Camera Question - Moto E4 Questions & Answers

Can anyone tell me why Snapchat makes my photos look like they have a cartoon filter on them? It looks the same on screen before I take a picture on the Moto camera app... But then post picture it looks just fine and clear. I've attached some examples below. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Because Snapchat on Android essentially takes a photo of what your camera sees instead of actually using your camera unlike most other media apps, it's the result of Snapchat devs taking the easy way out.

Wow... Thanks for the clarification... Glad to know it has nothing to do with the actual phone itself.

Vignette Camera Conclusion

Hmmm...I purchased this app a little while ago and switched back to my default camera...today I decided to go back to Vignette and do some photo tests against the default camera.
Both apps are on the same settings, or as close as I could make them. Clearly to my surprise the Vignette app actually takes sharper pics than the X10 camera.
Attached is a photo sample to show the difference...im my eyes its actually a pretty big difference.

i went in the same way i was using vignette but i guess it was some stupid version .. with no available options ... and returned to stock camera ... but now i`m using one of the latest versions and OMG the difference is so big ... i just deleted stock camera app from my screen never gonna use it again ! )
I'm usually a really cynical poster and I don't mean to be a ****, but that's been one of the most popular topics on the forum. It's definitely true though, I don't use the original camera app much.
The only thing I don't like about Vignette is that you can't adjust the contrast on the fly like in the native camera app. I don't like the interface as much either. The X10's interface is pretty good, it just lacks the ability to keep the light enabled by default, to view pictures fullscreen and without Mediascape and a few other very minor tweaks. For once SEMC actually did something correct with the minimalistic and straight forward camera interface.

I think you may have used the free version...which doesn't support the full resolution of your phone. But I took a few different pictures comparing, I only posted that one comparision, but yeah vignette came out better everytime alot more crisp anyways.

Maybe 2.1 will improve the default camera app, but from what Ive read its only giving us 720p and nothing else. I actually like the interface on vignette, I also like the interface on the default camera. But when it really comes down to it, its all about what app will take the clearer more crisp picture right? and that goes to Vignette hands down. There may be a bunch of posts about this already, but really Ill admit, im way to lazy to search today...sorry

I'm positive that even SEMC will update the interface to include some of the important features. It's sad that we have to pay for a third party app to do the most minimalistic tasks, and that's to just take a proper picture. Nothing advanced even!...

I was watching a video on youtube of the droid x camera and features....I wish SE would give us something like that. Pretty slick interface and options....really no need for 3rd party apps. However I do have PicSay Pro...so that gives me everything my heart desires lol.

I returned to the stock app because vignette is so damn slow and I could not find a way to just take a picture and have it save without having to push 50 buttons.
I won't deny the quality is far superior, but like I said its just stop slow.

That's the stupidest thing you could've done. You've probably broken every application on your phone that uses the camera to add a picture to a message/fb/twitter, ect.
Also, you've lost the ability to easily take video.
Does anyone think before they delete apps?
Well I've noticed that night(or atleast low light) shots are pretty much the same with either app... they both suck
I use Vignette for everything else though...wish it had a better UI

exactly what i did
I tried using Vignette, but I found that it seemed to crop some of the picture automatically? Like, I know there's something like that in the settings, but besides that, what I see on the screen before I take the picture isn't the same as what's captured. Also, I found it really difficult with macro shots, especially with the autoflash. While focussing, the light comes on, but then the light goes off after focus, so then the camera refocuses, and when the picture is taken, the flash comes on but the camera focussed for without light, so you get over exposure or out of focus. Am I using the app wrong? I'm really finding it difficult to focus and get clear pictures, with vignette or stock app

There pretty close, but it almost looks like the X10 default camera has the edge in that pic. Perhaps the X10 default camera is better in lower light photos? I haven't tested that yet.

y exactly ) i was thinking is easy to understand that i only deleted the app from my screen not uninstalling it
and about those 2 pictures with the sunglasses m8... there maybe is not difference in close up pictures coz macro is working fine but try to take pictures from distance and youll see the difference anyway i`m using steady shot for best preformance 8mpx superfine and 16:9 widescreen something u dont have at stock app 8pmx only 4:3 ... sooo there u go aaaa and another thing with vignette u can take picture with a real FLASH ... not with LED light

Camera Issues

I just wanted to know if you guys were getting the same issue.. My xoom is taking awfully blurry pictures, even when im standing still. Either the stabilization is horrid or my camera is messed up.
Feedback? Thanks!
I was just about to post about this as well. I'm hoping its a software issue because when taking landscape photos especially the blurryness is terrible.

It is night now so I cannot take any daytime pics but I have not noticed anything like that. Here are a couple pics I just took outside with the flash on. Look fine to me.
Yeah I didn't have a problem earlier, took this a few hours ago, completely freehand. View attachment 527589

Any particular settings? Mine don't look nearly as sharp. Does your display look blurry before hand? or is it that clear all the way through? I've noticed they look a lot better when i preview them back in the gallery than while i'm taking them. Ugh. I feel like i've run into this problem before... oh yeah, my droid x..

The display looks somewhat pixelated but the actual photo looks much better.
In order to not take away from this thread and to keep things organized I am starting a Camera comparison thread seperately
Mine too, but i'm using captivate
I just upgraded to serendipity's latest rom (6.3, 2.2.1) and all of a sudden, my photos are all very blurry and poorly exposed.
the camera worked GREAT on the stock rom.
any ideas or help is very appreciated.

What does this have to do with the Xoom?
I was having the same problem. After taking the picture install QuickPic. There is a problem with the stock honeycomb picture viewer.

From my experience, the pictures look quite bad when viewing them on the Xoom (via the gallery app), but once you offload them and look at them on the computer they look quite good. Do you have auto-focus turned on in the camera settings, and are you holding down the shutter long enough to let it focus? You may accidentally have the camera set to not focus or be in macro mode, which would lead to quite the blurry picture.
Offload some of ur pics onto a computer and see if they still seem blurry.
FWIW it seems like macro shots are the only ones that actually look half-decent on the Xoom itself.

Thanks for the suggestion. This actually shows the pictures clearly. Wonder whatsup with the stock Gallery app?
also keep in mind that a tablet is not the optimal platform for taking pics. Image stabilization, while good, cannot work miracles and the tablet form factor is not the easiest to hold steady while taking a pic....
Quality is just OK, my phone is far better for taking pictures.. I didn't expect much from a tablet anyways..
Video camera is decent aswell, however the stuttering issue I had with my first 2 wifi xooms still exists, oh well, I prob wont even use this for recording anyways...

Stock photo viewer killing image details

So yesterday I email myself a few pics of my car I had on my I pad. When I check them out I notice they are low on detail. I was thinking what the heck higher Res and less detail? I compared the same pic on the ipad and instantly notice the difference. Thinking its impossible I jump into the market and look for another photoviewer and low and behold it displays all that missing detail. I started comparing all my pics on the zoom in both apps on my device (for reference I downloaded viewpic basically it was the first free app I found).
Anyone else notice this? Looks like the stock gallary app is helping to hurt the first impression of the screen and camera when checking out pics. Thankfully it ain't a hardware thing.
Until Google fixes the stock viewer, here is a solution that works for me.
arrtoodeetoo said:
Q: Photos in the stock viewer are blurred when scaled to fit the screen. How do I view my DLSR pics and other high quality photos without the blur?
A: Download QuickPic from the market (free). It's a photo viewer that scales correctly without garbling photos.

Yep, I have noticed the same, and my Vibrant had the same issue with it's gallery App when it first came out, it was eventually fixed.

blurry front camera

Hello guys , i just bought a s5 but i notice that the front camera looks blurry. I tiried turning off beauty face and play with the options but it doesn't seem to correct it. I don't know if this is a software problem or what
We have no way of knowing either because you didn't even provide a sample photo or detailed information about your settings or how you use the camera.
Without those crucial details, all we can do is make random guesses. Perhaps you aren't holding the camera steady. Or have a fingerprint over the camera aperture. Or innumerable other causes. You need to provide a lot more information if you hope to narrow down the cause.

Front camera has only 2Mpx
| Tapatalk | Samsung Galaxy S5 | G900F |
so sorry to resurrect this thread.. but with snapdragon camera app (which now almost all roms are using [mostly without mentioning]), the front camera image is so good. BUT when you use apps like whatsapp or imo and try to use it internally (via the app itself), the pallid blurry and ridiculous image reappears.... any solution to that?
I take the photo with the stock Samsung app, and then share it via WhatsApp or whatever I'm using
WhatsApp is terrible for camera/video, won't focus half the time, most other camera apps are a lot lower quality than the stock Samsung one, which is why a lot of people stick with TW ROMs

Camera Noise

When I take pictures with the stock camera, I notice that the camera shows everything as really grainy. The photo itself is fine, but it is really frustrating not knowing what the picture will look like before taking it. I've attached two images demonstrating what I mean - one is a screenshot of the camera before taking the picture, and the other is the picture itself. Any tips or experience with this issue? Thanks!
I have indeed noticed that too. As the picture itself tends to turn out fine, I haven't paid too much attention to it though. Perhaps it's related to auto HDR being on?

Not much of a high deal for me either, but worth mentioning. I'll experiment with settings and other cameras and see if there's a difference.
