Android Apps for the Vogue Port

It was suggested that we start a thread specifically for the apps that run well on the Android port to the HTC Touch/Vogue. I personally own an (Sprint=CDMA) HTC Touch Diamond, but upon seeing the maturity level of Android running on the Touch, I immediately went to eBay and picked up the Touch handset...and I am glad I did. The only reason I boot back to winmo is for work calendar (Lotus), Skype (iSkoot kinda sucks), and Podcasts (hopefully we getting DoggCatcher soon).I've found that battery life with Togga on to be about 8-10 hours which I can live with it, but it's a pain to keep toggling if you really need to conserve (but it could be worse )I plan on posting more battery data soon, but need a few more days of collection. Hopefully we can find a more permanent way of managing the data connection with balance for battery life.

The apps I have found to run well on my CDMA with dzo/f00bar's (much respect) latest files:
-Scoreboard - I'm not that big of a sports fan, but this app is slick!
-aLastFM - Just got permission to post the link from the developer. Thanks Oleg!!
-Stocker - Simple but effective stock app, but no graphs. If someone could find a better one...
-Weather - Simple, but effective. Multiple Cities, current and forecast, with menu link to detailed outlook including radar from Undergroud Weather.
-AnyCut -Great for making shortcuts to just about any screen in the OS, especially useful for Battery and Sounds&Display
-TextEasy - for sending a text to multiple contacts, until someone can get a hold of ChomperSMS or K9SMS (K9Mail I have not gotten to work either, we need a better mail app, the native client doesn't even recognize URLS, wtf?!)
-OIFileManager - It's the only one I've tried, so can't comment on the others, but there are several out there. UPDATE: I tried out Astro and Glance. I liked Astro, but after a day it stopped working for me and gives me a force quit. I prefer Glance over OI FileManager, it's on 4shared I believe.
-OIFlashlight - amazing how handy this comes in
-OINewsReader - No frills RSS aggregator
-ShopSavvy - Did you say "We'll match any price"?...but be fast with your fingers, camera is not fine enough to capture the barcode

I wanted to add SMS PopUp as another great app. You can find it along with a bunch of other APKs here. One of the G1 owners that grabbed all of the apps and is hosting them for download.

The Meebo app is well worth a look - look for it on 4shared.com. Lets you IM on just about any IM network (Yahoo, MSN, AIM etc). IMs appear in the notification bar while you are in any other program. Great stuff.

I believe im the only person hosting the meebo.apk at the moment.

i installed and signed into my MSN account, however, just a white screen shows up. No list of contacts, etc. No menu options other than to add another account or sign off. Not exactly useful (at least this version). Is anyone using this successfully?
EDIT: I received a chat, and that gave me a buddy online, maybe no one on my list was signed on at the time I first checked.
Also, it doesnt remember your username and password, which is annoying because it randomly closed on me after tapping the notification in the bar during a chat session today. I'll keep looking for a better app or updated version.

What about an updated version of Shopsavvy. Mine keeps saying there is a new version, but of course we can't update off the marketplace.

I'm looking for the Locale application. Even though we don't have GPS running, Locale still alows profile switching based on time and days of the week, which would be useful for office vs. non-office settings. If someone could post this I would appreciate it!

If they are in the AndroidApps folder then they should be installed already. I found that sometimes icons don't show up to launch the program, however. This is where AnyCut comes in handy. Use AnyCut to search in "Activities" to find your app. If you are not seeing it in this list then you may have to "manually" install the app. Open a file browser such as OI File Manager or Glance and navigate to your AndroidApps folder. Click on the .apk file and it should launch teh app installer.

I am very interested in the Scoreboard app, I got it running fine, but the other day the game I added to my favorite never really gave me updates until the game was over by a few hours.
Isnt this application able to provide real-time results?

Someone in the main topic said something about an ebay app. What is it and is it any good? Is it secure? It'd be nice to have for me.
There's been a couple apps I liked that didn't fit our screen plus having to reinstall android files often I lose all my saved info so it doesn't work out for me. Sprint needs to hurry up with an HTC Android phone.

Maybe a stupid question, not sure... Why can't someone extract the android market application from the G1 to be used on other phones? Seems a bit odd of Google to limit the market to only a specific phone.

There is a discussion about the marketplace on the big long forum. The marketplace is not open source. They're talking about the commands and encryption and such for it. I'd think it's not open because they plan on having pay for apps but I could be wrong

Allows you to place calls and check voicemail for your GrandCentral account. Pretty much allows for unlimited free calling. Works great on my friends G1.
Still missing a few features.. like the ability to call contacts that are only in your GC account, but still very good.
Heres the problem.. it crashes when trying to dial out on the Vogue!!! Ahhh!
So close to beating the telecoms... If anyone knows anything about error codes or how to get this working, I might have a GrandCentral account invite...

I noticed this also. i resolved by changing my time zone in settings. Only problem is that this then modifies your "synced" time with your carrier, it adjusts + or - according to your time zone, so you have to comensate...each time you boot. Not by any means an elegant solution, but if you need realtime scores this is the answer. Probably better off sticking with NHL.com

I tried the "Ebay.apk" from 4Shared, but it doesn't display properly. The tabs extend all the way to the bottom of the other screen which is a common problem for us vogue port users.

[Q] Can Android Market be installed on a non rooted KF?

I have a few questions and they are probably answered here but I'm at work so its very hard tor me to get on my phone.
- is their a way to get android market on a KF even if its not rooted? I really would just like to install apps that are not in the amazon market. A new launcher,etc. Do you have to be rooted to install apps from android?
- What is side loading apps? I keep hearing people talk about this? What is it for?
- is there a way to text people from my KF? If so can anyone tell me a good app?
- how can I change the amazon keyboard to say swiftkey or something?
- any way to play movies on the KF? Could I drop a mkv, avi, divx, etc. movie from my pc onto my kindle? Or could I stream it to my kindle somehow?
- last question to now...is there a way to improve the touch screen response? I have to repeatedly touch icons, links and whatnot. I thought I saw an app that improves the KF screen?

1) No. Market needs root to install. Some other launchers work without root, but you now have to side load them. You can add other non-Amazon apps in many cases, but without root, you can't use the Android Market, so you would need to side load them.
2) Copying the APK install files via download or via usb or other means.
3) The Kindle Fire is not a phone, there is no radio in the device so no text messaging. You can use things like Google Talk but you need root to install it. There are some web based txt stuff, but that is not really on the device.
4) Need root to do this
5) There are other video players that will do this. Like MX Video player
6) Not really.

6 In particular is starting to get on my nerves. I think its an OS/Kernel issue because tapping stuff elsewhere seems to be ok, but that bar is a headache. Hit back 5x and you see it light up each time.
Also I dont know if its dolphin browser or what but a lot of the times I tap a typing area like google search, after 2-3 letters it just hides the keyboard.
Also I've been having more issues where you click a typable area and start typing, but nothing shows. Keyboard is showing recommended words, but none will actually show on the screen.
Oh, also if you're watching a video on a site, good luck moving the time bar. Sometimes I have to press and hold my finger 2-3 seconds for it to trigger.
Seems to be a little worse since 6.2 imo.

Once the kindle is rooted and the entire market is installed does the kindle act like an android phone? Do you get the android home screen? With cm7 does your tablet act just like phone obviously without gos and so on.

The market is just an app that you use to get more apps.
It will still look and feel like an out of the box kindle fire.
And last I recall the market wont show up in the standard kindle launcher, so no one would even know it was there.
You have to take additional steps to even utilize it.
CM7 would make it act like an android device. there are tablets with CM7 so it has nothing to do with phones. Gos I assume is gps, and some tablets have that so it isnt phone only.

I have the Market installed but for some reason there are tons of apps missing for the market. Is their way to fix this?
Apps like Yahoo Fantasy Football to Google Maps or Google Earth are not there.

I think you can send/receive a limited number of text messages as well as make /receive calls with a free Google Voice account. I have not tested this with the Kindle Fire, so someone else may correct me.
There is an app called TouchScreen Booster that may help you adjust your screen sensitivity.

Go to Kindle Fire browser Google search for "applanet". Under the link will be on the left "familiar interface" I tried that one first and it didn't work. On the right of it is one called "Version". I clicked that one and it directly started downloading an app. Tap the upper left part of the screen where the notifications are and when it is done downloading tap on its notification. It will install. (prior to this you need to go to settings - device and turn on download from unknown sources) install it and it creates an app called Applanet Market. Go to the Amazon market and search for ADW ex. Download that. You may find apps on Applanet that are not in Amazons.Search for any application you want. Like youtube, earth, gmail, whatever. When you're done playing with applanet hit your home key. It will give you a choice of ADW or stock. Check off the default box and choose ADW. Go to menu at bottom and go to ADW settings. Advanced. Set columns to 6 and rows to 6 and return back. At the bottom middle you have the ADW 3 button controller. I opened the app drawer (middle button) and dragged the Kindle Fire launcher to home screen and then long pressed it and dragged it over the area left of the appdrawer button. It will stick here and with it you can get to the stock KF home screen. But whenever you tap home, you will go to ADW. If you ever want to change that, go to settings. Applications. ADW. And at the lower area you can choose to release the default.

In response to this and OP's earlier question, MX is good. Moboplayer is good too, but I've been having full screen problems with Mobo. On streaming, you can use Dropbox or Sugarsync (I use SS, there is a thread on it in the apps category). For streaming though, I've found that MX doesn't work great and Mobo is better, which is why I use that for streaming, although I still have the full screen issues. If you stream using SS, just make sure that file is encoded in a quality to get a good stream. There is also another thread on how to setup files to do this in apps category as well.

[Q] How to trigger Google now? How to turn off beep?

I have avoided Google now for the previous two iterations of phone... but I'm giving it a shot on the S4!
There are two outstanding Google Now questions that I can't seem to find a clear answer to by Googling (there's a joke in there somewhere).
1) How do I actually trigger Google now? I've tried saying Google, that doesn't work. The best I've been able to do is map the double home button to launch voice input, but that's s poor solution. If I have to use button presses to trigger it, then I may as well just do whatever I was trying to do in the first place with my fingers. IE, it's no time time savings to double press the home button and then say a command, vs just clicking on the app icon I'm trying to launch (probably a time penalty in fact).
What am I missing? Why isn't my Google Now listening to me in the background? Am I just using the wrong trigger word?
2) The beep that follows voice recognition is incredibly loud, substantially louder than the speech response that Google feeds back. How do I disable the beep entirely? It's redundant and disruptive. The best solution online seems to be to mute notifications in general. That's a non starter.

You trigger it by starting the Google app and following the instructions. It's the google app, not the google+ app or the google settings app.
After that it just kind of runs. starts out slow at first but more cards appear over time, but you can pull it up anytime by running the google app.

Yes.... I realize how to run the app.... and how to follow its instructions
How do I trigger it, that's my question/query/frustration. As mentioned, it works fine if I double-tap the home button to launch the Google Now app manually. It also works fine if I go into my apps and find the Google Now icon, and then launch it that way, or if I use a shortcut, widget, etc to open up the app.
What I can't figure out, is how to actually trigger it during regular use. Short of going in and manually launching Google Now, I can't get it to trigger - I can't get it to listen to me. I've tried saying "Google", "Android, "Ok Android", "Ok Google", etc, and almost every other ridiculous phrase I can think of. Nothing triggers it short of manually launching the app by hand.

Once I set it up, it comes up every time I tap on the google search bar. However, normally I don't mess with it, it just automatically sends me notification cards when it thinks I need them.
For instance right now it's showing me a notification card for the last Sharks Kings game, my upcoming flight and several cards for things I've researched a lot lately like the S4, Voodoo Sound, Vsonic GR02 headphones, Fiio E07K etc. Also has my stocks and the local weather. I didn't "do" anything to get the cards, they just appear in my notification bar or whenever I tap the search bar.

That's fine - once setup, it comes up every time I tap the Google search bar too. That's not my issue.
My problem is that I cannot get it to trigger by my voice. Unless I manually launch the app first each and every time I want it to do something, it does not respond to my voice. It responds to my voice just fine if I manually I launch the app first, but that's the only time I can get it to work. At all other times, I may as well be speaking to my shoe

Hold menu button for couple seconds.

Easy answer. You can't you have to launch it first.

That can't be...? What use would a hands-free system be if you have to use your hands and navigate into an app before it will take hands-free voice commands?
Isn't the whole deal with this voice stuff that you can just talk to it?

In my experience, the hotword detection only works after you've manually triggered the app. It only relieves you from physically tapping the microphone icon.

get a bt headset and activate it that way..It can't be 100% hands free; it would have to be on all the time, and then you would complain about how much battery it was eating...

On my Google Now, saying "Google" does work. As long as the actual App has already been activated and is standing by that is.
On my "S Voice", saying, "Hi Galaxy" works, but it is customizable for other triggering phrases.
You are correct about Google Now only responding the first time though. If you want it to voice activate again you have to use the back key to get back to the original screen or completely re-launch it. It just seems that is the way it is.

Wow - this is significantly less impressive than I had envisioned. I was under the mistaken impression that Google Now (and Siri on the iPhone) just responded to their trigger words whenever uttered.
This strikes me as somewhat limited in usefulness until they get these apps to listen constantly. If I need to know the weather, why use my hands to launch Google Now, then ask for the weather, and then wait for it, if I could instead just use my hands to launch my weather app directly?
I must be missing all the excitement - or maybe Siri / Google Now are meant for people who can't figure out their phones?
On the issue of that annoying confirmation sound, I'm halfway there. The APK is in data/apps, and it's called "com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1.apk". Inside that apk there is a folder called "res", and inside that there's another folder called "raw". In that folder you'll find the WAV files for each sound.
Unfortunately, that's where my efforts die. I can't seem to open the wav files on a PC (even in audio editing software). I can't just delete them either, or Google Now crashes. I similarly can't just replace them with less annoying wav files from my PC - that crashes Google Now also. I'll see what I can do about finding a way to just upon them for the purpose of lowering their volume (or blanking them) and report back with my results (if any).

Don't you think some people DON'T want it on all the time? It could mistakenly trigger it and possibly do an unwanted action. It is fine in it's current implementation. I would think in the future as voice recognition and battery technology improves we might see an always on Google now or siri but right now it would/could cause more problems than create convenience.

A new version of Chrome (for desktop) is coming out that supposedly will do this, but it's just not feasible on a mobile device. At least not yet. Do you really want your phone's mic on 24/7 feeding audio to the processor, constantly running voice recognition on every sound it hears? Imagine how horrible the battery life would be. Not to mention the privacy concerns of that (and legal issues, I can see something like this breaking wiretap laws in several states).
Even Google Glass requires you to either touch it or activate it through a head motion so it starts listening. The same with Siri on iOS. The point is you only have to do one thing to start issuing a variety of commands. You can do it without looking at the phone.

As mentioned, think logically about what you are asking for. If your phone's microphone was always on, listening to and parsing every single noise it hears 24/7 to detect the word Google, think about what the battery implications. Every sound it hears it must analyze, all day long. Then, consider any time it thinks it hears Google, it will immediately turn on and listen for more input and then try to respond to that. It's just not feasible to expect this without killing your battery and also dealing with the many false positives that might constantly be making your phone do stuff you didn't intend.
Having said that, you are missing the key part of Google Now which sort of addresses your issues with it. Google Now doesn't listen 24/7 for you to speak to it, it analyzes data such as your search history, location, Google now settings, gmail, calendar, and so on, to proactively give you information before you even ask for it. That's the appeal and the main idea of Now. You still get the searching, the voice commands, etc, but you also get an "assistant" that doesn't need you to constantly tell it what you want. (In theory of course)

Yep - and that's where I thought the tech was at. I thought we had overcome these problems. I thought we were able to accomplish the above.
I played with it a bunch yesterday, and there was nothing that I could do faster with voice (given that I had to use hands to trigger the app first) than I could do with just hands alone. I tested a lot of common tasks, and launching the app + giving a voice command and waiting for the response action was always slower (not even factoring in voice errors - that's assuming 100% accuracy).
The ability to constantly listen is fundamental to voice commands being useful on a smartphone (in my mind). I just jumped the gun and thought we were there already (adverts certainly make it seem like we are). Until we hit that point, until we have a system that is responsive like KIT, or HAL, or LCARS, I think voice commands are impractical. It needs constant listening. Interestingly, it looks like the industry agrees:

It's not there yet. It is still very handy when you're multitasking and the best example is driving. Sure I would love to not have to tap my phone a couple if times, but it is still worlds better than losing focus taking my phone out if dock, making those couple taps and typing out my message or commands. Not to mention keeping a CPU and microphone running at all times keeping your phone awake at the same time and it is just not viable. I don't think apple could pull it off either as it would just keep iOS running and running when the phone is not in use. Then there's the privacy factor. I don't think this will be viable for at least another couple of years.

Siri also doesn't respond by keyword launch. S-voice seems like the only one that does and it's definitely less than stellar. As jsmith8858 said above, it's a proactive assistant. Google Now is there for you to give you information it believes you might need before you ask for it. I.e. If i google a place on google maps on my desktop, When i look at google now on my phone a moment later, it has the pop up of directions and estimated time (that i can bring up in maps or navigation by tapping) of where it was when I just searched.
There are third party apps you can use with custom roms that you can bind double-tap home button to initiate voice search, or you can add voice search as a shortcut on your lock screen as well.

I was watching TV and someone on TV said Google, and it triggered the app so I'm pretty sure that there is a way to do it without using your hands, especially because of how many times they said there was a way during one of those recent Key notes regarding it

As far as I know, the only phone that triggers Google now by saying "Ok Google now" is the new moto X, but it has a processor dedicated to ear what you are saying.
I don't know if this ability cam be ported to our s4 and what will be the price to pay about battery consumption.

Omate Rise

Im not sure if this is supposed to be posted here but Xda has not made an omate rise section.
Ive recently received my omate rise smartwatch, its a decent device though lacking app content for the moment since there is no google play support. I have several annoyance with it but especially the keyboard, the stock firmware uses a "sample soft keyboard" which is packaged as "com.example.android.softkeyboard" its a horrible keyboard on its own but its supposed to be used in conjunction with the phone app Olink. When you tap the keyboard on the watch while BT tethered to a phone, the Olink app supposed to popup a second keyboard which you can input and send it to the watch input fields.
This sounds good and all but doesnt work with all the time. so i installed various other keyboards i.e google keyboard, minuum, etc. They all have a strange issue where when the keyboard options or keyboard is called up there is a black solid overlay that blocks the view no matter what. can anyone help.
also if anyone know a way to install google play that would be good, also even though i ordered the dev version, the device does not come with SU binaries and not rooted. omate just avoids the question altogether

Play Store install will require somebody make a custom recovery for it. Seeing that Omate has burned so many developers and XDA, the chances of that happening are slim. To be honest, selling it is your best option as according to Omate, every watch they sell is a "dev version". This pretty much means you are on your own.

Be aware of this company and thear products!
Ive received broken watch, after that Ive send it back to the omate office in HK, they promise me to refund the shipping back costs. As for now they received the parcel, they refuse to repair it and start the procedure of refund, the pay me on my paypal not the full amount as Ive pay on Indiegogo (the chose me to pay the 11.43 USD commision for this transaction) and refuse to refund me shipping back costs. Be aware of this scamers!!!

I got a Omate Rise from a private ebay seller for about 2 weeks for my brother. I made a lot of updates and there is now a GooglePlay store on it by OTA-Update. But I search for a better app for circular displays. I hope I can grab the play:store apk from the fresh Android Wear 2.0 preview 3 rom. You can get it here https://developer.android.com/wear/preview/downloads.html, extract this with winrar and look into the system with ext4_unpacker_exe.zip .

Jup the keyboard ist still the bigest problem.
Currently there is LatinIME.apk installed per default from OTA/stuck rom. I try some keyboards and the could be the OneTouch keyboard. Looks really nice for the small display:
Also for round displays. It was a kickstarter. I was able to activate beta testing in google play store but sadly I can not buy the in-app-purchase with the current stock-rom:
After starting there is a relly really shor time the purchase button:

But when I can press/touch the button it fails because on the payment:
I can touch "Weiter" and I can fill out my paypal-payment data with "adb shell input text 'my-text'":
But at the end he did not accept my billing method:
The non-beta has a working IME-Keyboard but there something I missed so, I changed back to stock IME (LatinIME).

I had no idea how to get the SU binary into the xbon folder but I think should be easily done on this stock-FW.
And as I am allready writing: just make OTA updates.

Use Vysor or Mobizen to extend your display to your PC to better access the hidden corners and menu items that the round screen blocks.
Applications are not available on the Play Store for the Rise but you can download them from apkpure.com, transfer them to your Rise and install
them using the File Manager.
Wifi File Transfer is an easy way to copy files over, as is Airdroid or Android File Transfer.
Good luck getting any support from the developer for this watch, it's at EOL and not even out of Beta.

[Q] How to set intent on the Nook Simple Touch to open "Reading Now"?

I am not at all a wizard in code, so if anyone could help me set an intent to open "reading now" on the Nook Simple Touch, that would be really helpful. I'm using it to have a "reading now" link on my desktop with an app. It lets me copy and paste any intent I want into it, and I thought this one would be handy. The app is Desktop VisualiseR.

So what I'm trying to do is use Desktop VisualizeR to open the reader via the "Reading Now" Intent. I am making a very simple and intuitive browser like the one you have made, @nmyshkin for my friends and family who are not at all techie.

Here is a desktop I'm playing with. These images won't be the final product, but I would like to make an eye image that directly opens "Reading Now"
In the Desktop VisualizeR Widget, I go to "Select Action"-->"Clipboard" (with this exact text copied in the clipboard without quotes: "am broadcast -a com.bn.nook.launch.LAST_BOOK -n com.bn.nook.home/.HomeBroadcastReceiver" )
All I get are two options which pertain to "MX Player" which is merely a video player I have installed. Choosing either one of these and tapping to widget to run it yields no results. Is there a particular way to format the intent for Desktop VisualizeR to run it?

By the way, this homescreen thing is looking awesome! Here is what I've got now!
So I've been messing with using SMWidgets to create a shortcut with the "Eye" symbol on my desktop using this procedure here:

I was disappointed to find that the reader app did not launch, and the Script Manager app stayed with that message. I don't honestly know what it means. Anyone know what would be better to input?

Just got into Cairo. You've been busy. To my knowledge the clipboard does not work on the NST, at least not for me, so there's one thing.
I can easily create an app with Tasker that does the Reading Now thing. But not without my NST. Would that work?

It would, for sure!
I have gotten the clipboard to work in the attempt to do this! It works with the attached keyboard app "Multiling Keyboard". There is an option to switch to a keyboard that has arrow keys, select all, copy, paste, cut, delete, etc.

What might be better is if you're going to use tasker, to send me a backup of the macro that you create for the reading now action. That may suffice instead of writing a whole new app. I will probably install tasker since I already have so many tasker apps running it may save some RAM that way, not sure. I can also use tasker for other options on the desktop like toggling wifi etc. The attached version of tasker is the one I know is the latest and best for the NST.
Whichever is easier for you to do is whatever works for me. I really appreciate your help, and hope you have a wonderful and unforgettable trip in Cairo.

Yeah, when I get home. In the meantime you might try just
com.bn.nook.launch.LAST_BOOK
as the intent. Seems like that's what's in the RN Menu app, although that might be in a shell which I'm not seeing. Not sure of the intent format for DesktopVisualizer.

You don't have to put the component name in, that is no "-n com.bn....."
The broadcast receiver component might have changed in different versions.
The newer Nooks seem to use com.bn.nook.intent.action.OPEN_LAST_READ_BOOK

OK, so here is a simple little app and the xml task file that is used to create it. You can, of course, assign a different icon using DesktopVisualiser.

I've installed this but can't figure out what to do with it! The first "step" (1. Enable Multiling) says it cannot do an autosetup so see the FAQ. This I did, but nowhere can I find anything about how to proceed with the app
Any pointers on set-up or somewhere you can point me that actually tells you how to do it?

@nmyshkin Here's a way to easily access the copy paste function when typing: In the multiling app go to "keyboard settings" then go to "gestures" each section you see here refers to a different swipe on the keyboard ims over the keys when its active. I know the second one programs a swipe to the right and the fourth is a swipe left. Program one of these to "toggle mode". Swipe your gesture when ims is active.
You will see what you want here.
Swipe again to switch back to QWERTY keyboard.
Try that.

Yeah, I finally figured all that out. My big hurdle was how to get the NST to use the keyboard instead of stock. It can be done using sqlite but I ended up using Nook Color Tools for the first (and last) time and in the process initiating an erase/deregister which made me very unhappy
Having trouble with the dictionary plugin at the moment. I have the keyboard app in system/app but installed the dictionary plugin as normal. Maybe that was a mistake.
But...it's almost back to where it was before the event, then I'll make a more current backup.
Edit: I finally got the dictionary plugin so that it's not whining about memory issues, but it does not seem to do anything.
More importantly, I can only seem to select ALL when using copy/paste. Is there a way to select only part of something? Also the function does not work in all contexts, for example in Documents to Go.
Edit-Edit: Well, I figured out the selection process for copy/paste. Who knew the "shift" key was needed to bound the area to copy? I'm sure this keyboard can do lots of things but it's profoundly lacking in any material to explain how they can be done. Still can't get the word suggestions to work, which is probably just as well since I immediately turn that off on my other devices.

I tried to get word suggestions to work for that keyboard, as it's my go-to keyboard on my Atrix 4g, but it never worked for me on the NST. If it did, that would be my daily user. I use ICS keyboard which actually has autocorrect. It's the only one I know of that works for it. If multiling had autocorrect, I wouldn't switch between the two on the NST.

Mmm....OK. Whilst looking for an "ICS keyboard" in the YalpStore I was bemused to find that while I had typed "ics keyboard" what appeared in the search box was "Icarus keyboard". First time I noticed something like that and exactly why I always turn this "feature" off on all my devices. Perhaps removing the plugin will squelch that behavior.
Meanwhile, can you give me a link for the ICS keyboard you mention?
Edit: On further investigation, there is definitely auto"correction" going on as I type. What is missing is the typical display of potential substitutions and therefore any way to specify a choice. It just does what it wants by its own arcane rules.
In addition to having the English plugin installed, in the Settings for the Multiling keyboard under "Word suggestion settings" I originally had the first three selections checked as well as "Quick fixes" and "User dictionary". For me, this produced the behavior described.

Thanks. I'll take a look at it. I gave up on the other alternate keyboard. While it was able to copy and paste within an app, it didn't seem to have true clipboard capabilities to carry a line of text or a URL from one app to another. That's what I'd really like.
