[Q] i want to install cyanogenmod 9 on my samsung galaxy y help me...

uhh... guys i hav a sgy and i wanna install cyanogen mod 9 on it. sooo i hav senn forums on this but had no luck. i want a final version of cyanogen mod for my sgy all i hav seen r betas for devs wch are full of lag and bugs i need a final version wch is proper and i also need a software to backup all the stuff on my phone to my pc (ps:i dont want mediago) wch can backup literely everything on my sgy to my pc including contacts messages ect everything and i hav creeds rom rite now an old version of it soo do i need cyanogen mod 7 flashed and installed before installing cyanogenmod 9 guys plz reply ASAP need help! :cyclops:

creating thread asking for a build to come out of beta won't do any good - its in beta because there are some complex patches which are either in the making or they are impossible to make ATM because of limited availability of sources/documentation and/or incompatibility with existing libs.
also afaik you don't need cm7 to flash cm9 but you do need a supported kernel
why fix it if it ain't broken ?

Its easy to ask for a rom but it is very hard to make. We only have betas because our sources are not conpleted unlike galaxy mini, ace, etc please stop posting things like this. You can't just ask for stable versions. If you want. Then build it yourself.

thxxx guys ! i hav downloaded a unofficial version of cmmod 9for sgy will it work allri8 on my sgy. and i also need a software to backup everything on my phone to the pc. literally everything! including messages , contacts,etc ,apk's,data i need software for that soo plz could gimme a link r a name of a good software pc? (PS: i dont want media go)

For contacts, you can simply export contacts data to memory card, for backing up SMS you can search SMS backup and restore in Play Store. And lastly, Titanium Backup can backup your apps and data.

A NOTE TO EVERYONE ASKING FOR CM9:
This is a developer's only release,
it is unstable, unusable, useless, buggy, laggy build,
we got it booting, and made some things appear,
that is all,
unless you are a developer trying to fix the bugs and provide a workaround to those issues,
feel free to install,
if you are a basic user and just want CM9 for lulz or fun or if you think it is usable,
be my guest and flash it, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

You are nuts! When CM9 was booted so lately on galaxy Y, you expect a final version to come out without broadcomm drivers, EH?
Well you might not be knowing this S#!t as it is only known to devs. Well hear it, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get even a Release Candidate for SGY while M Snapshot will be available by 20-30%.
Talking 'bout M snapshot and release candidate? These are versions of CyanogenMod. Hope this discussion is sufficient enough for you to understand! (Edit : Though I too get irritated waiting for this thing years and years! )

[Q] Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102 Need Noob Guide(basic misunderstandings)

Hi, I have a Galaxy Y Duos S6102. I have a bit of idea bout the ROM, Recovery, Kernel and Firmware so I have a few questions related to my phone which I wanna customize as much as I can.
I have been searching around and I wanna know, can we install the same ROM's/Kernels/Firmwares for both the devices? Namely Galaxy Y Duos S6102 & Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360??For eg, Hyperion+CWM/Twrp and so on...
Since we know bout the developing and ongoing stages/phases of development of different products and (Unfortunately but true, and no offense, please!) how they claim it to be stable but usually or sometimes aren't, I would be really glad to have some guidance as in what ROM/kernel/Firmware/Recovery I should be aware of and all that. I have searched all, but I am just not able to decide which ones are good, for example Hyperion seems awesome but I am not sure if it is stable or not. Also, sometimes there are combinations such as firmware+rom, and so on... i wanna know which ones has these combos and can we add in customized if we wish? For eg if the rom comes along a firmware, can we flash our own firmware as per choice? What bout stability?
At the end, I will have my pre-requisites written down here:
1. Listen to a lot of music and sometimes YouTube. Sometimes a few games, fb and such.
2. Wanna use some cool apps that requires root.
3. Need battery, a bit of performance increase too if that's ok but battery defo.
4. Customization in looks, like in AOSP and so on, not necessarily AOSP lock screen but custom looks in general(like in ViperOne, not that I wanna/intend to compare)
According to these, can I please have someone suggest me individual working combinations of ROM/Kernel/Firmware and Recovery? I know this is not ethical to ask such questions(comparison related or "What's best", respects to all developers) but I am just trying to see compatibility not asking which ones are the best. I will be greatly obliged to anyone who helps, I would much appreciate if someone who owns a similar phone and has the same mods on it will suggest so I can take some reviews bout their experience too.

yes you can install 5360 roms on duos however they will not fully work
for example you wont get dual sim support and the usb smali in the status bar is different so it wont connect to pc
you would need to correctly port them and mod some files
all roms features and bugs are on the op of each thread
stock based roms are "stable" as you put it
cm based roms will have bugs due to lack of drivers - all will be explained on the base rom used thread

read what I said carefully - you have to correctly port it to get all functions working correctly

Try using this method and see.It should work as I have ported 1 rom with this method.

use the updater script and binary from a custom stock rom for your device - normally works - you can edit the text if required

Weird, my intent was not to compare roms or anything but just to make sure the roms are "compatible" with my duos n wont strip down functionality(like dual sim, both sim r being used). I find this strange that u find it ok for everyone to try multiple combinations as u would, ignoring the fact that some people might have different priorties n maybe dont wanna play around like that. I am not asking whats best, i am askin whats not best for my phone. Can u comprehend? secondly i do understand the stock versions r more stable thats why my question remains... Being which ones r "compatibly" close-to-stock with my phone. I dont wanna brick my phone or strip down functionality, my device is different n obviously there r some things which wont b compatible for my device.. i just need a good combination of rom recovery kernel n firmware possibilites or options i can choose from with the above pre requisites. I dont see no comparision. Its like a person is simply asking what shoes will fit him the best if he has a particular size of feet. Lol

best rom threads are not allowed
this includes asking for whats the best rom to do xyz
it also includes the oposide of above ie what rom cannot do this or not best for this
all the roms features are on the op
if its a duos rom it will support dual sim unless otherwise stated in the bugs list
I shall now report this thread for closing as it seems you are trying to get which rom is best for your needs
To answer your question about shoes
well obviously if he is size 10 he will require size 10 shoes - what size 10 shoe he chooses is down to personal preference which is why what is best for him is not best for someone else who is also a size 10 - get it? thats why best threads are not allowed

1 : WiFi
2: screen and touch
And a lot not knowin yet.

1: no Sound

4: not conformed but sdcard

So I can't test the ROM right now because of a bug .
When the device boots for the first time and you go after WiFi
It will search for sim card and the ril is not working soo it won't finish searching .
So as I said it's still beta and testing.

A: soon after fixing some bugs.and it will take a lot of time to upload because of my slow internet.

MIUI is open source, and v6 is out. I recommend you try porting from the source directly. It may/may not require more effort. BTW, I had tried porting MIUI also, and RIL was working then. Try copying some related libs. I had used Aapav's CyanogenMod 11 as the base ROM.

To answer your question, none. Everyone has its own annoying bugs, or everyone is missing features that others have. Best so far was lineage os but latest update screwed up everything and the OP, for unknown reason, removed the older builds

Very useful: fast or not, battery Sot, important bugs or minor bugs, special features: vulkan, etc.
Please not fill threat with Volte and Godix. There are many fixes.
Important: post name of rom and build date!

Use any rom you want with Nagatobimaru kernel! Damn it is a great kernel.

RR cos they got wheater **** working

I used to like AospExtended, had the least bugs of all the AOSPs (i want notification and ring sliders separated)
I had to go back to MIUI tho, none of them has working mic cancellation on hangouts... its weird bcs in skype it works fine, but I can't use skype :/

Anyways, making threads asking what is the "best rom" is really pointless. Everyone loves something different, judgement is super subjective. If you were to ask me 2 years ago what the "best rom" would be, I would probably say ParanoidAndroid because of its clean interface. Fast-forward a couple months, then I would tell you that it is CrDroid, because feature packed roms are the best! Fast-forward until two months ago, I would tell you CarbonROM, because that's when I joined their team and became a developer for the ROM :silly:. Do you guys see my point? How about some constructive criticism and discussion like asking "What is your favourite N rom and why?" instead (That's what I changed the thread title to be, anyways )! So guys, what's your favourite N rom and why? Let's try to keep this discussion clear of any arguments and any XXX is better than XXX. I'll start!
AICP has been in the Android rom community for a very long time. Their head developers are cool, and they keep things organized and feature packed!

None because there's always something that end up broken. Camera, Fingerprint etc...

dirty unicorn is best 7.1 rom. fast fluid. just try one time you ll love it.

I think you should make a poll to see which rom is having the most user. About me, it is unofficial lineage os. I like that because the op there support for both fpc and goodix, and because lineage os is cyanogenmod's legacy...

Wrong SECTION. You should have posted this in Questions & Answers

It is probably almost impossible:
1 ) We need clear AOSP as a base because if not there will be so freaking much bugs to resolve that it is not worth it
2 ) MIUI require special porting way for diferent socs there are diferent sources for snapdragon, diferent for mediatek but did not see any for our kirin
3 ) It need a lot of testing reainstalling so there need to be someone who can live without his p9 Lite
4 ) There is needed someone who knows how linux works and someone who know good miui rom
5 ) Maybe it would be possible with AOSP as a base but we dont have it and it is hard to port clear aosp so will not even sit with this
6 ) You have stock EMUI which is similar you dont need MIUI
7 ) I dont have actually time to even put linux in virtual machine so wont do this
8 ) This thread is in wrong section so need to be moved to q&a but I think I answered you question
9 ) Even if it is possible you will not even try this because you have locked bootloader. So if you will unlock it to install rom so why not to unlock it now and build it on your own? Just learn how to do this. For me on my old phone it did get a week to have a booting rom. But there was clear AOSP. Here I dont know will be longer so go ahead and good luck
OK changed my mind. Will try to build based on cm13 but nothing to promise and dont know when will find some time so dont expect anything
