Could anyone tell me what's an kernel is? everyone is saying that flashing a kernel can improvise the performance and battery life
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernel_(operating_system)
Kernel is an importan software parts which used by devices which run on software like mobiles, as it helps to communicate between software and hardware,
Basically it is bridge of communication between software and hardware

Yes it can
If you want battery, the kernel will be underclocked so it will noy use cpu power completely and saves battery but results in low performance.
If you want performance, the kernel will be overclocked so it will use full cpu more power and result in low battery life.
Now it depends on you, which is more important to you.
You should search for harpia kernel and download kernel auditor. Anf learn some setting for it so will get a balanced limits.

Hello,
I have Galaxy 4 I9505 with foxhound 2.0 and Adam kernel.
I want to do undervoltage.
Which kernel is best for it? And how to check the stability of the device after UV and whether it endangers the cell phone?
Does it improve my battery life?
Thank you all!

And you can't go to the two development sections & read the first page of a few threads devoted to particular kernels why exactly ? (That's the reason why you haven't had a response).

Sorry I'm new here.
I will search what you said thanks..
But it's not written there if its can harm the device and how to check stability..
OK.
1) Undervolting won't harm your device. If anything, it's kinder on your phone's components because it should run a little bit cooler under most circumstances.
2) Re: stability, decrease in 25mV steps, test thoroughly to make sure it's stable (this varies from phone to phone), then decrease another 25mV & so on. This applies whether you're applying the undervolt 'globally' (I.E the same across all CPU frequencies), or whether you're applying different levels of undervolting to different frequencies. It seems most I9500/I9505's can handle -50mV (though yours may not) globally.
So you're only going to find out what's truly stable for your phone by testing.

I'm using KTweaker to undervolt

Undervolt doesn't damage the phone, if the phone doesn't reboot itself or app force closes then it's stable or you can use this app to test stability

Yes, it does improve battery life as undervolting the CPU and GPU means it's using less battery

thanks you very much!!
If you want to test the stability after undervolting I can suggest antutu benchmark with built in stability test.

And zoUphd2 thanks. I did it
I have been testing different Kernels and settings on my fast binned Nexus 4, what I am trying to achieve is a similar experience to stock kernel and being able to undervolt and maybe even have sweep2wake.
In my experience AK and NEO gave me the best results in Antutu (which I don’t care much about) but I am not sure if they respect the thermal throttling settings, I don’t feel good knowing that my phone will be producing more heat than on stock so the questions are:
What kernels respect the thermal throttling settings as the stock kernel?
Some kernels allow you to set some SOC temperature settings in “Trickster”, what are does? Is that only for the maximum temperature before the phone shuts down?
Thank you guys.
theres no such thing as a best kernel. all our devices react differently with every kernel, and we all have differing needs. try them all out, thats the only way that you will find the best lernel for your device.

My questions where a bit more specific than just “whats the best kernel” as I said in the frist post:
*What kernels respect the thermal throttling settings as the stock kernel?
*Some kernels allow you to set some SOC temperature settings in “Trickster”, what are does? Is that only for the maximum temperature before the phone shuts down?
I want a kernel that has similar or same thermal throttling settings as the stock kernel, I don’t want my phone making more heat and I want to be able to undervolt and maybe even use sweep2wake, all this was said in the original post but thanks.
I have tested franco kernel, AK and NEO but I am not sure about theyr thermal throttling criteria and/or settings, I have tried researching but I cant come to the conclusion if they produce more heat than stock or not.

Nice post.
We don't want to hurt any developers feelings by saying who's work is better. lol
thread closed.
Hey guys.
I have a clean Mahdi ROM (the latest from like 1 week ago) and have the feeling that the battery drains slightly faster than in stock. Apart from other things I started trying different kernel tweaks and I discovered the following:
The governor, although showing explanations for a whole 7 different modes, only allows me to either pick "interactive" or "performance".
Since I never really need the CPU settings from interactive mode, I actually want to use conservative.
How can I realise that now?
Please feel free to post your battery life stats, I'm really curious.
Sidenote: I have "transparent weather clock" on my homescreen and it seems to need a lot of battery. Does anyone have a recommendation for a lightweight & goodlooking homescreen widget?
The kernel for that ROM only contains two governors, please do not use performance because it only uses your max frequency, which is bad for temp & battery life.

Ok, thanks for the info. I wondern why it only contains those two though.
I'd never use performance, interactive already provides more power than I need.
I'm just looking for a way to actually use the conservative mode.
Something weird just happened to me: my phone was at about 38% and when I looked 1h later, it was pretty warm and powered off 1min later because battery had dropped to 1%.
I think this is pretty weird. I did not use the phone in that hour and had no apps running.
As illogical it might sound, my first suspect was the energy saving mode I enabled. I dont know why but I think it messed something up.
Does anyone have similar issues or any useful advice for me?

The developer believes those to be the best choices, I have no clue why. Interactive mostly stays near the max freq & makes my phone uber hot like an oven. Feel free to use Render kernel, its in the general section.

Thanks for bringing that kernel up, I've flashed it yesterday and am delighted. Will try the release from today now.
BTW my low battery life is gone now so thanks again.
I have a few suggestions for this kernel and i hope you, Renix63, can see this and add it.
please let us:
overclock the cpu to higher clocks (maybe until 2ghz? )
let the gpu be overclocked (maybe until 600-700mhz?)
thank you very much for your kernel. i hope you have a nice day!
I would suggest not to rush... We got governors and a modded gpu gov. It's not that necessary, 2ghz? It's very unstable and god, your battery will go to 0% in no time because voltage needs to be raised thus consuming more battery. Same goes for the gpu, even if I think gpu OC would be a great feature, but again, not yet. Believe me, resolving stability issues and managing memory etc, is far more important and can get a better performance without OC

hahahaha yeah sorry bout that, im still noob but it would be great to have overclocking for the gpu tho. for the battery, some people buy powerbanks or battery packs but if ever they want to prolong their battery life because they dont have an extra battery, they can just underclock. but yeah youre right, resolving stability issues and managing memory etc is more important. hahaha sorry
Wake Gesture
What do you think about adding double tap to wake (or wake gesture)? I'd love it!
But the only question is? Is it possible on our device?
Hay everyone!
here, i have some questions... here it goes
Is there any possibility that we will get OC (overclock) for our p8 lite?
If we will get cpu oc will it be possible to overclock GPU?
How much is our gpu capable of and whats the current clock?
Vulkan API support one day???
Thanks!

OC - definetly kernel related
Vulkan API - pretty old gpu sadly, it can receive vulkan, but it depends on Mali
You may be able to overclock the CPU, but it isn't worth it. Already the battery life is bad to terrible(at least in my case) so overclocking a CPU-> making it more power-hungry will crush the battery life. And I'm pretty sure with overclocking we will get maximum +3K points in Antutu

We have a kernel but that's is incomplete so, it may have bugs! And comes with high risk of bricking device! And other thing it is impossible to get 4-8 cores out of sleep, maybe someone will put them on work but right now? Pff! Dream with eyes closed

4-8 cores are working correctly, but most of the apps can't see that
Never bricked this phone with a esal kernel
