Hi, is it possible to get stock Android on Meizu MX2? Or any other custom ROM (CM or any other), I don't quite understand what do developers need from Meizu to port stock Android to MX2 or what limits availability of custom ROMs for this device. Thanks
Meizu itself is the limiting factor.
Technically, if your device is a hk model, there is nothing stopping you from doing your ROM.
However Meizu doesn't hand out the required files to do so.
disappointing

When Meizu released its latest device , it said"We give you the right to leave, but we believe you will be back", I thought Meizu would let third party to release ROMs for MX2. It seems MX2 will never get a ROM from CM according to your information.
So disappointing!
I have started to port MIUI 7 Marshmallow rom from MI Max to Redmi Note 3.
Here is the MIUI 7 Marshmallow ROM: http://en.miui.com/download-302.html
Anyone working on the same project may contact, also anyone experienced in porting may contact too.
Initial ports will be closed released for testing and stable ports will be posted here.
MIUI8?good work

It's fairly simple to "port" I guess, as far as I know the process consists of: downloading the MiMax ROM and copying over the hardware files from our Kenzo MIUI-7 ROM, of course before any of this your either going to need system dumps or a way to extract the firmwares, and even then you'll need to put together an update-script to properly flash it all, and then you can start testing stuff out to see what works/dosnt and then you rinse and repeat until everything works, I've done this before for another device and although it did boot, there were countless issues and the entire process is archaic and pointless tbh, building from source (but we can't since MIUI is closed source so id say just wait for MIUI8 lol) would be easier in some sense since having the source upfront helps you have an idea of wtf is actually going on compared to the guess work that is copying & pasting libs and stuff from /system/etc, my point is, just wait till June 28th or whenever were supposed to have MIUI-8 since hacking together an M based MIUI-7 for our device based on another devices firmware with "similar" hardware would just be painful and I'd feel sorry for you if you had to do such, then again I could be awfully wrong and the entire thing may work (it is quite possible) relatively easily considering the familiarity of the hardware, I just wouldn't expect it to be bugless, but someone please do prove me wrong, I'd be happy.

1. I have ported Roms for Micromax canvas music, Micromax unite 2. They were mtk. I have themed complete rom for LG l 3 e405. It was Qualcomm.
2. Flashing will be block based. If what I have planned will work.
3. We have no other better option to get marshmallow right now. And I live in present.
4. Without trying I can't know if it is a good idea or not. What I will loose? Few hours. What many will gain? May be a stable marshmallow miui 7.
Be positive.

Since Android go is made for low end phone, Redmi 2 1gb model is the perfect phone to try on, I request developers to make a Android go ROM.
As per XDA news some developers has made lineage os 15.1 with android go support for some old devices.....the source is maybe released
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-go-old-android-8-1-oreo/
I request developers to make Android go room for Redmi 2.
You won't believe but I'M from future and I hav already seen Go on Redmi2. You'll soon get it on ur device and I must say chang ur device. ?

So you want Android Go for your Redmi 2?
Flash this zip (LINK) , Make sure you follow instructions and you must on Oreo 8.1 before flash the zip, (whether it's LoS 15.1/ AeX / or whatever rom based on 8.1)

dude first we would be needing stable oreo for that, there is no point in suggesting it on experimental builds.

I wish someone makes Pixel Experience ROM for our device, like the Moto G 2015 has. It's an 8.1 GO edition ROM.

Is this rom available? Where can we find it?
Any new news on Android Go edition for Redmi 2? ?
It would be very nice if someone could bring compatibility to proyect treble for our device, we have the required things for bring it
https://github.com/dianlujitao/android_kernel_xiaomi_sdm660/tree/lineage-15.1 (8.1.0 KERNEL BOOTING)
https://github.com/phhusson?tab=repositories (LOT OF DOCUMENTATION OF TREBLE)
I would try myself but I don't know how to do that so if any developer know how to do it and can do it please work on it. With this we could boot generic aosp img and the development and rom choose would be bigher
Thanks a lot and let's start the discussion
that would be very nice.. or get lineageos 15.1 fully working..

LOS 15.1
What do you think are the chances of this device getting support for Project Treble in the future, either from an official implementation with the MIUI 9.5 update or unofficial community port? I'm on the verge of purchasing this device but the lack of Treble is the only thing holding me back at the moment. Treble will be revolutionary for custom ROM support in 2018 and so it wouldn't make sense for a flashaholic like myself to purchase a device without it.
I already bought the device, but I would really like treble support for this phone

Fair enough. I'm just unsure what to do at the moment because I want to buy this phone but don't want to invest in something that won't receive Treble support in a few months time. Maybe I should just wait and see what the Mi7 has to offer, as that will come with Oreo pre-installed like the Mi MIX 2S. Hopefully it won't come with a notch.

Why do you care about treble so much for a device that already has AOSP support ?, N Based ROMs are fully stable-ish at this point, O based ROMs will follow after Miui O update, so treble wont do that much for us
but if you end up getting Mix 2S or any other device with treble support, you dont have to wait for devs to support to your phone, just unlock & flash GSI builds, Treble is still a hit or miss follow Honor/Huawei devices forums for more info's

Thanks. I was interested in Treble mainly because it would allow flashing Treble-based ROMs that could be installed on any device. When Android P comes around it would mean getting it a lot quicker than if the phone did not have support for Project Treble. Still, it's good to know that all the currently available ROMs for the Mi Note 3 are stable and Oreo ROMs will be coming shortly. It looks like Oreo is scheduled for mid-April so there isn't too much longer to wait.
I cannot wait to see treble ported for our mi note 3
I'm starting to think xiaomi won't release an Oreo MIUI for Mi Note 3. If that's the case, will we be forever stuck in nougat? I thought if our device get treble supports, upgrades to later Android Versions (P, Q, and so on) will be assured. But it's like hoping for an Oreo ROM is already too much
Hey,Can anyone please guide me how to build an Oxygen OS for the Mi Note 3?It would be of great help... regards

Hi Devs,
It's a humble request to all Experienced (Recognized) Developers/Young Developers/Members of XDA to PORT MIUI 9 ROM based on Android 8.0 Oreo for Mi5 by Xiaomi.eu to our beloved Z2 Plus device...
I know MIUI 9 by YouLinw exists for our device, but that PORT is purely based on Chinese build of MIUI 9 for Mi 5 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and is very limited to global users. No international user understands Chinese very well and they prefer the language in their preferred locale and Xiaomi.eu project enables the same and provides multi-language Official ROMs (PORT) by Xiaomi. Plus it is backed up by built-in Google Apps, so there's no need to perform any Gapps installations after flashing the ROM itself and is TWRP friendly ROM...
User/Dev Narshi Shukla has done exceptionally well in maintaining the MIUI 9 thread and providing help/support for that particular ROM PORT by YouLinw and changing/modifying many aspects of the PORTED ROM itself to make the ROM more usable to Global end users but still it lacks these three points, First is Android Oreo build and Second Gapps and Thirdly the addition of International languages/locale.
Considering the above benefits of having Globalized version of MIUI 9 for our Z2 Plus, that too on 8.0 Oreo build and with GApps included is something that many users are looking for...
I was trying to PORT this ROM my self but I'm facing technical problems with my PC hardware, as such my motherboard has got damaged and was sent for repairs to Service Centre and is with them since last few weeks and till now, no report on repairs done by them/working condition/service completion of hardware by the concerned SC... So I would request other Devs to Kindly step forward, if possible, please...
Your efforts are always appreciated and welcome guys...

Well, atleast let the ROM go stable for Mi5, as it is released just few days ago in beta. After proper release, porting maybe an option.

Agreed but the ROM is already out of Internal Alpha Testing to Private Beta Testing to Public Beta/Developer/Weekly ROM now... We can wait... There's no issue in waiting for this ROM to get PORT though...

Some users reported heat and just 3 4 hours sot, force closes here and there and there are many Oreo features are missing,
Let it progress and lets see how stable it will be after 2 3 updates,
Porting Xiaomi eu roms among other are in my list, but time management is a problem for me so it may take time.
Hope to see more devs/users trying to port MIUI based on global Branch.

That's what I said but I think MIUI 10 will be properly compatible with Oreo as MIUI is always little late implementing all the features from AOSP like the amount of time taken them to apply notification reply.
