My SM-G930A automatically updated from Marshmallow to Nougat and it continues to automatically install updates without my consent (I loved Marshmallow). I've been looking around on the forums here for days and from what I've seen, you can't downgrade firmware on a phone with a locked bootloader such as the SM-G930A running on AT&T's network. All I am trying to do is run Marshmallow and prevent my phone from ever updating out of it. Can this be done? If it is impossible with a SM-G930A, could it at least be done with a SM-G930U, while still utilizing AT&T as my service provider? Thanks.
To whoever answers this: I owe you my life.
Can anyone answer this? Plz halp.

Hi, I've been searching for a solution for failed Lollipop update on my AT&T device. I bought my device with AT&T and switched to T-mobile with sim unlock a year later. I'm currently running N900A...NC2 (4.4.2). My device is rooted but i haven't done much after rooting it except removing some bloatware. I'm able to download the OTA update that AT&T is pushing (at least i think its the lollipop update). However, after download the installation fails. I don't know if this is because i'm not with AT&T any longer or is it because my device is rooted. Tried calling T-mobile with no avail. Wondering what my options are at this point.
I read in a thread here that DO NOT FLASH other carrier's stock firmware with ODIN. How true is that? I'm pretty novice at Android devices. So any help/suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Root can stop OTA.
ATT note forum is here .

I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (Unlocked) and I am currently using it on Cricket wireless. The phone is currently running on Android 4.4.3 and I would like to update the same to Lollipop. Samsung Galaxy S4 got Lollipop rolled out by AT&T recently but I was not able to get the same since I switched carriers.
Now what is the best way to update the phone. If possible I don't want to root the phone. I went to best buy local store but they were not able to do the same as they said the phone is unlocked. Please let me know how I can update my phone to the latest version. It will be really helpful if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks all in advance for the help.
Will putting a AT&T sim in my phone help with the OTA? In the sense if I get an AT&T sim card from someone or purchase one and put it in to my phone will that help with the OTA? I am not sure if this phone was unlocked by AT&T.
I was able to successfully install the updates on my phone. I was able to downgrade my phone by installing stock 4.4.2 using ODIN and then was able to upgrade my device to 4.4.4 first and then update to 5.0.1 via OTA. It was an easy process and the instructions in the ODIN thread was really helpful.
Similar situation
I too have an unlocked SGH-I337 that is unlocked from AT&T and I'm using it on T-Mobile. How did you perform the Lollipop update without an AT&T SIM? I took mine to the Samsung experience at Best Buy and they weren't able to do it via Kies and they believe it's because it's unlocked. Nothing else has been done to it, just the AT&T unlock so that I could switch carriers.
Thanks in advance,
Charlotte
I had my phone unlocked on pe1 I think by a guy with a z3x box and then updated to nougat because of boot looping issue to fix it, is it perm?, could I switch to the u on nougat or is it only a older version to older version, I read a guy went from nougat to 6.0.1 then to 6.0 on u from Sprint, and it works, just wanted a link to the g930u firmware I see be, Apr, att, t mobile, virgin mobile, unknown, do they all work fine or are they somewhat carrier specific?
As far as I am aware the AT&T Galaxy S8 Active is supposed to be compatible with Android 9.0 (Pie). I just bought an unlocked version of this phone on Amazon and it is currently on Android 8.0 (Oreo). This is the baseband version: G892AUCS3BRG1. I have tried flashing the update file from this post, but I kept getting a PIT error. I also tried using Samsung's Smart Switch, but that also says that 8.0 is 'up to date'. I don't plan on getting an AT&T sim and the phone currently has no sim. Now that you know the information here is my question: How can I update to 9.0 without getting an AT&T sim? The best solution would be a working 9.0 Flash for my device. Thanks to anyone who figures anything out.
Hi All,
I'm new to Samsung devices though a longtime Linux and Android user. My wife recently received a Galaxy 8S SM-G950U from a friend. It's carrier locked to Sprint (by way of Boost), but she uses Verizon. Her friend initiated the UICC unlock and it sounds like that should go through in a day or two. So far so good. To get rid of all the Boost crud, (and maybe get OTA upgrades???) I want to flash the stock Verizon firmware for her device. I downloaded the firmware from sammobile and think I am ready to go with JOdin or heimdall. I have some questions; any assistance much appreciated:
Can I do this? (Replace Boost stock with Verizon stock firmware)
Should I do this? (I'm open to other suggestions and honestly would prefer unbranded if possible)
Does she have any hope of OTA upgrades afterwards?
What is the USERDATA_VZW_*.tar.md5 file and where does it go? (None of the Odin threads/sites seem to mention it)
Thank you much!
