Hey guys!
I've got the Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G901F running Android 6.0.1 but i have a annoying problem...
The battery is draining extremely fast!
The things i've done:
-Bought a new ORIGINIAL Battery
-Factory Resetted the Phone 2 times
-Turned on Battery Saving Mode with brightness very low
-Wiped cache
-Installed apps which close apps on the background
-Uninstalled most of the apps and disabled standard apps.
This also includes Random Shutdowns and the Phone being very hot.
Within around 7 hours (my schoolday) my phone is drained to 5%-10% with only looking on it once a hour.
Not playing any games.
Who can help me please?!

1. Install one of the available battery monitoring apps. I recommend BetterBatteryStats:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15869868#post15869868
2. Read carefully the instructions/help
3. When you get some knowledge about battery overview and wakelocks -> analyze the results from the app by your own and try to find a cause for your problem or
4. Make proper dump file from the app and post it on the BBS thread asking for help.

some people have 2 days on there phone with 5-6 hours screen on.
i only have wifi on and all the other stuff like location services and bluetoot etc, is turned off
can somebody please help me so i can use this phone like it should be
The latest update has improved battery life...
Sent from my SM-G900H using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
1 install Android Assistant, search for it on Google play
2 check what apps are using the most Cpu time
3 decide what you need and what you can uninstall (careful).
Mind you, some apps may not appear in the list and be often using cpu time anyway.
In addition, try the app 'Greenify', it can help a lot in saving cpu time and energy, if you learn how to.use it.
Also (only for rooted devices) use Autorun manager or a similar app to select apps you want to prevent from starting at boot.
Hi
I will try tht thanks.
When i look with gsam the android(os kernel) is at 82%!
i think that causes the battery drain right now but dont know how to fix it

I had this same issue. Mine was overheating when i used any app and sucking up battery life like crazy. Yesterday I did a factory reset, reloaded my apps, and installed the latest firmware update (NF6). So far everything seems to be back to normal. No more overheating and no extreme battery use/drain.
oh ok.
I only have the battery drain but no overheating yet
But isnt it to quick to putt it back in factory reset since i only have it for like 3 days
Hi, everyone
i just got a new Samsung S5 SM-G900F a few days ago and i have to charge the battery everyday without heavy using. after checking the battery usage, i find out that android system consumed 30% power from battery and Android OS system is the second one in app list who consumed 19%. i am using the official rom without root, the version is G900FXXU1ANE2. Could anyone help out from this issue, i did a wipe already, but no improvement.

Sometimes just restart the phone may help to fix the problem.
As you have done factory reset but no improve, and no root, I would suggest another way: go to Settings > Application manager > ALL > select an app and "Turn off".
Try to turn off unneeded apps.
Hey guys,
I've been having an S6 Edge+ for a couple of days already but there seems to be an issue with the ROM. I'm getting a lot of battery drain from the "Android OS" and I'm losing up to 5% - 7% per hour in standby.... I have even re-flashed the entire ROM and factory reset two times... still the same.
I've disabled Google's Location History and Google Now but this did not help...
My previous Galaxy S6 was also running the latest ROM but there were no such problems...
Has anybody else experienced such an issue and do you have any ideas?

Check if any sync is stuck in loop, sometimes this kills battery very easily. If all else fails check with some app like GSam.

Unfortunately GSam does not produce too detailed information without Root access and it only says Android System and lists all the services that are under it...
The interesting part is that after several re-flashes with the same firmware, the wakelock disappeared...
Now I get 76% to 80% deep sleep...
Go figure... Probably some stuck sync as you mentioned...

Ah great... I also had similar issue previously with Calendar sync, couple of flashes and it went. Now happily rooted
Android OS Wakelock killing the battery! ...... solved
OK, im not too savvy with settings and systems, just sharing what i have been through. I too had a major battery drain problem on my S6 Edge+ , giving me abt 8-10hrs of use after a full charge. Even during the nights with everything off and power saving enabled i would lose abt 50-60% battery over 8 hours. ..... caused by Android OS ....... it would keep the screen awake for hours even with the screen off .... ( dont know how that worked) ..... tried a factory reset but didnt help. Then rooted the phone and downloaded wakelock detector and installed it as a system app. Installed greenify and doze ..... last night lost 4% over 11hours with wifi and 4g off and power saving enabled which is a drastic improvement. Facing one little problem that images do not get downloaded (automatically or manually) in whatsapp with wifi in use. Will use the cell for a few days and post again abt how the battery is holding up and if there is any other performance issues.
If you want to save battery, try this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.packagedisabler
It show all RAM usage of each app, you can disable any app in Bloatware (samsung default app) list to save power
This app run WITHOUT ROOT
I recently bought a used T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S5. It came running lollipop. The battery has been awful. I lose around 50% a day without using it at all. I frequently pull my phone out of my pocket during the day, and it will be hot and the screen will be on. When it is in airplane mode the battery life is normal, and there are no problems. I have tried resetting it, clearing the cache, greenify, and multiple battery saving apps. Nothing helps. Any suggestions?
Install a battery monitoring app, see what's causing it
Most likely due to certain apps you have installed that are draining your battery (maybe try rebooting into safe mode and see if the issues persist) Then use BetterBatteryStats or something similar and see which apps are causing it
Hi friends....
I have the exynos version of s7 edge and am suffering extreme battery drain... when the phone is off it still costs around 2% in one hour and sometimes without even using the phone feels hot in hand.... i have tried everything that was on youtube and all the methods in the xda thread.... twice factory reset my phone and tried resetting as well but the results are same after i update the apps on my phone....
The major reason for the battery drain was 1) wifi active around 37% and 2) apps usage around 61%....
But i couldn't find out which apps were causing the drain since no apps were listed except some with 1 to 4% of drain....
Any help please...
Ps: am not rooted
App used: better battert stats
