Seems like reasonably no matter what keyboard I use it gets cut off so if I try to use the cursor to specifically delete something it's covered up about half and impossible to grab.

Just discovered nice little touch on PIE (you may all know it already). When in full screen mode the "Volume Slider" works as an up/down scroll bar (sadly only jumps from link to link).
I only discovered this cos I am trying to find a way to get true scrolling in PIE, instead of it TABBING from link to link. In most instances this is fine, but a real pain if there are hundreds of links at the top of a web page. Any advice?
Sorted - Real Page Down Scrolling
Sorted it, found on another forum. Change PIE Scrolling from TABBING to normal PAGE DOWN/PAGE UP.
Edit registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\4-Way Nav
Change Value from 1 to 0.
Also works when in FULL SCREEN with the VOLUME SLIDER.
Sweet hack.
That's one for the Wiki IMO
nice one dude! Implemented it straight away.
This hack was included in Tweaks2k2 a long time ago (option Internet Tricks/PIE Smooth Scrolling).
Wish there was a way of scrolling smoothly, line by line, and not by a full screen at a time... :?:

Hmm. I know it's a matter of personal preference but I quite like the link-to-link scrolling. It seems smart enough (i.e. if there are links on a page then it scrolls through them, but if the page has no links then it goes page-by-page). It means I can view a webpage and navigate the web without taking out the stylus to tap the screen. I just wish I could read long news articles line-by-line (or even halfscreen-by-halfscreen) rather than jumping entire pages with only 10 pixels overlap.

Guys, quick tip. This has really improved my text-entry experience, especially in apps that don't do the auto-correct like the browser etc..
Settings->Locale & Text->Touch Input->Text Input->Calibration tool
After doing this it seems to be more "in tune" with my finger
I don't have that Tool under Text Input; odd.

post your ROM version; is your hero carrier branded?
sigh; I must be dreaming. It's there after all, sorry.
I would swear that it woudn't scroll down to it just now, when I checked, but that seems unlikely
thanks again...
oh! I was half-right: when the phone is rotated into landscape orientation, the calibration options are no longer present.
weird.
interesting; I've long had the opinion that the word guessing was better in portrait mode than in landscape, but just assumed that was my fault. Mebbe not...

Uhm... why does Android do that? That's a design decision I have no clue about but only Google knows the answer.

It took me a couple of weeks, but I ended up using practice.
Typing tweaks
I would say that the best typing tweak is to calibrate the screen the way you naturally using it.
So, if your finger touches the screen under some angle while you type, calibrate that. (think of a cross as a letter and touch it under the same angle).
If you type with two hands, calibrate the left side with the left hand and vice-versa.)

For me, disabling keyboard vibration made it much more accurate than by default (and I really hate the keyboard vibrating too)
Grtz,

As suggested i have calibrated my HD2 screen, and now i feel much more comfortable than ever before. Thanks for the advice.
i did a few things.. used b2b tweak to decrease the sensitivity.. as my touch keys were all over the place.. disabled touch vibration on everything! including on sms keyboard. now can type with both thumbs at quite fast speed little errors
the best "tweak" (by far) to get the best typing experience on an HD2 is to install swype.

is it possible to calibrate the hd2 to more than 1 finger?
I already have a cab installed that tweaks/ reduces the HD2's screen sensitivity to make typing a bit easier but this is till not good enough.
Typing on the HD2's keyboard is a nightmare as at the slightest touch, it presses unwanted keys as well as neighboring ones, sometimes more than one.
Is there a way to further reduce the screen sensitivity maybe via the registry and/or also to apply a touch input delay?
Thanks very much in advance for the advice!
Yes I am still finding the typing experience a bit of a pain. I hate to say it but it's nowhere near as good as typing on one of those funny Apple touchscreen phones......

Yeap, exactly... the funny Apple touchscreen phones (I have one that I dislike immensely) feature a smaller screen and also smaller/even more crapped-up keyboard, BUT, I type much better there with a fraction of the mistakes i make on the HD2. Why is that? There has got to be a solution... it almost just feels the HD2 is just too fast.. before you want to key in anything, at the slightest touch, you already did!!!!

Tried that one a while ago, I ran the screen alignment util whilst holding the phone portrait in my left hand whilst touching the screen with the right index finger. Still not as problem free as typing on the smaller apple screen....
ive tested both the bsbtweaks 'decrease screen sensitivity' tweak, and the stand alone sensitivity tweak in the hints and tips thread, and (certainly for use with swype) the bsbtweaks one does a better job.

What about the tap time tweak in bsb tweaks? I thought that would apply more to the keyboard it self.

Thanks for the response. I like my screen sensitivity as it is presently. Is there any cabs or tweaks specific to the keyboard only as far as decrease sensitivity?
I was watching a video on YouTube about the phone and I saw that the guy has a comma between the setup button and the space bar. I do not have it and I found no option.
PS: I have a theme applied that's why the keyboard looks flat.

Really that's a mystery...
No comma
Press and hold your settings button and a pop up will open so that you can select a comma or emoticons or other things ?

This I know but it's not what I want.
As you can see from others' screenshots, I want an extra comma button between the gear button and the space bar.

If you are able to change the dpi, try lower dpi. My dpi is at 460.
I don't think the guy in the video has non standard dpi
By the way, do you have problems with these dpi
