Hi All,
Currently released version of Samsung Omnia i900 does not support UMTS 850/1900, which are north american 3G frequencies, according to official Samsung documentation, as well as FCC approval docs. However it has been recently established the radio chip does support those frequencies, and they are locked in the firmware only. Here is the evidence to support this claim:

On the page 4 of the "Internal Photos" document you can clearly identify the radio chip - it's Qualcomm RTR6285 and according to Qualcomm:
"Support for Eight UMTS Bands, Four EGPRS Bands, Triple-Band Receive Diversity and GPS Integrated into Power-Optimized RTR6285 Device": http://www.qualcomm.com/news/releases/2006/060213_worlds_first_single.html
So, it's only as matter of unlocking those frequencies in the current firmware. Samsung made our job a little easier, by recently making a public release of new ROM with updated firmware, so we won't have to dump it ourselves: http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/sg/sub02_xp.jsp#
I have limited free time and limited experience with reversing PDA firmware, to be able to achieve this by myself - please help.
I just got an Omnia and sometimes it hits the 3g network so i am sure that the firmware is there but it is locked.

more details please - where are you at? what network/carrier do you mean? do you really see 3G icon and experience fast browsing/download? what is the firmware version on your Omnia? (Settings -> System ->Version)
AT&T.I have it from Singapore.PDA:i900DXHH3/DZHH3.As i mentioned it hits 3g for a minute or so and then it goes back to edge
man i sure hope this issue gets fixed!

AllTheWay I started this thread to solve the problem for people in US,who already have Singapore/European Omnia, the i900. It's a well known fact Mirage hits AT&T on October 21st, but it doesn't help us one bit. Unless of course, you're willing to dump the ROM from i907, reverse it and replace the i900's radio with the one from i907 with all supported UMTS frequencies unlocked
I wish somebody could help us out on this issue, I dont know enough about rom editing to be of use ;(

HTC Diamond users with US 3G - please help
I'm starting to believe it might actually be possible to tweak existing radio firmware to unlock UMTS 850/1900Mhz bands using already embedded secret debug menu from Samsung developers, rather than having to dump it, reverse it, patch and flash back. Here is the secret code to access Root Debug Menu on Omnia: *#197328640#
Option #4 "UMTS rf nv" has sub-option "umts rf nv write", which I think allows to modify the active UMTS bands in the radio. Assuming we have that set correctly, option #9 "Common" from the same Root Debug Menu has sub-option #5 "WCDMA Set Channel", which allows to specify downlink channel range.
Here is my idea: some devices, such as HTC Diamond with US 3G enabled radio, have the same Qualcomm chip as Omnia, and run the same WM 6.1 OS. So,
I'm thinking it's worth a shot if someone with US enabled HTC Diamond provided us with settings from his device for those 2 configurable menus I just mentioned. If you backup your own settings, so you could restore them if it doesn't work - I think trying settings from another device will not fry the radio, worst case scenario transceiver will just shut down and be offline until settings are restored.
This would be great.... Iv'e been dieing to get 3g in the usa with the omnia.... Can anyone help with this?

It may be easier to copy the setting from an I907 Epix. That has almost identical hardware and it is ATT + Samsung + Tri Band UMTS.
When I try writing the WCDMA channel it says "That value is wrong".
Also, I can only set one number, so I assume that they want me to set one in the listed range which is WCDMA2100.

Oddly, the Channels currently set stretch a few beyond the range cited on Wiki for WCDMA 2100. They start on the same channel.
Another oddity is that there is no uplink channel. I suppose that people just use Edge for this? Does the I907 do HSUPA?

i'm living in ISRAEL,
and we have GSM network but we also have another cellular company that work with "UMTS 2100/850" band..
i'm working well on 3G with the 2100 band (my onmina have only UMTS/WCDMA 2100 only without 850 also..)
i will be happy to open if it's possible the UMTS/WCDMA 850 also.. so i'll have both 2100 + 850 on WCDM/UMTS (not GSM) freq...
but i'm not shure it's possible to open what ever you like.. anyway i'll try to ask our guys (at my cellular company i'm working at) about this freq stuff...

also, just know.. my job is with Cellular phones.. and we have "for Testing" Omnia phone with WCDMA/UMTS 2100/850 bands..
but i don't know how i can download the firmware to my pc and try to use it on my omnia back...

as i think.. it's diffrent model.. I900L this "L" model.. not like ours phones... (i think, it's looks exactly the same!)
i don't think the ROM will chane the bands anyway..

i'm getting diffrent menu then our Omnias..
i'm getting 3 options that one of them it's "WCDMA Band Select" and in there you have ALL the UMTS bands and there is "Automatic" option.. what says this phone open to all kind of UMTS networks............ (including GSM also..)

anyway i hope this is only Rom issue... but anyway i can't "Rip" the rom right now.. because this phone is 24/7 testing time and i can't "make it gone" from the test station to drop the rom to my PC

Compiled from FCC information and Wikipedia for two of the Moto E LTE models:
FCC ID IHDT56QC8 (XT1528) -
This LTE transceiver supports high-speed wireless data communications within LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, and 13, with channels up to 20 MHz in bandwidth.
FCC ID IHDT56QC7 (XT1527) -
This LTE transceiver supports high-speed wireless data communications within LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 17, 25, 26, and 41, with channels up to 20 MHz in bandwidth.
From Wikipedia:
2 = 1900Mhz (PCS)
4 = 1700Mhz (AWS)
5 = 850 (Cellular?)
12 = 700 a
13 = 700 c
17 = 700 b
25 = 1900 g
26 = 850 (SMR?)
41 = 2500 (old WiMax)
So, the Verizon model (1528) will technically support LTE on AT&T and T-Mobile bands 2 & 4. It has all three Verizon LTE bands (obviously) - 2, 4, 13. You would be missing LTE on AT&T band 17 and LTE on T-Mobile band 12.
The other model (1527) will support LTE on AT&T in 2, 4, and 17. Will support Sprint on 2, 25, 26, and 41. Will support T-Mobile on 2, 4, and 12. Technically it might also support Verizon on 2 and 4. (Verizon is currently using 4 as part of XLTE in certain markets, and I don't know if think are running LTE on 2 at all. )
It appears that the 1527 model is the better one to get for band coverage, unless you want Verizon LTE on band 13.
Found a third model. From FCC docs:
FCC ID: IHDT56QC1.
This mobile device is also equipped with an LTE transceiver. This LTE transceiver supports high-speed wireless data communications within LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, and 17, with channels up to 20 MHz in bandwidth.
This particular variant will work on LTE on AT&T in bands 2, 4, and 17. It will work on LTE on T-Mobile in 2, 4, and 12. It will work on Verizon's LTE on 2 and 4, but is missing Verizon's core band 13 (700c). Not sure which provider is using it with on band 5 (850). This model apparently (compared to QC7) is missing the Sprint LTE bands completely (25, 26, 41).

Does the Verizon XT1528 support GSM bands?
All postpaid Verizon 4g lte have UNLOCKED GSM bind if I am correct. Has Verizon been able to block GSM bands in the Moto E 2015?

the Verizon Moto E 2015, sadly ISN'T internationally unlocked, i currently have two and they won't connect to my GSM netwrok . I'd assume this is also the case for domestic USA networks

I got the VZW Moto E working on a AT&T GoPhone SIM. The phone complains that it isn’t a VZW sim and there isn’t an option to switch to GSM is the settings menu. Though you can definitely adjust that setting elsewhere (no rooting involved). Just install this app "4G LTE Switch" . All the app does is spawn an activity that is actually in the Android Settings app that normally is only accessible by a special code in the dialer. Motorola has removed that special code, so you have to get at it this way. This app is hardly the only one to do the same thing. You could do the same thing from APEX launcher by selecting the right activity to spawn in the Android Settings app.
Once you’re into the Phone Info menu, just scroll down to “Set preferred network type” and choose LTE/GSM. Once I did that, the phone connected to AT&T LTE. I was able to place a call as well. I also saw it drop to H+, so I know UMTS was working as well. If you reboot the phone though, it will revert to “LTE/CDMA” mode and you will again have to change it back to “LTE/GSM”.
A STRONG WORD OF CAUTION... There is a menu in the upper right hand corner of the phone info screen. In that menu is an option to "Set Radio Band". In there, you will be presented with two options. Choosing either option will limit the bands your phone will use at a given time. It will not open up more bands for you to use. By default, your phone's baseband (the processor that controls the radio) will select bands automatically without restrictions. Once you make a selection from this menu, YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK TO AUTOMATIC MODE. (Never say never... you can just reflash the baseband to reset it... but you don't want to have to do this) A factory reset doesn't fix this because this setting is made in the phone's baseband and not within Android OS. Bottom line, don't get curious and use the "Set Radio Band" option. I made this mistake with a Moto X and was finally able to fix it by reflashing the baseband.

This intrigues me as well. Airtel, the most popular carrier in India, runs GSM 1800,900 UMTS 2100 LTE 40 (2300). The VZW Moto E according to the RF Exposure Report on the FCC for IHDT56QC8 says that the Moto E only supports CDMA 1900,850 GSM 1900,850 UMTS 1900,1700,850 LTE 2 (1900), 4 (1700), 5 (850), 13 (750). That would mean that there is no way that a VZW Moto E would run on Airtel. Does the phone support more bands than are listed in the FCC filing or did you do something else like flash a different baseband?

Thanks for the advice, It worked with app "4G LTE Switch", BUT the sim card is still not recognizable, I mean it says Sim card is not from Verizon. Luckily the phone and the SIM card are working now. Thanks again my friend

Appreciate the warning, but there is a simple workaround I just accidentally did this and the radio was disabled, but if you set 'LTE/GSM' in the app, and then go into normal 'settings -> Wireless & Networks -> More -> Cellular networks -> Network Operators -> Choose Automatically' will bring back auto selection.

Note: The title of this guide is Enabling LTE bands, but actually, it's for LTE and for HSDPA bands.
This is something near and dear to me, as I travel the world somewhat and really prefer to have only one phone.
I spent all day figuring out how to add more LTE bands to this phone (I have a bootloader unlocked H815, European version, so please understand that it may not work with other versions, and simply can't even be attempted until you can root it.)
The model I own comes with the following bands:
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 17(700), 20(800), 28(700)
I noticed, however, in the hidden testing menu (277634#*#, Field Test, Modem Settings, Network Mode), the following extra bands, none of which worked:
WCDMA 800, WCDMA AWS (1700/2100)
Along with the following extra LTE bands(277634#*#, Field Test, Modem Settings, LTE Band Selection), again, none of which worked:
Band 12, 13, 25, 29, 40
The result?
Having enabled all of the LTE bands available in the testing menu, I was able to add WCDMA 800 and AWS bands, along with LTE band 40. Unfortunately at this time, Bands 12, 13, 25, and 29 do not work, even if enabled. However, a T-Mobile radio file might help for band 12 if it's a radio issue, or it could be a hardware difference in which case there's nothing we can do. I really don't know until I can test with it. I'm happy about the extra bands, though, because in the US I use T-Mobile, so AWS helps, and in Japan, band 800 is used. Maybe I'll use 40 if I go to China some time.
So how to actually do this?
Step 1: Unlock bootloader and root. You can find out how to do that in other threads.
Step 2: Install the LG USB Drivers. It comes with the LG PC Software.
Step 3: Download CDMAtool from here: http://cdmatool.com/ A free trial works fine for this.
Step 4: Make sure you have adb, and connect your G4 to your PC. In an adb shell, execute the following:
su
echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/lg_diag_cmd/diag_enable
Step 5: Unplug and re-plug your USB cable. Your phone is now in diag mode (although you wouldn't know any better because you don't get any special device names in Device Manager.)
Step 6: Open DFS which you downloaded from CDMAtool.com Deal with making an account, etc. as you have to get into the software. Close the account window and the actual software will launch.
Step 7: Double click your device to put a checkmark by it in DFS.
Step 8: Click the Band tab. Choose RF BC Config at the bottom. Then, choose read.
Step 9: Make sure your bands are displayed. Check the extra bands you want to add. I recommend against enabling bands other than those mentioned in this thread, but you can try at your own risk (in fact, I'd be interested to see if any work!)
Step 10: Click Write.
Step 11: Click the LTE tab. Click Read. Check the bands you want to add, click write. Then, choose LTE BC Config DIV LTE #6829 at the bottom and repeat the process again there.
Step 12: Sometimes the write doesn't go through, and I have no idea why, but I found it helps to play with your phone for five minutes after writing. Also, I found that even if you're not changing bands, it's somehow necessary to flash HSDPA and LTE bands both in one go before restarting the phone. Otherwise strange things happened like losing bands. I was able to get them back though by re-flashing.
Step 13: Reboot your phone and pray.
Step 14: Go into the hidden menu and test the new bands. If they work, you will see SUCCESS when you press them in the test menu. (277634#*#, Field Test, Modem Settings, Network Mode/LTE Band Selection)

Bands are tied to the hardware. Software tweaking won't add them. Not unless they're already part of the hardware, but disabled and hidden by LG for some reason. But that's doubtful.
It might tell you they've been added, but I highly doubt they'll actually work. But I'm no expert so LG may have done something weird here.
So. I have a T MOUS HTC One M8. We have a Qualcomm LTE radio that apparently has access to Band 12 which is TMOUS new 700 MHZ spectrum.
I am currently on band 4 through LTE discovery. Is there any method for adding Band 12 to this version of the HTC One M8.
What aspect of this guide can be used to add to the HTC One M8 T-Mobile Version Band 12?

The added bands do work (depending on the band) so in this phone's case, two new hsdpa bands and one new LTE band were add-able.
I was able to personally confirm HSDPA AWS working on T-Mobile US. The other two added ones I can also confirm because they are scanning on that frequency when using the LTE Band test menu, although there is no local network to attach to.
With other phones even more drastic success stories exist:

But in this phone's case, the hardware supported more bands than were enabled, so enabling them was possible. I haven't been able to get particularly Band 12 working, probably because of either hardware or radio file, but it was nice to enable some other bands and see them work.
@the_scotsman the hardware in this case is able to do it normally, but LG has to pay a fee to unlock these bands which is why they're normally locked via firmware.

I worked with Qualcomm chips before so the software setting enables the bands in software. the_scotsman is correct in that if there are no antennae on the phone for those bands then the OP's guide will not do anything. Seems that the OP has confirmed that for bands like HSPA Band 4 the antenna is present. It could also be that the LG didn't calibrate performance of the phone on those new bands for this model. That all depends on how they are manufacturing this phone which we will never know.
Anyone else tried this out? I use the Canadian equivalent of T-mobile so I would need HSPA Band 4. I'm wondering if I should buy the international version and get the unlocked bootloader or buy the locked bootloader version for Canada.

Yes but the H815 from Europe can be rooted easily so this is an option if you bought this model of the G4.

I ended up with the Canadian version in the end. Turns out the H812 has all the canadian bands turned on and once you unlock the device you can go from a carrier who only uses HSPA(AWS) to one that uses LTE without any rooting or enabling bands. Seems at least for the Canadian version all the bands for all Canadian carriers was turned on.

Were you in a confirmed Band 12 area? Or did it say "fail" and not even scan it?
If he had a H811 model, Band 12 is enabled.. I had Band 12 LTE when I was in the US in the Maryland/DC Area..
Sorry for late reply. It said 'fail' and didn't scan. This is European H815. It's now bricked because I played with it too much.
Has anyone tried this on the VS986? It seems that band 2 is locked even though it's listed as a supported band. When using a T-Mobile SIM I only get LTE in band 4 areas and not band 2/12.

On the G3 you were able to use the HiddenMenu via a root-capable shortcut app, but now we can't access it as we get a FC. I skimmed this and didn't see the unlocked BL requirement, my bad!

In the field test menu on my rooted H818P under LTE Band Selection, I have listed 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,20,25,28,29,40, half of which say "FAIL" when you tap on them, including band 28, which is LTE700 in Australia (FDD)...yet this phones' specs indicate this works...so I'm a little baffled?!
I don't have an unlocked bootloader (obviously), so I guess that means I'm no hope of performing anything successful in terms of accessing other bands?

Well, they went from saying "FAIL" when chosen, to trying to find a signal. Not being in a Band 40 country, I can't be sure, of course, but my assumption is, since it became the same as all other bands which were to be supported by the phone, by not saying "FAIL," that it would work.
However, if you are sure that band 28 is working on your phone, and it still says FAIL, this opens the door to having more working than I thought, so it's certainly interesting! Sadly, as I mentioned before, my phone is currently unrecoverably bricked, so I have to wait for some kind of way out of the brick to continue this testing. Ironically, I'm going to China in August so I could have tested band 40

The problem I've discovered is band 28 (700mhz FDD) SHOULD be working on the H818P be default/stock....yet after root and accessing hidden menu, still says "FAIL"
Thats a huge worry, as the LG sticker with IMEI (etc) indicates it should work on that band!
Really hope unlocked bootloader is coming soon for H818P. Confirmed in the DUAL SIM thread, that phone *DOES* support 700Mhz bandwith...but for countries that probably have 100% of their population that DO NOT even own or sell this phone. Band 17 is supported, not Band 28 (densely populated countrieslike Aus, NZ etc). @duraaraa

Hi all,
After getting into some trouble with accidentally selecting USA Band in "Select Radio Band", I started to search for help on the forums and read a lot. Below you will find an easy way to unlock additional bands on your device or fix the issue of improper band selection.
DISCLAIMER
Given that maybe nothing will happen to your warranty or there are small chances that your device might get bricked, I feel the need to say that I am not responsible for any damage caused by following these instructions. Any modification that you do to your phone you're doing at your OWN RISK.
The steps are quite easy to follow and the instructions are made for beginners and for those who don't know ADB commands (I am one). There are plenty guides out there I should say, but this one is adapted to our Le Max2 and I need to say that it WILL FIX the USA Band selection mistake that some might do
Lets pass to the instructions:
1. Make sure your phone is rooted and you have SuperSU installed, ADB drivers installed
2. Download "Setup DFS Studio" from http://cdmatool.com or the DFS Studio 16.05.31.0 (an older version) from here https://mega.nz/#!h1ImHJyK!gBcp2j6wIp6e6smNvwuQ-GvxNTL6mYSoIjPkY_hJJVY
3. Connect the phone to the computer via USB
4. Select MTP and USB debugging
5. Open command prompt from Start => Run and type "cmd.exe". Once opened, type "adb shell". It should show "[email protected]_x2:/ $"
6. Open the SuperSU app on the phone
7. Type in cmd.exe "su" and grant access of ADB shell in SuperSU, you will see "[email protected]_x2:/ #"
8. Type in cmd.exe "setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb" and your phone will enter into Diagnotics Mode - this means that the MTP connection will be lost (you won't find any portable device in My Computer).
9. The drivers should be installed for the Diag Mode (in my case automatically - Win7 32bit) and you can see in Device Manager at Ports - Qualcomm HS-USB Android DIAG 901D (COMxx).
10. At this stage, if all should be well, you can start the "Qualcomm Tool" from DFS Studio folder. You can close the login window and it will run in demo mode (enough for what we need)
11. In the "Main" tab, double click on "Qualcomm HS-USB Android DIAG 901D (COMxx)" to select it - in the DFS log you will see "Qualcomm HS-USB Android DIAG 901D (COMxx) device in diagnostic mode"
12. In DFS Tool select tab "Band"
13. In tab "CDMA/GSM/HSPDA" select "RF BC Config" and then "Read"
14. Select the bands you need and then press "Write"
15. In the same tab, select "Bands Preffered" and do the same as above (read-write)
16. Select "LTE" tab which is aside "CDMA/GSM/HSPDA" and do the same as above. I changed values only in "LTE BC Config #6828" as the "LTE BC Config DIV #6829" didn't work for me when I pressed Read (there was nothing selected, all blank).
17. After operation had been completed, close Qualcomm Tool, unplug the phone and restart it.
Notes:
1* At point 9 if the drivers do not automatically install, search for HTC DIAG DRVIER and change the .inf file and install them manually
2* To exit the diagnose mode, just unplug the phone from the computer and it will return to normal on the next connection. Kindly note that during the diagnose mode, the phone will be in "Charge only" state.
3* To make sure that the procedure is successful, do the steps once again and press only "Read" after the restart to see that the bands are indeed added.
4* This guide might be used for any Qualcomm device as long as it can be entered in diag mode.
5* To fix USA BAND Selection issue, it is necessary to select in "Band Preferred" the same bands as in "RF BC Config" and then write them.
6* Some might think that if they will select all bands, then the phone will work also on the Moon/ Mars. Well, that's not the case... I'm not sure what antennas are within the handset itself and if it will be able to work on different bands than specified by LeEco, but one might give it a try.

FAQ:
1. Will it work on my device? A: The tool is only intended to be used on Qualcomm devices, it won't work on Exynos, Mediatek, etc...
2. My device has a Qualcomm processor, can I unlock additional bands? A: In theory yes, but the hardware matters the most. This tool is just to unlock the software side.
3. I have unlocked band 20, why doesn't it work/connect to a network? A: As stated above, this depends upon the phone's hardware and antennas. Nobody can guarantee that if you'll unlock a specific band, then the modem will connect and operate on that band. The phone needs to have all the necessary hardware in order to operate properly but to only be limited on the software side - this is why we use this tool
4. What phones have been reported working until now? A: Why don't you give it a try and write down your feedback here?!

On the Chinese rom the options are "USA Band" and "Band 6". Selecting any of these will break the preferred bands in Le Max2 resulting in loss of network in Europe or somewhere else.

You are right, on Indian 15s firmware, there is nothing to select under Select Radio Bands in testing menu.
Any way to check the LTE-A/4G+ support with this method?

Generally shouldn't be any visible changes in there. The change you will see if you will have a network working on a different frequency than it was phone's default. Also DFS will show at next connection what bands are enabled.

Okay, i didn't think it, you can select Automatic without problem and the band will return.
I don't know why, but in this ROM the selection band have change. Not have more Euro band and in his place are Japan and two others, but the Automatic and USA are there, no problem

This link is CM13 modified by TeamMSpain [RR] ResuRRectioN RemiX LeMax2 x820 RevolutioN_Team (the name of the ROM: RR TeaMSpaiN RevolutioN FINAL) and is good ROM, but have problem with recent button, not have RemoteControl and CallRecorder app, but you can record manually when you call and the recorder you can find in FileManager. After installation you can type in dialer *#*#4636#*#*. Click Phone Info and after in dot menu click the select radio band. There are the bands what's your needed. But the Automatic is for all us LeMax2. Don't forget to Backup the ROM where you are now.

It's possible that you might not get any signal although I'm not sure about Canadian networks if they have anything in common with USA ones. In Europe won't work, this is for sure.
You can try selecting USA Band in the dialer. To restore you have to follow the procedure in the op.

I added the bands for Japan that I need (especially 800mhz for 3G in rural/mountain areas, and a couple of the lower frequency LTE bands my carrier uses). Although the Qualcomm tool on the computer reports them added, and I am given the option to select Japan bands on the phone, they don't seem to make any difference to my reception - they should improve reception in mountains and inside concrete buildings, but they don't whatsoever. I see no change at all and am therefore sceptical if the modem hardware is actually capable of accessing these bands even if they are turned on in the firmware.
Is there any harm in enabling every single bands? I know most of them won't work but there is no way to really tell which ones will work and which ones won't. And as long as there is no harm in enabling them all I might as well try it. Has anybody tried enabling them all?

This is why it's written in the op that the phone maybe does not have the hardware capabilities. This is like the first confirmation that it does not work, although we should see if more people claim it not functional.

I have enabled all the WCDMA bands and there is no problem with my unit. I can't guarantee for yours, but I don't believe that will happen something.

It has LTE bands for Sprint, but I do not know if the Sprint store can add it to its whitelist and let it work.

I have an LG V20 H910. Unlocked. No root. And he works only with 2g (edge). 3g, 4g isn't working. But in specs, he have bands what I need.

I have tap on this two times on final chose GSM/WCDMA/LTE. On the top appeared 4g icon. The speed was about 4 mb/s. But it was one time, when reboot the phone all dissapears and I cant repeat my experience again.

It might be locked in the ROM. If you are up to rooting, you can put a custom ROM on it and there is a high chance it would work.
Same situation here. Tried all custom roms i could find with the same result: kernel crash at boot menu
