Hello everyone,
I would like to ask if updating my android 5.1 to 7.1.2 would brick my phone, because I can't install any of the roms since my device(aicp_s3_h560) doesn't match any of the required devices(s3_h560, JY-s3_ADV.....).I know it's possible to change device name or simply modify updater script, repack everything and somehow sign it.
Also. which 7.1.2 rom would you guys recommend? I'm considering lineage
I'm using CWM v6.0.5.1 recovery
EDIT: So i modified script file and just installed madOS. Everything works fine, to restore imei number the only tool that worked was toolhero

i have same problem. did you solve?"
not at all. Trying to find a solution. I think an other root method is needed, cause you can't modify system in /
Switching back to 5.1.1

Problems are solved. If you had installed 6.0.1 by default, use the latest TWRP via Odin, after that, whithout rooting first.
Boot into TWRP, flash latest Update-SuperSU, reboot. You are able to delete Systemfiles without reboot, also activate Adaware.

Hi all,
So I am new to the game, I had an old(ish) phone and attempted to root the device. As some of you might have read on here before, I failed, I thought I had followed all the correct steps. I used the following steps as a guide: (from the unlockr). After attempting to install supersu I was left with a black screen. I can however access my recovery mode in bootloader, the thing is that bootloader is the only thing I can access. I cannot access my moto g4 plus via USB on windows, but for some reason I can access both internal and external memory on a mac. I can see the supersu version, my TWRP etc. I was wondering if someone could help me out, I know this has probably been posted before but I have not been able to find a possible solution as of yet. Thanks in advance
Is your device running stock Nougat (7.0) firmware? If so, then attempting to root on the stock Nougat Motorola kernel may result in a black screen and failure to boot, which appears to be what you've experienced. What those guides generally fail to mention (as they're quite old) is that rooting on the G4/Plus running Nougat requires flashing a custom kernel before you root. Failure to do so appears to trip the anti-rooting measures built into the stock kernel. A more recent guide that I've used for a stable root on a G4 Plus is this https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...de-root-moto-g4-plus-supersu-android-t3587918 Bear in mind you do not need root to flash custom ROMs whatsoever, just TWRP.
If you can still access TWRP, you may have a way out. One thing to try is to flash a custom kernel onto your device - ElementalX is a good choice. https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/kernel-elementalx-g4-0-01-t3424836 for ElementalX v2.0.1 for stock . Download the kernel to your computer, ensure your device is connected to your computer and booted to TWRP, and copy the custom kernel to your device. Try to flash the kernel and then see if your device boots.
If your device still fails to boot, you could try flashing the stock kernel from your backup (you did make a backup before rooting?) or if you're running a more recent OS build, I've uploaded the Feb 2018 and April 2018 security patch stock kernels here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B-GUyOfb8OgzcUl1NUtHYWNIR2M To flash this in general:
a)Download the kernel boot.img to your device.
b)In TWRP, tap Install.
c)Tap Install image at the bottom of the screen.
d)Navigate to where you downloaded the boot.img and select the image file.
e)Target the image to boot (not recovery).
f)Flash, and wipe cache.
g)Reboot and see if that works.
If those don't work, restore your backup if you made one or you may have to re-flash your stock firmware - you do not have to re-lock your bootloader or wipe your device with this re-flash of the stock firmware.
Does your Windows computer have the correct Motorola USB drivers installed on it? https://support.motorola.com/uk/en/drivers
I want to have a Samsung Stock based ROM and a LOS/AOSP ROM on my phone and switch between them, but I can't get it working. I always end up on a bootloop at the S7 Edge logo.
My bootloader and modem is updated to latest version. I wanted to install Hyper ROM and LOS 16.
So I first installed Hyper ROM, downloaded the latest version of Dual Boot Patcher, open it, allow root access, go to ROMs in the app, select my System to set the kernel. Then I go to patcher section, add the LOS-zip, gapps-zip and magisk-zip (does magisk even work with this? have tried without but also no luck) and patch them as secondary. I reboot into recovery, flash patched LOS and gapps, reboot aaaand... I'm stuck at a bootloop.
This seems to happen no matter what I try, how I switch them around, also if I patch the Hyper ROM zip as primary first. Nothing seems to help. Am I doing something wrong here?
Hello,
I unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP recovery and flashed a custom ROM based on Android N on my ticwatch S. Everything works well. But, the OTA update (Android Oreo) failed even if i flashed the stock recovery. The script updater detects that it isn't the original system, it is normal.... I tried to change the script updater deleting all checks, update is still failed. Moreover, I can't retrieve full stock ROM img on the XDA. The only one i found doesn't work (Stucked in bootlooop). Does anybody can backup only partition system with TWRP based on ticwatch S on Oreo and provides me in order to flash it with TWRP?
If you have other ideas, you are welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
PS: sorry for poor English, i'm french guy.....
The problem is this:
I want to root my j500m with magisk via twrp but I would like to know if I can root with my version of android 5.1.1 if there is no problem, or I have to upgrade to 6.0.1 to do the process?
Another thing, that when I install the twrp on my device with android 5.1.1 loads everything well but at the time of powering it clears the operating system of the phone and does not turn on completely, it only stays in the samsung logo and I have to flash the rom of stock to solve it but the recovery returns to stock. The version of the recovery that was installed was 3.0.0-0. I would like to know if it is because I am doing it with android lollipop and I should do it in marshmallow or no matter what version of android you have. Thank you.
use this twrp.and first install Magik apk and flash lastest magisk. zip https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j5/development/recovery-recovery-pro-galaxy-j5-2015-t3728264
And there's no need to update to Android 6 for root
Thanks, but now I have another problem, I just wrote it in the last message of the forum, if you could help me.
Your twrp version is old 3.0.0.0
download this version 3.1.1.1 official
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/j5lte/twrp-3.1.1-1-j5lte.img.tar
and flash use odin.
Thanks friend, I have updated to marshmallow and I have installed the recovery 3.2.1-1 with aroma support, and I have rooted with magisk, now everything is fine.
