Is it possible to change the default clock? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Alright, so I got a galaxy S8 on Sunday (coming from a OP5 which didn't satisfy me at all) but I just can't figure out how to change the default clock.
I set up my alarm using Google Assistant (it's just easier, I first turn off my lights with the Assistant then setup my alarm and I'm done) but it defaults to the Samsung app although I have Google's installed.
Also, I set it at 5.42 so I can snooze it twice and get up at 6 am for University, except the default snooze is set at 5 minutes (against my defaultI9 minutes) and I can't snooze it more than twice (the only option I then see (after two snoozes) is to disable the alarm).
How am I supposed to change it to Google's clock or change settings in the app?
Thank you guys and have a good one!

You can set snooze details when you create the individual alarm to whatever you want...

Using Clock with Dated Alarm

Guys,
Is it me or is there no way to set a smart alarm on the SGS for a particular date?

It's only a "smart" alarm, not a "prodigy" or "genious" alarm.
I think you're stuck with setting alarms for a week ahead at most. Unless there's a way to make a calendar entry trigger a smart alarm in some way.
Thanks..... Just needed to make sure I was not missing something.
Shame though that Samsung did not add an ability to have a 'Smart Alarm' or normal Alarm from inside the Clock App with date selection.
Using the calendar to set an Alarm is nothing and I mean nothing compared to the dedicated Clock Alarm App.

Alarm clock app like the original?

I just switched over to the new CM7 yesterday and am quite happy with it thus far, except for one thing. I really loved being able to set the alarm clock app by spinning the wheel to the correct number on the original ROM. I'm guessing this was part of the Sense UI setup. Is there any alarm clock app that has something similar? I've downloaded a couple and though obviously the widgets and UI differ, they've all had the same boring + - to change the times. Thanks in advance
yeah, the spinning is part of the sense ui. but now that you bring it up, one thing i miss is being able to use music to wake up to, instead of 'beep beep beep'. i don't want to have to download another alarm to have that :-(
If you use Handcent SMS You can set Music to the Alarm. It allows you to set music to just about all your ringtone & Notifications.
I know it's not ideal to download another alarm app, but there are two small ones in the market (I'm talking kilobytes) that are awesome. "Good Morning" can wake to music with text-to-speech telling you the time, weather, news, etc. AppAlarm can wake you to Pandora or any number of other apps as well. Both work amazingly.

Alarm time (widget) not refreshing

hi, I hope this is the right sub forum to post my issue.
The digital clock widget is set on my home screen. When changing the alarm time to a specific time the widget is correctly displaying the time when the alarm goes off. Although when I change the alarm time for a second time, the widget is not refreshing the time - not even after hours. If the widget is resized it refreshes.

Delete it and readd the widget, if there was an update that can tend to break certain features/functions.
Thank you, but it doesn't fix the issue.
It happens to me too, when I set off an alarm or enable one, it doesn't refresh the widget. I have to delete the widget and then take it back.
I have the same issue on Galaxy Nexus, stock ROM, android 4.2.2, rooted with Nexus Root Toolkit

I was having this issue and resolved it on my phone by going into:
Security -> Owner Info
and checking Don't show owner info

For those on Android 6 Marshmallow and having Alarm Clock issues...

*** UPDATE *** Alarm Clock Xtreme has finally been updated. So try it at your own risk.
As some of you may or may not be aware, Android 6 Marshmallow now includes the "Doze" feature which puts the phone into deep sleep when not being used and unplugged. Right now at this point, the alarm app I use, Alarm Clock Extreme (I have the paid version), is not working properly. It isn't waking the phone like it's supposed to.
In doing some research, I see that alarms are supposed to call new parameters to be able to bypass "Doze", which will wake up the phone and activate the alarm.
Right now what happens is Alarm Clock Extreme doesn't wake the phone when it's unplugged and left idle all night. When I wake up to (now) another alarm for the time being, and then manually wake up my phone, only then does Alarm Clock Extreme start going off.
This is a serious issue. Most people wake up to their phones nowadays. Luckily I still have an old alarm clock that I use as backup. Four days in a row now Alarm Clock Extreme failed to produce an alarm.
I tried disabling "Doze" for Alarm Clock Extreme (which you can do in Battery Settings), but that had no effect and didn't produce an alarm.
I also went to go install another alarm from the Play Store, but other alarms that I looked at have not fixed the issue yet either according to reviews.
I have since rolled my phone back to Android 5.1.1 and Alarm Clock Extreme is working properly again.
So, if you're having problems with your alarm clock not going off on Android 6, that is why.
Or use the stock clocks alarm function. As a built-in system app it works. It might not be as fancy as some custom alarm apps but it also hasn't failed me a single time.

Thanks for the reply. What is the name of the system app in case it's not included in the ROM I'm using?

DeskClock. And it should be embedded in the rom or gapps you use. If you install it from Play Store it will be installed to the /data partition and then it suffers from the same problem as third party clocks. It needs to be a system app.

Thank you. Hopefully this will help out others until the apps are updated. I'm kind of surprised apps aren't already updated as long as MM has been out and available to developers.

Actually I wonder if it would help to use the Titanium Backup function of "convert to system app" for the third party alarm apps. Could be worth trying.
The easiest way we found to counter this is just to plug the device in and let it charge over night. Doze is disabled when in charge mode.

I think that will only work if the app has been updated with the newer calls to bypass Doze. Still worth a try. I'll do some testing this weekend.

I can usually use my phone for 2 days before charging most of the time. Even more so on Marshmallow since Doze definitely saves battery. Always thought it not so good on the battery to charge your phone every day if it doesn't need to be charged.
But that is an idea also. I hate being back on 5.1.1 already since MM runs so much better on our Nexus 6.

I have never had an issue with doing that. Have been charging at night for over a decade. Never saw a issue with battery. I could never last 2 days with my battery. Signal is terrible here.
launch day nexus 6 on the first wave of orders from the google store ('memba when we had scripts running to alert when the page showed "in stock"? ) and i always keep the phone on its tylt wireless charger. the battery tells the charger when to stop charging and when to start...
anyway, stock never rooted and i use the in built alarm and that works beautifully.
I use the system clock for alarm and it has worked without issues on 6.0.1. Moreover, it let's me put my phone into DND until the alarm goes off...

As mentioned here, since android 6 marshmallow developers need to use a specific function for alarm clocks.
The alarm clock i developed works well on android 6 just like the native alarm clock only that my alarm clock has some extra features:
* A math question to dismiss in case you use to dismiss while you are sleeping. You can also choose the difficulty level of the math question.
* Set unlimited number of alarms (great for heavy sleepers who wants few alerts in a row to make sure they wake up).
* Set alarms in advance for the entire week.
* Use your own personal tone– A music file from the device or a ringtone from the android OS.
And much more
If you want to download it search in the google play "Simple alarm clock marshmallow" and download the alarm
clock of SimpleUXApss or SUXA (Colorful logo with smiling clock ).
I will be happy to here what do you think
I use timely & haven't had an issue even during the developer previews.

In my app drawer, it shows as "clock"
Alarm Clock Extreme was misbehaving for me in that , when on a Qi pad, Pandora ( my selected alarm is start Pandora ) would not start until I took Pandora off Doze. Now it works, even though Alarm Clock Extreme is still on Doze.
Currently I'm using the stock alarm clock until Alarm Clock Extreme is updated. I've been in contact with the devs and they assure that they are working on the problem as quickly as possible.

exactly what i was looking for! two small issues:
1. the alarm creation goes with 5 minutes gaps. can you make an option to set it to a specific time?
2. auto dismiss (without snooze) is one of the most importnat features to me. can you add an option to auto dismiss alarm after 5-15 seconds?
thanks
edit:
there's another small issue where the clock icon appears twice in notification bar.

Thanks. I appreciate that.
About the 5 minutes gap. It's because 99.9% of the users sets the alarm to a minute value which divided by 5 like
7:00, 8:15, 9:30... and not to 6:03, 7:02, 8:26... So why bothering them. Maybe in the future i will let users to decide about it
but for now i have bigger improvements i want to implement so it might take some time.
Crashes for me
I downloaded your app on the S7 Edge and it crashes every time I try to save an alarm.

Stock Calendar snooze duration

Is there any way to edit the snooze duration in the stock calendar app? I was able to choose between different amounts of time before on my S5, but can't seem to find a setting option for the S7 Edge.

I am also looking to change the samsung calendar default reminder time. It appears to be locked down to 5 min and no place to change that default snooze time. I also had an S5 on lollipop and was able to change the default snooze reminder time.
