While flashing the phone through odin the phone failed on the system image. The firmware file is valid as it has been flashed previously with success. when the phone was rebooted again in download mode the PC will chime as if it can detect the phone at the warning screen although it isnt seen in device manager. as soon as I press Vol+ to continue the computer will say that the phone is an unknown device. No phone is present in device manager still and no error code returned to see what may be causing the connection issue. Along with that the smart switch screen appears rather then showing the usual screen that says Downloading.
No access to recovery or anything else as the phone immetiatly shows the smartswitch screen. When booted normaly the smartswitch screen is also accompanied by no response via usb to show connection not even the previously mentioned Unknown device error to indicate that the computer is even noticing a usb connection at all. All drivers are current.

Hi,
looked for an answer to this problem in the forum but didn't find it, i have a stock xperia play, sim free running gingerbread 2.3.2 and i'm based in the uk and have a uk handset. My problem is although i am offered the 2.3.3 update, when i try to get it i get stuck at the preparing phone stage on pc companion software, the phone switches off then the software tells me to disconnect USB cable from pc and phone, then it tells me to check battery power level(phone is off?) is at least 50% (it is 80%)then says turn the phone off? leave for 5 seconds then plug back in whilst holding the back hardware button. After this the computer does 3 beeps (normally error noise) and i have to do this all again, don't see anyone else having problems updating? your help would be greatly appreciated.
Use SUSE! Should work just fine.
USe another computer if it doesn't work
and yes try http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...etailed/updateservice/xperia-play?cc=gb&lc=en
Before asking for help
i have narrowed it down to the computer not recognising the phone when it is off(blue light mode) i looked at device manager, says there is no driver for S1boot fastboot?
driver are on program files > sony ericsson > pc companion > driver 32/64bit
check there and install them manually
or check the pc companion in sony ericsson menu on your phone and connect your phone and press install
then install pc companion and let it do his work installing the driver.
check my mtpapp thread if you need more detail
don't clear mtpapp (your apps should be ok btw)
Tried everything now, still nothing happens after i plug in usb cable whilst holding the back button, what is actually supposed to happen after this point, i get the blue light, nothing else.

When the light goes blue, you are connected in either bootloader or recovery mode. If your device is not detected, go to device manager and install the drivers manually
Sorry double post
Are you connecting the phone via a USB hub?
If you have many usb ports on your pc being used, try to disconnect a few and plug the phone directly to your pc.
I had this same issue and it happened because my stupid logitech keyboard keeps messing with my usb drivers everytime i plug in a new USB device.
I unplugged the keyboard and the update went swiftly.
In order to enter flash mode, you ought to:
1)switch off the phone
2)remove the SIM card and sdcard (this is mandatory!),
3)remove the battery for 5 seconds, then put it on.
4)hold the Back button while you connect the device.
The device will shine with a green light. The blue light is used for the Fastboot mode, and you get that light if you:
1) Switch off the device
2) Hold the Search button (the magnifying glass one)
3) connect the device to the USB cable.
Hi all, thanks for your help but still no luck, i have tried all of the above on 2 computers, the same problem occurs, not sure what is supposed to happen when i plug the USB into the phone whilst holding the back button during update? all i get is a blue light on the phones power button. Nothing appears on the pc either??? i have done a full factory reset and tried installing drivers, is there a specific driver for entering the recovery mode on xperia play?
Sony Update Issues
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
Note: We have seen in some forums that customers unlocking the boot loader on their phones have experienced problems when they accept a FOTA (Firmware upgrade Over The Air) update. The issue has been reproduced and we are working on a solution. For customers that have unlocked the boot loader please do not accept the Firmware upgrade OTA.
Hi
As many people here i've encountred a problem with fota while being using a rooted ROM (g.lewarne ROM)
Now my phone is bricked. I can't go into recovery nor Download mode. I only have the LG logo for moments with error: secure booting error!
cause: boot certification verify
When i plug my phone it is not recognized in the hardware manager. I've already installed Drivers.
All i have in the hardware manager is a new hard under name QHSUSB_BULK that needs driver.
I have just one hope to get my phone alive, by reconizing it again by my computer, then maybe i can go under download mode.
I've tried everything but nothing could work without download mode.
PS: I've made a hard reset, which was maybe a silly decision.
By the way, after installing the OTA my phone went into CWM Recovery, it was detectable by adb, i used adb to reinstall TWRP, then i used command
"adb reboot download" instead of "adb reboot recovery", then i had never seen the CWM recovery again, only the mentioned above error.
After few seconds my phone screen goes black but the phone is still on since i can see light at the corners of the phone.
and it is not reachable by adb.
It makes me crazy now.
once i plug it to the computer it gives me plenty drives to format and one drive with only one folder inside called image, only readable, with many files inside.
Could you please help me to get my phone alive?:crying:
I am new to posting, but I have followed XDA for a long time and used it to install custom ROM's on other phones. However, I now have a problem with my wife's Samsung Galaxy GT-S5360L. I have searched for hours, but can not find a solution.
The phone is stuck in a boot loop. I can enter stock recovery mode. When I try to perform a factory reset, I get the following message:
E:format folume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl11
formatting /cache
Data wipe complete
After wiping the cache partition, the phone continues to be stuck in the same boot loop after reboot (Samsung logo appears on screen, followed by animation, back to Samsung logo).
The phone will not enter into download mode. When I press power+volume down+home, I see a white screen, followed by a black sreen, followed by another white screen. the suggested method of removing the battery, SIM, and SD card, and plugging into the computer while holding both volume buttons does not work. Odin will not recognize that the phone is connected.
I tried to connect the phone to two different computers. One runs Linux mint with Windows XP on a VM. This computer has always worked for flashing ROM's to other phones. Odin would not recognize the phone, and I received messages that the device was not properly installed.
I then tried to connect the phone to another computer with Windows Vista. This PC has Kies installed and Samsung drivers. Kies would not connect to the phone, and I also received messages that the device was not properly installed. Odin would not recognize the phone. I should note that the phone has interfaced with this computer sucessfully before.
This phone has never had a custom recovery or ROMs installed. It only has the original stock ROM. Is the phone's hardware defective, or can it somehow be fixed? Please post any links to threads that I may have missed. Thanks.
Download mode is only effected by a change in bootloader normally by Flashing incompatible firmware or a hardware fault
For flashing via odin kies is not required - its useless as it's not compaitable with the galaxy y for this purpose
You just need the Samsung USB drivers available from my firmware thread (links in signature)
It maybe possible to still flash the device
Once USB drivers installed
Enter download mode
Connect USB to pc
When the white screen appears push Vol up
Wait a few seconds
Open odin
Put the 3 firmware files in their places & flash
If it doesn't flash you will either need to flash a new bootloader via a jtag (repair shop) Or replace the motherboard - either way unless you can get it done very cheap it's more economical to buy a new phone
Thank you marcussmith2626 for your sound advice. The phone is working again. I will share the problems I solved in order to flash the stock ROM. Hopefully this will help anyone else that may have a similar problem.
The Samsung USB drivers had been previously installed on my PC running windows vista. I installed the drivers so that I did not have to use the bloated Kies software. However, when I tried to connect the corrupted phone to the PC via USB, it was not recognized, even though the correct drivers were installed. Below is the procedure I had to follow in order to connect the phone:
1. I connected the phone to the computer via USB. The phone had the battery installed and was powered off. After connecting to the computer, the phone started charging (battery icon on screen). Connecting in download mode at this point did not work. The phone must be powered off.
2. When the "found new hardware" notification box appeared, I had to make a note of each device that had been discovered.
3. I then had to open Device Manager from the control panel and find each device (the name in Device Manager matched the name in the new hardware notification).
4. I right clicked on each unknown device and selected "update driver software"
5. In the next menu, I selected "Browse my computer for driver software"
6. In the following menu, I selected "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer"
7. This brought up a list currently installed drivers. I selected the Samsung phone driver.
8. The driver then installed for the selected device..
9. Steps 2 through 9 were repeated for each new device discovered by Windows (each device listed in the "found new hardware" dialog).
10. I started the phone in boot mode (power+home+volume down, phone still connected to PC). I saw only a white screen. However, when I pressed the volume up button, the phone connected to the PC. Odin recoginized the phone and the stock ROM was flashed.
So, even if you only see a white screen, download mode can still be active. In my case, the drivers on the PC were not working correctly, probably due to the corruption of the original stock ROM. The drivers can only be added on my PC using the above method. The option to choose from a list of currently installed drivers was not available from the found new hardware wizzard.
Also, I will also say for reference that in the USA, the stock ROM from Brazil is the one that should be used so that the phone broadcasts on the proper GSM frequencies.
Hello guys, my friend give me Galaxy A3 A300F. This device has many issues.
1. Device stuck on black screen with text "Samsung Galaxy A3" in middle & "Powered by android" in bottom. (I'm talking about the very first screen)
2. After 20 minutes, it proceeds to coloured samsung logo animation and boots up.
3. I noticed that it heats up during booting process & after too.
4. After boot up, it will restart automatically after few minutes.
5. If it holds up after booting for few minutes, i tested whether my computer detects it but i got no signal. I check it under DEVICE MANAGER and i found nothing. (With & without USB debugging enabled)
6. When i connect it to computer, the device start charging but there's no notification of USB plugged in.
7. I dial up *#0808# or whatever to configure usb settings to USB + ADB. Still there is no connectivity.
8. No IMEI found.
9. I put it in DOWNLOAD mode and connect it to PC but still there is no detection.
10. The still have access to stock recovery but no sign of detection. No adb devices found.
11. And ofcourse, ODIN did nothing.
I think that if somehow, PC detect it, then i'll do something.
Now, if you guys have any method left, plz share it. I'm so interested to fix this device. Waiting for your messages.

First thing that you need to do is to talk with your friend if he has a valid warranty and tell the problems to him.
Method 1 (if he can't fix it, then it's your time to make a difference)
If you ever get the connection, try to google as fast as possible on how to install the stock rom for the A300F to your device (if you need any help, I will... just toss me a ???PRIVATE??? message and...yeah :good: )
Just try, it's always good to try and since this is the socail era, you have help just everywhere in the internet
I installed TWRP on my tablet two months ago, and after it finished loading Odin3, the computer showed success, but the tablet could not be turned on. I tried to rerun a month later and got stuck. I unplugged the cable and I saw the"An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software"error, and a line in red that said "VOLTAGE Level [2599]". I use Smart Switch's emergency recovery, but it doesn't detect my device. Does anyone have a way?
