Hello guys. I made this thread to ask you how can I install XAPs on my Nokia Lumia 520. I unlocked boot loader using WP Internals and now I need some direction
-Should I root my device? If Yes, What should I do afterwards?
-Should I keep unlocked boot loader and not proceed to root?
All I want is to be able to install unlimited number of XAP as I want to use some interesting programs. If Possible, Please tell me how to install the XAP. Thanks in Advance.

Towel Root
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
If you have a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP, you just need to download the SuperSU zip from their website and flash the zip in recovery
i haven't done anything to the phone yet, its as it would be out of the box just with my apps and settings on. Would towel root work on 4.4.4? and how would i check if my boot loader is locked or unlocked? thanks
Just check my guide on how to root the nexus 4 without wiping data. It explains how to use Towelroot to root the device and how to unlock the bootloader then (if desired). You may find it in the stickies
does anyone have any information about rooting my s5 with my mac, or is it going to be easier to partition my hard drive and install windows and do it that way ?
thanks in advance nuffz
There are ways to root using a mac, however rooting with windows is much more versatile and you can very easily recover if something screwes up, and you can also use more methods, such as installing a custom recovery from there and installing the supersu package from that recovery, whics is the most reliable method in my opinion.
If you want to be safe, install bootcamp + some version of windows and root from there.
Ok Thanks for your reply I will do that. By any chance do you now how I can get a version of Windows or is it a case of buying it? If don't really want to spend £100 on Windows just to root my s5

Hey guys. I registered here a while ago, but this is my first post.
I recently updated my Huawei P8 Lite (ALE-L04) to lollipop. Anyways, I want to unlock the bootloader and root my phone, but to even start that I need drivers for my computer to detect my phone. I tried installing HiSuite and it couldn't detect my phone. Can anyone provide me some links on where to download the proper drivers for my computer to be able to detect my phone please? As far as unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone, I think I can do that part (Huawei has a tutorial for it I think). Any help would be great. Thanks!
hi, try with the universal adb driver.

Thank you very much guys. I unlocked the bootloader for my phone now. Huawei only provided the tutorial for unlocking the bootloader.
I tried the rooting method for ALE-L21, but that doesn't work for ALE-L04. On one of the steps where it says I should be in a black screen recovery mode (no GUI), I get a white screen recovery asking me to connect my phone to my computer and run HiSuite. I did search around (not too deep) and couldn't find a solid method of rooting for the ALE-L04.

kingroot only works on 4.4.4, for 5.1 you have to flash supersu through TWRP
I've tried Kingo Root and it failed (before knowing that it doesn't support lollipop).
And I tried rooting my phone using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/step-step-guide-to-unlock-bootloader-t3150616
I read your assertion that "I upgraded my P8 ALE-L04 to Android Lollipop (6.0?)..."
I want to do that too, but I don't know how? Can you help me please?

hi,friend, can you backup qcn send me?
Hi guys, I am happy to post this thread because now the Lumia 950 and 950 XL users can unlock their bootloader easily
Just follow the steps in order to unlock your bootloader :-
1. Download the Windows Phone Internals 2.4 tool (I attached it below)
2. Connect your Lumia 950/ 950 XL to your PC.
3. Extract and then run the tool.
4. You should be able to see your device information.
5. Now in the left pane, click on the Unlock bootloader option.
6. Follow On-Screen instructions.
7. And that's all, your bootloader will be unlocked. :good:
Note: By unlocking the bootloader the Windows Hello program (IRIS Scanner) won't be working anymore
If you want to use your IRIS Scanner then you should not unlock your bootloader. It is the limitation of the SecureBoot Unlock V.2 used the device.
By unlocking the bootloader you will be able to backup all the partitions of the device (including MainOS and Data)
Do it at your own risk!!

Hey guys, I've found the unlock process is not reliable. I'm getting it to work about 15% of times. Are you also having troubles with the unlocking process?
By the way, a friend of mine is also having the same problem.
Is there any way to increase the success rate?
Thanks.

Can you elaborate what's happening? And if you are talking about the completion of the unlocking process then it's still under development and you can expect it very soon. Let's hope for the best.
BTW which battery are you using in your Lumia 950 XL bcoz the original one dies soon and I'm using the extended Mugen battery. its pretty cool.
sad wait long ! Windows 10

It seems it's the official thread for these kinds of problems.
Is this working on the latest version of Windows 10 Mobile?
Good evening I would like to know what are the benefits of unlocking the bootloader, thank you and apologize for my English.
Hi, I tried to unlock the bootloader but after 64 attempts I received an error message and now the device is blocked do you have any suggestions?

Can you tell exactly what happened with your device? And currently in what state is your device?
Note: Never try after 5 or more attempts while unlocking the bootloader if you get the same error again and again.
P.S. I don't use this device anymore but I'll try to help or otherwise you can directly contact the Microsoft team if something is seriously wrong.

You might need to flash stuff like recovery_ramdisk, recovery_vendor and recovery2 BUT am not really sure about the partitions and how they work together...
If it boots still up, connect with PC using HiSuite to re-install latest firmware
Last (and reliabily) solution is HWOTA on XDA

There are plenty solutions, written on this forum...
I had to downgrade to nougat via HiSuite and then DC unlock was able to read out the bootloader code... If you have the code you could upgrade again to latest firmware, again HiSuite is helpful there...
Then search for a TWRP thread here and follow the instructions! Bit reading first is recommended, I ****ed the thing so badly, I needed 2 days to make it boot again!
I owned all nexus devices, pixel 2, 3 and even some OnePlus and Huawei is definitely the worst to handle, tricky stuff - so either research or repair to get the needed information  lol

It should provide the latest version of EMUI of recognizes your device correctly....
Otherwise Google for:
-how to 'dload' (with latest firmware from 'huawei firmware finder', you can get a windows version of it from their homepage, if you have no working Android device, in best case you directly download to the phone and use recovery to upgrade)
-on XDA is a project called 'HWOTA', which my help you updating
Good luck Buddy!
