Playing with my new M3 and ive noticed one discrepancy. It has a working B009 C100 (eu firmware) installed but when i enter the dialler for the show country information the country code is spcseas.
I bought this from Hong Kong (sent to the uk) but will this different hw country affect anything such as OTA updates? If so, how do i go about changing it (im guessing i need to unlock, root etc)
Im used to rooting and custom roms on Nexus devices but Huwawei is entirely new territory for me.
(My ultimate goal is to get Nougat but it doesnt seem to be arriving OTA and every single firmware finder one ive tried has broken Bluetooth).

Can I Switch Between Official ROMs on LG G6 (KT Telecom "LG-G600K" to "non-carrier")?
Hey all, just a quick question… what's LG's devices traditionally been like when it comes to installing ROMs from other region? Is this something doable?
I'm hoping to one day, perhaps swap to a more plain-vanilla ROM that doesn't have pre-installed much bloatware. I recall installing/upgrading LG's phones in the past using the official .kdz files, and I'm curious if I could do the same…
I bought a South Korean LG G6 (model: LG-G600k) and it's riddled with carrier bloatware. There's a few traces of Korean-specific services as well that I wish I could get rid of…
Newer lg devices ( g4 , g5 ) is only having 10 percent of support as compared to old models like g3 , g2.
If you install a rom of different carrier (with same device model and region) in your phone it may work if both carriers are using same bands.
If you install a rom of different carrier of different region ( with same device model ) it will give you ntt code error.
We can not install international model rom ( non Carrier ) to any Carrier specific model.
Until root is achieved you can try to disable unwanted apps.
If you have your phone inhand please provide system dump it will be helpful for further development.
Thanks for the answer!
Basically, the best bet on removing bloatware (and traces of Korean-specific services/UI elements) is by flashing a custom ROM; once root is achieved and custom recovery is made…, correct me if I'm wrong!
Also, I can only flash other Korean-based ROM (carrier built, or otherwise factory ROM) into this LGM-G600K. Am I right?
I'll look into providing a system dump. I did it once many many years ago; not sure if I remember.
@hidea
Yeah you are right
But you can always try other roms with same model number. For eg lg g5 h960 model released in india as well as in Indonesia. So roms of these model can be switched with eachother .
Now I'm having open euro h850 international model of g5 i can switch to tim Italy rom but cant switch to Vodafone rom ( gave me ntt code error ). Vodafone Germany and tim Italy both carriers are using h850 model but i can switch only to tim Italy.
So there's no hard and fast rule for switching roms with same Device model. You can always try which rom works for you. But don't try to flash other model rom to your device.
Sry for eng.
I Have the same phone, LGM-g600k, I disable all KT apps , but still have some ones in the phone, i search for a firmware for flash into our phone but without success.
hello! were anyone of you able to root G600k, or change the region, or do anything to remove KT specific poo from the phone? i'm not able to enable volte and its frustrating since the carrier here only works on volte
I live in Switzerland and bought the phone in the US (after i dropped the old phone in the ocean). So my phone is on the "retus" channel and may not have the right bands for use in europe. I rooted it and updated to nougat (using the latest rom from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4/development/fxz-athene-twrp-flashable-fastboots-t3562147) but the phone stayed on retus. Having Nugat is nice, having the right location would be nicer - any ideas how to change?
Hello all,
So I'm tempted to buy a Tim-branded S8 on Amazon.it because it's crazy cheap currently. I'm not in Italy but from what I've gathered online (and confirmed by a review on the product's page on Amazon), branding in Italy doesn't mean sim-locking so it should be usable with my local carrier. I'm in Europe anyway.
The only major difference with an unlocked phone (since it doesn't seem to have any hardware trace of the carrier) will be the software : potential TIM-related bloatware, delays for updates, etc.
My question would be : could it be possible to flash an official "clean" image, without affecting the phone and its warranty ? If so, which reference should I use ?
Thank you very much !
Yes, was going to ask if it was also sim locked.?
What county are you in and what sim do you use?
Out the box, if sim unlocked, it will work anyway.
Unless you want any advanced features.
Fw wise it's not a problem. I went the other way though, flashing EE ( UK) firmware into an unbranded unlocked BTU version to get VoLTE to work. It caused no issues.
Belgium but I guess European models pretty much have all bands available across Europe...
Thanks for the feedback !
I have the tim s8 here in the UK, flashed the h3g firmware and have WiFi calling and volte functioning without issue.

hi
Im also interested in buying a tim branded phone (https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B071RSVYSH/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A11IL2PNWYJU7H&psc=1) and was hoping if someone who has one could answer me couple of questions.
1) Does the phone have universal warranty? I mean if something was wrong with it and it needed any repair, could I just take it to a local Samsung store?
2) The model number on amazon site is G950, is that different from G950F? i couldn't find any reliable info on this..
Thanks in advance!
If the phone is designed for the European market then warranty applies regardless where you are (within Europe).
All European models are F-models.
You can flash an unbranded ROM through Odin to get rid of any branding which does not trigger Knox.
it appears the AUS tab a 8 "SM-T350" stopped receiving updates at March 17th 2017 QA1 6.0.1 while 3 other regions got updated to 7.1.1 QJ1 October 15th and 16th.
I have already seen this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/help/stuck-flashing-region-restart-t3683613 and I am wondering if flashing, for example, the U.S. version (cellular south) on the Australia model (with exact same model number) would be prohibited in Odin or if it does actually flash, what's the likelihood that the bootloader would be inoperable / bricked?
in my experiences, attempting to flash an incorrect (wrong model or old version) bootloader, Odin just errors. but in this case I don't see any reason Odin would refuse to do it

The ROM from different regions will normally flash without a problem. The difference is usually the available wifi channels and the regional locks on apps like Netflix. It is typical for Samsung to release updates by region and if it is a major one, I will usually flash the first region released. Of course I'm talking about Wifi only tablets. Cell phone tablets, because of the differing techs, are another matter.
As long as it's wifi model, region doesn't matter. All wifi tablets sold worldwide actually are the same tablets, so it doesn't matter which firmware you're flashing to it.
However, if you flash US firmware to an Australia tablet, it will only be recognized by Samsung server as an US tablet and follow new updates of US tablet.
Like my SM-T580, SM-P580, when Nougat is available in German or Korea, I did not hesitate to flash the new firmware. When Nougat is available in US, I flash back the US version.
For the purpose of bypass FRP, I am willing to flash Hongkong, Afghanistan firmware if it works with a certain method to unlock FRP ( Factory Reset Protection). After that, I am going to flash back
the latest US's firmware.
In short, you're free to flash whatever firmware you like to a wifi tablet. LTE tablet is a different story as bootloader is locked.
I have an s7 edge handset that was originally on the uk Three network, but is now sim unlocked (I can use an O2 sim in it with no issues, but it shows the 3 splash screen on boot) but it hasnt yet recieved the oreo update,m and given it only got nougat in February, I doubt we will see it soon
So Ive been reading up about manually flashing Oreo via Odin, as there are releases of Oreo for other uk versions (unlocked/other networks etc.), and it seems I cn flash a BTU uk version ( G935FXXU2ERE8 )onto my Three network S7 edge (G935FXXS2DRA9 ) using Odin
I just want to double check that this will work, wont brick the phone, and will essentially turn it into a factory unlocked model, which will recieve OTAs via samsung directly.
Thanks to anyone who can help
