Hello.
I just bought the Samsung Galaxy S8 a month ago and I really love it. But there is this one error won't let me take screenshots, no matter in which app. I can't even take screenshots of my home- or lockscreen.
I get the following error message (in german) "Screenshot kann aufgrund einer Sicherheitsrichtlinie nicht aufgenommen werden" which is translated to "Unable to capture screenshot prevented by security policy".
What can I do?
Device info:
Model: SM-G950F
rooted: yes (Magisk v13.3)
EDIT:
Meanwhile I found out that it's not only the screenshots. It seems like a strange permission regarding any media is active. Few examples:
- I can't save a 9Gag post, it doesn't appear in the gallery and not even in the 9Gag folder when I check with ES File Explorer.
- Same goes for snapchat and Reddit. I try to save. Everythings alright, no error. Just doesn't show up in my Gallery.
EDIT2:
When I take pictures using the camera app, I have to select my SD card. When I try saving them to my internal storage, it just doesn't show up in my Gallery / Folder.
As this is my first post, please tell me if you need any further information.
Thanks in advance,
Julian

If you don't have any work related policy, then try to see if you have any credentials saved in settings. Go to settings>lock screen and security>other security settings> and see "clear credentials" If it is not grayed out, then you can try to clear, but if it is grayed out, then you don't have any credentials or policy set.

I don't use Greenify and also haven't disabled any apps. I just tried to reset app presets to re-enable disabled apps and reset the permissions of every app. Nothing changed.

Can you check your Device Administrators? This is what would enable a security policy to disable your Screen Shot abilities. You can search for Device Administrators in your device settings.

There are two device administrators registered:
- Find my phone (which is activated, but disabling it doesn't make a difference)
- Secure folder (which is disabled)

That's very strange then. Typically to enforce a "security policy" which would disable Screen Shots, you'd have to consent to a Device Administrator being loaded up. Often this is in the case of Corporate Work Email being put on a device. One of the available functions is the disabling of screenshots if the employer so chooses.

About the screenshot error, I guess you did already google for it? There are some suggestions, for example in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/help/screenshot-issues-t3208747/page1
are you sure you are not in secure folder ? because in secure folder and other knox related apps like samsung pass screenshots are not allowed

I am not, since my Phone is rooted and KNOX is triggered anyways.

nothing works here
What resolution is your phone set to? I get this error only when I change the phones resolution above the highest default. Right now i have my resolution at 8k, even at real 4k resolution gives me the same security policy error.
maybe you can try to reboot to safe mode to ensure that it's not a system problem? just press the power button to open power menu, tap and hold the power off, then it will show safe mode, tap it.
BTW you can't take screenshots of lock screen, i got the same prompt while doing this.
While viewing a Google chrome incognito mode page screenshots aren't allowed either.

Not sure this goes along with the rules on XDA and security in general. There is a reason you no longer have access to a device. We can't and should not take the risk and guess what that reason might be. At all times we should assume an unauthorized access attempt. Especially in this case. Reported (under reserve).

First, thanks to vn_mobile for sharing.
Second, here's a quicker way
Install Quick Shortcut by OTG as per the OP
Then search for "reset"
Select Settings, MasterClearActivity, Try
Reset Phone
Done!!
Great, I now can make a list of XDA members I know are morons. Let's hope they also have social media info in their profiles.

Maybe because this Exploit has been fixed and Google won`t let you bypass the FRP like that forever. It never worked on ALL devices.

Hey everyone! Quick question, I've read many times that "Package Disabler Pro" is the best app to disable all the bloatware.
But I have also read that if you disable all of them or use the "Disable all Bloatware" selection in the app, it causes issues with other apps and services such as samsung say and amongst others.
Can anyone help on this issue? Or is there a solution out there... saying which to disable and which not to?
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!
This is too complex question and next, some packages depends on another. E.g. you can disable ANT+ but you need it if you have a sport watch.
Generally, do not dollow colors in the application. I've found some ping packages which could be important (ANT+).
It depends on your needs/using habits, but there is some that can be disable almost always, yet still there is cases where you may need it.
Few examples:
- you can disable email application and its services since you can (and probably should unless something very specific) use Gmail instead of it (you can set up non-gmail account in Gmail app), so feel free to disable this.
-Google play movies/music/newstand/books - if you dont use these disable them.
-Galaxy apps and its services - i dont see point for this app, only uses are - for getting offers (so claim them before disabling) and galaxy care... any apps you can get on play store, so egt the offers from Galaxy apps and turn it ands its services off.
-Gear VR services - if you dont have Gear VR headset then there is no use for these services and if you get Gear VR afterwards you can just enable those services, its fast and easy.
-SHealth and its service - dont use it? feel free to disable it.
- i dont use Samsung account and its backup options (since you have same functions from google) so if you dont also, feel free to disable it and its related services.
and there is A LOT more, and it all depends on what you want/will use! BUT remember, its very simple and fast to enable them even if you disabled them, with no harm done.
Carefully Checked Before Disabling, but Galaxy S7 Keeps Rebooting
I have carefully checked everything I disabled before doing it, but now my Galaxy S7 keeps rebooting, although not always with the same results. The fact that there's no information about numerous items preloaded on this phone is totally unhelpful!
How does this app work, since it doesn't require root? And is there any chance it will trip the Knox counter on an unrooted phone? I'm very interested in it, but I don't want to lose my tap and pay or my warranty (yet).
I have posted here my extensive list of disabled packages, with no ill effects that I know of:

com.sec.android.widgetapp.samsungapps (maybe Always on Display items are in Widget ? maybe, just I guess)

com.sec.factory
com.samsung.android.firmware.tsp
com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager (maybe about watch)
com.samsung.android.sm
and I see you disabled too many useful app like "Wallpaper Cropper, Galaxy Finder". Why you disable these ?
Just try it first what I wrote and check again for Always On Display

Yeah, I see on my Sony Xperia phone that has a custom ROM that there's an option on lockscreen and security that allows you to choose how long does it take for the phone to lock, not sleep but lock, in seconds, like "5 seconds after screen turns off" or "immediately after screen turns off" etc.....on my S7 it just takes forever and I can't find a similar option, sometimes I turn off the screen and after a few minutes I turn it on and it still has locked, sometimes it does it immediately, could there be a workaround ?

This thread right here is a PERFECT example of why not to use package disablers. You break more things than you solve.
I sideload a lot of apps, and an annoying kwirk that I've found is that unknown sources does not stay enabled permanently. Everytime I attempt to install an app from unknown sources, I have to hop into settings and recheck unknown sources.

I think it's a definitely a big, because there is an option to uncheck "for this install only", however even if you do, it still reverts it back. So definitely a bug.
Yes it's annoying... But today when I try to sideload a app.. It prompt to enable unknown sources and takes to settings menu, here don't check the box rather click the Unknown sources it will prompt you a usual warning and below warning there is a check box as 'allow this instalation only' un check it and click ok...
It will stay forever
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Actually, it seems to stay for a set period of time, possibly until the phone is locked, or about 10 minutes, not 100% sure, but I sideloaded about 40 humblebundle apps over the course of 2 hours yesterday, and that dialog came back between every sideloading session. I could do several at a time, but when i locked, and went off to do other things, returning to sideload more would result in the same dialog again. Checking the box made the dialog appear every time i tried to sideload. This doesn't appear to be a bug, it appears to be a security feature that has no option for removal.
I've got a bunch of packages frozen with Package Disabler Pro and my unknown sources is sticking. Verizon, US model.
I pulled the XML file in that thread and it freezes all kinds of Sammy bloat, including Knox, so one or a combination is flipping that back.
I'm taking updates as they come.

Noticed some settings in developer options not sticking either. Just took latest VZW update so maybe that'll fix it!
Try to uninstall Samsung Pay and the framework. I did it on my S7 Edge and it fixes this problem.
Hence, I opt not to use S.Pay.
Normally I'd have this issue fixed per the typical ways to fix but as of yesterday I cannot change any permissions nor can I access my camera or video files. Before you go into the rant of going into settings and disabling any apps that use screen overlay I have done that to every single app and system app as well as disabled the accessibility options....I still get the message. Any clues that might be helpful? I have Build MRA58k version BLU_R0011UU_v21_GENERIC 05-05-2017 short of doing a twerp recovery to an old image I don't know what to do.

I am trying to change my permissions so that I can use my phone for recording videos but it refuses to let me view any of my files in my gallery. It doesn't matter if I go through the app or if try to view it through a file viewer such as file manager, nothing will let me access them. In fact I can not change permissions for any app, can't change what can and cannot access my storage, can not change what accesses my phone, nothing can be changed. It's not just those apps, every app I try to change permissions for has the same message. As I stated before I have disabled ALL draw over other apps, System as well as normal but the message still pops up even after a reboot........It all started 3 days ago, I didn't install anything new and as far as my security programs show, I have not been infected with a virus or malwear....
Just an update... 9 days and still not fixed... I have had to install different programs for some of my functionality back however I still cannot change any permissions... Some apps will allow me to tap outside of the notification and still use them however some things I still cannot do such as view recently recorded vids or recently taken pictures. Still hoping someone can find a fix for this issue.
My phone has been acting really weird for a few months now and I can't figure it out. Is there a way to find all apps on the phone user installed, system, and hidden?? Like WTF. Theres other weird things but that's just the most recent 1. And it's got me very concerned. Pls help!!
Your probably have a setting on in Accessibility like visibility enhancements or screen reader, you'll need to turn it off.
For list of apps you can view them in Settings > Apps ( Tap the 3 dots on the top right and tap "Show system apps" )

That's what I thought at first so I went threw my accessibility settings and they r all off. He hasn't been back so far that I have noticed. I know there r some spyware and malware that u can hide from being seen or make it look like some random app. Is there a way to use like adb or android studio to scan it for something that shouldn't be there.

I'm not sure too much about malware, I do know that Samsung has their own "Security Features" in Settings > Device Care > Security if you want to scan your device, also try Play Protect.
Seeing that the Accessibility issues are out of the way, what other problems are you experiencing ?

I saw the guy again but this time I kinda got to look at the running services and I found this. Could that have something to do with it?? As u can kinda tell, once I forced stopped that cloud messaging service the time changed on it and went under the dual messenger service. But as I was saying beforehand, google play services always had a pop up saying using headphones in the background. But my data doubled in the last 2-3 months, things I download will just disappear and pictures (like my phone will restore itself a few days but not my messages or calls), my phone also keeps adding a new camera gallery like it's not connected anymore and is a new camera same with the screenshot folder. So Cloud Messaging's time would change because after you stopped the process it restarted itself. But the other things make it look like your phone is being haunted

You sure do have alot of apps. I'm not from your country so I'm not 100% of what all your apps do.
But these are the apps that look suspicious to me :
AnyMusic
Device Info (Multiple Apps)
Downloader
I-Say
InboxDollars
Lucky Dice,Money,Pusher
Match to Win
McAfee Security
Mobile Performance Meter
Movie Hunt
MP3 Music Download
Music Downloader
Numerology
Phone INFO
Phone Reveal
QuickShortcutMaker
S'more
Scam Sheild
Shortcut Master (Lite)
Step Younger+
TextNow
Torrent Movies
Tubi
If I were you, I'd get rid of them.
If this doesn't fix your issues. I recommend you reset the device and do not install apps like this.

The one on the left is your recovery. The one on the right is Download Mode (Used to reinstall firmware via PC)

Sorry. I see it now. I'm not sure why that is. I have never seen that before in my life, it's very weird.
I recommend you backup your files and reinstall the firmware.
Thank u so much for u help but I think I'm actually gonna root this phone and get rid of some of these odd apps and that work profile that I have no idea how to get into. Now to just find and download everything I need to do just that. Lol
