I don't think you need to do anything for extra storage with nougat. Mine just worked after I installed nougat.

Can you briefly explain the steps you followed to activate Adoptable Storage?
I did follow some guides, but ended up without any success, so any help will be highly appreciated!

II ended up rooting my tablet and flashing the file that enables Adoptable storage
I routed nougat then I flashed marshmallow and then flashes the file that enables Adoptable storage

Well, I am happy that it worked for you, unfortunately I do NOT want to root or break the Knox code as mine is still under warranty.
Is there any other way? I would downgrade to MM without problem.
Thanks

Cm 12/12.1 on Samsung Galaxy tab e 9.6 sm-t560nu

Does anyone know how to flash custom recovery and flash cm12 on tab e? I don't know how to do so and am new to Samsung. I rooted and installed a custom rom on my HTC one mini so I have some experience. Anyone know how? Thanks in advance.
Root is still not available as of yet. Unlocking the bootloader might be impossible, but eventually someone might take the time to "safestrap" this tablet.
I'm just hoping for root at this point, safestrap is just a glorified theme that will slow everything down.

I just bought one of these over the holidays and have also been looking for a way to root. I spent an entire day fiddling around, and was able to get root using kingroot...as long as I didn't reboot. Once I did, it soft bricked it and I had to oden back to the latest (5.1.1) firmware. I ended up rooting with kingroot, stripping out all the bloatware, de-rooted with kingroot and going with that for now. No Xposed, sd boost or adblock (I did find a few ham-fisted workarounds), and now when I boot I get told that it is running a non standard kernal, but it does start. In another thread, someone claimed that they got it working using kingroot and it stuck thru reboots, but I haven't gotten it to work just yet.

Guys this tutorial helped me root & install TWRP recovery i can confirm its 100% working https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCJ60mgdk0g
Rooting this one is really easy. You have to go into Build Info... tap it like 7 times get your developer options on. Then you have to check two boxes. 1 is OEM unlock and that's very important make sure that it is on an unlocked and then to cut on USB debugging. Then you need to go to CF auto root 3.10.1 and flash TWRP... have a zip file of Superuser on your SD card or internal storage then when you cut TWRP on flash superuser.zip and it will automatically root your device.

Hi all
I used c.f. auto root it was fine for about an hour. I granted root to afwall and after some time it stoped working. Any root checker tells me my device is not rooted. What's wrong?

Or you can ignore all the answers and just install TWRP recovery by @Nick Verse and flash supersu.zip from official website.

Yeah but if you choose the right file you will get an opportunity. If you flash supersu official zip 2.7x it will patch some files in phone and will hide one annoying line on boot. (KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING)
So why you just not try it and reply then with what you think about that

Well, i don't disagree you with the thing that it will root the device but you should know/mention that CF Auto Root is responsible for these FRP-Locked phones. And this is a known problem.

How to root SM-J500F? and update to 6.0?

Hello,
Recently I have bought J5 SM-J500F, I searched around for rooting my phone but there didn't seem to be confirmed/safe methods. or some topics were too long so I didn't bother to read.
So I need a method to root my J5 SM-J500F running lollipop 5.1.1. Here is pic of device information.
i.imgur.com Y9rvyVB.png
(replace space with slashe in above address i couldn't post properly due to forum's anti-url spam system)
So I don't care if warranty voids on following conditions
1. If I can restore warranty later by some methods.
2. If I can get official update installed in my phone by some methods (when mobile is rooted) including unrooting mob to get update and rooting it afterwards.
And yes is there any way to update my mobile to marshmallow? People are getting update for their SM-J500F but I won't get it dunno why.
Root is main problem, please provide a confirmed solution, Thanks.

I have flashed 6.0.1 already any idea? My net is so slow I get 80-120 kbps, I don't want to download firmwares again and again. I am currently downloading stock 5.1.1, If there isn't way to root 6.0.1 I will go back to 5.1.1 and wait for updates. :/
nvm, I tried flashing SuperSu you provided and it worked, thanks a lot man. Now I have a perfect mobile for my needs.

You cant... and the V4 bootloader prevents you from going back to rootable firmware. Sorry... unless a new roit method is discovered, your **** out of luck

But will Odin go back to older firmware? Or are you stuck on PH1 bootloader? Thx for confirmation.
Probably stuck, but you should still be able go between the latest U and V firmwares. I am giving up on a non engboot root method. Sammy signed that kernel so it should always flash and permit root. But, that's not a well educated guess...

You can't. The only reason we can is because we have a leaked engineering kernel that allows root. Sadly Verizon killed root on the S6 about a year ago.

Hello, I just tried rooting my verizon s7 edge on the ph1 update using the link someone on this thread provided to someone else and am now stuck in a bootloop with the verizon logo stuck on the screen. How did you achieve root on yours? by using the same steps? Also, what do you think could have possibly went wrong and how would I be able to fix this? Your help would be much appreciated.

If you're stuck on the boot logo, you HAVE TO factory reset the device. When I rooted this happened to me and after doing the factory reset, it worked like a charm

When I was stuck, I did and the factory reset and it booted up right and I didn't have to re-flash the kernel. If dosen't boot up right away, re-flash stock firmware, don't dis able anything, then flash the kernel and it will work .

Oh ok, well hopefully it boots right up. lol So I really haven't been into rooting and flashing roms for awhile now so Id thought I give it a try on this phone. What would you say would be best for performance/stability/battery life as far as roms go? Or do you just stick with stock? i do not do a whole lot on my phone and I also don't really use much of the features that came along with the s7 edge. i just use it for light gaming/social media/picture taking. So I guess what I am asking is what is your recommendation?

I'm unsure of Magisk, but I can 100% confirm that cf-autoroot isn't yet viable for Nougat. The most recent version of it will only work for Marshmallow, and trying it with Nougat will soft-brick your device (I learned this the hard way). So cf-autoroot won't work until its devs release a new version for Nougat, sadly.
