[CLOSED] Can I unroot supersu with these easy steps? - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hey all, just looking for a bit of clarification. I want to get rid of SuperSU and go with magisk. Been reading a few guides and just want to make sure I have all my affairs in order.
It seems I can just unroot in the SuperSU settings and flash magisk. Do i absolutely NEED to flash a stock boot image and do I need to download that from a website or is it on my phone? I've used xposed framework but I uninstalled everything related to that.
Seems I am all set for unroot, just want to make sure I am not missing anything vital. If it counts for anything I am using a Moto G4 plus XT1641 on MM 6.0.1

there are already 3 threads for same thing! READ BEFORE POSTING!

[Q] Rooting Canadian Note 3 Lollipop 5.0 N900W8 (N900W8VLU2DOC4)

Hi guys,
as the title says I need to root my Canadian Note 3 Lollipop 5.0 N900W8 (N900W8VLU2DOC4).
So far I saw this post, do you think it will work before I even try out because I am scared to brick my phone.
Any help with files links are appreciated. I know chainfire haven't come up with 5.0 for Canadian note 3. Please help if there is any other alternative to root it.
Thank you all!!!
I can confirm that I flashed TWRP on a stock 5.0 N900W8 (Bell) via Odin, but I did not root. I tried, but the SuperSU I installed didn't take. If I had seen the post you linked to, I would have tried that file, though.
For me, without Xposed, I don't see a reason to root. Maybe once they get a functional non alpha version up and going I might go back. I just disable and hide the bloat.
I used Xposed before too, so you saying Xposed doesn't work with Note 3 Lollipop rooted ?
Moreover I wish someone can input more to this thread to atleast I can root it for now and then when Xposed become compatible I will install that.
My main reason to root is to install Adblocker via Xposed framework.
Thanks

According to the official Xposed thread:

"Known issues:
- It seems to boot loop on Samsung stock ROMs"
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... But they are working on it. If it's that important you can always try a different ROM
Thanks for the reply!, I guess after rooting I can always goto another custom ROM, but will miss touchwiz.
All I want to accomplish is good adblocking, which I found xposed did good job.

So, there isnĀ“t a safe way yet to root the n900w8? I have this version, but I'm from Mexico, my bootloader is N900W8UBU2DOE4, I don't know if this makes a difference about the rooting process...
Hope you can help me.

I had some memory issue and had to do an update, which took out my root as well. I can't root it either. :crying:

[Q] Rooting and TWRP

Hello there everyone! May you guys please help me to root and install TWRP on my device? Well basically I have a little knowledge when it comes to rooting and flashing (GT-n7000), but I really have no idea how to deal with S5, so I really need your help badly. First of all, I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy S5, about device info:
S5 - SM-6900F - Lollipop 5.0 - G900FDXU1BOE1 - LRXT21T.G900FDXU1BOE1
I have a couple of questions, and I hope you guys would be able to help me.
1.) I'm not sure what bootloader version I have, I was told that I need the latest version. I'm not sure how to check.
2.) Is there a method to install TWRP (currently using stock recovery) and Root the device without using ODIN? I'm a bit skeptic about ODIN, I prefer flashing zips, though if there will be no choice, well I guess I have to deal with it. If there will be a method to do these both (rooting and TWRP installation) without ODIN, I'll be more than happy to read it thoroughly.
3.) I know this is a bit demanding, but can please someone tell me the step by step instructions on how to do this stuff in sequence? (bootloader update, rooting, customer recovery - installation of TWRP/Ktoonz).
4.) Links for the latest downloads (TWRP, SuperSU, bootloader and etc. - of course something that is compatible with my device)
Sorry if the post is too long, demanding and sounds like a total newbie (well technically, yes), but I really need your help guys. I know that some of my questions can be answered if I do backreading (which I always do), but I don't really have much time these days (I'm not lazy, it's just that I'm too busy). Thank you very much in advance for all of your help.
install phone info app from playstore to ceck your bootloader and info
just use the search option here or google.com

Help Root G900W8 Lollipop

Hello,
I really want to root my G900W8 Galaxy S5 which currently has Lollipop, all I really need is root I would like to keep the original Rom. I've been reading a lot on this forum but most options need you too install a new rom as I understand it. I really don't care about nox either as I'm out of the warranty any how. Can you please provide a quick guide or direct me to one that would be best.
Flash this with ODIN 3.10.6
http://download.chainfire.eu/406/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-kltecan-kltevl-smg900w8.zip
So flashing that will I still be at Lollipop 5.0 or does this downgrade me to 4.4.2 I would prefer to stay with 5.0 if possible. Also do I still need to install Super SU and gaps?
Yes it will stay on LP
No it doesn't downgrade you to KK
No you don't need SuperSU, CF Auto Root installs that for you
Why would you need Gapps? You're not flashing a custom ROM
There are no more steps needed or I would have included them in the instructions on how to root your phone - wouldn't be much good if I missed steps out or flashed your phone to a completely different version of Android when you asked specifically how to root Lollipop...
But you know, if you took some time to read some of the thousands of threads with all this info in them, you'd know all this
Shouldn't be messing about with things before you've done some self-educating, or your next thread will be asking how to unbrick your S5
I was already well experienced with Android (Different device) when I got my S5, but I didn't start rooting or messing until I'd spent a few weeks reading a shed load of threads in the S5 forums, until I was 100% sure I knew what I was doing
Word of Advice: Go find the EFS partition backup thread before doing anything else
Thanks so much for the help

Rooting a S5 G900F. Total newbie.

Last week I received a brand new S5 G900F, no carrier, and want to have administrator privileges in order to remove bloatware. Plus, it would be nice to have adblock and apps to back up the entire system, both which aren't available in the phone's stock form, and maybe a custom ROM and Kernel.
I have never rooted a phone nor messed with its system files, so I'm a complete newbie on this. Also, I haven't connected it to the Internet yet, so that the phone is in its stock form before rooting it.
What's the simplest, safest yet effective method for rooting my phone? Afterwards, can I just update the phone to the latest version using the regular system settings menu, or should I do it externally (downloading the update on the PC)? Any particular tips on what to do next, such as what apps to remove, which to install and so on, if possible while keeping it simple? I read that CM 12.1 (ROM) + Ktoonsez (Kernel) is the way to go.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Avensvvvvvv
The best, safeest way to Root? - Have a look in the Q&A Forum, its mostly all here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700073
Some people use TowelRoot...
I used CF Auto root and found it easier. You can find here at XDA or at http://droidors.com/2015/03/24/root-samsung-galaxy-s5-sm-g900i-android-lollipop-5-0/ be aware that this link is for the g900i ot the g900f.
As for updating etc....a lot of the latest ROMS come with OTA (over the air) updates. Which ROMS? There is kind of a rule here that you dont ask which ROM is best because the idea is that you do loads of reading and try them out for yourself Lately Ive been playing around with PhoeniX ROM, Alliance ROM and some of the CM stuff...but all are good. Removal of Bloatware is pretty straight forward using Titanium Backup - or some ROMS supply their own method for doing do. Just be sure to not mess around with any of the system files while your still learning. Search Bloatware and you should find some good advice.
Thats about it mate - the main thing is to read, read, read and ask lots of questions before you do anything. Otherwise you'll have a very expensive paperweight on your desk Most of the people here are cool with Noobs asking questions in the correct forums....by the way this post should really be posted in the Q&A forum
Good luck flashing and rooting...and most of all....have fun!
Mugsyfied
You have a good answer in the above post.....
But in future, you need to give us more information about your device so that we can offer advice that is suited more exactly to your circumstances....
The version of Android currently running on your device is one critical bit of info you didn't provide.....
Some things to bear in mind about your phone....
1) Samsung have included something called Knox on these phones....it is basically an un-resettable 'eFuse' which 'tripps' when you flash any custom software to your device. Samsung are using it as an indicator to allow them to deny warranty claims.
2) when you root your phone you WILL trip knox, this will probably prevent you from receiving OTA updates to your device....and even if (by some miracle) you did get an OTA, it will remove your root access, and you'll have to start again....

Need help with verizon galaxy s7 edge root/twrp/xposed framework

I rooted my phone just fine and installed xposed but when it came time to install the firmware it wouldnt work. My phone is a samsung galaxy s7 edge from verizon sm-g935v running on 6.0.1 can anyone please post the links to re root my phone due to I uninstalled supersu in my panic and then the links and a very quick step by step on how to install xposed and the framework? If needed I can pay a little bit for your time. also when it comes to the framework can you tell me what one I download due to there are multiple when ever I click on the link and I cant tell the difference. If it would help we can talk on skype. Please tell me if this is against the rules as I can edit this post to remove any part of it that is against them. I really need the help haha thanks for reading this.
Yeah I had same version as you but went to 935U because Verizon apps doesn't come with that (you can install some Verizon apps at Google play). Mine is non rooted though because the roots really kill battery at the moment.
Anyways I would do this if you want to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...de-flashing-sm-935u-firmware-verizon-t3415145 follow ALL directions so you can have a better experience. Also tells you how to install xposed/framework. As far as twrp if you are using US version which I believe you are you might have some trouble installing it. I'm sure someone can help you out with Twrp though.
