Which channel are you using at 5ghz?
I had the problem with my huawei and now with my op5 with channels higher 100.
Try a lower channel - like me at the moment 36. Perfect for all my devices.

still having same issue . Currently i am using Xiaomi router 3 .
Mhh, you can try: Settings -> Backup & Reset and selecting the Network Settings reset option. This will lead to your OnePlus 5 forgetting all Wi-Fi and paired Bluetooth devices.
After resetting the network settings, reboot your 5 and then try again. If this not fix your problems I don't know.

i dnt know whats wrong tried a lot but doesn't working
I got this probleme on my samsung s tablet with France region software. Il look like the 144 and up wifi channels are only in us and some international devices ignore them. So I put a lower wifi channel 56 i think and it worked.
If you're using Magisk. You could check out (my) Magisk mod https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/magisk-oneplus-5ghz-mod-t3656016 it changes the wifi region to 'EU'. I can see and connect to channel 149 for example with this mod.
OnePlus seems to have buggy 5G wifi support, this configuration works on mt OnePlus 5T: Band: 36 (5.180 GHz), Width: 80 Mhz, SideBand: Lower
My problem with 5Ghz wifi is slightly different. While it shows very nice download speed (260-300Mb), the upload is barely reaching 1Mb (while me standing 1 meter away from the router). It's not impossible to upload a photo to cloud or have a call over Viber for example. I tried this and it didn't work:
Resetting all networks settings and rebooting the device
Doing factory reset. I actually rooted my phone without a full backup lately.
My observation: phone shows very nice speed on 5Ghz WiFi without the SIM or when SIM data is switched off. Looks like OP5 modem messes the WiFi connection somehow when mobile data (4G) steps in.
My router is Xiaomi 4A Gigabit edition, by the way.
Did anyone face the same?
it work for me when change channel to 36 (36-48 worked fine)

I had bad battery life on my S4 right after release. I tracked it down to Multicast being ENABLED on one of my Access Points. I would recommend logging into your routers and/or) access points and look for anything related to Multicast and Disable it (or uncheck it).
Granted this was for a totally different device (note that my Nexus 7 was NOT affected by multicast) but it certainly cant hurt anything by disabling multicast..If it does, just enable it again.
My S4 was using approx 5%-8% of battery per hour with multicast enabled...once I disabled it, I now drain about 1% per hour.
This took me almost 2 weeks to discover...keeping in mind that my S4 never connected to the affected AP. I use that AP for older legacy devices.....just having it on the network affected my S4.
Give it a try..if it does not work..enable it again.
That does sound logical, and I've read about that in other threads. I have a WRT54G router and see nothing about multicast other than "filter multicast" under security (block LAN requests) which is checked to prevent multicast.
The other thing that has changed recently is I switched Cable modems from Cisco 2100 to Motorola SB6141. Not sure if I can change anything in it or if could cause problems.

I was running Tomato on the WRT54G and that is the setting I was referring to (but under tomato its in FIrewall - "Allow MultiCast"
It seems that you have the "correct" setting - To block multicast - As such, I'm sorry that my fix didnt work for you..
As far as the new Modem, it may be possible that multicast is enabled on the new one. Im not even sure if that is a setting you can change as those motorolas are locked down pretty tight by the ISP's

Have you used the same SSID on your 5GHz as on your 2.4GHz?
If so: they must be different!

My Note 3 Work very well on 5 Ghz, is my wifi at home. Router Belkin.
Look whit Wifi Analyzer, option wifi channels. You see all of the 2,4 Ghz, and if You touch on top left it change to 5 Ghz. You must see Yours.
My N9005 connects to my Asus RT-AC66U, but keeps complaining about an unstable internet connection. My old SIII worked fine. Compatibility issue between N9005 and Asus AP's?

Did you find a solution? I have the same pproblem. This plus the unstable connection problem is making me miss my note 1
Found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675547 on 5ghz connection issues on Note 1 in Hong Kong. It describes channel limitation based on region. The file in my etc folder has ccode=GB which I assume is Great Britain. However, it allows the channels that my wifi router EA4500 is using on the 5ghz channel. So no luck on recognizing the 5 ghz network still.
I downloaed wifi analyzer and looked at my network. By default my router and I assume all the ones in my neighborhood use channel 1 on 2.4ghz. I just switched to channel 12 and there hasn't been any issue for the past hour i.e. no unstable connection warning from the phone. Just downloaded a 40MB file without any glitches at good speed. Will report back if the problem comes back.
Edit: Spoke too soon. Unstable connection warning back in a couple of hours. The interesting thing is that both my old Note 1 (N7000) and my wife's S4 can see and connect to the 5ghz SSID just fine and of course have no unstable connection notifications which seem to be an 'enhancement' in the note 3! Sigh Haven't even rooted the N9005 because of the knox flag or I would have played a bit with the wlan configs in the etc folder. Guess will have to wait for Samsung to come around to admitting a problem and then fixing it.
I've been having the same issue with my RT-AC66U.

I also have a RT-AC66U... and I'm connected fine with my Note 3.
go into your wifi settings and make sure that the third checkbox is not checked.
Name in french of this box is "Basculement réseau auto"...
With this setting enabled, my wifi is unstable even if the signal power is full.
Also make sure that you have the latest firmware on your router.
Try channel 48. Dont use those channels 160+, may not be supported.
I'm using an AC66U.

Ji
I am using Tegra Note 7 with 4.4.2.
When ever i connect to my wifi, the internet at my home goes dead
Normaly my internet is all fine and dandy, and i can connect other devices like phones etc to my wifi.
However there is a dark mystery revolving my Xolo Tegra Note 7
When i switch on the wifi in the tablet, it makes the internet ping go higher and higher till it disconnects
Here is a screenshot of my pings

As you can see, the moment i flip the wifi button on my tablet, pings go climbing, and when i switch the wifi off, the internet becomes normal
.
This problem started 2 days ago. I use Dataone broadband from BSNL India. Why is that only my tablet causes this problem and not other devices? When i connect my phone to wifi and then connect tegra note to phone via Bluetooth internet sharing, same problem occurs.. Its like the tablet is sucking everything it connects

2spooky4me....
but have you configured VPNs in tab ?? ..
I think somehow your setup creates a n/w loop by multi-nic of tablet..
But since, I am not a Networking expert..
Can you try the same in some friends house... ( may be its your house thats haunted ) Joking
Isolate the problem onto ISP by taking the tab to a friends house with Airtel / Reliance / any other broadband provider and then report.
Guys, iy was my GOOGLE AUTO BACKUP. Google+ had consumed 13 GB man, 13 friggin GB!!! All ym videos and photos are on Google Drive now, LOL.
its like that Fappening incident..
Just got my N910G (AUS), and I found the wifi is VERY unstable when it is connected to 5Ghz band, but stable on 2.4Ghz.
Tried it on 2 different modems/routers, same.
Never had any problem with my other phones connecting to 5Ghz (M7, Z2).
Any idea?
The phone is stock, non-rooted.

I'm not saying I get poor speed, I'm saying my connection is unstable (lots of disconnections).
Speed is fine.
Factory reset or try latest update/ odin flash latest fw.
You might also fiddle around with which channel your router is set to for the 5ghz band. Turn off the smart network switching too.

Factory reset is not a solution to every little problem. In fact, it's not a solution at all. If you don't find out what's wrong, you could hard reset your phone, set it up from scratch and still be faced with the same issue.

Just change the 5ghz wifi channel to that which is obviously suitable for all your devices. Also had this issue but my PC was able to connect to both 5ghz channel on my 2 dual band routers while the phablet won't. I fiddled and discovered the lower channels worked perfectly
Is anyone having an issue where WiFi disconnects on its own and seems to disconnect the phone from Verizon's network as well.

I haven't had that problem. I only had a problem with the advanced calling feature turned on during a call.
I did where the phone showed still connected but router showed disconnected. It is not a phone issue, it was an issue with my Linksys N router

What was the issue with the router causing this? Did you fix it?
Thanks!
It seems to be a problem on both the Turbo and the Moto x pure, many people in the Motorola forums say they purchased a new router and it seemed to work. I personally won't be buying a new router just for this phone. Hopefully it will be fixed with the marshmallow update
Well I disconnected my Linksys Router and used the Comcast modem and setup WiFi with it and works great now
extremely frustrated with turbo 2 wifi
I'm having the same problem, and it's true on at least 3 different routers so far. I surely won't be replacing every router I ever need to connect to. As a frequent international traveler this is a HUGE problem for me and will result in my getting a different phone before my next international trip if it is not resolved quickly.
Are they all linksys

No. Haven't tested on any Linksys. All were Netgear routers, 2 with N (running DDWRT) and one with AC (factory firmware) protocol.
Don't know then. Mine has worked fine on a netgear R7000 on stock and dd-wrt.
