matter?
Thanks.

Hi all,
Im using an S7 Edge on Nougat.
I used odin and cf room (https://download.chainfire.eu/930/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hero2lte-hero2ltexx-smg935f.zip) to root my device.
After the process finished, my phone rebooted but stays on the animated samsung logo.
I've done a search, and im a little lost - please help - any help is useful.
Thank you
I never used Auto Root but if you look at the chainfire page, and see the S7 Edge it is just for 6.01 and not nougat. I think that's the problem

I think that you need to flash the stock firmware for your country with ODIN. Maybe someone else can verify this?
Trying this and im getting Secure check failed (bootloader).
I'm scared and need help.. Anything?
Hi,
You have to flash a Nougat stock firmware if you wish to flash using Odin. Samsung bootloader (Knox) doesn't allow an official firmware downgrade, and IIRC that message you are getting happens when you're trying to flash an older version of Android.
Get a newer stock firmware and try again, or if you prefer you can just flash a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM (which may be faster and already comes rooted). Also next time search for a rooting method for your Android version, rooting uses of the system partition, that means if you try using an old method, there's a risk of something not working fine.
All the best,
~Lord

Hi Lord,
Just did what you mentioned, you were spot on - the older bootloader caused issues with the data partition so i lost all apps/data and had to start from a scratch nougat install.
All is working now - appreciate your help, both of you - i will research more in future.
