Strange microphone crackle coming from the left microphone - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

After using the Axon 7 for some months I've noticed this constant issue where when recording videos or audio, the left channel has this faint (but still noticeable and annoying) crackling noise if recording in a room with little noise. When recording in an area with a lot of background noise (like in the city or at a party) the crackle isn't noticeable.
Phone has been updated to the latest version and I have tried to factory reset the phone but it still didn't work. Cleaning out the microphones didn't work either.
Anyone know of a way to fix this?

I sometimes get crackle during playback when Dolby is on. Try turning off Dolby?

Same problem, can't find a fix, so annoying.

Hissing background noise when recording video

Hi,
Just got my new xperia arc and whilst it is a great phone I've found that there is a loud hissing noise (like rain) when recording video. I've uploaded a video to show the problem. Ah, just tried to post the link but I've been told I can't as I'm newly registered...
Others I've messaged have the same problem but there doesn't seem to be a fix. Are there any suggestions as this really kills the HD video function for me...
yeah I have the same problem, I think it got slightly improved with the updates.
try updating.
The phone is upated to the latest firmware t-mobile have to offer. I guess the only other option is to debrand and install generic firmware?
my phone is debranded, I tried uk, Global and Hong Kong, they're all the same.
So why isn't this problem more widely reported then? It pretty much kills the video recording capabilities.
I've experienced that too.
Try not to obstruct the first microphone with your right hand, the first microphone is at the bottom of the phone. Check if that solves the issue
It doesn't solve the issue, my fingers are nowhere near either mic hole.
I've also tried some test videos where I cover up each of the mic holes with my finger. I've tried covering up mic 1, mic 2 and then both. Now, strangely, when covering up the mic my voice does get a little muffled but the crackling/hiss does not change.
This indicates to me that this is a possible software issue i.e. compression of the audio or the way it is recorded, rather than the mics physically picking up the hissing.
If the mics were picking up this hissing (i.e. too sensitive etc) then covering up the mic hole would give some change, which it doesn't.

Camera recording produces static noise - Anyone else?

Does anyone else's phone do this: if you record a video in a quiet room and then play it back on full volume, you will hear an audio static noise. My original plus 32GB Aluminum 6P and 2 RMA replacements all have this issue. I haven't seen much reporting about this so I don't know how widespread it is. It's even worse when you cast your google photos onto your TV.
Would be interested in someone with a sound proof room to try this. That would tell us if there is a sound there that the mic picks up but our ears just don't. Not that that fixes the problem...
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I've also noticed that when playing back videos on photos.google.com it will not have as loud of a static noise. Maybe this is some software issue.
I've added a poll to see if it's just a select few phones that are doing this. I don't want to keep getting replacements if they are all broken
Static and clicking noise
I have the same issues as you. I recorded a video at night, while in bed, and I caught the issue. I can only heart it when I turn the volume up (~+75%). The reason I did this was because my phone has a buzz/click sound when I plug headphones into the 3.5mm jack. When I pay music or video, I can not hear the static.
Just picked up mine and I also have this issue. Hope it's a SW problem.
Yeah It only happens to my recorded videos after I turn up the volume as well
Still having issues with this. Can even hear static when using a voice recorder

Buzzing distortion sound through earphones when download of sth is in progress?

Hi,
I've been experiencing an issue since I've had this phone for a little more than 1 month.
If I'm wearing my wired earphones (don't have Bluetooth ones) and the phone makes use of the network (as when a video or a song starts to load) I can hear a buzzing distortion sound in the background as long as the download is in progress. In fact, I have a network speed meter on the status bar and when I'm not doing anything the phone jumps from OB/s to 1kB/s every once in a while (which is normal) also resulting in an audible hissing sound in the background through the earphones.
What the hell is this? It's pretty annoying especially when a YouTube video begins to play.
Nothing here
Yup, pretty normal when poor isolation of RF is done hardware-wise. There is probably nothing software that can be done about it except for better frequency filtering on hardware/driver side.
You pretty much have to live with it; back when I still had my Axon I barely noticed it and only when I was lying in bed right before sleep.
I doubt @front firing speakers does not have it on his phone.
You have to be in a very silent environment and set the volume to really really low to be able to notice it.
The Nexus 9 tablet is also very prominent in this regard, or the Nexus 7 2013 speakers (not headphones). A variety of devices have this issue.
What you could do to confirm it is hook up and oscilloscope to your 3.5mm input jack, play a video at exactly ZERO volume and look at the frequency of the signal you got there

Galaxy S8 Clicking noise coming from earpiece

I recently started to hear faint clicking/ticking noises coming from the earpiece while having phone calls on my S8 (I heard those noises in the past but I thought they were caused by the other person on the call).
I downloaded an app called "Earpiece" (that lets you listen to music trough the earpiece instead of the speakers) and the ticking noises persist (even if I'm not having a phone call).
What's even weirder than that, I actually discovered that the earpiece makes those noises all the time (even when I'm not listening to anything and I'm not having a phone call), but they are not that loud.
I found that if I turn Airplane Mode on (without Wifi enabled), the noises stop. To give you some concrete examples:
- Connected to network( + WiFi on): Earpiece makes those noises at all times.
- Airplane Mode on + Wifi on: Earpiece makes noises at all times.
- Airplane Mode on + WiFi off: Earpiece doesn't make any noises. If I listen to offline music trough the earpiece (using "Earpiece" app) there are also no clicking noises.
* Those clicking noises don't have a constant rythm (they sometimes stop for a second or two).
*If I press my ear to the earpiece a bit, I can hear them very very well.
What do you think might cause this?
Thanks.
I am also suffering from a similar issue.
I haven't much noticed if it is there with wifi on or off etc, but it is really irritating.
Samsung says if you can prove we can refund, but it is really difficult to prove. I have noticed that when I press the phone hard on my ears the noise diminishes but doesn't go away.
is your problem solved, please share an update or any other please suggest a workaround.
Thanks
even i am facing same issue after updating to 8.0 beta version
Strange clicking from my Samsung S8+.
I have been hearing a strange clicking sound from my smartphone. Not being used or on charger, it makes this clicking sound that is very quiet but others do hear it. Is there an app that would cause this?
Having same issue seems to be the WiFi makes faint clicking noises while it's transferring data back and to anyone resolved the problem. Only an issue while I am on the phone
I have this issue as well- but it is so quiet you can't hear it unless the room your in in pretty silent
If you open the camera app and listen to the call speaker it gets alot worse. Think it's the WiFi mechanism vibrating against the outo focus mechanism of the camera

Recording issue in some apps

I have been facing strange issue while recording videos from Instagram and Snapchat.
When i record a video, The audio in recorded video gets played fine for like 1-2 seconds. But after that, sound gets muffled like something is blocking the mic from sensing impedance. However mic is not blocked.
While recording of video in Gcam or Mi Cam is just perfect as it should, So my microphone is not faulty but there are some codec issues that is culprit for muffled sound in video recording.
I have tried Dual Speaker mod to see if it helps, I tried to disable noise cancellation sensor just in case it is causing trouble but nothing helped.
I faced same issue on every ROM i flashed.
Am i the only one facing such issue?
I have exactly the same issue!!!
