Wrong automatic time zone - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Since my s7 edge was updated to android nougat, the time zone is wrong.
I'm in Argentina with Telecom Personal operator, I've already called them but they don't seem to understand.
When my phone is restarted I get three hours ahead of my time zone (Buenos Aires is -3 GTM). If I make a call, the hour will automatically correct itself, but I don't want to be forced to call someone everyone I wanna restart my phone only to have the right time, its nonsense!
I'm fixing it by setting the time manually but it's not the ideal. I really can't believe this issue!
Any ideas?

My girlfriend's S7 edge had the same issue. Finally figured it out, hopefully this helps you. Go to settings -> date and time -> select time zone, then make sure it is set to your time zone. For some reason when hers updated the other day it changed the time zone.

Yes I did that, but does it stays the same when restarting? On automatic?
Because the issue is when you restart on automatic. For me it changes to 0 GTM all over again

I suggest you take a look at your csc. When updating to nougat, the csc maybe using the wrong operator and it is over riding your sim card which shows and connects to the correct time zone.

Yes, after setting the time zone, setting back to auto and rebooting it stays the correct time.

Setting the correct time?

I can't seem to get my cingular 8125 to get the correct time when I choose the time zone. It is an hour behind when I select central time and when I change it manually it sets itself back an hour a day or two later. It use to work fine when I was still on the east cost. Is there anyway I can set the time permantly? It is really annoying since I use it as my alarm clock. Thanks
For different areas, change the time zone and not the time.

also check to see if you have selected summer time too!!
Sounds like maybe you have a 2.24 ROM? (kinda hard to tel!) If so, remove the checkmark from Network Time in the Phone settings.
yeah I have the 2.24a rom and I can't find the network time checkbox in the phone options. Also I did change the time zone, time zone is an hour off
Anybody? is there a quick fix or do I have to flash to another rom? Thanks.

Help me brainstorm - time zone issue

This is really starting to piss me off. I live in Arizona. My phone is set to Arizona time but randomly, and I can't find a pattern, It'll change me to Central time, therefore changing my clock two hours ahead. If I change it manually to the correct time (the time zone part is grayed out so I can't change that), then later it'll randomly change my clock to two hours behind. I can't figure out how the hell to make it stop. I did a search on here and found out that a few people have had the same problem but those threads usually ended without any real resolution. I've already un-checked the option for automatic updates to time/time zone and it STILL does it. I got the phone when it had already been modded. It was doing it then. Since then, I've run a Task 29 and installed the stock ROM (RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship) and none of that helped. I can't honestly figure out what else in the phone could have an effect on the time and have the ability to change it like that?
Can anyone help me figure it out? At first I thought it was due to the syncing with Windows My Phone but I took that off and it still does it. I've checked my Outlook to make sure it's on the right time zone and it is but that wouldn't have been it anyway as it changes time in between syncs rather than at the sync time.
So ... what could possibly affect the time zone setting? Any ideas?
do you live fairly close to the time zone border? could be that the phone is sometimes connected to a cell that is in one zone and sometimes a cell on the other
Nope, I'm right smack dab in the middle of Arizona. We do have our own time zone because we're special like that but it's changing me to two time zones away. Oh and I forgot to mention, even when I uncheck the time sync option, at times I'll go back in to check it and it's checked again ... as if the phone is determined to leave it checked. Other times, it'll still be unchecked. Weirdness.
Make sure you don't use the my location "feature", as it's basically proved to be a pain for most people. Click your clock and make sure you're set to your actual region in there (you may need to add the city, if you've not already done so.)
Other than that, go to the settings tab, data services and internet time sync. Make sure that "get time from the internet" is not ticked. There's no way the phone can now change your time itself, unless there's software on there that's doing it.
phone settings
also check under settings/all settings/phone/GSM services. Time Sync there means only time zone adjusting. You can turn that off too.
Do you use iGO (GPS software)?
Because iGO has a bug that reset time zone.
One more thought, check your settings to determine what is the home time zone. If it is set to something else, you might 'revert' to that time zone when you don't have a signal.

not registering the network time

hi
Have any of you guys experienced that the automatic time setting (the time the actual network sending) doesn't work?
I set mine to automatic so that i didn't have to do anything regarding setting the local time and dates..
The reason why i'm asking is that sitting here 1hour before i actually had to get up hence it did not register the network time
Can anyone check or confirm?
-TB-
I noticed that time and date were set, but time zone was 2 hours off. Had to set it manually...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I had the exact same problem (GT-i9000 SIM unlocked, on vodafone UK), I waited a few hours and the time was still saying it was hours ahead and in tomorrow (!!)
I ended up setting the time manually then re-selecting the network option. Not sure if that will help keep good time or not .... so far so good.

^^thats exactly what i experienced.. unlocked phone as well..
Maybe it has something to do with the phones not being branded?
But for now i haven't ticked the network time.. Ill let you guys know what happens

yeah same problem finally had to set it manually, shame. Why did I sell my black desire for this piece of trash!
Thankfully i didn't buy it on contract otherwise would have been lumbered with this crap for 18 months.
Strange mine works fine on Vodafone UK. Just won't display the phone number, Wonder if its because I ported from orange

Seems to me that the initial release of this phone has been quite buggy. I'm still on the shipped firmware (JF3), though might go for a MoDaCo kitchen cooked ROM at some point.
Previously I had a Nexus One and that took time from the network fine.
Same thing happend to me. When I started the phone for the first time, it didn't update the network time at all. after some time it came, but it's very various when it works or not.

I had the same problem, I went to France the past 2 days and every now and then the time on my phone changed, even when the option to auto sync time is set to false. I Live in Belgium so France is still the same GMT +1.
Try upgrading to the newest stock ROM. I saw you still run 1.07.x, but there is already a version 1.36.x.
It's not the ROM. Mine has been doing it ever since we went to daylight saving in the UK. Jumping forward an hour every day or so.
tryied to upgrade but i got the error 294 invalid vender
anyway i opened a case with HTC
but i thing my problem is due to daylight saving
but not so sure because at the same time i was in Greece wich is also diferent time zone

Does anyone know if a hard reset fixes the problem?
Maybe, but also check the values of:
HKLM\\Software\Microsoft\Clock\HomeDST
and
HKLM\\Software\Microsoft\Clock\NetworkTimeSync

Is that the same as enabling/disabling the automatic time in the phone options?
BTW what value should be in those entries? Thanks
Try to set both of them to "0", soft reset, set the correct time and time zone through settings and check if the problem still exists.
Doesn't work. As soon as I activate the automatic time, it increases 1 hour
The automatic hour must be deactivated.

This is the process to de-activate auto time update.
Go to:
Settings> Menu> All Settings> Personal> Phone> (search for) GSM/UMTS Services> Time Synchronization (second last option in list)> get settings. Un-check "automatic change time zone..."> Done
now the time will not update automatically.
That's in post #6.

I knew that, that's how I solved it long time ago, but what I'm trying to do is to make the automatic time work again, since I find it quite useful
Useful of what?
When traveling for example. Thanks for the tip anyway
i followed the instructions from NitroNitrous old thread where you disable the updates.
(very well hidden settings).
Settings/Menu/All Settings\Personal\Phone\GSM/UMTS Services and then scroll down and you'll see "Time Synchronization". Tap there and then "Get Settings".
thanks NitroNitrous
I have aslo an open case with HTC as soon i will get update i willl pass over
One other guess is that the provider has incorect setting. could be that the case ?

I thought about that, since it happened when they changed the time for the daylight saving thing, but it's hard to believe that many providers in different parts of the world have made the same mistake
nah! it's clearly a bug, something like network is sending the correct hour but the phone is applying by always adding daylight time saving again...

That's why there are two choices for time zone, under "Clock & Alarms".

Phone keeps changing my time-zone

I'm running the stock ROM, nothing other than Cookies 1.8.5....live in the US, Central Standard time zone.
My phone keeps switching itself to Pacific a few times a day. Anyone know how I can stop it from switching every time I switch it back?
Border?
Is it possible that you live right on the border of two time zones and your phone is connecting to a tower in another time zone. if so just change your settings and manually set your time instead of automatically from the network.
or to set the correct time zone to save the settings and turn off/turn on your phone

No, I'm right in the middle of the Central Standard time zone...and it keep setting itself to Pacific (two zones away).
I'll try setting it correctly in the "all settings area" and shutting her down for a bit....but I doubt that will fix it as I've tried restarting Sense and the phone itself after said change attempts and it's not worked either.
The ONLY thing I can think that might be causing this is since it seems to happen at work more than elsewhere, and my work is based in Glendale Wisconsin, that the system automatically sees Glendale, and assumes it's Arizona instead of Wisconsin.
Seems illogical...but it's the only reason I can think of why this might be happening.
