There's an annoyingly noticeable dark speck of dirt in the main camera (about two thirds right, one third down, in the pic below), and doesn't seems to be on the lens or lens protector (it's not blurred), so it's probably on the sensor itself, inside the camera.
Anyone knows if/how I can disassemble the camera to clean it? It's not that it's so expensive that I can't just replace it, but if I can avoid that, so much better.

To disassembly your phone watch this video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuougdHLCX0

Thanks, but I already know how to disassemble the phone; I had to, I needed to replace the whole exterior...
The camera module is a different thing; it's not meant to be disassembled in any way and maybe it has some lens focus calibration that could be lost if I mess with it.
OTOH, a new camera is just a few euros, and, interestingly, the p9 lite camera is exactly the same, physically, as the p8 lite's and even costs the same, but it seems it's a Sony, though I think I read somewhere there's p8 lite models that come with a Sony sensor, instead. And that's where it gets more interesting, as you can enable raw camera mode in the p9 lite https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...ide-enable-raw-capture-stock-camera-t3623530, and if this capability is related to the camera hw, and the Sony cam works in the p8 lite too, then, hypothetically, we could get raw pics in the p8 lite. And that would be very interesting.
So, does anyone know anything about any of the above? Or maybe I should just try it...
Edit: nvm, guess it was too good to be true; it's the p9 lite's front camera that's physically similar (but not exactly) to the p8 lite's rear camera, so discard that whole paragraph. Oh well...

P9 lite camera is using sony sensor same as you can find in honor 4C which is very similar to p8 lite

well....
i saw this in desire thread.........
someone did a comparison in photos with backcover(battery cover) on and without it.. it there was a noticeable difference
in camera clarity.......
it was much improved with back cover removed...
i thought it should have been improved but a negligible. but it was a great difference..
tried it with nexus also and i also found a big difference.
the glass of backcover and the space between the glass and the camera reduces the camera clarity...
i guess i should remove the glass....lol
Man! Thanks for this reminder!
I've been noticing lately that focusing and picture clarity was rather lacking lately on my N1...Then seeing this thread it reminded me that I needed to clean the back-cover protective glass!
Especially for me, since I carry my N1 around "naked" (no case, no sleeve, just the bare nekked phone), it's not just the phone's screen that gets the smudges!
I totally believe that removing the protective glass pieces would improve picture clarity...But I'm not so eager to do anything about it as I'm not so confident in the camera's protection without them.
agreed and more importantly is the difference is more visible on a pc rather than yr nexus screen
yup, my cover is fairly scratched up at this point. If I'm taking a picture, I'm pulling it. Just be sure to hold the battery in place.
Can you post some pics for reference? Can you also post a pic with a legit camera of your camera window?
I've been thinking this may be true, but I haven't done any testing yet.
agreed and more importantly this.
Thanks, i tried it and the quality is better
I was skeptical, but there actually is a noticeable difference in clarity.

I confirm it does have a slight effect on the contrast and sharpness. I took the pictures with a spit-clean camera cover and one without.

The first one is WITH THE COVER ON and the other one is with the cover taken OFF. Noticeable difference in contrast for sure.
I am running the latest version of both oxygen and Franco kernel and have 2 weird display issue.
Photos taken from the stock camera have a thin green line down the left side when viewed in the gallery, and....
When scrolling, there is a yellow line when you reach the top or bottom of the screen and some other gradient type lines.
I tried searching but couldn't find any similar issues.
Ideas?
Sent from my Huawei u8800 using XDA App
The yellow line is normal. Just a visual effect when scrolling to the end of a list. Most Gingerbread based roms do this.
The green lines in photos is strange. I have seen a couple of reports about this now. Which country did you buy the phone and is it branded IDEOS or Huawei on the back?

My green line. Notice that the colors are somewhat wrong as well.
*Edit : I'm on MIUI 109160 with 240911 franco.kernel
Drop the camera app to 3mp and it should be OK. I'm getting the error when 5mp is enabled and only in the MIUI camera app. Other apps are fine :s
in all 5 test shots, i got the green line along the left side of my photos..
im using Oxygen r2 release with unmodified kernel, and taking photos with Camera ZOOM FX..
Weird lines with cm7 27/9 & 28/9 with or without Franco kernel also.
Hope to find a solution with 5mp too.
Edit: if you zoom, no matter how much, the lines disappear even at 5mp

I'm using Note 4 Duos N9106W. Its camera is not perfect but ok.
Here the problem of my friends. Some of them face this problem with N910C model. How about you?

It is well known problem of Samsungs, starting from Galaxy S II if I remember correctly.
It is hardware issue, difficult to remove due to lens build.
I've been in Sonoma this week for a wedding. I've taken over 250 pictures in every possible lighting condition. I've been nothing but impressed with the camera. Really low light isn't great but it's better than other Samsung phones. Low light can still get you some impressive results.
Macro shots are impressive too.
I'm sorry you're having an issue but it's definitely not universal.
It is visible in plain scene mostly, maybe you can't see such effect. Conditions must be met ^^

I'll check the next time I find the need to shoot a white wall in a dimly lit room. I don't participate in threads that require replicating conditions I'll never or rarely face to create a problem. It's kind of a 'If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound'? thing. If I'm not in the forest I don't care.

Hi,
Is there anyone who saw image overflow of bright areas like this before?

Hey all!
So my sister has had get S5 for a while now, she likes the phone immensely. However she's pointed out an issue which I haven't come accross before. Over the last year and a bit, her camera quality has gotten awful. When she first got the phone, it was taking good quality, in focus pictures. Now, although they aren't blurry, they're somewhat not focused and grainy - as if she was taking a photo with the S1 for example.
See below photos for reference. If it's the lens that's dirty - I'll simply replace it. Not sure if it's firmware or not. I also found it incredibly difficult to focus whilst takin the first photo.
Thanks!
Photo take on the S5

To fix that, buy a new LCD.
Is looking at a full black screen in a dark room at high brightness something you do regularly OP?
Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
did you RMA'd it?
it looks like white color on the edge right?
i have it too because my phone has bent itself when he was in my back pocket :/
Every IPS device I have - two phones (one a P9 Lite), two tablets, one Dell monitor - has some degree of light bleed at the edges. It's the nature of IPS. As LadFromWales85 says, it's only really going to be a problem if you stare at a black image in a dark room... If you don't do that, it's going to be much less of an issue. Having said that, I did have a very cheap tablet that had awful light bleed at the bottom that was always visible, was like a gradient effect!
Really if you want to guarantee no light bleed, AMOLED is the way to go. But then you might start worrying about burn-in...
The bottom line is that no good will come of obsessing about things like this. Light bleed is normal with IPS and that photo is far from bad.
I have the same "problem" but is normal for the IPS panels.
Just enjoy your device
My device is HUAWEI P9 LITE VNS-L23
GOD BLESS YOU
