I normally keep cell data turned off. When not in WiFi range I turn off wifi, turn cell data on and then wait, sometime for ten or 20 minutes.
Or I can reboot which also wastes time.
Am I missing some setting? Why does this happen?
Thanks

I want my phone to maintain its wifi signal even after the screen shuts off (after 30 seconds) and the device goes into standby mode.
Is there any settings that i must do? Cause i made a search and didnt find it.
Thank You,
Allenzo
my wifi connection always drops after few minutes and then it tries to authenticate again. this happens when i left the phone idle for <3 mins or so and sometimes less. when it tries to aunthenticates back, it takes a longer time than just simply turning off and turning on the wifi back again to get connected.
is this an error or its just the way the phone is? i'd like to keep my wifi connected during some heavy downloads and be able to leave the phone lying somewhere while its downloading..
explainations and help needed..
you not using any power manager apps that turn of the wireless after the screen switches off when left idle ?
And what about wifi sleep policy? But there is problem for me too. I turn it off, but when i disable wifi, and turn it on again, wifi sleep policy settings are again at 15minutes.

i'm using Advanced task killer and Android booster on my phone to kill running apps. however, i did not used them to manage my power consumption. i have not done any settings regarding wifi connectivity on both those apps. But could both these apps be responsible?

my wifi sleep policy setting is set to Never by default. Could it be my router whose causing this issue?
My droidx had a battery saver option that would turn of data after the phone was idle for a few minutes I want to say between 10pm - 7pm or something and once you unlocked the data would automatically turn back on. is there a setting like his on the S3 I can't find it.

No unless you just turn it off manually.
Use Tasker. There is an action that turns data on and off. Just tried it and yep, it turns all data off. Use that action with the "time" trigger. Now, the "idle" part you'll have to figure out yourself.
I guess what you can do is create a profile that's triggered on screen off and then have an if statement that checks if time is between midnight and morning. If it is, have a task wait 5 minutes until screen is turned on. If it turns on, cancel the task. Else, turn off the data after those 5 minutes.
Even manually by disabling the wifi, in the chart of the battery, I see that is always connected, even at night, even when the display is turned off, even when there are no other activities!
How so?

Settings->Connections->Wi-Fi->Menu button->Advanced->Turn "Always allow scanning" off->Hit the thanks button!
I thank you on trust!
This should also consume less battery power or does not change anything?
By changing this I'm now getting about a quarter of a day more. Not a lot but more=better!
Tomorrow I'll know!
Whether you finally wifi turns off completely ... whether the battery lasts longer!
The WIFI locking it manually, is finally off!
Unfortunately I have not noticed improvements with the battery.
But I believe that the increased consumption is due to the data connection.
In fact, if I leave the wifi on, in addition to the data connection, I have a night consumption by about 4%.
If I turn off the wifi and leave the active data connection, I have to consume about 10%

At night, I just turn Airplane Mode on, WiFi on, 3% consumtion.
I will try to turn off the data connection only because I need the radio active to receive any phone calls.
Hey everyone, I've been looking for a solution for this problem since I got the phone and I can't find an answer anywhere. When I am connected to my WiFi at home, and I turn the screen off, about 30 seconds later my wifi and data shut off. I have "keep wifi on when screen is off" set to on. I disabled switch to network with weak WiFi signal. I have factory reset my phone about 5 times and did a warranty clam.
Mine does the same. It just has a very poor wifi antenna I guess.
my LG-V20 does this same thing sometimes its very frustrating.
Settings>battery and power saving>scroll down to "wifi" and move the switch to the right (turn on ignore savings settings) This will tell Android to ignore power saving on wifi and let it operate normally.
