stretched background photos. - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

How can I solve the problem of streaked backgrounds?
when I set a picture taken from my archive as a background it extends all over.

I don't own the device, but I ALWAYS use Tholotis from the play store for backgrounds. You can opt not to crop the picture, and I think it does a good job of fitting it to the screen.

Thanks but didn't help me.
I resolve with the app Image 2 wallpaper. The best one to set image on this phone.

Wrong resolution walls for Desire on Zedge!!!

I was checking zedge.net and found the wallpapers were posted there all of so small resolution. At first I thought it was the 480*800 resolution but then found the HD2 walls were right, but not Desire's. Why?
Its because as you swipe through the screens the wallpaper moves. I don't have a problem with them
While you're right about the wallpaper moving, the Zedge files are oversized. Try to set a standard wallpaper using the built-in function, not Zedge. You'll be brought to a screen with a crop rectangle that you can move around the picture, to select what will be shown on the screen. The crop is significantly smaller than the actual image.
The problem is... even the HTC original wallpapers are too large, as well. I don't think it's a Zedge-only issue. I wonder how the N1 handles standard wallpapers...

Try giving that crop rectangle a pull at one of the corners or sides.
Thanks for the tip, I had no idea you could resize the crop rectangle
Well... I guess that leaves just Zedge acting weirdly...

Samsung Vibrant Wallpapper Expanded?

I just recently bought a Samsung vibrant from t-mobile and i want to set a background of a photo. At first it tells me to crop a certain part of the photo then expands it and looks all pixelated. I searched around and theres this app called "wallpaper set and save" which didnt set the whole image as the background. is there any way of setting a full image as a background and the phone auto adjusts?

Android lets you crop the picture when it's too big. If you touch the edges of the crop square, and drag it out, you can change the size of the cropped area, you might be able to drag it out all the way to encompass the entire image. Also, it shouldn't be pixellating the image unless the resolution is way low, like 170x200 low.

if u want them to fit PERFECT the Image has too be 960x800 i will be makin wallpapers so stay tuned -----here are some of my other i tweaked for the MT3g & Nexus but i was making the nexus 50 pixels larger instead of 960x800 i was making them 960 x850

the image is bigger than the full crop window. so when i try to crop it it crops half the photo and expands it to fit the full screen therefore making it pixelated. its a photo that wasnt taken by the phone btw.
I'm having the same problem. I downloaded some 480x800 wallpapers and when I try to set the wallpaper, it asks me to crop part of the image and does not let you encompass the whole the thing. How are you supposed to set the wallpaper?
As stated above, make the image 960*800.

Ahhh, I see. It works now, thanks a lot!
I still find the whole cropping thing a pain. I had images set at 960X800 but the cropping tool never lets me select it properly. I either end up with a small black band at the top and bottom or I have to under size it. I found this on the Market that lets you just set the image without cropping and it works on the Vibrant: "Application Utility".

Problems after Flikie HD

Not sure if anyone else has had the problem, but I downloaded the wallpaper app Flikie HD. It was cropping the wallpapers too much and the wallpapers ending up looking crappy so I uninstalled. Now when I go to set ANY wallpaper it doesn't let me crop the picture to the proper resolution. The green crop box is really narrow and not very tall at all. Any way to fix this problem? Any help is appreciated!
You can adjust the size of the green crop box...
I know, the green box doesn't get very big. It gets wide but not tall. Very narrow.

[Q] Wallpaper issue

When I use gallery/select/set as/wallpaper and crop as necessary, the displayed wallpaper is always larger than what I cropped to so not all of it shows up, hope that makes sense
What am I doing wrong?
I can't answer your question about how to crop your images for wallpaper, but I use the Mulitipicture Live Wallpaper app and it shows (and rotates) my photos so that they fit the screen.
ok, will have a look at that.

Great tip! Nice app sorts out the issue with wallpapers like it a lot.

Wallpaper Not Setting Correctly

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a wallpaper issue I am having. I downloaded some 960x540 (or 540x960) wallpaper images and when I try to set them as the wallpaper using the stock ROM's cropping tool, the cropping tool displays the wallpaper image very large so that you are only able to crop a small portion of it to use as the background. I am wondering why it should not just be able to crop the entire image because it is the exact same size as the screen? Another strange thing I found was that sometimes I use Zedge to download wallpaper and they are not the correct size of the display and are usually larger (i.e. 800x480), but they show up smaller in the crop tool and I am able to crop a larger portion of them. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this? For now I am using an app called Wallpaper Changer which witll set the wallpaper to fit the screen exactly, but I kind of didn't want to have another app running for this. Thank you in advance!
I would l like some info on this too. Same issue here. Downloading correct resolution image but only able to display a chunk of it.

This is actually the Android OS's fault. Because Android is made to work in both Portrait and on Landscape (even if your launcher locks orientation), selling the wallpaper will encompass both. I ran into this problem myself when I went to make my own wallpaper. The easiest solution is to find a square image, preferably 960x960 or larger. I've included the wallpaper I made and how it looks on my phone.
