Hey all! I am embarking in bringing oreo to our device, but i might need help from the more experienced devs in this instance. I have made successful builds of slimrom 7 and crdoid nougat for this device but i just wanted to let you all know that i will be trying this. any support is greatly appreciated!!
Status update
So i am building now(had some directory and cmaction errors i had to get rid of). It is going well and actually building oreo based off of lineageos.
How many people would like an oreo rom for this phone lol?

Keep in mind that Lineage 15 is still actively being developed. For any build errors, you may first want to do a "make clean", "repo sync" then lunch or whatever build method you are using. If that doesn't fix it, look at https://review.lineageos.org/ to see if there is anything related to the error that is pending.

Thanks! i managed to fix that error by adding the full path, but now im stuck at property_get errors
UPDATE: i updated my device, kernel, and proprietary tree to fix that issue. im currently working with lineageos devs via irc on this
New update: i am stuck on development due to xlat errors. im going to try to find another source for my device tree

Its been a couple days and im sorry for the wait but my progress has gotten further. i am building right now and it has been going to 52 percent now. will let you know when i have failed.

The rom did not boot, it kept relooping into bootloader. whats odd is after i restored to slim 7.1 now my device is completely broke. wont even charge anymore
so needless to say, i think that this project will be dead to me unless i get another moto x pure( which i will not be buying) oh well, it had a good run. im sorry guys, if you want me to continue on this project you will have to donate, as i do not have a working device anymore
Fixed
The issue might now be fixed, i took the phone apart and removed the battery and reconnected everything. I went out and bought a samsung note8 yesterday due to this phone being dead and that i have to have a phone for work, so if i did fix this phone i will be able to work on this project more.

Nice! I wonder what happened in the first place? I rarely hear of roms effecting the hardware like that.
I expect to see this ROM fully working long before the XT1575 official 7.0 just saying

There's only one version of the Pure Edition, retail unlocked. Moto is likely rolling out in batches based on IMEI or carrier or whatever they feel like.

Makes sense. Sprint is the crappiest carrier out there so if it's got tons of bugs they won't know whether to blame the phone or the service. LMAO!

from 3 to 10 days its the normal time to get the full firmware released
Check the build prop of that 23.11.38.en.US . It could be lolipop since you already have lolipop on your phone. Or please upload it and I'll check.

I talked to two VZW reps. Neither was able to offer much support. The second actually said that Motorola would be able to help me get the image, and told me to call them.
Called Motorola, and the first rep told me to ask on the Motorola support forums for help. Yes, that's right., they wanted me to ask for the recovery image ON A USER-SUPPORTED FORUM. Genius. The second tech said that my only option was to go do a Factory Reset or go back to 4.4.4, neither of which is acceptable to me. "Well, you can contact Verizon for help."
So now I have a flagship device, bricked by the OTA, and nobody knows how to fix it. Screw you, VZW/Motorola. If you provide updates, you should have recovery firmware images available IMMEDIATELY!

Yeah, I just don't know that I can go 3-10 days without my phone. I'm not sure that I'm capable. I'm not willing to reset my device, though.
You know what? We have a few spare devices lying around here at work. Maybe I'll steal one for a few days
my phne is bricked as well after the ota. although I just did a factory reset a couple days ago so I'd be fine with resetting my device or going back to kitkat... but how would I go about doing that? Ive tried flashing the kitkat firmware and such but i cant seem to figure it out... any help would be appreciated while I wait for vzw to release the new images

I put it back up.
Starting today, we are pleased to begin rolling out the highly anticipated Marshmallow update in the US. As part of this update, Honor 5X will also be receiving EMUI 4.0.
Is there anyway to force update it? Update is not showing up when I manually check in settings.

I think you will end up stuck at boot logo. You'll probably want to return to stock first.
Has anyone received this update yet? Seems like a unicorn.
Hopefully someone will make a twrp flasheable zip right away. If not I will try by flashing stock recovery and see what happens. ?

1. I know the phone does not come with an NFC chip in it.
2. I know this thread is for the MM update that Honor USA is lying about releasing.

Maybe, the person who got it through HiSuite, can check the app data folder on Windows to see if the update is still there. (it's a hidden folder)

My favorite ROM is possibly just hours from being released to the public.
This ROM is typically soooo stable and features tons of customization.
I imagine we'll have to wait for all the usual features to be added.
I mean, it is the FIRST to drop.
This is still a fresh ROM and will likely have some ironing out to be done but that is what the ROM world is all about.

Yes. Seems fine, a little laggy compared to stock imho. And camera is lacking. I went back to stock as I couldn't get the official camera on play store. I've extracted the apk and will test a other day. Lazy.
Seems snappy for me. Got this error FAILED (remote: partition table doesn't exist) when trying to flash the vendor, but it still booted and works fine (gave me a an old vendor error on first boot, but doesn't seem to have affected anything

Camera was as fast as stock pixel for you? Let me see what i can do.
Edit: was gonna upload to apk mirror, but this was already there. Same version as I have.

Haven't tested the stock camera yet, getting around to that, I just flash it, and fixed my vendor issue. Thanks for the link to the APK!

I wonder if I need to flash the vendor if I'm already on NMF26O?
I flashed the full 7.1.1 to both slots. I wonder if I could dual boot this on one slot and stock/root/Elemental on another slot.
EDIT: Just had a thought. Since both slots share userdata, wiping to flash would this rom would wipe my other slot as well. :-/

Just rooted, no issues. I only did fastboot boot boot-to-root.img and rebooted. SuperSu updated upon reboot and everything seems to be running smoothly. I am going to finish setting it up all up later. I'll post again tomorrow after I use it for a bit.

There's not going to be root for the 997 because of sprint locking it down and incrementing arb. The phone is well over two years old so the majority of devs moved on to other platforms long ago and none of the few remaining devs are working on root.

Yeah I understand, but there's lot of people here with the same phone and I'm sure there's a way, maybe with LGUP and UPPERCUT going down to a lower release or using another KDZ from another model very close to it, I'm sure there's something to do instead of trowing it in a garbage can. There a dev here loves challenges and some of them are working on older phone...

You can't downgrade to root because as I stated arb was incremented if you do you'll blow a fuse and be bricked. Also no one is working on root, it's been discussed numerous times on this forum

I don't know what ARB is and when I try the hidden menu, the only thing I got is 4 useless options. If it's not a hardware problem, I'm sure there's one hope somewhere?? If it's hardware, the only way is to put on gargabe can... What Sprint did to brick this phone like this!???

Can the bootloader be unlocked/changed using dirty santa so I can install TWRP, then Lineage 17.1?

No, that version of the phone is completely locked down. The only thing you can do on it is factory reset and absolutely nothing else, not even flashing firmware (because that will permanently brick it). I bought a 2020 Tacoma. The stereo sucks. If you use a USB drive with with thousands of audio files as the source, when you select artist from the menu, it will start at "A" and start playing. Takes forever to find the artist/song . And Toyota decided to pull GPS. You have to download Entune to the stereo, which seems to be incompatible with the 2020. They just threw their hands up and figured everyone will want to use their phone (I don't).
So I bought this phone for $20 so I can leave it the truck at all times to run VLC and Google Maps. Looks like Sprint and Toyota bent us over again.
So I just bought a used Galaxy s10 Plus on eBay. I was getting amazing battery life and great SOT but I was forced to download Android 11 by force update and now my SOT has gone down almost 2.5 hours from when it was previously running on Android 10. I despise having to deal with these issues even though its a used phone. On the SamMobile website I found the correct PDA G975U1UES5GUD1 but I can't find the CSC code on my phone and I am afraid I will flash the wrong firmware and damage the phone.
How can I Find the CSC code on my phone? The device is been used on Verizon prepaid via Red Pocket Mobile and its Factory GSM and CDMA unlocked. I would really appreciate any help I can get with this.

You won't damage your phone if they mismatch, probably only carrier settings would break
But the link I gave according to that you are having Verizon as the carrier and you are living in the US when you got force OTA update then it’ll match.
That's if you can go back.

If he uses Odin he can downgrade fine enough,
Unfortunately, I think he'll lose his data though.
I haven't downgraded from One UI 3.0 before since I only got a A21s.

I'm still running Pie. It's what I've been seeing here about the 11 update updating the boot loader too. Maybe that's OTA upgrades only.
Not a concern of mine though.
Data loss is a given... at least be prepared for it.
Yeah, I agree since I'm still running 10 Idk really about bootloader changes from 10-11.
But if that's the case then Its probably impossible to downgrade without getting a bricked phone.
Doublecheck the bootloader version code of both versions of android so you don't brick your phone.
This is starting to sound too risky I do appreciate everyones help on this post honestly but at this point I am not going to risk messing up a $330 phone. But thank you all for making things clear.

Well, you can wait for the fix then. Maybe Samsung will release a fix to solve that issue

No problem, but if the kernel hasn't changed the ROM can be downgraded. If it has you can just take it to Samsung and ask them to downgrade for you.
My friend did that.
