1. TouchWiz - When you create a collection of icons in the home screen in a 1x1 space, the folder icon always shows the + sign at the end. I know how to add more icons in there, why waste space by having this stupid icon there that rarely gets used? AT&T, Tmobile, international version Galaxy S6 didn't have this + icon inside a folder.
2. Night Clock displays an alarm that is way far out. For example, it's Thursday today, and I set up an alarm for Wednesday 7AM. The Night Clock on the edge of the screen will always show an alarm icon with "07:00AM" displayed all the time for the whole week. Today, I don't care about an alarm that's set out for that far out. I don't know if other carrier versions does this or not.
3. Absent of Smart Manager. I know my Tmobile and international version had this software included in the S6. Why did they have to remove it? It was a pretty useful app to make sure rouge apps are suspended without having to have root. I don't want to root my phone since I have to use SamsungPay.
Currently on the latest release, PB5.
I've poked around forums a bit and haven't found answers for these:
1) Edge Lighting - Currently this appears to only work with a few apps (from the ones I have installed it looks like Hangouts, Messages, and Skype). Anyone know whether there's a way to get this working with other messaging apps like Textra?
2) Always on Display: On my S7 Edge, there's a feature where you can view notification icons, but I do not see this on the S8 version. Is this functionality removed or has anyone figured out a way to get these on?
1) edge lighting -- go to settings then display then edge screen then edge lighting then manage notification and select all.

I've done this already, but it's not functional. When I go into the menu, there is a partition between Hangouts, Messages, Skype, and the rest of my apps. Thinking it may only work for those 3? Can anyone confirm they have gotten the Edge Lighting to work with other apps?
Can confirm Edge lighting is not working at all.
Yeah, im wondering how to get those cool pill shaped notifications you see. Is this not with verizon? I dont see any edge lighting.
Edge lighting only works on the Samsung messaging app and you must add the person to the people portion of the edge panel it doesn't seem to work with the carrier app such as Verizon Messenger
I'm having random experiences too... I'm stunned there are no 3rd party apps that do anything creative like this. Wouldn't be that hard. There is no customization to edge lighting. Something like light flow for amoled would be great
the phone has been out for like 10 minutes lol. lets wait for things to catch up a bit. im hoping that full screen scaling is implemented soon too.

This actually corrected itself for me, I suspect it was included in the update. I had to manually check for system update to download, but I am now getting notification icons like I used to on my S7 Edge.

I received an update on Friday, but it is still not working. I went check to see if there was another update, but to no avail. I'm not having any luck finding any other information on this. I'd like to get those notification on my AOD.
My edge lighting worked with Textra initiially but now it seems it's not working anymore.
I turned on the Edge Lighting thinking it was cool. Now it messed up my notifications. Now I just get a small icon and before I used to get the heads up notifications. I have to drag down the notifications panel in order for me to see my messages.

Ok my edge lighting is working, but on the AOD screen and no where else using Textra
Someone on another board figured it out
In order to get edge lighting for Textra to work
Turn edge lighting on set to always (of course), make sure Textra is chosen(of course) and then go to Textra settings, customize notifications and set wake screen to On(or Always)
This will give you Edge lighting on AOD for Textra
BUT note that this will disable the quick reply from the LOCK SCREEN function of textra (if you have that turned on). When you have edge lighting for Textra off and have wake screen set to on - when you get a text, the phone wakes to the lock screen so you can reply(if you have this turned on in the customize settings of course).

Can confirm this works. Also, WhatsApp got added to the list of apps above the line (along with hangouts, skype, and messages) and now works with Edge Lighting for me. No clue whether that was a WhatsApp side update or Samsung.
I had WhatsApp working since day one but seems I only get edge lighting when using the phone. When it's idled it doesn't work

the edge lighting is soooo much weaker than on S7edge - i can barely see it when phone is facedown
when face up and unlocked it does look cool how it circles the phone's edges
Meh ...
Dont like that if you get multiple notifications it only shows the content for the first one - then it says new notification (im talking about the pills notifications)

I think the new implementation is far more appealing and useful, especially for me. I never keep my phone face down. And I like how the screen doesn't turn on fully like it used to.

Hi everyone, hoping someone here can help. On my S7 Edge running 7.0, the AOD display had the option to display the clock, date, battery percentage, and any calendar appointments I had for the day. On my new S8, I can get all that to display with AOD, except for the calendar appointments. There doesn't seem to be any sort of option to get calendar information onto the AOD. Clicking on the "content to show" option provides no option to select calendar information. no matter which "clock style" I select (even the one labeled "calendar"). Not sure why Samsung would seemingly give the S7 Edge more AOD options and not do the same for the S8. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Looking for same answer! Any late breaking updates to this riddle?
This is the one feature I relied on the most with my S7 Edge. Why would they take away a feature like that? The whole idea of the AOD is to provide value to looking at the screen.
You can partially and awkwardly achieve some of that functionality by adding "Today's schedule" under facewidgets. But to see it on AOD you'll need to first double-tap the clock, then swipe and then you have 5 sec to comprehend what's on the screen because it quickly changes to clock again.
I don't recall seeing this on my Note9 running Pie, but with my S10+, when the battery is full, a second battery icon is pushed (left side next to the time) when the phone is plugged in and battery at 100%. According to the notification details, it is System UI / Battery Full. Unfortunately I cannot disable any of the System UI notifications.
Any workaround?
Update: System UI on the Note9 doesn't have a "battery full" trigger, hence why I've never seen it. Definitely something introduced on the S10.

It's not new to the S10, my S8+ had it. Unplug the phone at 100% if it really bothers you that much.
Long press the notification and select "details". Or, just go to settings/notifications/see all - Select "all" in the dropdown, select system apps in the overflow menu and scroll down to System UI and disable the notification for Battery Full. Obviously, the first method is faster

Battery full, infact all of the System UI notifications are force enabled. Even silent and minimised it shows on the notification bar.

Well that's ****ty. I didn't even notice that they were greyed out.
there is an app, autonotification. you can use it hide persistent notifications. I used it to hide some Gear Wearable notifications, works great.

I think we'd all prefer a native solution (even if it had to be done with ADB)

Yep; however, even on Pixels, not all of them are able to be disabled.
basically it's effed up that the guru's (used liberally) think that the average phone owner shouldn't be allowed to turn off any effing notification we want. I have a galaxy S9+ and if my phone is plugged in at night, and I don't mute notifications, there is no way to stop the annoying battery full notification. It's grayed out, along with all others except for "screenshits" and "app icon badges" wake TFU android idiot programmers and fix this crap.
Same problem here on my Note 10. All notifications in the system UI are forced on and grayed out. Has anyone found a fix yet?
hmmm which CSC and which version are you guys on? my s10+ doesnt have that ridiculous icon when plugged in and 100% full. looks like a CSC feature and if so it could be switched off (with root - by modifying CSC xml file) or you just flash another CSC as long as it doesnt effect your baseband
Update: Did a quick check but i couldnt find "Battery full" category in Notifications -> SystemUI. Only "Low battery". Probably something based off CSC?
s3, s5, note5, s8+ all had the notification lights for messages, missed calls, batt charging/full + any other notifications desired.
lack of notification the notification light/s on s10+, with infinity o display is my only gripe with the phone.
Get actual Samsung Edge Lighting Notifications with any app while your screen is off!
Since we all know Samsung only did half the job with this feature, this app will enable you to trigger Edge Lighting (the real one !) when your screen is off. It works with any app by reading the app notification creating a new temporary notification that triggers edge lighting (you won't notice it in your notification list).
You can set custom color filters for your apps, based on their names.
Real Samsung Edge Lighting
Extremely minimal battery drain
No fake AOD Screen
Works with ANY app (including Messenger!)
Initial setup is a bit tedious, but that's mostly Samsung's fault.
Any suggestion to improve the app is -of course- welcome!

Thanks.
Working perfectly on note 8.
Works perfectly on my note 9 ?
Great job man !
Warning : there is a new version of the app ont the Play Store, but it is actually a new app because, for whatever reason, Play Console started to reject my updates...
The first post has been updated with the new link.
You have to set it up again, but I've implemented the search function so it will be super fast
Great, thank you, Note 8 and 9

Does this app only notify once when you get a notification or does it also make the Edge Lighting come on at intervals until you check the notifications?

No it just works only once like regular Edge Lighting does.
It's a very required feature so I've been thinking about it. But every solution I've tried so far is way too heavy on the battery since I have to wake the phone up every time I wanna trigger edge lighting (which would typically be less than every minute). You don't wan't to get a text 5mn after you go to sleep and have your battery empty by morning (which could make you very late for work).
I think solutions that only use AOD like HoleyLight or AOD notifications are the way to go if you want a reminder for unread notifications.

I wanted continuous reminder with Edge Lighting, like every 30 seconds until I check the notification, I've been using an app called Always On Edge - Edge Lighting and it works very doesn't eat up battery at all, plus when I go to bed my phone goes on the charger and DND is turned on, the Edge lighting doesn't come on. Using on my Note 9.

Yeah I know about Always on Edge and I find it way too battery hungry.
Hi dude, I appreciate your work. If you support note FE, I would be glad to it.
What happened to the LED style reminder mode? I was keen as for that.
It was listed in the app description on Google Play as to be coming in mid-July but I noticed all of that has been removed out of the text recently.
On my Note 10, i set it for Whatsapp Business but it's still showing the default purple instead of the green which i set. Any workaround this ? Cheers mate. Nice app. @Zunderstruck
Really love the app, as it is exactly doing what i expected the Samsung Edge Lighting feature to do by default.
Unfortunately i have the same problem as @trapcoder666. The custom set colors get replaced by the color set for your app.
I followed this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/how-to/galaxy-s10-s10-debloat-bloatware-t3912073 and lost edge lighting icon and option under Display in s10. Is it associated with Bixby? Any way to bring it back?
Thanks so much for this! Works great on Android 10. I'll buy the premium version soon to remove ads but to also support you as this is genuinely a very useful app.
