I've rooted my US Verizon galaxy s8 using the steps on this forum. The first thing I did was grab the Aroma 2.4 installer for installing arise sound mod (which includes viper and simplifies some manual steps). Viper sound is horrible quality.
I started fresh again by wiping data. This time, I did the following as this was suggested in the SamPWND thread:
1) freeze Samsung soundalive in titanium
2) copy audio effects file from viper to /system/vendor/etc
3) install viper apk
4) our bootloader is locked and so the next step of using magisk doesn't seem to apply, so simply open viper and configure it
I'm running viper in compatible mode. I didn't need to set kernel to permissive. While listening to music, in parallel I adjust the eq and definitely can hear viper taking effect.
Even with stock eq settings and trying to set gain limits:
1) music sounds way overpowered...seems cutting in and out
2)bass is fine until mid and high ranges pick up
3) vocals are harsh on the S sound
4) highs are tinny
5) mids sound muddy and in a tunnel
What am I missing? I've never seen viper make things worse before!!!

Hey guys
I have been playing around with miui for the past week and was quite disappointed at how much quieter everything seemed compared to stock. I started trying to improve the volume but all i got was distorted noise. Anyway, after a lot of experiment i have found the right combination.
Just want to point out that i am not responsible for any damage to may cause to your phone in trying this.
I am running BlendMIUI v9
What i did:
1. disabled xloud in build.prop. changed ro.semc.sound_effects_enabled= to false, ro.semc.xloud.supported= to false and persist.service.xloud.enabled= to 0.
2. downloaded Volume+ (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449513) credits to meltus for this amazing app.
3. set settings to:
speaker modifications=enabled
virtual room effect=disabled
eq settings=spoken word
volume level=+10
bass enhance=0
advanced settings - speaker modifications=disabled
left eq settings at bottom untouched.
4. disabled the eq in the music app. It is important to disable any other eq settings/programs for this to work, including dsp manager, as the 2 conflict.
With anything other than these settings the sound was very distorted but these settings are clear and alot louder. Just wanted to share my experience and hope it helps somebody else.
If i have helped you please click "thanks"
Cheers

Is built-in dsp manager don't help...with this you can easy hack your speaker volumes.

DSP manager would not work for me, only got distortion. this is the only method that worked for me so thought i would share
I am on Stock KitKat rooted, I've tried Viper and I tried one of the other audio enhancing methods, and none of them seemed to do very much for the audio in terms of making it any louder. Is there a mod out there for my specific model that will make it louder? It's kind of strange, my boyfriends phone is loud as can be when it comes to ringtones and videos but mine is quiet as a mouse. Viper made the audio worse and I'm afraid to try and figure out what numbers work best for the snd_whatever_taiko file.
So basically I'm asking if there's anything I can do at this point?
Edit: If it helps I'm on AT&T, Kitkat with all the latest OTA's.
There is a sound increase mod 1.3 on the development thread... Install both speaker and headphone zips... I did that and my speaker is really loud... For my headphone music I also use viper and turned up the gain completely
With the old cyanogenmod kitkat version, and the dsp program back then I used to have very deep and powerful bass enhancement, it was really nice.
But since the new lollipop version, the bass are really bad, it just makes the sound muffled and not powerful.
I tried Dolby atmos or the official cyanogenOS dsp program, not it still doesn't work like it used to do.
Do you know any way to get back a good bass enchancer?
Edit: actually I think I had the mod Beats+xlouder installed over cyanogenmod. Is there any version of this mod for lollipop?
Personally I use & recommend Viper4Android. Very customizable to suit your sound preferences and you can set up different profiles for each output type (phone speaker, headphones, external speakers, etc.).
Yea It's The Wrong Section, Did Not Have Enough Posts To Share It In The Dev Forums.
Was having the issue of really low volume on my Z5 Premium (E6853) on FW 32.A.6.170.
Went tweaking the audio mixer for louder volume (Thanks AndroPlus For The Kernel For Root Access).
Figures that I shared it with the community, hope this helps with the low volume output of the Z5 Premium.
But Before That, Some Details And WARNINGS
THIS TWEAK / MOD REQUIRES ROOT
This Tweak Increases The Headphone Volumes Significantly, Increases Speaker Volume, In-Call Volume and removes sound filtering from the Headphones.
Tested On - E6853 (Z5P) On FW 32.A.6.170 Rom Aiur (Ps. Untested On Z5 or Z5C If Your Intending To Flash It On Those Devices Mentioned, Create A Nandroid Backup First At The Least)
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED PHONES / BLOWN EARPHONES / BLOWN SPEAKERS / BLOWN HEADPHONES / BLOWN EARDRUMS / INJURY / DAMAGE or anything along those lines.
I have packaged them in flashable zip files for your convenience for flashing via TWRP (Thanks again AndroPlus).
It's Self Explanatory, Installer For Installing The Volume Mod and the Uninstaller To Revert To Normal Volume Levels..
Hope This Helps Most Of The Users Which Switched Over From The Z2 Gotta Admit The Z5P's Headphone Volumes Were Rather Disappointing.

We all know that sound output is quite low in custom roms, as compared to that in stock ROM.
I just installed and used the stock rom for the first time.. and while i liked the sound output, it's the only thing that i liked in this rom??.
So, in short, does anyone have some magical way of bringing the sound output in custom roms close to stock?
You can install ViPER4Android FX from the magisk manager to increase the sound output in custom rom.
Increase the master volume for speakers and headphones and that's it.
Sorry but I am not able to post the screenshot.

Just install JamesDsp module from magisk and reboot...
Open the app and enable master switch
In bass boost---Set to super and 4079 low pass filter
That's it.Amazing sound without complicated configs..??yee?
