Has anyone received the update?

I just updated my unlocked S8 plus. Once Bixby updated I got the settings symbol and it gave me the option to turn off the button. This is great.

Yup, I got it, and it works as advertised.

The same thing with turn off switch. But after I switched it, in the first nothing happened, in the second this switch disappeared. The bixby button still starts it (((

on screen off the bixby button still waking up the phone .. even after switched of on updated setting.

Bixby Home version 2.0.03.3.

I installed the apk, saw the option from the pull down and after enabling it, it disappeared. Not in the settings either and although I selected to disable it,it isn't working.

go to bixby home and press the settings logo on top right the option to disable the button will show up directly , dont go into bixby settings just press the settings logo in bixby home

Still wakes te phone accidentally when I pull it off my pocket. Well, it's half fixed at least, but I see Samsung's point: why would we need a button there which does nothing. .

I've had it disabled completely (pressing button does nothing, ever) since June. Just use BK package disabler (no root required) to disable ALL bixby related apps.

AnyUnlock: An app to treat N1's power button problem (no root required)

Before developoing this app, I am using
1. Nolock
2. Flyscreen
3. lock widget
in order to
1. use any key to turn the phone on
2. use widget to turn off the phone
3. Use flyscreen to prevent the accident tap
However this combination is huge and invenient. So I deciced to develop a very small app (40k in size) it can
1. Use any key to turn on the phone
2. A widget turn phone off
3. A very simple lock screen to prevent accident tap.
Search AnyUnlock in Android Market and enjoy it. If there are any porblems, please report.
i like it!
perhaps you should include an option to enable or disable the 'lock screen to prevent the accidental tap.'

Yes, I will do that in next version.
It didn't work for my N1. I enabled the app, brought me to the 2nd window where I also enabled it and let the phone shut down and nothing, I had to use the power button to turn the screen back on. Back to nolock.
It was the way I installed it, working now but after installing gingerbread the trackball wake no longer wakes the screen, have to use the volume key. Still very effective but like the trackball wake.

Yes, there is a bug. If you don't allow the admin permission in the first time. The program will fail. You can disable it, uninstall it and reinstall to take effect.
I also couldn't pick up on an incoming call... it just went to the screen which shows the enable/disable anylock buttons. I couldn't press home or back. Uninstalled it for now.

I have updated to 1.2 with the option to disable simple lock screen. Also I tried to fix your phone call issue. Hopefully it is working.
OK 1.3 released with fixes to some non-n1 devices.
Works fantastic. After enabling the app I went back into settings and unchecked the lock screen. Now it works just the way I wanted. Thanks for the great app.

You can have a try. The power button is quite vunerable for HTC devices. I hope Android would make an official option to power on the device using any keys.
works brilliantly now! thanks.
maybe you should put in the description in the market that no root is required.
and an option to still use the slider when unlocking? that would be my favorite option.
just pressing the track ball brings you to the unlocking screen with the slider.
This is super awesome, thanks for making this!
Curious, what specific activity does the widget call? I would like to be able to shut the screen off using other things (dock swipe up, tasker, custom widget) etc. is it an android acitivity or one that is specific to AnyUnlock?
I tried each of the 4 or 5 activities in AnyUnlock but they didn't work.
Thanks for making this!

Just updated to Gingerbread on N1 and the trackball doesn't wake anymore, but volume button still works.
I can also confirm the trackball doesn't work to wake the screen up, but the volume buttons still do.
Hopefully the trackball wake issue will be resolved for gingerbread.

Yup, I noticed this also with other apps that disable the lockscreen (like Switchpro)
That's too bad.
No Lock too from what another user has stated. There's no way i'm changing from CM7 if there's no possibility of trackball wake!
Does this app just Wake the N1 or does it power ON a device which is powered off ?
I can already wake via the trackball using CM6 , but I need something which will Power it ON as my power button is broken.

Slightly wet the button area, now the home button keeps triggering non stop. Everything else works fine.
Ive tried the following solutionsb
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/guide-oneplus-2-home-button-dead-t3324321
Phone is currently sitting in a bag of rice so let's see how that goes.
Meanwhile, can anybody think of a way to disable the home button (perhaps through terminal or something)? Because the phone would basically be usable.. I know there are button settings, so if only I could somehow put home button as "no action".

The thing is the constant pressing of home button makes me not able to navigate anywhere.
The only place I can actually do something is in recovery, because the home button doesn't actually do anything.
If there's a way I can enable it in terminal in recovery mode that would be great.

Hope the moisture dries out and your fingerprint reader starts working normally
Tip of advice for everyone who has problems with the fingerprint reader after it got wet or started to get crazy for any weird reasons at all.
Drain the phone battery until it dies. Then try to boot it up to drain even the last power in it.
Then recharge the phone.
By draining the battery and recharghing it you reset the phone's sensors.
Be lucky some of you aren't living in a country like me where the weather is moist all the time. I had to do this method thrice this week ??

Disable Bixby Vision Pop-up In Camera?

Has anyone figured out how to disable the obnoxious notification to enable Bixby Vision every time you open the camera app??
It doesn't seem to matter how many times I close it, it continues to pop up every time I open the camera.
The popup doesn't show anymore after you actually try it. Worked for me.

Did you take any software updates yet since getting the phone? I'm just curious if BK Disabler will still work properly after taking the update that killed the Bixby button remap.
I was using BxActions to remap the button, but I knowingly took the update (TMobile) anyhow. It would be nice to disable Bixby completely, maybe this Disabler you used is the way to go.
I think the phone downloaded an update during setup but so far I'm good to go. Maybe those updates are Carrier-specific? I'm on Verizon. If my Bixby button remap gets killed I'll let everyone know.
The BK Package Disabler still works on my Verizon S8+, even after today's update. I don't know about the key mapper.
I bought PD Pro this AM and tried disabling Bixby Vision. It made the camera crash every time I opened it. I restored it ok. Now I am going to try the "use it once" method that I missed the first time.
What about disabling the popup when you go to view photos in the gallery? That still seems to have the popup, even after using it once.
Still can't rid my phone of this annoyance ..Ridiculous !!!

I'm not sure how, but I'm no longer getting the popup. Been at least 4 days since I last had it when opening the camera app. Never actually tried out the feature either. Maybe it just stops after so long? I'm not sure.
If you go through the prompt to start the bixby vision you're then agreeing to all their sharing terms which I don't want to do.
Additionally it's bringing up this little dot on every picture in my gallery and if you click the dot it wants to launch the bixby thing again. This is soooo annoying

It's VERY easy to disable the popup.
Long press anywhere on the homescreen, then swipe left and you will see a little slider to turn bixby on/off.
Just select OFF and voila.....no more annoying bixby popup in the camera app!!

I'm ok with it, mainly because eventually we will get to remap it to whatever we want. There are bixby apps out right now, but they don't work 100% for me and bixby sometimes comes through.
I do think the phone needs some getting used to after switching to it coming from the Nexus 6p. Mostly cause the Nexus is huuuge

I just disabled the bixby apk's. Actually I left one that wasn't disabled as I read somewhere you needed to leave one running, but I used package disabler pro to disable the rest. That way the bixby button does nothing when pressed. Until Bixby is mature enough to be usable, I would rather not have the button do anything. I use google now for my voice assistant if I need a voice assistant (mainly for looking up an address while driving, although I can send a text via voice or other things like that). If Bixby gets updated to where it would be worth it to use then I may re-enable the bixby button and apk's.
all the time, especially when im trying to use the volume buttons as a shutter for the camera.

Never
Maybe because I'm left-handed ?
I have my Bixby button remapped to the flashlight but would rather it not be there. Everyone seems to want it remapped to okay google but all you have to do is say okay google.

Package disabler pro, disable everything bixby
Yes. I tend to mistake the bixby button for the volume down key.
And I still hate the fingerprint scanner placement!
It was posted earlier in this thread that all you have to do is use package disabler pro and disable the Bixby apk's. It is really easy. Yes, you have to pay for package disabler pro in the play store.
At this point Bixby has straight up given up trying if I accidentally press the button.
I have it remapped to Google Now for now.

I removed Bixby completely!!

I was searching around on how to remove the stock junks and found this thread that shows how to uninstall apps by using adb commends. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/how-to-remove-oem-bloatware-s8-s8-t3654687 ) And I just got rid of anything that has bixby in it....
Bixaction was not working properly at the moment, so I thought I'd give a try and yes, it did seem to work. Now bixby is gone. Swiping to the left and pressing the button does nothing. One drawback is it completely killed the button, too which I'd love to
keep and remap it to something useful. Removed some stock app as well. Restarting the phone has no issues. Now I wonder if there's anyway to make that dead button work again
Thx w2830 It's a great idea, I removed bixby and other stuff
Here another turorial : https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
Don't hate the Bixby. It doesnt support my language at the moment but i believe it has some future.
By the way, does remapping app work?
After removing what I did, no. BixAction stopped working which makes sense. I have some ideas in my head and will be testing them out
Ohhhh. You are better off disabling them thru the working app than removing completely. If u decide you need them later, you end up having to reset your device vs 1 click re enable. Bxactions beta is case in point. He now has it working better. Now you need the voice piece to use it.
Your phone, your choice.

just reinstall bixby voice. its the only module needed for bx actions to communicate with the bixby service/button
or flash back stock. learn your lesson in disabling a package instead of removing it and then just leave Bixby voice untouched.
