Playing .mp4 movies on the desktop?

Hi,
Apologies in advance if I'm being incredibly stupid here, but has anyone successfully taken video clips using the xda2 camera and played them on the desktop? I've upgraded media player on the desktop to 9, I've installed the latest divx codecs - nothing. Both apps just complain at me.
Many thanks.
Spike.

Hi,
I have not the problems you have both.
But I ´m using QuickTimePlayer. You can get it free at:http://www.apple.com/quicktime/

Editing the Video Files from i-mate
Does any one know how to edit the files, as mentioned above you can play them no worries in Quicktime player from Apple but I want to edit them and plus I need to rotate som of them. there must be a program out there, but which one.
codecs
www.doom9.org
I got Quicktime Pro, it enables me to edit and rotate the moves as I wanted to. But when you save after say rotating the video it save the file as a Quicktime movie file which does not play on the i-mate. Any one know how to play that file on the phone.
Window Media player doesn't recognize.mp4, you could change the capture format to Motion-JPEG AVI. WMP does recognize this type of document. I have experieneced the same problem b4, since i change the capture format, it works perfect on my PC. Regarding the movie making, you could use Window XP's window movie maker. It also recognize the .AVI type of document. Once you import the document to Window Movie Maker, it will automaticall save it to the WMV format, which could be played on your PPC. Hope that helps your guys.

Lost of audio when moving movies from storage card to PC

All,
I have recently captured some videos which I tried to burn onto CD, but first I tried to copy these files onto my PC. However, when I tried to play these with Quicktime, there was only Video with no audio at all. Let alone converting it to mpeg 2 or 3. Does anyone have any idea how I could get around this?
Also, any software I could convert this so I can burn these onto CD using Nero Burn?
Many thanks in advance.
JC
The audio is not lost, it's just a case of a codec not available in Quicktime.
I would very much like to know how to create AVI files (using Windows Mdeia 9 video / audio codecs, or DivX/MP3 codecs) with the camera.
AVI is sooo much easier on the PC platform.

what do i need to do to convert my divx movies for mogul?

I have SPB DVD converter and it works great for me. So what exactly is your issue? Like it doesn't covert properly or in play back the audio is choppy.
Once I convert to AVI/DIVX I always play all my movies using the TCPMP player. You can find it here and download it.
I installed this player on my phone. Checked the file association tabs to play the files I need such as (AVI/DIVX) changed the audio output to Mono Join since our phones don't have Stereo and I'm good from there.
If you want extra volume I suggest looking for SRSWOW HD CAB and installing it with the settings of (headphones and 100% effect on every sliding bar)
This will increase the overall volume of your phone not only the player. This truly helped out because before when I watched a movie the sound would be weak and I was forced to hear it with headphones in an environment where there was a lot of people.

[TUTORIAL] How to fix the crappy sound in some games like NFS Undercover

We all know there's a bug in HD2 WP7, when playing some games, the sound is crappy , but in earphone mode it's OK, strange problem huh?
Games I tried with this problem are
1 Need for speed undercover
2 the sims 3
3 mr. hat and the magic cube(game music is ok, game video sounds are crappy)
i checked the media format of these music and video resources and found the cause: audio encoded with WMA professional 10.x will be crappy when played in speaker.
solution:
1: unpack XAP
2: find audio and video files and check if they're encoded with WMA Professional 10.x, if true, transcode it using WMA 9 encoder. there're free tools to this. BTW,when transcoding the video files, just keep the video stream untouched to retain its orginal quality(direct stream copy), you only need to transcode the audio stream.
3: repack XAP, sign it
Sorry for my poor english , hope this will help

[Q] Android 3 and WMA Video

I have a Samsung S2 and it plays WMA files from BBC Iplayer fine - But the Asus Transformer tab will not play these files and I have seen Android 3 drops support for WMA. Is there any way for me to play iplayer files without the laborious process of converting. I changed the file extension to MP4 and that does not work either.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Seems like the people at BBC have done something to stop conversion. If I download for portable device and copy to my android Sansung Galaxy s2 it plays fine. Try to play on main PC - picture slow and audio out of sync.
