So its been awhile since I've had a rooted phone and just recently got a S6 Edge+ (SM-G928A). Whats a good ROM to run thats de-bloated...the AT&T and Samsung crap is taking up a lot of room and I have no desire to use any of it.
Also, I remember reading awhile back that Google Wallet wouldn't work on rooted phones anymore. Is that true?

2 good ones are khongloi rom and dr ketan rom. Both are a bit outdated due to all the developers for the s6 edge plus custom roms dissapearing but yea they are still good. I am currently using the dr ketan rom and all I needed to do was to update the supersu.
I have to disagree on khongloi. You get all the cool new features but you're battery won't last you trough lunch.

I haven't checked on if it works on the 928A, but I'm using pixel v6 rom.
Battery seems good and using magisk manager and hide root I can run apps like banking, pokemon etc.
It's stripped of most of the Samsung junk but it can be installed if you want it.
I have been using Dr. Ketan Latest Rom of Galaxy Note 5. I think both of the phones have same hardware and architecture thats why Dr. Ketan's Note 5 rom is working flawlessly on my S6-edge+ (G928f)
I am using DR. Ketan ROM with KHONGLOI kernel and my battery lasts 2-3 days (sometimes even more), also I haven't rebooted my phone for 72 days. Everything working great and super fast, I even have "Always on display" (but don't use it, because it uses a lot of power). I also have my Garmin Fenix 3 connected 24/7.

I have tried few most popular roms for note 3 (even tho its TMO i was using supported ones) and i can tell you that stock lolipop gave me best experience and here is why.
My first rom ever to be flashed was darklord note 5 port by darkera13 and even though it gave me stunning battery idle time it also gave me some bad experiences using camera software which was either poor quality or simply not working when it was needed.
Next I tried s6 port by same developer assuming 5.0.2 base would be much more compatible with our official one but there were some massive memory redraws and weird display brightness bug(screen becomes dim on wakeup).
Since roms above were used as base to other port style roms I dont expect any better from them.(not saying they are bad, contrary, but when stability and reliability is in question ill prefer stock sluggy rom.
I must say that I have never used CM on note 3 so I must leave that to someone else but by the time I am writing this i am using stock and only 5.0 rom provided by TMO on top of lean kernel.(also its massively debloated ).
Cheers,hope it helps!!
AryaMod: Fully featured. Stable. Fluid too (as fluid as stock), and believe some features are really handy, like the alarm notification on lock screen which Samsung omitted from Lollipop. Just use it without Xposed, and you are good to go.

Try tazzy-aurora note 5 port with darklord kernel 1.5 & LS speed mod. Everything works fine and it's really fast with good battery life.
I flashed the s6 settings + stock ui mod (extra mods) and i'm really happy with. Also no camera flickering with darklord kernel
See my sig. Temasek ftw ^^

AryaMod IMO is by far the best Lollipop TW based experience available. I tried literally every single rom from here for 5.0 and nothing compares to Arya when it comes to stability, usage, battery... I highly recommend it!
Always back to cyanogemod CM12.1 = quick, slim, reliable. Only negative is of course the lack of s pen, but you got some third party apps for that.
Used to be great fan of miui, however they are now getting less popular by making their new MIUI 7 lollipop based, which is a sad thing.
Got my s7 last week. Impressed with the hardware overall. Cameras perfect, CPU is good for 2 years down the road, and the screen is as good as it gets. BUT STOCK TW IS DEFINATELY NOT RECOMMENDED FOR XPOSED. Xposed works but for a device this powerful it is still so choppy and unresponsive that I miss my note 3 Stock TW + Xposed just doesnt meet the pricetag.
I'm not a rookie. I have been using xposed since the s2, I disabled package. I froze apps I kept my modules to a minimum but i can't be the only one to agree this version of TW just won't work with customizations. My note 3 ran stock KK with xposed and all things wonderful better than any custom rom I came across WITH EQUIVALENT FEATURES. I only compare it because for its time and hardware the speed wasnt nearly effected as much
Just my 2 cents I'm sure some will agree and some won't but the phone unrooted and unmodified is the fastest device I've ever used. But when you start the standard procedure of adding the things we need most the phone goes downhill fast. And I'm looking forward to all that this community will offer.
I remember when I had my s5 there was stable root options rather quickly but stable root for s7 is taking awhile. Just curious what it is about this phone that's taking a bit? Is it at&t? Samsung security? Lack of Devs?

Tbh as long as you don't use xposed and you flash the v15 fix, it runs just as well as stock. Using it on the g930u romantic and I get even better performance and battery life than with stock att rom
As for the time, Samsung has seriously locked this phone down. The normal kernel would not allow any changes to the system, the hash would mismatch. The engineering kernel is more permissive and allows such things. Android vulnerabilities such as towel root are also much more scarce.

Xposed is what makes it unstable. If you go without Xposed your rom will be ? (plus using the u rom helps)
Before I installed the u rom and rooted, my phone would lose 17% just from being locked in my pocket. Now it's only 8. For 3 hours. Works great.
There's really no point to rooting if xposed and custom ROMs are out of the question IMO

my s7 is using U-Firmware but no xposed.. being rooted is good to rid of bloated ware apps, use ADBlock host, using screen off app (it requires rooted), freezing background apps that i dont use them and its fun to goofing around with /system and /data... and i am using iron man boot animations. there is a custom ROM working now on forum.

Rooting is still great if the are no custom roms (which there are)( Echoe rom is running smoothly) all it takes is a little research to learn how to mod yourself and little things that you can do to improve your phone yourself. Not knocking anyone that don't know how cause i still don't know a bunch but there is a lot of things you can do yourself to improve the phone experience. (After all, people that build roms are everyday people that learned!)

I ran the U FW for a little while but noticed that my battery was getting taxed really bad despite not having any bloat installed so I switched back to stock and it normalized.
Aside from not being able to uninstall the bloatware and change my boot ani, I can do everything you're doing. I have a package disabler (freezing apps), I have a system wide adblocker (adguard) that works perfectly well. Nova has gestures sop I can double tap to lock the screen. I personally have no use for root apps any longer. I can't install a custom kernel so can't over clock the processor, I don't need titanium backup because I'm not going to need to restore my phone after a flash, I'm not sure if viper sound mod works with S7 but I'd certainly want that again.
I'm happy with the phone as is and don't really see the need to modify it in any way aside from the visual customizations and those options are virtually limitless without root also

The problem is I'm on at&t with the snapdragon processor so the phone is locked down very tight. If I had the international version, sure, I may screw around with whatever custom ROMs that are out there but I really don't feel the need. My first smartphone was a galaxy S and I didn't even have that for a month before I rooted it and slapped on some custom ROMs. I flashed that phone well over 50 times with either different ROMs or updates that required a clean flash to operate correctly. I owned a galaxy S3 and did the same thing with that phone. Owned an HTC ONE M8 and ran practically all the customs that were available for that phone too so I have had my fun with firmware customization and then some. Sadly, I couldn't go 6 months without the ROMs ****ting the bed because as you said, the ROM cookers are regular ppl too. Memory leaks were always a serious problem so I was basically CONSTANTLY troubleshooting my devices to get them to run optimally. Inevitably, when I really needed my phone for something is when these problems would occur! That got old! I'm perfectly happy with this device as is. It runs exceptionally well without me forever having to mess with it.
Have your fun. There's a lot of neat things to learn and discover and a lot of heart attacks too when you think, crap, I really screwed up this time! How am I gonna get myself out of THIS mess, lol

You are correct on every thing you mentioned above. I in a lot of ways are like you, i have had my ups and downs with flashing and recovering and what not. That is why i started learning how to do more myself do that i didn't flash a rom with so many things i didn't need or want. I used to run exposed on every rom and every phone for simple things that i thought were "cool" but i didn't really need. Ever since i quit using exposed and stated modding things that i actually use i quit having problems. I do still run roms, but am a lot more cautious on what i flash. But the Echoe rom (without installing exposed) is one if the smoothest roms i have ever ran. Absolutely no issues so far except swipe text does not work in the stock "Internet" App which is fixed in the updated version which i haven't upgraded to since it is still in beta. But all that aside, i still don't mind messing with things on a day to day basis and i still have the time for it.
Hi!
Does anybody experiences degradation on performance after some time using custom roms?
I used some and the first days works like a charm but after some time performance seems to degrade, for example, someone calls, it begins to ring but it takes 2 seconds for calller image to appear and thats is one example. With rooted rom I dont have that degradation to the point I never restar my phone because its working fine.
Tnx
There is no perfect costume ROM.
think about it!! Even the performance of the stock unrooted ROM starts to get worse after a while of using.
This is the Tragedy of all android devices.

To be honest this stock rom, rooted, with xposed and some modules its been working fine for 3 months. I didnt restarted the phone and its working like charm. My note 4 its running with rooted stock rom and its working fine. My old s4 mini non rooted worked for years without wipe and now, without wipe my kid uses it to play and film.
Maybe I dont use the cellphone that much, I dont know but it works fine, never a reboot, never a wipe. The thing with custom roms its that they dont survive even 3 weeks. I dont know exactly where is the flaw but "normally" they degrade quickly and I dont know why.
I used Superman ROM for example. The rom its fine, fast at first but one week later it becomes slower, 2 or 3 weeks later you can see that someone its calling you but you dont see the pic nor the ringtone for some seconds and in time things get worse.
What apps do I use?
Wasup, maxton browser maybe once or twice a day, twitter once a day, simpsons game and nothing more.
I think its not the kind of use that can drgrade a ROM.
Maybe I'm missing something, maybe I have to do something to my phone to not loose performance (delete cache, etc)...
BB
In my experience, the stock rom rooted or not, has better stability and least bug (if there is one) compared to custom roms.
Some Users prefer custom roms due to a leaner build and higher speed, but mostly these roms have one or more bugs that may annoy a User. This is understandable I guess for custom roms because they are not built by a professional team of software developers compared to i.e Samsung or LG.
I'm looking for the best Exynos compatible ROM for this old phone now. I would like to retain full S-Pen functionality without having to pay for it. Google tells me there's some paid apps that add S-Pen features to roms that don't come with it, but I don't want to go down that route.
Any suggestions?
NEMESIS REFINED V3.8.5 N7 Port. By far my all time fav ; )
Can't speak about the Refined Nougat N7FE Port 5.6 [EOL] because I simply can't let go of my REFINED V3.8.5...it's too good!
All Note 4 features work, S-Pen, and Camera etc, fast and stable Rom.
Is there a rom that has ALL Spen features? I'm getting a Note 4 soon and want to root but don't want to lose the functionality.

Refined Nougat N7FE Port 5.6 is by far the best. You can't compare it to older versions. The speed and battery life is amazing. Its super stable, it has all spen features, audio works well for me. Go for it bud. You won't be disappointed
Refined Nougat N7FE Port 5.6 by @ananjaser1211. Currently the best ROM for Exynos Note4

My brother and my mom and I all run the same model Verizon Note 4. Mine ended up getting an update that bricks the memory the CPU uses to save its state when it goes into sleep mode. Had to grab an app to force Partial Wake Lock so it doesn't touch that memory. Software fixes can't help at this point since it damaged the physical memory. More stuff broke so this time I'm switching ROMs out the gate so I don't get hit with the same hardware damaging firmware.

You might be onto something there.
I never had any problems with my unlocked n910c until one day when after a software update the ir blaster stopped working.
I tried everything to make it work again, but with no success.
After some time another update came in and it was functioning again. I was so happy. Everything was perfect again.
But then after a while I was stupid enough to install another software update and this time the blaster went missing for good.
I still miss it sometimes...
