System reports wrong battery technology. FIX? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Android reports that I have Li-Ion battery when OnePlus 2 has Li-Po battery. This problem has been with me for quite some time. I've changed ROMs and kernels, reseted the whole phone from TWRP but issue remains. I remember many months ago I did one of those battery calibrations with root. Question remains how do I fix this. I think it's relevant because it probably affects how my phone handles the battery and might use wrong voltage safe limits and or something similar. Anybody else had the problem?

[Q] Battery Percentage Reporting Issue

So it seems like I have a defective battery but I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced similar issues that may lead me to believe that this could be a software issue.
After unplugging my phone from a full charge it takes approximately 2 hours for the battery to report anything other than 100%. And when it does change it drops all the way to 80%. Nothing in between just a sharp drop. Sometimes I even see the battery gain new life and the percentage increases.
I am using the extended control widget to monitor my battery, but even the battery panelin the settings menu reports the same. I have played around a bit with temp rooting my phone, but these issues pre-date my first attempts, so I'm fairly sure that isn't the cause.
So before I call HTC or T-Mobile to get a new battery, has anyone else had the same issues with their G2?
I don't think its a defective battery. I, and I think almost everyone here, have same the issue.

[Q] ultra fast battery drain

i'm losing almost two percent battery per minute on my tab, what the heck?
Its so fast i'll have to keep this post brief since i'm posting from it.
Already checked the battey break down, screen is vastly dominant but its been off.
Power cycle? How long has it been happening? What firmware are you using, stock or rom?

Not sure what you mean by powe cycle, but i just took it off the charger after a 6 hour charge and the problem persists
android version is 3.1,
2.6.36.4 cyanogenmod+root @pershoot-ubuntu1 for the firmware
Rom is starburst.hmj37.uekme p7510ukeme
My battery has gone from 100 to 70 since i started typing this
By powercycle I mean have you turned the Tablet totally off and then back on again?
Have you checked the ROM's thread in the Dev forum for people with the same issue?
How long has it been since you made any changes to your tablet? I'm talking about updating the ROM, installing the ROM, changing kernels, etc.
Unless your battery or some other component in your tablet has gone bad the problem is probably due to something in the ROM or kernel you're using. If a reboot(powercycle) does not fix it your first stop should be the Starburst thread or wherever you got your ROM from. If it's not a hardware failure you're pretty much guaranteed to not be the only person having the problem.
Is there a known issue on the rom with respect to battery-calibration like in the original Samsung 3.1/3.2 ROMs? There is a thread somewhere here how to calibrate your battery-reading, just search for it.
May not be what is happening to you, maybe it is. Is the percieved drain constant up 'till the end'?
more data;
powercycling didn't do anything, and neither did resetting battery statistics either
the reports of starburst rom having battery draining properties are....mixed..
most seemed to be solve by uninstalling a certain app (all the apps suggested are ones i do not own), and it seems all these cases of battery drain are FAR less severe than mine

[Q] Defy Battery Drain

My Motorola Defy MB525 is experiencing strange battery drains. It usually drains itself regardless of usage or power state. Even in a shut down state, the battery still continues to discharge. The strangest of all is that after each charge I'm able to use the device for about 36 - 40 hours, regardless of none, low, mild or heavy usage. For about 2 years, the battery lasted around 3 - 7 days.
At first I though, it was the battery. However, after I've purchased a new original Motorola battery, the issue still persists.
In addition, the first signs of this issue arose right after a CM11 change from the stock Android 2.2.2 and continued even after I've reinstalled the Android available .SRT file over RDS Lite for the 2.2.2 version.
I've tried different suggestions and tutorials (for example - CPU Deep Sleep, WiFi power management, Baseband Change, etc.) available on the forum, but without any use.
Thus, my only question :
Even tough the device works without any major glitches, as expected from such a device. Does the above mentioned issue relate to a Motherboard or Power Management/State Chip failure?
Btw...I've took the device apart to check if there are any signs of shorted elements or short-outs. Sadly, nothing of sort.
Any help and/or suggestion would be appreciated.
Hi, maybe try another CM11 nightly or another custom ROM to see if the same problem persists?
this [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778492 thread] goes in-deep on battery problems, but, knowing a lot about electronics, I think in your case is just that inside the phone, there is a small switching-mode power supply, and it have a (fairly) large capacitor that can leak some current. When capacitors age they became more of a resistor... and that's why most of modern electronics break up. I would blame hardware in this case.

Battery readings going completely wild

So recently my phone (unrooted unmodded N910C) battery is being extremely weird. When I try to charge my phone, it sometimes doesn't go beyond around 70-90% but if I take out the battery and put it back in, it shows 100%. It sometimes also shuts off on its own at around 40% and when I plug in a charger, it shows sometimes 0% and sometimes 40% (but if I turn it on, it still says 0%). I've tried a lot of things, including discharging completely and recharging to 100% (powered off), factory reset, clearing cache, and quick starting battery and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have similar problems and has anyone found a solution to this?
The problem is the battery ... the catode pin inside battery is not working properly. The motherboard of the phone it just reading the voltage and temperature of the battery. Your percentage shown on status bar is based on what current intensity is received from battery. So just replace the battery... esxuse my poor english

Are you sure it's the battery? I took it out and everything looks normal, including the pins. Also, battery apps said that my battery health was good or should I not trust them at all? I just don't want to buy an extra battery if the problem is not with the battery.
I meant the catode pin inside battery not outside. It's your call if you buy a battery or not. I just writed here how the proces work because i have fixed lot of motherboard i knowing about this i have explained to you. Cheers
i have the same problem too and i tested every things and now i am really tire , i dont think thats problem was the battery , can anybody help me plz?
Had similar problem yes new battery at the samsung store the assistant said many note 4 batteries selling I got the last one. Maybe we got a bad batch or its deliberate. Maybe we could do a survey how many people have had to buy a new battery
Sent from my SM-N910C using XDA-Developers mobile app
I also posted a similar problem. In my case the problem is more alarming, because it's happening in two different batteries, one of them is rather new and fresh. It seems that it started out of the blue, I did not make any major change in the phone.
I am still investigating the issue, I'll be back with more observations.
Just an update on my situation: I bought a new battery and now the battery readings seem to be fine.
I had the same problem as you OP. The problem was definitely the battery for me at least. Bought a new one just the other week and now everything is working perfectly
If the affected battery is under warranty get it replaced for free. Or if the problem does not get solved after cross checking many possibilities. Just buy a new battery. Simple. Good luck.

Sudden battery drop, 70%-->0%, on newly replaced battery

I have replaced my battery with what should be an original battery for the Huawei P8 GRA-L09, battery nr: HB3447A9EBW.
After having assembled the phone again I experience some weird issues with the battery level dropping from 50%, 60%, 70% or even 100% in an instant. I have tried calibrating the battery by letting it die completely, recharge to 100%, let it drain completely again and recharge to 100%. I have tried different battery calibration apps and a factory reset - nothing helps.
I contacted the company I bought the battery from and got a replacement - still same issue.
Unfortunately i damaged the original battery when taking it out, so i cant use that as a reference.
All stats seems to be similar on the new batteries as on the old one, but for some reason the width of the new battery is a few millimeters smaller than the old one, meaning that it does not fill out the space completely. Has anyone else experienced the same?
Any suggestions on what my problem might be will be most appreciated!

Yeah, my replacement battery was also smaller than the original one. Also, I was getting sudden drops from 9 percent to 0 in a minute. After disabling Huawei Perfhub (Root access required), the drops were gone.

Thank you for your reply.
Do you have any idea what is happening, why disabling the Perfhub works/are necessary?
Want I loose other functionalities when disabling the Perfhub?

I guess, they are trying to do some kind of trottling by showing unreal percentages. Something like what Apple did with the iPhone 6.

Yeah that might be, but if that is the case that trottling has gone terribly wrong on my phone.
Can you give me a hint on how you disabled the Performance Hub?

Rename /system/bin/perfhub file to something else and test. If it works (Doesn't work always), you will see a slightly different battery stats page.
How can I locate the perfhub file, It looks like there is no such directory in my mobile's memory?
