I am an italian citizen and I have bought an LG G6 phone (from Germany, DEC is the 3 letter code on the box).
It works pretty well, but I can't understand why, checking the settings, the software on it is Android 7.0. When I turned on the phone the first time it asked me twice to update the software, actually doing so, but it is still on Nougat 7.0
Does any one know why? Shouldn't it be able to run Android Nougat 7.1???

there is no 7.1 for lg g6 afaik. it will probably be jumping to 8.0 (oreo) hopefully soon (and hopefully they WILL do release it!)
We will get Oreo soon so no point in 7.1.* update. Especially since it doesn't add a lot over 7.0.

It depends on if you mean an OTA update or a Dev here building it...
The likely hood of an OTA are slim to none IMO but since a Developer has already gotten 7.0 (Nougat) working for my Galaxy Tab S, I'd say theres a good chance that there is one that works with the Zenfones that will likely take on the challenge.. and I will happily donate to the one that does. I would love to have 7.0 running on my Zenfone 2 Laser.
They are actually working on it. Just take a look at their git. Be patience.

Don't know if its possible to port s7 nougat to s5, as it is stuck at marshmallow and there is likely 5% chance that samsung will update tge s5 to 7.0

custom roms are usually based on stock. stock nougat from samsung will never come. S7 nougat port will never come . S5 will never receive nougat roms only CM14.1

Hi all,
I think the OP is talking about a custom Nougat rom ported from the S7 to the S5 and not about an official update.
I don't know if it will happen or not. But, I hope a port is already in the works of the best developers here and I keep coming every other day to see for a new thread with this great news.

Exactly, I was referring to a rom port, I know that officially the S5 will not receive android nougat, and I also hope that some dev is already working in nougat, because Cm 14 loses camera features and image quality and I do not like it

Yeah,
I like the Touchwiz look better on my phone too. Especially the setting UI of Nougat Touchwiz (like in the Note 7) is pure bliss.

I do not think that the Galaxy S5 will receive a successful nougat port. The reason is because there is no other Samsung phone (flagship/budget) that has a Snapdragon 801 chipset and is running Android 7.0 as we speak.

However, there are great custom ROMs that can give you the 'FOUGAT' experience (fake nougat). I am currently downloading the Nemesis Reborn v5, I heard it's the best 'FOUGAT' ROM all around. :cyclops:

I'm just noticing that the US version's are getting nougat recently, but since they had they're beta tests before ours I guess that's why they are getting it now, so should we be looking at the end of February for nougat to be on ours?

Historically the G model was always about one month behind in features and updates, so you can expect a Nougat update in ~2-3 weeks
Thing is, I prefer to wait till most of the bugs have been cleared... Cuz it seems that there are quite a few, people are not very happy with this new release.
Yesterday I decided it wasn't worth the wait and went with Lineage - looks great so far!

To be honest the offical Nougat update is really dissapointing/not worth the waiting time. It´s like going back to B03 in terms of bugs+really bad system performance just with a new android version. I flashed LOS 14.1. Had already completly forgotten how smooth it runs and even more important how much battery it preserves...
Anybody have any updates on when the Nougat update might be available? Are we still 2-3 weeks off?
This is also the question I'm asking.
I really don't want to bother rooting the phone, I've done all that in the past, these days I just want to use the phone.

A2017G is A2017G. When it comes for Germany, you'll be able to flash it with built in updater with no problems.

What that statement says is that the visitors will be able to see the phone working with Nougat, nothing else. It can be the U version for all we know.
That's why it would be interesting if someone is at MWC and could tell us exactly what we can expect in the coming hours / days / week.
I myself bought both Axon 7 and Daydream viewer just to get my hands on Daydream and I begin to be impatient about a clear statement about Daydream coming on G version of this phone. We read everything on this forum just because nobody knows... So, at the MWC, after ZTE has teased about Daydream on Twitter, we could probably get some clearer answers from there.

Practically impossible, the Moto G6 Plus has already been upgraded to the .Pie then the Android Q for this device only via GSI or Customization ROM

I wouldn't go impossible, but it is unlikely.
Then again, the X4 got both Oreo and Pie. G6 family is Treble compatible and 64-bit. I wouldn't put it past them a Q update for the G6 and G6 Plus.
Just don't wait for it as if it's dead certain.
