Assistance Needed With Custom Theme

Hello,
Quick inquiry with regards to a minor complication when attempting to flash a custom theme to a Sony Xperia X10.
The device has been rooted successfully and is currently running Wolfbreaks CM 6.1.3 v053.
I have attempted to flash a custom theme titled "Galaxy S for CyanogenMod 6.1.1 Stable". Everything functions perfectly thus far. Other then the fact that upon reboot an error messages specifies that Gmail has ceased unexpectedly.
The exact message displayed is quoted as "The application Gmail (process com.google.android.gm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Although this message displays consistently upon each attempt to restart the program. Also automatically once the device initializes from a reboot or shutdown. The theme was flashed via xrecovery as custom zip. As per instructions "cmparts_ui.xml" was transferred to /sdcard/CMTheme and selected from the Tweaks menu.
(Thread referenced: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876600)
This problem did not occur originally when CM 6.1.3 was flashed. Would resolution be a matter of reflashing Cyanogenmod? or as simple as updating the application itself within the market? I can not locate any original files to flash back to the provided theme packaged with the most recent 6.1.3 mod and I can only surmise that doing so would resolve this issue.
Final note would be the process one would take to uninstall such custom themes. I've noticed deleting the .xml file from the sd card does remove it from the tweaks menu. However does this procedure ensure deletion of all associated files? Or is there a proper method to ensure complete removal is successfully accomplished?
Any feedback with respect to this particular theme including whether or not it would be necessarily recommended is much appreciated. This wouldn't be my first flash/root/modification or customization of a device. However this is my first Xperia X10. So I do want to make sure I am being as accurate as possible to avoid any future complications.
Thanks for everyones time and attention.
*Although on the plus side I'm able to transfer my contacts from a SIM card directly to the device with this current version of firmware. Such feature was greyed out in the menu initially
the theme probably has a custom gmail apk in it. which is either broken or incompatible with 6.1.3.
try opening wb's 6.1.3 with 7zip and pull the gmail.apk from that rom. copy it to your sd card, then use root explorer to copy it to /system/app. give it the correct permissions and reboot. problem should be fixed.
hello
thanks for your reply. your instructions sounded quite logical and i assumed id have no complications. i copied the app as per your instructions. overwrote the existing entry when prompted. however upon reboot gmail has been removed off the home screen.
attempting a manual install either within the system/app directory or through the sd card returns an unable to install error message.
ive gone ahead and downloaded the gmail app from the market. which thankfully does install. it is functioning and installs successfully to the device.
presumably anyone experiencing this same issue should download the app from the market very strange occurrence indeed.
my only other issue currently is the GPS functionality. switching on the gps displays no indicator within the toolbar. location based services seem not to pick up a location what so ever.
im hopeful this isnt a result of flashing this particular theme. any suggestions?
If you have flashed a framework etc for that theme (using xrec) it won't reverse if you delete that xml file in the sd card.
If you want to go back to original make a copy of that theme xrec and replace its apks with the apks from the ROMs xrec zip. Then flash it.
And if you want to use the theme and also the gmail apk look and feel (theme). Try replacing original gmail apks .png images, which are in drawable-hdpi etc. folders, with the themes gmail apk images.

after you copied to /system/app, did you change permissions?
the theme may not have a status_gps.png icon or, it's the same color as your status bar.
the app never requested a permission change. upon trying to start originally would just return error.
this was resolved by downloading directly from the market. my only issue now is what to do with the gps connectivity? as it does not seem to be returning a location. the only other thing ive noticed is the default camera app does not zoom.
im trying to assess whether any of this is a result of having changed the theme to the galaxy s cm 6.1 mentioned in the initial post, and how to go about fixing these issues to avoid having to flash back to the original cm6 stock theme.
** GPS has been fixed and is fully functional. Single issue remains with regards to camera not zooming what so ever. Although now attempting an upgrade to CM7. Thanks everyone

[Q] Cant install stock email apk

Hi everybody.
Im customizing my Note 3 N9005 rooted with the latest firmware I7.
I made a mistake using ROM Toolbox Pro and i stopped the service Exchange. That made my email application not function so i lost both services.
I made a backup of both before i touch anything but when i try to reinstall them with the same ROM Toolbox Pro, the program says it cant do it. Also with Roote Explorer into that application (very usefull with lots of options).
I also made a copy of all the APK into my Exsdcard and put the two APK with and without the ODEX files and nothing. In security i disable the setting that will allow to install them but nothing works. I even restart the phone with various settings and nothing changes.
So weird that original stocks APK cant be installed back.
Their name are SecEmail_Japk and SecExchange.apk. I reasure that i have both safely backed up but i cant install them again.
I tried K-9 but im acustom to this email apk. I also read something about flashing them but i dont even know how to do that (and make it worst).
Any help with this??
Thank you

Frustration over Fonts!

Hi everyone! I just rooted my Galaxy Note 3 4.3, MTE, using Kingo. Everything was going very nicely (and I admit the root was well done) until I downloaded an app from the Play Store that lets you download fonts for rooted phones. Now when I go into settings on my phone, then "display", and finally "font", I first get the message that the font list is loading, then "Unfortunately, settings has stopped running", and then it takes me all the way back to the main settings screen again. I've tried going through Root Explorer (it seems the fonts are all there, but when I click on one - BAM! - Root Explorer stops working too. It's almost like the font screens are booby trapped (to put it nicely) and it's frustrating the crap out of me. I tried a full system reset and that didn't work either. I need to get to my fonts! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks - Sparkie
Download rom toolbox they have a bunch of fonts..

Samsung Themes Like Batman Injustice and Olympic Edition Dont Stick After Reboot

I have the Sac Note7 Port V4 on my S7 edge . I have read a lot of threads , tried all the methods but these themes dont stick after reboot.
I have tried moving trial json file to userjson folder in data/overlays . this used to work in previous firmwares which had old security patch but now even after this i have to reapply these themes after reboot
i have tried renaming themecenter.apk and galaxythemes.apk in priv/app folders that also doesnt work.theme stays only till i reboot
I have tried titanium backup to freeze but themecenter.apk can neither be force stopped nor you can freeze it anymore.
I have ran out of all options. I really like these themes and only option left is to revert back to an old firmware with old security patch. for example phoenix rom v 1.0 and somewhat V2.0 these themes work fine after reboot
is there a way to roll back security patch by samsung or anyother way. any help will be appreciated
Well after countless reboots and things. i finally got it solved. Now the theme sticks at reboot. I have found the solution now the issue is resolved....
Mods : Please close the thread. thanks
Hi,
Can you please post the solution to the problem in case someone else needs it in the future? Also to request your thread to be closed, report your own thread with the reason "other" and tell them why your thread should be closed .
All the best,
~Lord
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge using XDA Labs
Ok sure , The issue was themes not sticking and were reverting to default theme
Well i didnt have to do this in lollipop days. in those days it used to be like this
1. Install the theme .
2. move data/overlays/trial Json to user Json folder
3. wipe data and cache both of themes 2.0.0.0 and themes center apks via titanium backup
3. Delete preference folder as well
5. Reboot
Since Marshmallow i had problems that themes installed manually didnt stick. well the problem was neither with security patches nor with any theme. There is a folder in overlays named resource-cache, which apparently stores cache of the applied theme.
If your are like me deleting and installing themes frequently. with following above mentioned procedure also delete all cached files as well when u install new themes and they dont stick on reboot
This will keep the themes working even after rebooting the device
ofcourse for all this u have to be rooted
About closing thread that was only asked by me as i asked this question and since it got resolved.
i dont mind if it stays open.

[Tutorial] How to install Google Play on H2OS 2.5 using OpenGapps

I was so happy that OP finally released H2OS 2.5, this one is probably the best ROM with custom UI, unlike MIUI or Flyme, it is still in Material Language. However, after a clean flash, I found it is not pre-installed entire google service and it doesn't work well with OpenGapps. Here is the tutorial.
Before I start, make sure you have installed a custom recovery like TWRP. If not, go to twrp.me and flash the recovery via fastboot. And BTW, plz forgive my poor English, if there are any mistakes, leave the comments blow, Thank you!
1. Install H2OS 2.5(I believe you already did this) and Root package.
2. After the setup, reboot to Recovery, choose Mount - System. then flash OpenGapps, in this step, I suggest you guys choose Nano version, mini version will replace the stock calendar with Google Calendar and other variants of Gapps will replace more stock apps.
3. Go to Advanced - File Manager, delete /system/priv-app/SetupWizard/setupwizard.apk
DO THIS NO MATTER YOU CAN ACCESS GOOGLE OR NOT, OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT ENTER LAUNCHER!
4. After the reboot, Install and Open Titanium Backup, Tap Backup/Restore and you will find several Google-related apps are frozen, tap those and defrost them.
5. Convert Google Contacts Sync into user-app, after that go to Settings - Apps - Google Contacts Sync - Permissions, grant the permission on read contacts.
6. Reboot and Enjoy, don't forget use a proxy if you are in China!
----------------------------
To enable Screen Search (Google Now on Tap), go to Settings - Buttons - Home Button, Long Press Action - Search Assistant.
If your phone still can't work somehow, try following steps.
1. Install and Open Nova Launcher, long press screen - Widgets - Activities. Then choose Settings - Assist & Voice input
2. Open this shortcut, tap Assist app and choose None, after that tap Assist app again and switch back to Google app.
OP made their own Default App selection interface, so you can't go to Settings - Apps - Gear Icon - Default apps to select correct search assistant. That's why we need Nova Launcher to open this interface.
Screen Search should work then.
I already installed it using the Google Installer APK, so this method is of no use to me, but I sincerely hope it benefits several others.
Wow, you really seem to know your way around H2OS.
Could you help me with a problem I've been facing? I installed Pixel Launcher, and there's a hideous blue portion of the wallpaper that I can't remove. I understand you need to switch to the OnePlus Launcher to modify the wallpaper, so I switched to the OnePlus Launcher, changed the wallpaper, but the blue portion still persists.

There are additional options when changing wallpapers in the h2os launcher. I don't think you can entirely get rid of the colour blending at the bottom but you can change the colour and the area it covers. The one exception I have found is the Google wallpapers app, that is full screen.
My notifications don't sync with my android wear. Do you maybe have a fix for this, since this is the only reason I can't use H2os
