if i just look at the score between wt samsung did and hardcore did...
samsung's kernel seems wins a bit(really just a bit) when hardcore is doing the kernel individually...poor samsung....
but at least devs can make use of this rom to develop a better one
btw, my upload speed here is v low, just around 4X KBps, so u may need to wait for 1.x hours sorry

GPS performance is improved from this update.
I have uploaded the system.img for devs to make better roms for us.
Have they fixed the browser with this version?
how can i test this?
Open engadget.com and go to the full website. See if it scrolls smoothly or not.

Can anyone compile nls_utf8.ko module for the Retail 10.1?
The Settings -> About tablet tab has the following:
Kernel - 2.6.36.3 se.infra sep-58 #1
Build Number - HMJ37.UEKF3 P7510UEKF3
Don't know if it's important for this module but for cifs.ko was the following:
cifs: version magic should be '2.6.36.3 SMP preempt mod_unload ARMv7 '
Ok, I did it myself. Here is nls_utf8.ko for the retail 10.1. Works for me.
Trying to set this up myself. I've got cifs working but not utf8 support. Your nls_utf8.ko does not seem to work for me. I've got:
Kernel: 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
Build number: HMJ37 P7500XWKHD
Do I need to change kernel for this to work or is there another file available for this kernel?
I don't think you need to change your kernel. If you can find the source for it - you can compile the module. The description of how to compile is somewhere on this forum (don't remember where exactly). Though first you should check this module: try mount manager and force loading of modules in it - this helps...
i need utf8 for cifs too, so i tested nls_utf8.ko in this thread but doesn't work for me.
I haven't problem with cifs.ko, it's works always but without utf8 support so,
how do i can test if my kernel able to support utf8?
how do i can know if i can add a module of nls_utf8 or i need recompiling kernel?
thanks in advance

Hey all,
I got tun.ko compiled for Samsung Galaxy Ace, which is required for using vpn clients.
Its for 2.6.32.9-perf kernel, on FroYo.
Vishal
Edit:! Attaching tun.ko compiled for Gingerbread (India Release)
>$ modinfo tun.ko
filename: tun.ko
alias: devname:net/tun
alias: char-major-10-200
license: GPL
author: (C) 1999-2004 Max Krasnyansky <[email protected]>
description: Universal TUN/TAP device driver
depends:
vermagic: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL518855 preempt mod_unload ARMv6
How to install it?
I just should put tun.ko in /lib/modules and reboot the phone ?
you can do "insmod tun.ko" to load it from adb shell (or if you have terminal emulator app installed on your phone).
please...
could somebody make it for Galaxy GIO GingerBread too
kernel 2.6.35.7 cl412483
I have Acer Iconia Tab A500 with last rooted firmware [fguy] (Android 3.2, kernel 2.6.36.3+, Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1). I try use tun.ko from thread [DEV] A500 Kernel Modules modules - k2.6.36.3.zip for kernel 2.6.36.3 But this module requires kernel 2.6.36.3. Where find tun.ko for 2.6.36.3+
Message from dmesg:
tun: version magic '2.6.36.3 SMP preempt mod_unload ARMv7 ' should be '2.6.36.3+ SMP preempt mod_unload ARMv7 '

Goto the market and download tun.ko Installer. It had a valid one for mine... Do the others work? Im trying to get fuse.ko and one of the mounters to mount mine...

Check out this thread ... I'm using the modules from it successfully in 3.2 and 3.2.1.

I strongly need the linux kernel 2.6.29.REVO used by CM7 SwiftDroid SDSL v2.0. Can anyone tell me where I can down the source?
What I am currently doing is to hack the wireless module of my GT540 phones. So I need the linux kernel source to recompile the module: /system/lib/modules/wireless.ko. I have tried the kernel source from two github repositories.
* One is the swift kernel 2.6.29 authored by Quarx2k
* The other is by wingrime
But when I inserted the compiled wireless.ko, the CM7 SwiftDroid SDSL system throws out the version magic error.
# dmesg
wireless: version magic '2.6.29 preempt mod_unload ARMv6 should be '2.6.29.REVO preempt mo-unload ARMvt'
So I may need the exact linux version 2.6.29.REVO authored by microslav_mm.
Where can I download it? microslav_mm's github only provides 2.6.35 kernel right now.
Any suggestions are extremely appreciated. Already trapped by this kernel compilation issue for a whole week.

there you go
Thanks for this message.
But this webpage seems to contains only the already-built linux kernel and android image.
What I need is the source code of linux kernel 2.6.29.REVO. Any place to download?
Regards
Shawn
I dont know....
I think I saw it once on github :OO
Sign. But I strongly need this kernel source linux kernel source 2.6.29.REVO for wifi driver hacking.
