Pie control without root - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Anybody found a reliable way to permanently hide navigation bar and use pie control for unrooted g6 (h870ds) like LMT works with root?
I only found apps that are deactivated after a few hours.

I've used many pie apps from root to no root and this app won me over hands down the best

I've been using Pie Control on my G6, it hasn't stopped once. As for immersive, I was playing with that yesterday but enabling immersive for all apps seems to cause major battery drain. So I had to give up on that, even though it looked awesome.

How much extra battery drain for you?

Advantages of Rooting This phone.

Hey lads,
Going to have this phone soon and haven't yet found a reason to go rooting/custom rom rout, As it seems, it's quite well cooked as it is. So i'm wondering what are the Reasons you guys rooted your phones?
Can't you get that hide nav bar without root? and xposed framework work without root? We got some neat statusbar icon sets out and need rooting?
some other reason you had to root and 'void warrancy'?
The two reasons I did it on Verizon are for Greenify, and to enable free wifi tethering.
Here are my reasons:
Custom DPI to use with Action Launcher.

There are several useful apps that require superuser privileges. As far as I know one must root the phone to install and enable superuser.
Adaway and xposed framework with app settings and xprivacy.
Smaller navigation keys for WAY more screen real estate. Camera improvements. Debloated. These are a few so far. Here's a pic of the nav buttons.

Proper backup solutions. Hopefully things like this won't require root in the future.

How do you shrink the on screen buttons?

Bloatware and Carrier IQ removal, Wi-Fi tethering on unlimited data plan, Xposed framework and various modules for it, essential root apps like AdAway, Root Explorer and Titanium Backup, Custom recovery with Nandroid backup functionality, ViPER4Android Audio Affects,... and list goes on and on. But most important benefit of all is that root access gives you freedom to do whatever you want with your device.
ROMs
I like rooting so I can install twrp and run aosp software. Cm alpha now.
Firewall
The phone came finally.
Had it for 30min's and couldnt resist rooting. Still on Stock rom but modified some.
My steps if anyone is wondering why and how,
1. Install root thread.
2. install TWRP thread easy method
And your all set. Take a TWRP backup from your phone, and you're safe to start tweaking.
Things i did,
1. Installed my favorite apps, titanium backup, romtoolbox and bbs etc... changed dpi and did backups.
1. Xposed+App Settings to get camera and msg apps back to 480 ( Using 360 dpi systemwide )
2. Xposed xprivacy (really liking this) for handling apps and what they can do. Found inside xposed on modules list.
3. Bought GMS autohide soft keys root from google play, seems like a godsend. Found on google play store.
4. Allso bought g2 xposed mod from play store for nice black statusbar. found on google play store.
Next in project list is to clear bloatware and find some nice status bar icons or autohide statusbar that works with stock rom.

Of you find a proper auto hide statusbar solution let me know. The best i came up with is forcing full screen in most apps with xposed app settings and putting a nova shortcut of "expand statusbar" into swipepad. Works but is too laggy now and then.
If you haven't got a firewall but want one take a look at afwall+ by the way. Easy setup and high practicability due to different profiles. If you got apps you don't want to completely deny Internet with xprivacy you can deny it at certain times with afwall+

Doze Now Available for Devices on Lollipop

Found this article on Phone Arena Doze. Someone has mimic'd the code of Doze from Marshmallow and made it available in a stand alone app in the Play Store. It creates a VPN when your screen is off, and limits background processes' access to data and whatnot, thus limiting wakelocks(at least that is what's advertised) It seems to be working well for me thus far, but I will update with results after I get a full day's use of Doze to see if it has saved me idle battery drain. It may help you too!
My T-Mobile Note 5 received an OTA update that added a feature called "app optimization" which mimics doze.
App optimization came with the Note 5 from day one as far as I know. I got the update on my S6 well before I bought the note 5.
Does anyone know if App Optimization interferes with notifications from apps like whatsapp, telegram, wickr, and signal?

Well it says does before you optimization starts so I'm guess yes.. If you don't use the app for a variety of days

I had to drop Marshmallow from my Nexus 6 because my alarms stopped going off and I kept missing my meds... Doze has issues.

Not for the N920T, I got it when it first came out. App optimization was only added on the latest update (COJ5), AOGE, BOH4, BOH6, & COI5 did not have it.
Not sure about those apps but it only works on user installed apps. Would be nice if some can make a mod to add system or preinstalled apps.
Hi,
I have owned a nexus 6p which has doze in it and I must say it is the best feature but what app optimization does is shuts down the application or hibernate the application if it's service(s) is not being used for a certain number of days.
But had some screen issues and having a replacement which had the same issue made me switch to note 5.

Anyone tried Xposed yet?

Liking the phone so far after owning the OnePlus One then the Two. Thought for the same price, the value of the Axon was several times better off.
But. But the biggest pet peeve. No option to switch to on screen soft keys. To make matters worse, the non lit capacitive ones.
So, question remains, anyone tried to install the framework and installed Gravity box or something?
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yes, there are guides on the forums for how to install Xposed. However, I and a couple other individuals have bricked our devices playing around with Gravitybox; you should make a backup before messing with anything regarding Gravitybox.
GravityBox in combination with heavily modded (by ZTE) ROMs is always risky. GB has a big warning agianst using it on non-stock or stock-ish roms
I used Gravity box for 3 things and had no issues:
1) Circle battery icon
2) Center clock (in status bar)
3) Re-orientate volume controls according to how the device is being held
Like I said, I had no issues whatsoever, but that's all I used.
Yep, Xposed is working great. Modules I am using are:
AcDisplay, Adblocker, App Settings, GravityBox, Snapprefs (the updated one), and XGPM to customize Google Music.
Not all options function on each mod, especially GravityBox, but the ones that didn't, did not have a negative effect on anything, they simply didn't work.
In my opinion there is no reason to not use Xposed. I am not having any device slowdown or lag issues like on other devices either.

I used Xposed for about a week. I disabled it because I tweaked something in gravitybox that gave me a bootloop (make sure you have the uninstaller zip on your phone just in case!), the phone was noticeably faster. There is a delay when you open apps with Xposed installed even without any modules active that isn't there without Xposed. I've seen this on my oneplus one, nexus 6, Nexus 6p, moto x pure, and now the axon 7. That's about the only issue with Xposed, though, so if you don't mind slightly slower app opening, it opens up a lot of customization. Personally, I go back and forth.

I did have lag on the Moto x pure, but do not have any on this phone..yet. I guess it depends in this case.

Awesome stuff. Probably what I'll do this weekend.
I really just want to have my onscreen softkeys haha with a couple of other minor stuff like YouTube background playback and such.

The thread that Draken posted said that xposed would break systemless root.
Does this not apply to us?

It doesn't break root, but it does make changes to the system partition, and is therefore no longer "systemless".

Game Tools and Game Launcher

Hello out there,
anyone with an idea how to get rid of these two "functions"?
I already deactivated Game Launcher and also denied Game Tools to write over other apps, to get rid of these two additional buttons on the navigation bar. But once i start a game, it still pops up with "not able to overlay on other apps, please activate in options". And this even as i deactivated notifications for it!!
I don't want this "functions" and their notifications are not relevant for me, not at all.
But, I also do not want to root for this.
Maybe anyone knows a hint.

Did you ever work out how to hide these extra functions? I've recently set my S8 to Game Mode to help with lag I've started getting but when opening apps (non game apps) the two extra functions appear in the nav bar and I cannot find a way to disable these.
I have the same frustration. I have unchecked every option. I'm tired of the stupid notification.

Package disabler pro......does the trick

I use adhell which has a package disabler. Works without root but you have to follow steps to have it installed and working. I've disabled alot of Samsung stuff including the Game tools and launcher you mentioned with no trace of it whatsoever to bother me.

Fingerprint Gestures Apps that support various actions are not working.

After updating to stable official Android 9 Pie update, any app that allows various tasks through fingerprint is not working.
Apps like - Fingerprint Action Pro, Fingerprint Gestures - Quick Actions And Selfie.
These support some useful features like adjusting brightness, flash on/off & many other things.
I was using these apps for 1 year. But after yesterdays update, they stopped working.
I tried reinstalling, still they are not working. I tried every app like these but none of them are working.
.
If anyone have faced same issue, comment. If anyone have found some fix, please tell.
check permissions given to the app, probably they are messed up
Macrodroid also has same issue
