12 Hours For Full Charge - Mate 8 General

Hi all,
My phone takes 12 hours to get full fully charge, whether it's being charged while turned on or off, which means that it's not an app related issue.
The battery lasts for most of the day and does not seem to be completely depleted, even though i'm getting less battery time than when it was new.
It behaves the same with multiple chargers\cables combination that i tried, including the original ones.
Can that be a battery issue if the battery is still giving me a relatively ok (though nothing like when it was new) operation time?
Thank you

Thank you for your reply,
Iv'e tried to visually speculate the pins, they seem mostly ok, so battery it is?
I always thought that a faulty battery that takes excessive time to charge, will also give very little usage time, so you say it's not always the case?
Thanks

There other reasons could be faulty charger, wrong charger (500ma/1A model) , software on the phone draining battery when on charge (some apps can operate in different ways when on charge), check your power graph, the charge cycle should be a steep line up, anything else may be one of the above.

Yeah, that's why iv'e mentioned that i tried multiple chargers\cables (Including the original which is in very good shape), and while the phone is shut down and charging it behaves the same, so that takes software issue out of the equation.
I'm just curious to know if that is possible for a faulty battery to behave like that = very slow charging times, but still giving an acceptable usage time

Just replaced the battery to anew one....phone still behaving the same....
Assuming it is not a charger or a cable issue, the only suspect is the USB PCB board in my phone, isn't it?

Iv'e replace the battery, and also the USB circuit board, but no change in charging time!
I'm puzzled :S

I had the same problem for a long time.. still do.. asked a lot of people about the solution but finally I found one by chance.
Use a charger which is 4amp 5volt .. trust me.. it works.. if you can't find it anywhere, look for oppo service center . Buy the charger for oppo f1 plus..

So with this kind of charger, how long does it take to fully charge the phone?

Could it be Battery or WM6 problem?

Hey, I have bought myself a second-hand Universal and found it turn off at about 40% of battery. Could it be a software fault?

I'm pretty sure it's a battery issue. It has been reported numerous times, my Universal started turning off at ~35% battery after about one year, bought a new one, problem solved.

oh....
Maybe it is somehow recoverable?
I have no money for a new one... in my country they're quite expensive.
i have the same problem in wm5 and mw6
cycling the battery
You could try cycling the battery. Its probably LithiumION. You need to somehow drain it all the way down, then charge it up all the way a few times.
This should bring the battery back to full capacity. Only you can't do it on the phone cuz the phone shuts off at 40%.
That may or may not work. Typical life of a lithium Ion is only 2-3 years.
Ebay has really good deals on them for phones.
It is a battery issue.
Why don't you search a little.
There are some exact same threads already.
Buy a new battery!!!!
All well an good saying look at other threads and "buy a battery" but from my experience I am very sceptical about this issue. I have read many forums on other similar phones and it appears that the Exec seems to be the only model that seems to have this battery issue.
I cannot seriously believe that buying a new battery is the answer, there must be an underlying problem here which allways goes unanswered...!!!
I am now on my third battery, the last one lasted no more than four weeks when it started shutting down at around 75%, and this was a battery from the manufacturer...
My only other option now is to purchase a big blob of a thing which once fitted, will not allow my exec to sit in its cradle whilst on the move...
oh... these Universals seem quite problematic, but anyway I think i'll stay with one a little longer.
I think Universal needs too much power and this is why batteries, which loose some voltage after being drained, are so weak with it.
Some say that when they turn WiFi on, the battery faints at 80% I think it is caused because WiFi module takes even more power.
The problem is, Li-Ion batteries only last around 1000 dis-/charge-cycles. (see Wikipedia) and on WM6 I found no way to disable the charging while connected to my PC. (Okay, I didn't try another cable.) So every time you plug your device to your PC for some minutes, it's like charging your battery and it gets a bit weaker.
Also there's no memory-effect with Li-Ion-batteries so a full discharge followed by a full charge may not bring any results despite of an even worse capacity. You should only do this on the very first usage of the battery.
Wikipedia also says the capacity depends on the age of the battery. So if your dealer sells you a battery he has had in his shelf for 2 years, it won't have the capacity as a brand new one.
Read Wikipedia for more info on Li-Ion batteries. WM6 seems to consume some more power than WM5 and thus the battery shuts down a bit sooner than with WM5. It's really a battery issue.
If you could manage to charge the battery only when it is at around 10%, it will last longer than if you charge it every day or even on every PC connection.
Cheers,

AFAIK there is no problem to charge Li-Ion batteries every day even if it still has any level of charge exactly because there is no memory-effect.
from my experience - WM6 issue
reverted back to WM5 and now it happens at 20% rather than 40% previously with WM6.
try reverting back to WM5 to find if that is the same case for you as well.....

this ain't what HTC FAQ section says. That states the battery can be charged at any level withoyut any detriment to the battery life over a period of time.

[Q] Help, Please! Changing is soooooo long.

To full chagne the battery, need more than 10 hours. Tried different ROMs, Batteries, changers, cables. the same result.
It looks like a hardware issue...... but....
when I used a DC power supplier(5.2V, limit to 1A) and plug in the cable, it appears the DC current is 0.5A, and after 10 second, fall down to 0.1A. at least, in the first 10secend the hardware worked all right...
Do you use the original OEM charger ?
Have you tried a different charger ?
How old is your Note ? Have you tested a different battery too ?

I was quite surprised when I switched to the Note from the Dell Steak. My old phone would charge much quicker. The Note takes about six hours to fully charge I'd say. As a result I plug it in pretty much whenever I can.
- - Sent from my phone using technological wizardry
Yeah, Mine can take around 5+ hours too if im charging it from <5%
Bear in mind that it is a bigger than normal battery, 2500mah.
But if it is like you say, Taking 10+hours to charge, Id get it looked at, Maybe send it off for repair or something.

Isn't it bad to constantly charge your phone even when it still has battery?
I heard it reduces the battery's life span.
I dont believe it is, I often charge mine even when its got plenty of juice left.
It may reduce life span, But the battery will live longer than the time you will own the phone so i guess it dont matter
No one can help. feel bad.

From what I've read, it's what you're supposed to do with the current generation of batteries. But then there's so much crap floating about about batteries it gets hard to figure out what is reliable info.
And this is with the original charger? If it's not an official charger, there's a big chance the phone will draw only what's usually allowed across USB. Which isn't much... In fact, with USB, the power draw of GPS/screen on/games can make your phone discharge even with the charger on. So try the official charger, on AC power.
Same problem...
I have the same problem.
At the beginning, about 3 months ago, my SGN works fine, battery are charged to 100% in 2 hours maximum.
I'm buy the phone from a Samsung Store, all accessories are originals. Today I send my phone to the technical assistance and there's no problem with battery or the charger.
My problem stars about 3 weeks, with an alert about different voltages after a full charge, the problem was solved only removing the battery and waiting an hour. At the technical assistance, the answer was to charge the phone when it's shutdown.
I already try that, format the cache, rebuild the system, everything using the ICS LQ3 from Baltic.

paddyzou, the problem with the wrongs voltages, yes, my steps to solve this:
- Full discharge
- Shutdown of the phone
- Remove the battery for 1 hour
- Full charge with the phone hang out
The problem with the low charge I think that was okay, it's seen to be happen in random times, I just flash another LQ3(France) version of ICS yesterday and seems to be working fine.

This is correct, a chemical reaction takes place while the battery is discharging and is reversed when charging(changing). The chemistry of the battery changes how they hold energy. The Lithium ion batteries in our phones can be charged any time, they have no "memory" characteristics like previous rechargeable batteries (NiCd).
OP, it sounds like your charger is going. My stock HTC charger (2-3 years old) now only charges at about 40% the speed, which means the phone will discharge while its plugged in. I recommend grabbing one of those tiny square usb chargers (1A 5v, not 0.5A). I got one for like $6, as long as its 1A it will be quick.

Charging Issues

Okay.
So like 2 months back, all was very well, my OP2 charged in around 1.5-2 hours. I was using the official OnePlus Charger and OnePlus Type C cable. After like a week the Type C cable stopped charging so i bought a new Type C cable, which worked great and charged my fone quickly. At that time, I used to check the charging with the Ampere App, and it showed normally 1100 mah charging.
Gradually over time, the charging speed started to slow down and then it came to the point when my phone was charging in 4-5 hours. So i again changed the wire, but no use as its the same i.e slow charging. (Checked with Ampere it is constantly showing 500-600 mah)
Since the wire is new and the OnePlus adapter is charging my phone, i do not suspect that the OP charger is at fault.
I am currently on Resurrection Remix 7.8.2. ( But this is also happening when i flashed OOS)
Plus a meagre 2.5 hours Screen On Time and yester overnight it drained 44% in 6 hours.
I have no idea whats going on.
ANY SUGESSTIONS AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO?
Make sure you're using a good cable. Not some cheap knockoff.
Yeah. Dnt wry. The cable is of good quality and not a knockoff.. any other suggesstions?

Maybe its your battery then
It's all one plus work.
I can confirm this as well. Phone started taking excess charging times. Around 6 hours for 80%. This cannot be a battery issue. Battery degrades linearly. It's surely scam by the scum company one plus providing a time bomb style update to make old one plus 2 unusable. So many reports of op2 slow charging. Same issue reported in a previous post. He also mentioned that turning off phone and charging takes usual 1-2 hours time. Check if that's the case with you as well.

Battery readings are totally off!

Hi guys, I've got this phone passed down by my mum. It's an old Samsung Note 4 but it's still working fine except the battery readings are totally out.
When I mean totally out, it's like switching off when it hits 30%. Sometimes it keeps going on after it hits 0%. I tried keeping a battery pack on it but it'll just do the same thing.
Just like to know if it helps getting a new battery or is there anything I can do to 'reset' the battery?
Thanks folks!
When a Note 4 shuts off at 30% that usually means that the battery is toast. Get yourself a new Anker battery for $16.99.

Like previous stated, battery is most likely going bad. But I figured I give you an alternative to try first. It won't hurt.
Power off your phone and charge it to 100%
Turn it on.
In play store search for "Nema battery". The first result should be it. It's called "Battery Calibrater" and is by Nema.
Install it. And follow directions.
Most all battery apps are crap. But a few people told me this really does calibrate the phone.
Also take note of what amps capacity it says your battery has.
It maybe worth the try.
Thanks buddy, I'll give it a shot.

That's the voltage. When it's plugged in, it'll be close to 5v. Unplugged it'll be lower.

But unplugged it's showing 3995mv, I'm at 75%.

I think a different figure shows up when I charge it turned on or off. If I hit 100% charge, it'll show up with less than that when I try charging it turned off.
I'll try the app once I get to 100%. Is that 100% referring to the phone being turned on or off while charging?

I only suggested charging it off. Cause it's suppose to charge fully better that way I guess. You'll be able to tell when it's fully charged that way. Either way probably won't matter for your case. Yeah, you're right, last ditch effort to see if the battery works.
Another strange behavior is the speed of charging. I use the same charger with the same cable for this test. Funny thing is sometimes the battery takes ages to get to 50% from 0% but on good days, it gets from 0% to 50% in a snap.
Is this behavior of a faulty battery? Or am I dealing with a faulty circuit board? I'm on stock ROM so it's easier to troubleshoot.

Since the last release I decided to stick with Nova Prime and no Google Companion. Before I was on stock launcher and turned off shelf. Charged to 100% and over night battery drained to 99%.Right now I am at 77% with 2 hrs of screen time and been unplugged for 16 hrs.

I don't think so. It's happening on custom ROMs as well. For me it started from one day on another. Weird thing but I think that's the ACTUAL capacity of the battery. You'll actually never have 100% battery when unplugging from the charger after some longer charging. It just shows you that.

I noticed as well. I think its because of my extended use of fast charging as isn't good for the battery. But I thought that the heat was going to the charger and you should use the charger that comes in the box.
However, from extended use of my 6T and my previous phone the OnePlus 3. Dash charging affects the battery even though heat doesn't go to the phone, it affects the battery health. And you shouldn't use it especially if you want to keep the phone for 2+ years. I've been using my 6T since December and my battery health is around 70%?! I only been using dash charge as well for both of my 6T and OP3. The reason I upgraded was because of the degraded battery in my OP3. From this, I'm gonna send my 6T back to OnePlus for a battery replacement, so that I get a brand new battery and from now on I'm never gonna use dash charge and instead gonna use quick charge 2.0 chargers as I don't have a apple 5V charger. But this should still be better for long term, even if it is a form of fast charging. All Samsung phones since the S7 have been having this quick charge standard. Using fast chargers is convenient, but it is not good for long term and it is just another scummy way for companies to reduce the longevity of your device and make you buy a new one. Tbh Dash Charging or Warp Charging or any fast charging should only be used when you're in a rush and you're phone's battery is low

So i figured something interesting ...
The ideal capacity of oneplus 6t is 3700

So according to that accubattery is almost right ...

It did for me at least. Otherwise it's an app issue.
I only have the "issue" that battery goes from 100 to 96% fairly quick but I don't really care. Drain afterwards is normal and getting over 10hrs SOT easily anyway.

Yah 10+ some occasions ... So not a big deal .. and this rated capacity issue seems to be in all one plus devices .. so nothing to worry about ...i guess so

Same here. Battery quickly drains to 96% after unplugging from the charger. Takes half an hour max without using at all. After that normal drain.

Mine does this but I noticed that if I reboot my phone every morning before taking it off the charger, this issue goes away. So I'm guessing there is some sort of trickle charging happening once the batter reaches capacity. I also notice if I take the phone off the charger as soon as it hits 100%, battery does not drain to 96% quickly as well. Must be something with the way one plus software works with charging
