Battery life of Moto G5+.

Friends share what type of battery life you are experiencing ? How much SOT you are getting and how much time does it take to full charge the device ? Just wanted to check whether I'm getting the same or not.
Btw my device took around 1 hr 40 mins to charge from 14-100% with 4g data always On.

Took 70 minutes to reach 100 from 30. Currently up for 23 hours. SOT is 5 hours. 26% still remaining. Wi-Fi on whole time.

Well here's my experience
Full day usage in one charge
SOT over 7 hours and still at 28%
Played some casual games, poor signal reception sometimes due to lack of 3G networks in my area
Using only one sim
Listened to music for some time
I'm pretty much satisfied with the battery plus turbo charger is pretty fast too

First cycle

I charged my device from 8-100% in 1hrs45mins.
My device was at 66% after 1 hr and it took 15-20mins to charge from 90-100%.
And I am getting 4½hrs of SOT
And night fall was 3%(data off).
My device 4G data was always on with hotspot enabled. Please let me know if that is the reason I am getting a bit poor battery life.

Blame hotspot for this.

Guys mine is showing heavy usage by Android OS ,infact it's the top battery hogger ,I'm in a place where the network is sort of bad and the internet is really slow (based off an island ) at present ,any solution to reduce the usage

I have noticed that if you enable the hotspot you tend to drain your battery. With heavy usage i used to get 6hrs SOT but when hotspot enabled I used to get 4½hrs SOT.

Yes the main culprit is hotspot.

Believe me I don't think you'll regret bud. One of my friend(OP) getting around 5-6 hrs with some gaming.
Btw here is mine after first charge. I'm not a heavy user. Just surfing on net,Google+,Telegram some music random YouTube videos. But it looks like Moto has done some dope work on kernel. Obviously SD 625 needs some credits here.

Well I'm not using hotspot ! ,Just that my android OS keeps draining battery ,and I cant figure out why !

Disble Moto display
Moto display is useless on LCD display as it consumes more battery. I got only 4 to 5 hours on screen on time with Moto display enabled. Once I disabled the Moto Display functionality, I am getting 6 to 7 hours of SOT. I am using dual sim and always on 4G mobile data. I will attach the screenshot tomorrow.:good:

You are correct that it consumes battery but with enabled I was getting a better battery.
With heavy usage and 4g enabled 5-6hrs SOT but enabling hotspot 4-4½ hrs battery life

My battery hangs at a %age for an hour of SOT & starts dropping . Using NON Turbo right now as heat was exceeding 40℃ .
Even with turbo it did so . . . . It is anyway problematic ???

6.5 to 7 hours of sot with wifi and night and LTE during the day. Fantastic battery life. My LG g5 was dead after 2 hours sot

I've had this device for about a week. Every day battery stats are similar tothis: couldn't even get to 3h SOT if I let it drain completely.
Is the medium (yellow) network signal the cause of this? Is anyone getting this bad battery life?

You either have a seriously misbehaving app or something is really wrong. Over Saturday and Sunday I tried to kill the battery and couldn't. It was over 9 hours sot. I had to breakdown and charge it with work tomorrow in driving 1:30 each way to see clients.

I've reached seven hours of SoT even with playing games for six hours or so.
Could even go beyond nine hours without playing (to much).
You probably should let OP replace it.

on average I got over 5 to 6 hours SOT with medium to moderate and even with GPS.

I've got 5h SOT today with dual SIM installed and 4G data always on.

Bad Signal could lead to massive drain. How is you cellular signal? Im coming from and S7 and absolutely love the battery. Can't drain it during an normal day of usage while the S7 always needed a little charging in the evening

My signal is terrible (jumps between 2g 3g and 4g all day long) and would normally expect to get 3 to 4 hours SOT. The best I had was 5.5 hours SOT which was through streaming over 4g. I have this problem on all my devices so I guess it must be signal related.
So far today I'm down to 72% with only 30 minutes SOT! (Took it off charge 7 hours ago)

You could try to switch network mode to 3g only or 3g/2g. A bit disappointing regarding speed but would help. Which country do you live and which carrier?

Regarding the quality of the signal, the second attached picture shows it, it's mostly medium strength. I don't know if that's bad enough for this battery drain.
I will try switching the network mode (I'm from Spain with Orange) and factory resetting the phone before I ask for a replacement.
These days I've been trying the LG G6 because I really liked it and the prize dropped to 410€ (O+5 is 500€ here). However, I'm definitely choosing the Oneplus. Despite the price, design, water resistance and sd card slot being big wins for the G6; using the O+ is much nicer, because of the speed and fluidity and the software.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Asus Zenfone 5V before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

It goes OK for now. I guess I will use it for 2 more hours. AI boost off, gps off, wifi and cellular data on, Bluetooth off, auto brightness.

Wifi always on.

Is the battery life still good? And on that note, how good is the standby drain (asking here because no one seems to have posted on that topic).
I'm worried about battery life because I'm seriously thinking about getting this over the OP6, but there aren't many reviews out there.

After 12 June update, sot has decreased. Now I get about 6~7 hrs BUT my brother (he uses this phone too) still gets 8 hrs. I'm on 20 June update but there's 22 June update (I didn't understand why ASUS gave this update very early. Also it is 410MB but the others were about 200~300 MB so I'm hopeful about this update) So I can't talk about the latest update (I didn't update)
About standby drain: When I was on 1 June update, only 4% gone whole night (11pm~7am) but I can't say anything about the other updates.
I will test sot and standby drain when I update.
Oh btw I want to write today's sot:
Last full (and last) charge: 16hrs 45 mins ago
Sot: 6 hrs 46 mins
5% left
Edit: I didn't see that my battery is 4% on screenshot. I'm sorry
Edit 2: I updated and not changed much. I got 7h25min max (used till 2%). I still couldn't test standby drain but if you want to know something, I can share my latest battery stats. 5h4min sot 15h23min total (so about 10 hrs idle) and 29% left. I guess I will get 2 more hours sot. According to me standby drain is good enough.

Looks decent. Could've been better, but I guess it's because of that IPS screen. Wish the battery could've been a bit bigger than the standard Zenfone 5.

I'm getting around 5:30 hours (on a Zenfone 5, not 5z), how do you manage to get 7:25?

UPDATE:
6:25 of mostly youtube and chrome browsing, bluetooth is always on paired to my smartwatch, as well as wifi and 4G.
(Zenfone 5 SD636). Overall im happy with that, think i can squeeze even more, i have APKpure taking 5% for some unknown reason.

How about your cellular signal, brightness, gps, Bluetooth and firmware?
About cellular signal: Do you get less than 5? Less signal causes phone to use SO MUCH battery and heat.

Actually the other day i was doing 6:25 SOT, which I'm quite happy with. 4G and WIFI are on all the time, and my phone is constantly connected by BT to my Amazfit Bip watch.
location is also always on, and I'm on the latest firmware (.19).

I am deeply impressed by the battery life of this phone. In first recharge I got close to 7h 43 min SOT, later in second recharge it went up to 8'36". Both cycles took considerable usage of roaming, bluetooth on for at least 4-5 hours, some streaming over bluetooth, wifi was used partially maybe not more than a couple of hours, google maps was used and finally the second recharge includes live streaming WC Final Match too. Both SIMs were occupied with primary on VoLTE and always data on.
Brightness was kept on comfortable 30-40% level except for while watching match, when it was close to 55%.

That's very good. I am getting about 7 hrs SOT. I am losing 8-10% overnight with wifi and data off with single SIM on 4G. Any suggestions how to improve standby drain?

Learn how to use mobile manager.
There stop apps from auto starting.
Close apps from recents menu when you go to sleep.
WiFi/data off.
Check WiFi settings where it does not keep looking for signals.
My standby drain over 8 hours is 1%, sometimes barely touching 2...

Am getting 4+ Hrs SOt only...Device idle has more drain in my mobile ..can any1 help to get more SOT...

Check if your area has constantly signal fluctuation. I remember my friend constantly had signals switching between 3G & 4G on his 3T and his battery drain was worse, but only at his home. Otherwise it was good.
If signal strength is good, it might be something else.

Thanks. Last night I kept it in 2G after taking care of above steps and lost 3% in 7 hrs, which is reasonable. However, on 4G still losing around 7-8%. Not sure if AI is consuming battery.

Around 4.5 hour with 30 minutes of pubg and switching between social media apps
Hope it gets improved in pue update

Initially got 3h43m sot with dual sim in 4G. Switched it to 2G/3G mode and sot increased to 5h45. So guess it was the constant fluctuations from 4G to 3G that was causing the low sot. But the last update a few weeks back and my sot has dropped to 5h, no change in my daily usage. Still in 2G/3G mode. Don’t know why the loss in almost an hour of sot

As for me I think the phone can do better than what it's doing right now.

With light usage i get around 11 n half hours SOT.
With moderate usage it's around 10 to 11 hrs.
During extensive use i get from 8 to 10 hrs SOT
Pretty good. It will last throughout the day. No doubt.
On moderate or light use cases it will last more than that. You just have to charge on alternate days. Its the best thing i noticed about this phone, you don't have to carry a charger or search for a charger in the middle of a movie. :good:
With custom roms theoretically it should do better as we can opt out of all these google services constantly running in the background.

Check app usage and use greenify if needed

I had actually called Asus hotline and they asked me to 1.)Turnoff the Zenmotion in gestures.
2.) Use the phone in safe mode for 3-4 hrs
3.) And always charge the battery to 100% and drain it till 20-30% (or even less if possible) instead of charging intermittently.
Now I donno y they asked me to this...but im giving it a shot. Moreover I have also installed Greenify app as stated above & one point to be noted is that a lot of Youtube techies have mentioned that low network coverage in your area affects battery usage to almost 40-50%.
Now maybe that can be the reason too..but im not convinved for such low SOT coz people above who posted screen shots also show low network coverage.

Poor LTE network does drain the battery like anything. I get more battery drain at office because LTE network is poor. At home its good so battery drain is very less. What i do is switch to 3G instead of LTE. That helps a lot.

Poor SOT and battery life.

The battery seems like to be dying quite quickly on my op8pro? Been using it for 3 days and I'm getting around 4-5hours sot which is not enough for a full day for me. It also gets warm from time to time from light browsing Facebook if etc (42 degrees)I hope the phone will optimize it's performance soon and the battery improves?
My old p30pro is getting 6-7 sots easy and good enough for a full day without charge.
Is Huawei just too much of a battery beast for a phone with a 120hz screen to beat?

120hz is a big battery drain. What do you get with switching to 60hz?

Check your battery drain under Show full device usage. For me, it was "mobile network standby" that caused the drain, once I turned off 4G it all worked fine. Hoping for an update fix.

I am running mine on 120Hz FHD, and the results I get is that on any day I should be closing 7-8h SOT. (Haven't really tried because I don't use my phone that much) And this is at home with WiFi.

I have been using QHD. I guess that's what's causing the heavy usage.
Will try switching to fhd for a full day.

Mine is for sure the monitor lol

Me too, heading for 4 hours SOT at most, the only 'luxury' turned on is 120hz.
Screen is FHD+, Facebook uninstalled (I still have messenger but I need that)
NFC turned off
Uninstalled apps I don't need, removed location from everything I can
auto brightness. I have no idea how others are getting more than double my SOT
