Hello dear fellow users of Xperia X Xompact.
I am currently using OMNI rom mod, with TWRP, bootloader unlocked - and as for ROM itself it's not too bad but Camera app is terrible, nearly impossible to record any videos (screent shuttering, performance problems).
I have installed Google camera app from Google store - any time I open video mod: app crashes saying that application could not connect with camera. In general I am very dissapointed withc picutres quality and both apps does not really give my muhc options to improve that.
So, my idea was to get Sone stick camera installed on this rom. Any of you guys know if and how I could find it ? I took time to look up for it myslef but found nothing really interesting. I don not know if this is even possible. I am willing to go back to stock image, as currently this phone's camera is pretty juch useless.
Any help is welcomed

Hey,
Now that alpha 4 is out, I'm curious to know what xposed modules you are using and on what rom.
I'm new to Sony so I'm first getting to know my phone, before trying to customize it. The only module currently installed is true silent mode, on stock rooted 5.0.2.
What about you ?
20MP Superior Auto

Do any of these modules enable vibration intensity control as it's not available in stock lollipop.

I haven't found that option in any of the xposed modules I have installed. By the way, I've installed GravityBox LP, it works just fine

How is the 20mp superior auto? Any reason why this option isn't available for stock? Does it put a strain on the hardware or something?

Took this picture yesterday. Works like a charm!
As to why this isn't a stock feature: I really don't know. It doesn't really put any extra strain on the phone performance-wise... At least, not that I noticed.
I have some noon questions, please be kind tried to find out answers on the forum but there is so much old & new information mixed up..
1) Is unlocked bootloader necessary for Xposed to install on lollipop?
2) Is bootloop really fixed now?
Thanks

Hello
I got tired waiting for an official fix, so I came up with this workaround.
twrp-flashable_OPX2.2.0_camera_patch.zip - This zip with apply the OPX front camera configuration.
twrp-flashable_OPX_camera_patch_imx214.zip - This zip will apply the OPO rear camera configuration
You'll be able to record 1080p at night without worrying about the fps drop issue.
I am not responsible for any damage on your device when applying this patch.
EDIT: Added a revert flashable zip.
EDIT2: Added zip file with imx214 libchromatix_default_video.so
Sweet. Thanks
Swapped my Recent and Back buttons.
Edit:
A couple reboots might've fixed this, but I also messed with Gravity Box a bit as well. There's two options to fixing that problem, potentially.

This patch shouldn't mess with buttons layout. You might had a pending operation that took effect on reboot when you flashed this zip.
try hydrogen os.
does your phone need to be rooted or will it work fine with stock?
Does this patch works also with custom roms like cm13?
Sorry. This patch is for default camera only? Or its for any camera apps running on oss 2.20?
It works perfect now, thank you so much for this mod. Where did this libs came from?
Shame on One Plus btw.

No... Except for the Java root built into some ROM's, but it isn't stand-alone so you can't just apply it to other ROMs. There used to be Superuser, but it was dropped back around Jellybean or KitKat I believe

Well, some apps don't work because of the SafetyNet API, not because of root itself... Root has no effect on those apps working or not, but it does cause the SafetyNet API to fail it's "modified device" check. Magisk has Magisk Hide, which gets around this check most of the time, but SafetyNet API is always being updated (and is a mandatory part of Google Play Services) so it's the old cat & mouse game of who can stay ahead of who.
The best thing you can do is NOT USE GAMES that force you to have unmodified device, and let the developer know why you are not going to continue to use their game, maybe they will get it eventually. Financial and some security apps I understand why they have this requirement.
The issue here is that some apps and services just will not be available to rooted devices, and it will be more and more as time goes on. Enthusiasts like us have a minimal impact on the Android market, especially for apps, so we will just be shut out as time goes on. Unfortunately, that is just the way the industry is going.
Eventually root will be a thing of the past, in fact many hobbyists have abandoned it already because it just isn't worth the hassle and loss of features of the device.

You don't... you reinstall them. And if the app follows the Marshmallow and later standards, it stores it's config in your Google Account. Or you use ADB to back them up (which has never really worked too well for me though).
Times are changing, we still have root, but there is a cost to it, some apps will not work, some need to have root hidden (ie. Magisk Hide).
The situation is only going to continue to get worse as time goes on...

You can uninstall Magisk or SuperSU, both have the capability within them. If it was preinstalled with your ROM, it might not be possible though.
If you want a custom ROM without root, look at GZ Rom's (Tesla, Tipsy, Validus) or some of the others.

Stock Nougat will be coming though, have patience, but if the current setback rumors are true we are looking at a minimum of 30 days.
My go to ROM on any device is Resurrection Remix, followed by any Ground Zero ROM (usually Tipsy or Validus), and then Dirty Unicorns. Take your pick I guess...

Install Resurrection Remix(read the thread), it has magisk fully working.
In this rom is still one big bug - if you want use gestures you have to change cpu governors to impulse(before turn on ambient display/moto gestures).

The "Best ROM" is subjective. You won't get a universal answer.
Some people will say Dirty Unicorns is the best.
Some will say Lineage, RR, Validus is the best.
It's a matter of what you're looking for and if it suits your needs. Remember that Nougat ROMs are still a little buggy.
Only way to see if it's a ROM is the "best" for you is to try them all and see which one you feel is the best.

You could go for Marshmallow ROMs but now that active dev on Nougat is a thing, I don't see why you shouldn't make the jump. Get RROS or AOSPA (Which are maintained atm, unlike LineageOS) Please read the whole OP and use the latest update. surdu posts intrustions but if you ignore them some features won't work. Make a backup of your stuff (either Nandroid or just copy your files) to another device that's not affected by your phone

Try 720p. The camera on this phone doesn't make a difference beyond 720p anyway... It's not even worth the extra file size.
I wonder what is best custom rom for x compact since tried some roms (omni rom 8.1, lineage rom 14.1 and k.e.m rom 7.0 ) but noone was any good i mean camera flickering, or so... so far im using rooted 8.0 with drm fix but it feels like i need some tweaks or performace cause that old man needs a new coat once in a while... what are your thoughts? maybe i can put sume safe tweaks on performace side of 8.0, it's kinda sluggish now but still better than these roms in my opinion
