SM-S327VL root support - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

Hello! I recently upgraded my device from the LG Treasure to the Samsung Luna pro, mostly hoping it would be easier to root (as Samsung's characteristically are).
However, I was highly disappointed when none of the tried and true one click methods worked.
I am hoping someone takes a little time to find a way to root this excellent budget phone, I would be very appreciative!

i'd like to see this as well,
had to recently replace my LG Leon (MS345) as the Blacklight on the screen just went on me (was working fine one moment next after charging it hardly wants to turn on!) and after looking at within price range of phones available for TracFone (or in case, Compatable/rebrand-able to TF) i settled on this phone after seeing it had much nicer screen Ram, Storage and overall specs compared to what i had, shoulda... done my research on if rootable or not. could of gotten the J3 Emerge at a discount but at the effect i fi moved in w/ friends anytime soon i wouldn't be able to move the phone to their plan w/ how boost mobile wont go near a modified phone.
cant complain Spec Wise atleast, a lot of games i wanted to try on the lg that i couldn't i can w/ this phone. (the fact it works w/ Google cardboard is more than fine )
(edit: unless your passing directly to current last page, here is the post where we've managed to obtain 2 builds of this phone's Stock Rom
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73784100&postcount=40
one that is known to be common on currently sold ones under common carriers like tracfone, straight talk wireless, total wireless etc. the second one is one that is a bit unknown or atleast not reported by a user to be on a device in the Wild.Pretty much any Carrier branding of this phone is basically Owned by Tracfone or is soon-to buy em out but outside direct tracfone branded ones you have to call after getting it home and charged for use w/ your tracfone services and i suppose this is true for the other carriers as well!)

I'm also looking for information on this. My Nexus 6 finally crapped the bed and I needed to buy a cheap replacement. However, after being so used to AOSP devices, and the power you have with them, I feel so limited with this phone. It's fairly powerful, but I find myself needing to do things, that I used to do with my N6, that I can't do without rooting this phone, such as tethering.

Yes.. Root support for SM-S327VL would be very appreciated. In fact, I see somone enjoying a lovely five star dinner in their future if they were able to make that possible.

Looks like another TF phone that gets no attention to rooting. The only phone I could root from TF was LG Optimus Fuel and that is just not the phone I want to use as it is so dated. Rather have updated phone as this Luna Pro to root. Too bad no one cares enough to get this one rooted or help us with getting it rooted.

It looks like when I get my vacation this year, if I'm able to take it, I'll sit down and work on rooting the phone. Wish I didn't have to, I'm not as skilled a programmer as I once was. But since it looks as though I'm stuck with this device...

That would make my year!

SRSroot claims to have a root solution for the Luna pro but it's for the older build, I know Samsung rolled out an update last week or so but here's the link if you want to check up on it. [I don't know how true it is, but I will test on my device when I get a chance]

Just follow the link to their website. SRSroot is a free tool.

i have the same build or (if samsung didnt ninja it and faked build #) and it didnt work in it testing the root exploit, it just kernel panics the phone causing a reboot (likely SELinux/Knox at fault here.) and i "Have" if anythinsg correct teh feb 2017 Security patch. (so if "root8" relies on the KNOXOut PoC, then thats been patched and this wont work.

yep, went ahead and tested it today, heres the log from srsroot

There is a website that has the stock firmware files for sale, which i am willing to purchase and donate if it will result in a possible root solution. Any takers?

If you get a stock rim you can patch the boot.img with majisk manager and root through that. Only problem is no on has obtained the stock rom.

If someone can upload a stock image I'll patch the boot.img with majisk and upload it here with permission from magisk developers of course, and only if I can confirm it works, no donations needed of course. we should all help each other
Magisk 14.0 released no need to patch boot.img yourself, magisk will do it for you, thanks to topjohnwu

gsm firmware has current firmware

I'm also very interested in this. It is a good solid phone for the price, and I've been very happy with it.. Just want to root

odd its trying a different Root exploit for you than i was getting. looks like what it chose as 4 Works somewhat but is likely getting thwarted by KNOX. What Security patch version is your's at the Jan or Feb one?

I have the July 1st patch also my kernel seems to be updated as well

Looks like uncaring Developers that just do not want to bother. Did you know that the Emerge is just the same phone but different network and name. Look up the specs for both. Exact same phone, with looks and specs. Both phones have locked bootloader but the Emerge on this site gets the root. Something fishy here. They both even have Marshmallow 6.0.1, and people are making excuses that the OS is too new. Hmmm, and I also noticed that there are Nougat phones getting rooted. So why all the excuses? Oh well, I still think even if it is a while down the road, but I am going to buy unlocked from now on. Screw the network phones!

It's nothing to do with uncaring devs. It's down to if there is any point.
Bootloader locked devices are difficult to work with.
The J3 emerge aka J327P does not have a locked bootloader.

Can't delete posts or threads. No way to get phone rooted. This phone as for Tracfone best for phone the price on their website without doing the easypay for higher end devices. I mean a J3 even if variation is a medium end device. Not low end like all 8gb devices. Many J3 phones are getting rooted. There are even ones with locked bootloader getting rooted. So the best thing for me to do, and even if or when my brother claimed he was going to give me his Galaxy S6. I think I will just plainly stop coming to the forums here.
Why you ask or if you ask? Just because first impressions of this site is not good. Whoopi Big Doo, that others get the root, and if Galaxy S6 gets it. The point here is actually making an effort to root. It looks like exactly the same kind of excuse I would get for the cars I own, and I take it to a place to get, lets say, either catalytic converter or carburetor fixed, and they say they will not bother or touch it. I do not think it is the device or the car. I think somehow, these people just do not like me at all.
Not trying to sound like a cry baby, oh BOO HOO! Just the fact and very noticeable that they don't want to bother or make the effort for some apparent reason for people like me. I think just excuses to me. Keep your ego and uncaring things to yourselves and I will just stay away from here.

j327P (Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge) TWRP/ROOT METHOD??

Hey there i have question about the j327P (Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge) that i bought yesterday, I've been searching for a official TWRP & ROOT thread for this phone and had no luck. But i ended up doing my own research and gained a little more information about the phone, it is running a Snapdragon 425 (CPU) and it's also running an Adreno 308 (GPU) along with Marshmallow 6.0.1 (OS).
I later did more research about what phone has the exact same specs as the j327P and if the other phone has a ROOT method along with TWRP. It ended up being an Xiaomi Redmi 4a having a Snapdragon 425 (CPU) an Adreno 308 (GPU) & Marshmallow 6.0.1 (OS). It also has a TWRP & ROOT (SuperSU) method and wondered if i could use those files for the j327P.
And yes i’m aware that the TWRP has to be a tar file so it can be able to put on odin. But i'm wondering if these files can be used to root the j327P?
Lets Find Out

Samsung Galaxy J7 Neo(SM-J701MZDNZTO) TWRP

Ok, i bought this phone recently and i just realized that is a new smartphone from Samsung..i searched everywhere but seems that there is no TWRP or ROOT for this model SM-J701MZDNZTO... will there ever be one? There is a bunch of good apps that doesnt work without root that i miss from my previous smartphone.....
Thanks
I tried to install the J701F TWRP for a while it work but was unstable...ended up having to reflesh to original stock rom... it sucks having a android phone that doesnt have root ...
Same problem u.u
Any prediction to access the root of the galaxy j7 neo?
Im waiting for it too!
Did you find any solution? To root j701m
anyone found anything?
Something to try?
Don't know guys, for sure this device doesn't have a custom ROM ...Yet! I hope but if you have an unlocked bootloader(and if you don't, as I did, there's still hope) it can still be rooted, I used this method here to root:
https://unofficialtwrp.com/root-twrp-galaxy-j7-neo-sm-j701m/
I used it on my device (SM-J701M) and it worked, the TWRP version is unofficial (It's supposed to be compatible with J7 core, J7 neo & J7 nxt models) and a bit buggy but it's better than nothing, and you'll get root, so if it helps kudos to you all.
A word of caution: make a backup, it's pretty easy with SmartSwitch
For those who may have a locked bootloader after the Oreo update as I did, you can reinstall/flash your firmware from SamMobile (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-j7-neo/firmware/#SM-J701M), using Odin, in most cases, the security patch is not upgraded yet and the firmware version still has the option to unlock bootloader in Developer Options.
You will have to create an account, and you must be specific with your device's carrier, take a note of your baseband version as that will give you an idea of the firmware you will download. I've also successfully upgraded to Pie. Hope this helps, Good Luck.

Request for sampwn32 for the sm-j727t/t1 and the eng system img build (aqd1)

Root for the J7 Prime in stores in march 2018! We only need one more file to get our device rooted according to the thread below! Someone let me know if they get it rooted using sampwn32 please! I will be buying a new device If this can't be done. Administrator I like using the command prompt.
Root for the galaxy j7 prime j727t is within reach!
I got the eng boot file to read custom firmware without tripping Knox.
Flashed root file using Samsung tool as well. Now we have a root method for the j3 prime j327t (this phone's twin in my opinion). See link at the bottom. Perhaps I could get the platform tarball compiled and flashed from Samsung open-source for once i would prefer having root before attempting.
Different processors. We need the eng system image of our device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j3-2017/how-to/root-sampwned32-samsung-j3-prime-sm-t3761497
We were told this wasn't possible, now what's necessary to get this rolling? Let's make some use out of this stubborn. Honestly requesting the system eng image which looks like is about all we need to start customizing. I'm gonna call customer service and straight up ask for it if no one replies.

Root file (which can also be successfully flashed with Samsung tool)

Any TWRP / Root solutions for Galaxy J7 Neo SM-J701M?

The bootloader is unlocked and I have booted into a couple of versions of twrp but they're all really unstable and they end up causing my phone to boot loop when I try to flash something/reboot. Has anyone else had any luck with this phone?

Samsung Note 4 Sprint Android 6.0.1 no return 5.0

Hello....!
I am sorry for my bad English skills
I am using Samsung Note 4 Sprint Android 6.0.1.
It's very bad and doesn't have a fingerprint. I need to go back to an earlier version.
I've used "Odin" and "Z3X SamsungTool, COMBINATION". All failed.
I downloaded Firmware at website sammobile.com.
Please Help me...!
If you were on the n910PVP5DQ15 firmware then the sboot is fused5, binary 4 and can not be downgraded. That is most likely the reason you have a fail in Odin. The following links will provide further information and guidance. If you have questions ask then in this post, good luck

Well I hope you don't ruin it. lol The Note 4 is concerned by many as "the last develop friendly phone". The Last Spirit update (5DQ15) has made it not so friendly. Prior to loosing my phone, I was on Lollipop
4COK1 with the ultimate Note 5 hybrid (MORA) rom as my daily driver. I could flash back and forth form lollipop to Marshmallow and choose many different custom roms. However, I seldom used MM because I didnt like the layout of the OS. Hated the mock location that force an app and Google maps in Samsung settings (BIG TIME, Yea how moke is it if it connected to Google maps?). While on lollipop just set mock location and done. Being with installing TWRP followed by rebooting the phone. Then I rebooted back to TWRP and made a backup of all the partitions to external sd. Afterwards, I flash the custom rom. I was very pleased it had completely with xposed firmware and models. Although its really a great rom, I still missed my old customizations in 5.0 roms.
Reading threw the forums at that time provided very little to go by and the information posted by members seemed to conflict. Some said you you can on 6.0 rom and others saying the opposite. All the while lioking to purchase another n910p with a lower bootloader which lead me to visual prof of custom roms on 6.0 are compatible (maybe). I still needed to flash to be 100% sure. (screen shots in next post).
I also felt like you "Its an inexpensive device and Im going to take a risk".
