Possible bloatware/malware

Hey guys, I have very limited time and internet access this week, but I wanted to give a heads up in case any of you receive a phone with 'extra' software on board.
I've just received my 32GB Prime and there have been issues right away. Although it has a 'stable' international ROM on board, it repeatedly hung in the first thirty minutes and I was repeatedly prompted to use apps like DU Speed Booster and another memory cleaner app to 'fix' the problem. These don't look like part of MIUI to me, but they can't be uninstalled, so somebody has clearly cooked them into the ROM. This reeks of phishing malware to me so I'm going to download the latest official stable ROM and flash that as soon as I have time.
If I'm wrong, please let me know and I'll update or delete this. If not, please check your phone carefully before entering any of your data or account info.

Same issue here. However, I have been trying to download the stock ROM from the miui website for a full day. Cant seem to get it to dowanload past 50MB. If you figure this out please let me know.

Lol, same problem here. I've given up for now. I Googled earlier on and it would appear that MIUI servers are absolutely rammed because so many people are trying to download.

That is a relief. I thought it was just me all day. I ordered mine and it was already setup when I opened the box. I did a factory reset, but it didnt get rid of those apps or issues. I am also assuming that Xiaomi doesnt include that bloatware on purpose.
Also, now everytime I browse to a new link in Chrome it rerouts me to some spam ad page. I need to get this fixed ASAP.

Did yours come with MIUI 7? Mine came with MIUI 6 installed.

Download and flash developer MIUI 7 version. Use a download manager like IDM. The ROM that the sellers put on the RN2 is not optimized and causes issues for everyone who got it that way (sources: XDA and another non-English forum).

It's a bit confusing. According to this post only these models are supported: Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Mi 4i, Mi 3, Mi 4, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G.

Mine had MIUI 6. Now I've put the latest stable MIUI 6 on which lacks Play store/Google services and only has English and Chinese language options.

Most bloatware isn't in it, then flash gapps-5.0.x-20150404-minimal-edition-signed.zip (can't remember where I got it)
not had a Chinese popup for a while and everything seems stable, this should do me till an international rom appears

I have the heating and lagging issue after root, sometimes even the phone call need to wait about 1 or 2 secs to see the caller ID.
The MIUI website unable to download, too many people try to download maybe, so I google and find a Chinese guy share what his experience with this version and provided a link to download ROM on Mobile - 1
I flash it with xiaomi updater, and I can see the difference right away.
The CPU won't be so hot (before even high to 72), and all apps respond much faster than before and more smooth.
Suggest everyone who has Redmi Note 2 should try it.

I have actually noticed my phone is a bit slower than when I first got it, was it the root that I managed to achieve a few days ago causing this?

what I noticed is that the apps are more smooth and fast respond

and Yes, I have those issue after root, and don't worry about your root
after flash, still have root access if you dirty flash
BTW, the new rom can get root permission in security

Hi guys, I've just received my Xioami Redmi note 2 prime and have the same problem! Avast antivirus finds malware installed. The problem app is called Fun Weather funweater.apk. Avast says it is Androidropper-BT(PUP)and Android.Troj.ya_funsms.gf. Factory reset doesn't solve the problem. Uninstall also. It is integrated into the firmware. I have read in one article that if it is into the firmware I am screwed up and this cannot be cleaned. Should I try to return the phone back and get my money back? Is it sure that installing new rom will clean up my phone from the malware? One is for sure I am totally done with Chinese stuff. Xiaomi, Aliexpress and everything Chinese will be totally avoided from now. I am so frustrated! I don't know what to do. If I return it I have to pay shipping costs. I feel totally screwed up.

Putting a new rom is a little bit difficult for me, but even if I do it, is there slightly probability the malware to stay in the new rom too? If so, may be it is better to return it. The article I've read about malware says "contact your vendor for replacement or refund" Does it mean that if the seller infected the phone, it is unrepairable? If a new rom guarantee a clean phone, maybe I should try because the phone itself is not bad. But I will never feel comfortable using it having doubts about security.

Wiping it should remove any conventional malware - you will be wiping it in order to install a clean ROM anyway. Installing a clean ROM is not difficult at all, though I can understand it might look like it the first time you attempt to do it. You could use this tool to flash TWRP, then you just boot into it, wipe data/cache and flash the ROM .zip from the SD card.

There is a CM12.1 for RN2? AOSP != CM

Bloatware and malware are installed as system app.
You can remove it only installing another rom.

i got my redmi from ibuygou so there were no chinese shady apps, but i still wiped all data and installed xiaomi.eu rom, i think everyone shoud do at first, we never know what's inside the "stock" roms from chinese resellers.

It comes with Google Apps, SuperSU, Adblock, System app remover and a few other features preinstalled. It also offers OTA updates (one just arrived today). I have been testing it for a past few days and can wholeheartedly recommend it!

Note that installing Xposed framework from official thread will prevent GUI to start.

It is based on 5.6.014S release (I updated the original post). But it seems to me that it is more of a series rather than a one shot release. The guy has been maintaining it for multiple LeEco devices and providing updates for some time. Can't find much about it in English though.

Just note that you don't have to bother putting SuperSU/GApps on the phone and flashing it as they are integrated in the the ROM.

(it is by default in Chinese, but possible to change language to English)

Sooooooo. If I am on the latest official 14s Version and blocked everything with titanium Backup... And everything is fine with my rom... Why would I change to this? Is there Basic Apps included like calls, SMS, contacts,?

Like I said, it's a better starting point for those who are flashing new ROM. Otherwise it looks and works the same as official 14s. I really like the approach though. The modifications are very light and unobtrusive. You will just see some added menus in the settings, like Dolby Atmos support (not that I care for it). But it clearly gets some love from the author. You get OTA updates with a clear changelog and new features. Yesterday's update added multi-user support and fingerprint-based app unlocking and a spell checker. Probably it's mostly a matter of unlocking MM features that were disabled by LeEco. But it's great someone is tinkering with it!

On official i could install xposed and grafitybox, but on cuoco it comes an error after booting. System Interface error.

I flashed this ROM and it worked good. And the playstore force closure stopped. But there is a lot of languages but no Swedish language. Is that fixable? Is it possible to flash just the language?

It's the app that called "Updates" I think. But I got my Olas popped up in notification bar..

The "Update" app disappear after I got the third OTA, Is that the same problem to you? Maybe the "update" app only appear when there is a OTA?

On my phone it's where it was after V28 update. Pretty sure it's supposed to remain visible as it has a GUI in which you check and download updates manually.

Confirmed. Fortunately, someone released Xposed v79 compatible with this ROM. I tested on V28 and it seems to work.

ZUI 2.5.406 ROM for Zuk Edge

i'm planning to buy ZUK EDGE from Zuk Official Shop (http://www.zukmobile.cc/buy-zuk-mobile.html)
I'm just concerned about 2 things before my buying :
- Android 7.0 (for the multiwindow mode mainly)
- Multilanguage ROM (French language mostly)
I asked (and a lot of people too did) on the questions page but the people who are answering are once saying "multilanguage is available" and sometimes "just english & chinese".
They updated the sheet recently and it seems clear that Android 7.0 is preinstalled. But which build? They are unclear about it.
I did some researchs on the internet and i found that the most recent and stable build of Android 7.0 for ZUK EDGE is : ZUI 2.5.406
It is apparently bringing every features of Android 7.0, the ability to show "on-screen buttons" (back, menu, app view), and even multilanguage...
Do you have a link to download this 2.5.406 ROM for ZUK EDGE ? Does someone already have it / tried it ?

For what I have seen so far, you'll have to choose between ZUI 2.5 or multi languages. The custom rom are built on 2.3.
Only official rom is 2.5 (my phone came with 2.3 but there was an update ready for 2.5).
I try the 2 Italian rom mention in other post, there is French.
The CM have French too. I'm back on official 2.5,camera is a bit better.

With the OTA,of the update app of zui.
But if you're already rooted, that won't work, you'll need to use the qualcomm tool QTFIL I think, i found the tuto on zuk fan europe I'll try post the link later.

when i open "system Update", it just crashes. my phone goes to first screen.
my phone is Not rootet and bootloader is lock.

From memory it is the official zuk rom, so locked bootloader might work.
fyi, to open the port for qfil i struggle a bit, and once open you need to start the download very very quicly, less than a second....good luck with that.

yes. the original Rom have a lot of chinese apps but u can uninstall them easily

I purchased mine directly from zukmobile.cc and it came with Android 6.0 and no updater app or update option in settings. I flashed the latest ZUI from my previous post using this process and it worked perfectly:

Official? I think so anyway, see my post on the previous page. It has English on it you just have to select it manually in settings.

No, I just downloaded QPST and watched the video on mute. You can see everything he's doing.

Ok so i got the phone and it has Android 7.0 out the box! All is good with that. But i have an issue with "ok google" it is greyed out. Anyone?

Also i am trying to use Flixter movie app and it saying location not set, when i am inputting a postal coder it says i should be more specific, and when i put in a city it states the same. Anyone?! Any help would be appreciated.

For Mediatek Devices it is pretty easy because if you manage to build a ROM for a device that has its software made by the same company who did the same software for another device (i hope this sentence is clear), then you can build a ROM for both devices with just some minor changes.

Yep.. Got that line clearly... But what to do when u don't have source codes for your perticuler device or similar device with same company and software ? U can't build.... Am i right?

I'll just reply here for the last time, it is OT, but still useful for development
When there is no kernel source code, i use the prebuilt kernel image (included with the Stock ROM), while everything else gets compiled (excluding proprietary files required to handle the hardware).

... the rom - download (mega) is it working with the 4gb version too? great job so far...

i bought phone from banggood came with offical outdated software, so i will never get update.the only rom with update is 20170621. the rom that we have here 6gb version,hope someone will provide rom 20170621 for 4gb version.

I'm also wondering about ROMs for the 4gb version of the phone? Have they updated that to the same level as the 6gb ROM? I thought the specs were identical apart from the extra 2gb of memory??

"Can you do" doesn't exist yet.
It is only the Stock ROM provided by DOOGEE directly, not something I made. You have to ask DOOGEE if you want other variants, then provide me the link.

Ah okay, i thought this was the pure stock Android Rom without Doogee "bloat".... Do you think there will be a lineage Version in future?

It's too early to discuss about source-built ROMs, this is a pretty new platform.

It does, I have flashed it on my own MIX.

How did you flash it with SP Flash Tools?
When i connect and try it says BROM ERROR: STATUS_BROM_CMD_SEND_DA_FAIL(0xC0060003)
What does it mean.
I installed drivers for MT67xx and latest SP Flash Tool
I have my phone turned off and when i connect (after clicking download in SP Flash Tool) it says the error.

Wanting to install another Rom

On my Pro 5 I am stuck on Flyme 6.3.0.0G and I am having an issue with a streaming app supplied by Dazn. No video appears; Dazn say this is because it needs a more up-to-date Android, but there is no official room available. I have been looking at the Resurrection Remix option but I am worried about bricking the device.
My principal worry is about (1) root and (2) the bootloader.
I obtained root long ago using the standard Meizu supplied system, but since then the option to unroot has disappeared. The phone is, effectively, rooted. How should I handle the business of the bootloader to get TWRP? Also, how can I backup my entire current official Rom in case something goes wrong.
Again, please excuse such a long post.

Latest release is 7.2.0.0

But the Chinese version which has its own problems unfortunately.
I used it know for a while but overall I think the latest global is still the better bet.

Sure, would like to use the android 7 rom.
Could you share how you installed the google apps and how did you get them running properly? I still have issues with account management and in genereal many google apps (maps, chrome) do not run well.
Also I have memory issues so that when writing e.g. the keyboard crashes and even chrome itself crashes regularly. My guess was some memory issue that leads to ending apps.

Very simple man. I've got NO ISSUES AT ALL, simply:
* full wipe ( Dalvik / Cache / Data / System ) with TWRP
* flashing with TWRP the Flyme 7 rom
* flashing with TWRP the Open Gapps, Pico Version, 64 Bit

I am on Flyme 6.3.0.0G. I can install the 7.2.0.0 ? Where can I find him ? Thank you

If your french, don't change ROOM.

Flyme 7.2.0.0 goes very badly.Back to 6.3.0.0G. What custom rom for Pro 5 do you use ?

I've rarely used my Meizu Pro 5 in these last months but I'm using 7.2.0.0 since January without problems.
In Italian, forced language of course :good: Only Settings remain in English.
