It's just OK, not one of the dimmest screens I've seen. My Oneplus 3 goes REALLY dim, to the point I sometimes have to turn it slightly higher so I can see the content. My Z3 was not very dim at all. I had to use those filter apps to be able to use it in bed. The XZ1C is right in between the OP3 and Z3. It's dim enough not to bother me too much, but I wouldn't mind having a dimmer screen.
The auto brightness function is too aggressive I think, even a slight tilt of the phone towards me the phone quickly dims the screen as if I'm in a dark room

I haven't noticed any problem. It may be slightly brighter than Nexus 6P was at darkest setting, but that display is always dim and totally worthless in bright sun.
For att total darkness I would still prefer to combine with some kind of blue filter, like Twillight

I find (this being my first oled) that it should be able to go darker. Maybe it would mess with pixel response times but nonetheless my opinion.
You can always use a Screen Filter app that will allow you to go as dim as you want.
I found it quite a bit brighter than my s5 I've had before this one stays relativly bright.

The minimal brightness is quite bright. It indirectly forced you to sleep earlier because it's too bright in the dark.
Agreed! I have resorted to using a dimmer app. Not perfect, but it makes reading in bed possible again.

The minimum brightness is better than any other phone I have & had.
The bad thing is that the brightness slider does not feel linear.
It's like the brighter half of the settings takes about 80% of the slider.
Which makes getting the right brightness in the darker half of the spectrum very fiddly and annoying.
I really hope they can tweak that...

Back "Bat logo" light is significant in very dark environment, can be disabled in menu. There is no RGB light - it is white with on/off option.
