Hi all!
Yesterday I received a software update for my H850 (made for Italy market): v20k
Official changelog says that it includes google security patch (as of 1-aug-2017).
The size of the update is approximately 104 Mb.
Have anybody also received this update? How's your experience? What other improvements have you noticed?
Update.
I also received update in Croatia.
Lucky people... Unfortunately, the versions sold for Israel market do not offer update after version 20c. I bought my device in Romania from a reputable store but it is made for Israel, world zone IL, and no updates... Is there any way to turn it into european version, to receive firmware updates for EUR-XX and not have error messages at restart regarding wrong locale?
Thank you.
We already have it on TMO few weeks ago.

I suppose you bought the phone from QuickMobile (like me) if you have the Israelian version. And no, you cannot bypass that error message without root (which is not available on this version of H850).
Btw, do you have VoLTE?
From Pcgarage. I understand that people buying from Evomag some 2-3 month ago got the same variant. How should I check for VoLTE?

From what I have read, there should be an option in the Call sub-menu in Settings. I don't have this option.
to get this update onto stock rooted devices:
1.) backup data with TWRP
2.) download firmware update
3.) flash fw 20i with LGUP
3.) reboot phone to be able to install the 20k update (this is possible because all data are not erased!)
4.) install update
5.) reboot into fastboot mode and install TWRP
6.) reboot into TWRP and install no-verify-opt-encrypt.zip
7.) reboot into TWRP and install Magisk 14
8.) format data
9.) reboot into TWRP and restore data
10.) reboot phone and freeze all unnecessary apps
that’s it!
i followed this way and now i am on 20k rooted with Magisk 14
I'm on V20i-EUR-XX and i don't receive it

yes, but you are not living in the EU as i have seen. I am not sure, that this update will be available all over the world.
But 20k is available for H850 there -> https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h850-firmwares/#firmwaresList!
Search for Eu 20k! You can flash it with LGUP by yourself.
20k is the July security patch on TMO-US
On LG BRIDGE i have this Error
Any Solution !? :crying:

2.) if you have installed TWRP recovery, you will lose!
( in this case, you can follow my description)
if unrooted and without TWRP you will only update your phone without loosing your data!
to use LGup, you need the tool "uppercut" too!!! Otherwise LGup can’t connect to your phone!

I didn't quite understand your guide, I think.
If I have TWRP and root on a v10 software version, then I should just backup via TWRP, flash v20i via lgup, then do the Ota update to v20k, then reinstall TWRP etc. and lastly I can just restore my data via TWRP?
What do you mean here:
"3.) reboot phone to be able to install the 20k update (this is possible because all data are not erased!)"
Did you mean to say this is possible because all data is now erased?
Thx in advance and kind regards

i think yes, it should go. But you should clean cache and dalvik too.
( i tried this way only between 20i -> k, but the data storage should have only custom installed app’s and data inside.
But think about, if you have done any changes to 10i system, you will lose them because system will be fully changed after this procedure.)

No!
In the case you have downloaded the update file using the update option in setup at first, you will be now able to continue updating from i to k without new connection to the net or cloud because the update file persists in memory.
(sorry, my English seems to be not good enough to describe this procedure perfectly!)

Is this just the modem image, or the whole system.
Currently having the same problem in the exact same situation (upgrading to Marshmallow, then downgrading to B170 directly); will try your fix when I get home .
I guess that's why there's huge notices on the B170 downloads that 'your device must be on at least B052 first'...

Probably means that you need to do a complete internal system wipe via TWRP (which is recommended).
OTA validates using the IMEI, which it can't do the ROM needs the B052 baseband (which isn't present).
Seems that upgrading directly to Marshmallow also fixes the issue:
Download B170 (and install it, via Fastboot [you need the Huawei Update Extractor Tool to extract the system images from UPDATE.APP])
Download Marshmallow & transfer to SD
Flash the STOCK recovery via Fastboot
Install Marshmallow via the standard local update method via the OTA updater
Once Marshmallow is installed, re-install TWRP via Fastboot
I plan to upload the raw system imgs of the updates to my blog later (will probably post links here tomorrow), if you don't fancy using the HUET yourself.
Thanx. This way it worked. OTA update got IMEI back

Hi,
I have a problem and hope you can help me. I did quite a bit of rooting and installing custom roms on other devices but this was my first try on a Huawei.
I wanted to install a custom rom. The phone was on Lollipop 5.0 (can't remember what firmware it was on). I installed TWRP, did a backup, looked up a rom online and got stuck on boot. So I restored my backup, did some more research and found out that it is possible to upgrade to Marshmallow with an official system update manually.
I then checked what firmware it was running: balongV100R001C50b311. I looked online for the stock recovery for that version, flashed it, then flashed a vendor upgrade to get away from the balong-version (was recommended in another forum in order to be able to upgrade to MM).
So now: I'm on Firmware version ALE-L21C432B564. The thing is, I'm still on Lollipop 5.0. As I understand it, B564 is a MM firmware. I flashed the recovery of B564 for manual updates (via Huawei update extractor), but I still can't do a local update (via dload) to B565 or B574. I tried to manually install the update to B564 again, hoping it would upgrade my Android version to MM, but no luck. It just gives me the error: 'Software install failed!'.
I couldn't find anything online about being on B564 and still running Lollipop. I hope some of you can help.
Thanks in advance

Why you don't just update it from the system updates, you know?

One more thing that could be helpful: The device is unrooted

Sooooo I have a slight problem.
I have TWRP and stock ROM. Sort of. Xtreme Addiction ROM, only one that would work and not give the error"This is an s2 not s2_na_Xxxx" so I Flashed that, and uninstalled root, now in TWRP it doesn't show my internal storage so I can't flash this ROM, and ask for a password. So I tried using the 3dot option from settings and it won't work either, it'll just boot to TWRP and nothing happens. I'm really not looking forward to deleting everything... AGAIN but I will if I have to.

I think we might be having the same problem...
My X527 came with 16s as the stock ROM.
Upgraded to 19s with TWRP which gives me the system update option as well as OTA (which says I'm running the latest version).
I want to update to 21s and use the system update method..
Phone starts to load the new update (renamed to "update.zip") progress bar at the bottom of the screen while all of this takes place.
Phone reboots into password screen for TWRP, swipe to continue, then select system reboot and once it's back up and running it is still on 19s...?
Did you get your update resolved?

I note that this says it's the ROM for the S3.
I'm using the X527 which is the S2 with the Snapdragon chip (now listed as X526 after installing 21s), did you perhaps flash the incorrect ROM?
I had continual problems upgrading from 19s with TWRP - it would go through the whole process and then reboot to 19s..
Even after the replacement of the stock recovery, the first ROM I downloaded (21s) was not accepted. Had to download another one for it to finally work.
Could be a bad download?

If you don't have TWRP or anything installed, it should work fine if you put the 20s update in the root folder (the folder with the android and download folders). Then just go to system update, press menu, press local update, go through prompts and it should update automatically. Then just repeat the process for the 21s update. If you have twrp installed, I'm pretty sure the chinese ydss version doesn't allow OTA installs. This update requires stock recovery installed because it updates through the recovery. You can find stock recovery images on google (search le s3 stock recovery and click skyneel) or, someone might have posted a recovery image on the le 2 forum. Plz reply if it doesn't work, it worked for me tho.
Is there any bugs? If yes please list. Thank you
does it work for le s3 X626 mtk?
if not, please guide me as I see that this forum support Le S3.
thanks.
So, I just rooted my Huawei P Smart, the 136 update shows up, it does all the install steps, reboots and then says it failed. Do O need to do something on the twrp boot?

I'm not an expert - I always use HuRUpdater to update. It just requires you to download the (exact) right files, renaming them correctly and (like rooting with Magisk) just simply flashing a single .zip in recovery. In case you try it out, remember rule#1: Always make sure you have a (nandroid)backup.
Here are the relevant lines from my "Huawei-related-findings" text file:
#update
"Depends on how you rooted.
For a successful OTA install your device probably must meet the following criteria
• HUAWEI stock recovery installed
• unaltered /system, /product and /vendor partitions
So if you rooted with a "systemless" method (e.g. Magisk, recent SuperSU) and haven't done other installs/modifications that typically change /system you could try it. And you have to flash stock recovery (i.e. get rid of TWRP temporarily for the OTA install)."

“It's recommended to use a proper custom recovery (with running oeminfo_nvm_server service) like for example*my version of TWRP.
How to use:
Warning: Make sure you know what you are doing and do not flash firmware from other devices.
1. Download firmware files (for official firmware use Huawei Firmware Finder).
2. Put files you want to flash in a seperate folder on sdcard.
Supported zip files to flash are (name must match):
◦ update.zip (use FullOTA file)
◦ update_all_hw.zip
◦ update_data_public.zip
3. Optional: Put recovery.img in same folder if you want to keep custom recovery.
4. Put HuRUpdater zip in same folder.
5. Select*only HuRUpdater*to flash in custom recovery.
6. Follow instructions on screen. Flashing can take multiple minutes.
Problems:
• If firmware includes factory reset
◦ Factory reset is not supported by custom recovery. Therefore HuRUpdater will flash stock recovery before launching factory reset. After flashing firmware and doing factory reset, you need to flash recovery manually.”

Yes, I'm im the same boat - I guess you also get the "can't have connection" error using the FF app. During the last weeks they had troubles with their service regarding hackers and moving to a new server (according to their telegram group), which have been fixed ("all services working normally now"), and many can use it again - for whatever reason some still can't connect. I tried reinstalling the app, using proxies from different countries - still doesn't let me connect.
But their web interface is working: https://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/ though you can't check iirc, if the firmware has been approved for your IMEI.

It's online now! I suggest you to download the "2018.08.30" .158 "2379" release, if you have a FIG-LX1, L31 board phone.

You apparently can download this release (2379) if you own this device/board- though the last time I updated mine (.148) I used the 2079 (154226) one despite owning the exact same device. I'm slightly confused about this
I didn't try the above mentioned update myself.

Try installing an older version of the Firmware Finder app - I switched from (current) v9.0 to v8.9 and it works now

Hello Community,
I am trying to update my Oneplus 5 (A5000) from
OxygenOS 4.5.14 / Android 7.1.1 / A5000_23_171031
to
OxygenOS 5.0.1 (OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_028_all_1801031502_04d7cc5.zip)
OxygenOS 5.1.4 (via OTA)
OxygenOS 5.1.5 (OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_038_all_1808082017_028e075c45a84106.zip)
I am getting an "Installation failed" error, no matter which option or image I use to upgrade:
- Download from Oneplus Homepage and Install local file from recovery
- Updating via "System updates" in Android
- Updating via "System updates -> local upgrade"
I read all the posts in this forum from the last 2 months, but nothing really seams to work:
- wipe the cache in recovery
- install "older" version than 5.1.4/5.1.5 - in my case 5.0.1
- try different methods like flash from recovery, flash from local upgrade in Android...
I have an unlocked bootloader, but the phone is not rooted. I can not tell exactly if TWRP has ever been used before, because I bought this as a used phone, which already had an unlocked bootloader. Nevertheless I was able to install previous OTA updates. But now all updates are failing.
Anyone here who could help me please?
Best Regards,
Daniel

Hello, Do you have twrp running or stock recovery? Have you ever tried to factory reset and then install 5.0.1/5.1.4? Or format internal storage too and afterwards install the full 5.0.1 or 5.1.4 oos rom?

Thanks for your response. I use stock recovery. I didn't try to do factory reset or format internal storage, because I don't want to lose any data if possible.

Daniel

Have you at least wiped cache in recovery(you did not mention which sort of recovery you have). Wiping cache is also an option and you'll not loose any data.
Recommendation: keep in mind to backup your whole phone from time to time
There was a similar post to this one recently where a device wouldn't update to any version of OOS. Relocking the Bootloader first was the solution in that case. You could try that.

Thanks for the reminder, I agree a 100% with you. :good:
Phone is fully backed up, I still prefer not to lose any data, as setting up everything again is not the most enjoyable thing for me.
Wiping cache via stock recovery is something I already did before, unfortunately luck.

Thanks! I think I already have seen this post, but can't find it right now. You are right, the solution was to lock the bootloader.
I wanted to avoid deleting all my data. Therefore I am primary looking for another solution. Maybe instead of going back and locking the bootloader again, going into the "other direction" where I can take advantage of the already unlocked bootloader, e.g. install custom recovery and update OSS this way? What do you think?
Best Regards,
Daniel
I had the same issue some weeks ago and the solution for me was to update from 4.5.14 to 5.0.0 with all data reset (i had already lost everything anyway). But you can maybe try it without wiping everything, only Dalvik cache. I can't find where I downloaded the 5.0.0 version (that is not stable) but I can maybe upload it on mediafire for you if you want.

Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Did you also have an unlocked bootloader?
I would really appreciate it, if you could upload the 5.0.0 image for me. Then I would give it a try. :good:
Yep unlock bootloader and unable to relock it, for unknown reasons (I didn't try again since).
I'll upload the 5.0.0 OOS when i'm back home tonight .
Think about using blu_shark modified TWRP, it's full Oreo compatible.

here there is the 5.0.0 OOS versions I've found : http://www.mediafire.com/folder/97sy3q5jde1tj/Roms_OP5
But be careful, and download the 5.0.1 also because the 5.0.0 is really unstable (5.0.1 is a hot fix). I used 5.0.0 only to go to 5.0.1 right after minimal configuration.

Thanks for your effort. I haven't had the time to continue with my open task.
Unfortunately, I came across multiple postings which explicitly warned of lost data, bootloops and other strange behaviors when updating from 4.5.14 to 5.x.x while having an "open/unlocked" bootloader.
I am a little bit worried this could also affect me in my situation. I am really not in the mood to brick my device...
Maybe I will reset everything, lock my bootloader and install everything from scratch. Just need to find the time to do this.
Even after a factory reset I wasn't able to go from 4.5.14 to 5.x.x, maybe it's link to the fact that I wasn't able to relock my bootloader. Anyway give us some news, could be useful for the next guy with the same issue !
