List of Gear VR supported ROMs - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have spent the better half of the entire day looking for a ROM that i like but that also has Gear VR support embedded in it, the searching is looong and laborious and the list I have is somewhat small so I'd like to enlist the help of the community to post what ROM+rom version they are on and if it has or doesn't have Gear VR support so that people who are looking for that specific thing won't have to go through as much trouble as I am to find a compatible ROM.
I will update the list as people post so that it stays current. I plan on this covering more than just the VZW Note so please include what 910 model you have.
Supported Gear VR ROMs;
Omega Rom v4.0, 910V
MODest Rom v9, 910V
Non-Supported Gear VR ROMs;
Lineage OS 14.1, 910V
Nseven Rom v4, 910V

Does this means oculus working in those Roms?

On the list of supported ROMs, yes.

910V Nseven is a NOGO, MODest is an affirmative

Sorry to not get this Tutorial as elaborated as I wroth before but I get flustered by getting a error when submit
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I use a windows software call SamFirm do download VERY FAST the lastest original firmware from Samsung servers.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Note 1: You need to specify the “Region/Country” of the Firmware. For that, you can look at some sites that have the same Firmware (Links below). But don’t download from this sites, because is VERY SLOW.
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T230NU
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T230NU/
http://www.androidayos.com/galaxy-tab-4-stock-firmware/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/links-stock-galaxy-tab-4-firmware-t3013128
Note 2: The region “BNN” is for the Samsung galaxy Tab 4 7.0 Nook Edition
How to use SamFirm:
1 - Model = SM-T230NU <-----------------(Ex: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 7.0" = SM-T230NU)
2 - Region = BNN <------------------------(Ex: “BNN” for Nook Edition)
3 - Auto = ON
4 - Click "Check Updates", if firmware for the particular region exist you see a msg in Log Window below
5 - Check CRC32 = ON <--------------------- Check is the file is intact
6 - Decrypt automatically = ON <----------- Decrypt file after download
7 - Click "Download” and choose the destination folder
8 – Extract the .md5 using 7-Zip (Nota: WinRAR get error sometimes)
9 – Done, now you can use Odin3 to upgrade you firmware
Cheers

It sounds like you were asking about custom ROMs, as opposed to keeping official firmware up to date which is what BXA is talking about. For the record, instead of installing an extra app just to keep up to date on official firmware releases, you can always check my threads which I keep up to date on official firmware releases for all Tab 4 variants:
--Official Tab 4 KitKat Firmware thread
--Official Tab 4 Lollipop Firmware Thread
Assuming you were inquiring about custom ROMs, below is a list of the most popular and/or well-maintained ROMs that will work for your device (pro-tip, even if the ROM says it's only for the SM-T230, it will work on your device, but you probably will lose IR blaster functionality). Before you ask, there are no viable CyanogenMod-based or even AOSP-based ROMs for this device (or SM-T230). They tried to get CyanogenMod working for your device, but as of right now the available builds either don't boot entirely or boot but have bugs like Wi-Fi not working. I'll link to the thread with the relevant info and downloads, but don't expect much, certainly nothing stable enough for daily use. The list I promised you:
--Acheron ROM (well maintained, popular, great dev to interact with, and even though I don't own your device, my recommended starting point)
--Prism Barebones (unfortunately apparently no-longer maintained, but still a solid, popular ROM by a well-respected dev, a legit alternative to Acheron)
--TranchidaKat (seemed to be gaining in popularity, unfortunately the dev recently took a break from maintenance)
--T230 Smooth ROM (I don't really know much about this ROM, but from what I can tell it seems/seemed reasonably popular)
There are a couple more ROMs I feel reluctant even mentioning, and can't really recommend with any sort of confidence. The first had an OK dev (seemed to be in the up and coming, eager to learn but not experienced stage of being a ROM developer): Octagon ROM
The next ROMs I'm going to mention I can't recommend in good confidence not just they're now slightly out of date, but because they seemed to have a few bugs, but more so the developer doesn't do much to instill my confidence in their knowledge base when it comes to developing ROMs for android. Also they're not really custom ROMs more than they're just the stock ROM with themes and skins applied, as opposed to any real under-the-hood performance improvements: Everything Google ROM; the previous ROM with a Marshmallow skin; and Android 5.0 Lollipop Material Design -{theme}-
Finally the CyanogenMod thread I mentioned, even though as I said, you will be disappointed if you insist on downloading anything to try it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/dev-cm12-1-t230-nu-development-thread-t3190971
One last thing before I go, in case you haven't found the custom recovery you need, you have three (although the first two are more recommended) choices: an older version of TWRP which I can guarantee will work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/root-galaxy-tab-4-7-t230-t2835264
Or a newer version of TWRP which should work for your device but I cannot personally guarantee that (click the link that says twrp-3.0.0.0-degas-160207-0212): http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-1-0-samsung-galaxy-t2922795
Regarding that newer TWRP, I'm pretty sure I've seen posts confirming it works for your device but I can't recall for sure and I personally installed the first (older version) on a friend's SM-T230NU, so your call. If you have a strong personal preference for CWM as opposed to TWRP, you can try the following recovery, but it's not actively maintained any longer, so be warned. Although to be fair, it works fine as far as I can tell, so again your call: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/recovery-philz-smnu-t2980094

[Request] A Clean OS for the Tab A 7.0 (SM-T280)

Hello there
As the title tells you, i would like to have a clean OS for the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (SM-T280)
With clean OS i mean a completely debloated rom without any extras. As slim as possible. Just a launcher and Core GApps (Playstore + Maps)
Maybe a debloated ROM or a debloation script. or a List of removeable Apps
I notices that the LTE version of the tablet, the SM-T285, allready got some non Touchwiz roms.
CM13 by Jedld and CM14.1 by Jedld
The best what could happen would be, if a developer from the T280 could make it compatible.
Jedld said:
SM-T280 Users: Unfortunately this rom would probably not work on it since the SM-T285 and SM-T280 have different kernels and slightly different hardware. I don't have access to this device so it would be hard for me to port it over. However I believe there are a lot of similiarities in the device tree that can be shared. If a dev with the SM-T280 is interested I can probably help.

It would be great if someone could help
Greetings!
A month ago i inquired about the likeliness of a ROM for the 280. There was some work being done on it but unfortunately it stopped. As long as devs don't have the device, no work will be done for it. So unless we (requesters) bundle and buy a 280 for a dev (something unlikely to happen) we can only hope.
i want it to
Just orered this tab, was at special price, sad to hear this
I guess all we can do is root and debloat

it is not ruled out that there will be development for this tablet

[Discussion] SM T819 - Lineage OS - A possible starting point!

I have been waiting quite some time for a custom rom for SM T819 but I haven't see much progress in this. I looked for a device with similar specs for our device and came across this device which already has a Lineage OS build available. Its practically the same device but with a different screen size.
LeEco Le 2 Specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/leeco_le_2-8053.php
LeEco Le 2 Lineage OS Github Repo: https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_leeco_s2
It will be a good starting point as I think for getting a custom rom for this device with a great potential. I have read that having spec devices is a great start to porting a ROM from one device to another without specifically building it from the source. However it includes a few build prop tweaks and changing few lines on kernel which I have no technical expertise.
Looking forward for your thoughts.
It's true, personally I don't have this tab but I had experience with a Tab I used which was similar in specs with S4 Mini ..
You'll get bugs though and you can base device tree from the Leeco Phone to build ROMs
Anything new here?
Seems like @tuxing built a modified T813 LOS build for himself, but of course no LTE in there. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73992901&postcount=552
i really hate the lack of support for LTE Tablets :/
Hi guys, I don't know if i am on topic but 'cause of this lack of ROMs for the T819, can I install the one for the T813? I know there is no LTE, but if I wanna try the ROM can I install it or it is incompatible with the T819?

Not that easy, but I had a nice chat session with @LuK1337 and he explained me how to get things built and boot on T819: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/general/guide-build-lineageos-15-1-t819-t3721477
It's not that difficult as I thought. @LuK1337 told me it's simple and even I managed to get it working.

Installing Custom Rom for Samsung Galaxy Tab E SM-T560 on Samsung GalaxyTab E SM-T561

Good day everybody,
I am completely new in the Custom Rom world.
I've recently found a custom rom which is designed for Samsung Galaxy Tab E SM-T560, but I would like to install it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab E SM-T561. The Custom rom is LineageOS gtelwifiue.
I have already TWRP installed.
I don't understand what is the difference between these two particular devices (they even look the same to me) and why they are called with the same name, but different model code. Is it possible that these two very similar devices have any compatibility? Or I will almost certainly brick my tablet?
Thank you,
Michele

Where or how did you found a custom Rom for the (SM-T560) model? can you share the link on a post because everyone in XDA is looking for a way to root this particular model and no one has ever made it. Or maybe you saw a Custom Rom for the (SM-T560NU) model?????. :/

Hello!
I have no idea, I am sorry. I don't know if SM-T560NU is actually the Galaxy Tab E 9.6" 16GB (Wi-Fi) (which seems to have model number SM-T560NZKUXAR). The version of lineageOS is gtelwifiue, designed for the Galaxy Tab E 9.6" 16GB (Wi-Fi) (you can find it online; I am not allowed yet to post outside links).
However a fast research seems to tell me that you're right: SM-T560NU equals SM-T560NZKUXAR, but I am no expert.
My tablet (which is SM-T561) is actually rooted and TWRP is correctly installed (I mean the custom recovery mode).

gtelwifiue = Qualcomm SoC
gtelwifi = Spreadtrum SoC
Totally different devices and highly incompatible.
Here's LineageOS 11.0 based on 4.4 for gtelwifi (SM-T560): https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...-lineageos-11-0-samsung-galaxy-tab-e-t3711283

Any luck finding roms for t561?
Thank you for your answers.
No I didn't find any rom for my model. I gave up.
check this: Updating Android on SM-T560
even though it's for the SM-T560, it's originally for SM-t561(it also works for SM-T560) . Also, personal advice: never give up, especially when you're *this* close to something.

The SM-T560 is integrated with USB hub and SM-T561 is not. I have recently tried this but with original Samsung firmware and it went horribly wrong.

lineage, aosp for Samsung s8,,, are they coming???

when stock Android (lineage, aosp) gonna come for s8... any one is working on it??? any news??
Lineage is being worked on, but many important things don't work yet.

Can we help the development by running current (un)stable builds (got a spare S8 for that), or can we track the current progress anywhere?
As long as it's not for the USA version I'm pretty sure exynos will have lineage in no time
