I tried a couple of Custom Roms for my P8 lite.
They all seemed to drain the battery so I gave the Mod C432B608 Basic Emui a try.
That works pretty good, no bull****, 2 sims enabled and battery last long enough for me.
But of course it is still a Huawei Rom, so you probably would like another launcher with that.

Did you install it directly? Without installing stock C608 than install basic emui?
Sent from my HUAWEI-P8Lite using Tapatalk

I have tried quite a lot, had B598 Stock, RRRom, LineageOS, B600 Mod, B604 Crossover before... my phone had been unlocked previously and i had TWRP already.
So I can't really remember what exactly was on my Phone reight before, but I didn't install stock rom. I copied the c608 basic Rom on my SD Card, booted into TWRP, did a advanced wipe (everything except SD Card) than installed the rom from card, thats it.. worked like a charme...

I'll give it a try, just for the battery life

It has been Superseeded by B610
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-c432b604-ds-p8-lite-emui-basic-t3652417
unfortunately there is no further update so i switched to the "persona78" mod, which is very
clean as well. Can be founde here in the "P8 lite General" section as well.

I am using cm12.1 it has 3 minor bugs 1. Proximity sensory sometimes gets fastened, causes problem when in calls but it can be disabled 2. 3second of glitch in every new video that's recorded by the default camera app 3. It takes around 1 hour 45 mins to get fully charged, I have not found yet why that's so, when my phone was on miui v6.3.5 it just nearly took 1 hour or so...
I've been flashing Rom's since mid 2012 and this ROM is the most stable yet it's not miui or my rom {FreeFlow OS} (NIG. )
Some guys say that It's only for KK bootloader, If it is the case and you're on any miui version u can
1. Go to official miui forum
2. Get your ROM downloaded in correspondence with your Phone or Processor {whatever}
3. I won't be saying about the process of flashing a miui rom if you are already on miui
4. Download the ROM from the official site { REMEBER I SAID OFFICIAL }
5. Now comes the flashing process 【which every noob knows how to 】
6. I've not flashed Gapps yet cuz I literally don't need it because I've minimized the usage of my phone now a days. But if u want like u can flash but REMEBER that OUR PROCESSOR IS ARM64 bits ... Some guys have the phone but don't even now it ... The process of Flashing GAPPS is simple and it requires no bull**** only if you flash it after flashing the ROM
7. So what are you look down at ... Man u have done everything ... Make accounts start customizing
•IF YOU'RE STUCK SIMEWHERE DO PING ME, I'LL BE REPLYING ASAP
For some guys flashing a ROM requires good luck ... So, Good luck

I have tested CM13, CM14, RR, and others... all with battery drain problems.
I finally found a stable custom rom, without battery drains.
Mokee 60.1 - Android M
http://download.mokeedev.com/?device=wt88047
I am currently on Orion 2.7, had DU installed in past. With Orion (MM) all is good except battery drain issue when using GPS.
If you switch off GPS, no issues.

I am on CM13 20161031 build for a long time now. It is extremely stable and most importantly I am being able to use VoLTE as well. As for battery drains, overnight battery drain is at 1-2%. Using 4G drains battery as usual. Overall, the ROM is smooth and great. Use aroma gapps and you can save a lot of space. I love this one and highly recommend that you flash it. I am even using CyanogenMod recovery to get a complete CM feel to the phone.

Which should be the best (working) ROM for Samsung J5 (SM-J500f)?

I triedAOSP and Lineage OS. But both of them showed the fading and discoloration of the screen during boot, meaning that they were compatible. I am currently downloading the Stock firmware but would like to know whether there are any better ROMs out there than these.
Edit: The stock firmware is giving invalid zip error.

No, read OP, you need Lollypop firmware, just install 5.1 then install this Ron or any time that requires firmware 5.1
You also need recovery compatible with 5.1 like TWRP from Vince (OFFICIAL TWRP) you can download from TWRP site https://twrp.me/devices/j5lte.html
It all depends, if you want to have great camera or you are into taking pictures, never flash AOSP roms, because their camera is a loot worst compared to touchwiz camera (samsungs camera app is optimized like hell)
If you are curious and want to unveil your phone's power I suggest you AOSP/Lineage based ROMs.
Camera isn't enhanced as stock propietary crapwiz one, but works fine. If you love pictures, better you go with a pro Cybershot camera or similar.
I prefer paying the price of freedom and use free software than stay tied to proprietary closed source crapwiz.

Im also pretty keen to know what ROM you guys think is most suitable ? I am currently using stock 5.1.1 rom on J500F, anything better out there ? Would doing a factory reset on stock 5.1.1 and removing bloatware maybe be the best ? Not trying to hijack the thread but as mentioned im also looking for something as stable with less bloatware and better battery life. Thank You !

You can't get better battery life than stock lollipop + hard debloat, period.
Lollipop is the best for me, plus camera sucks on all custom roms
the smoothest rom is XeonHD , and AOSPextended both are extremely optimized except the camera is not that good , if you don't take pics often i suggest that you install either of them
AOSP-CAF based, are the goods. XenonHD is the better Lineage based rom. You have many options to choose one that fits your needs. Camera is fine, I don't complain about that, You should try to choose the better one that fits your needs.

Picture quality is extremely important for me, i am leaning towards stock.
Have you ran into any problems with XenonHD Taivo ? You say the camera is fine, do you mean its not that much worse than with the stock rom but a little bit of a degradation ? Thanx
i didn't run into any problem in xeon an excellent rom , i recommend it

@Ragazzza debloat zip is very nice if you're in stock. XenonHD satisfied me, very nice and smooth ROM. You should give a try to test by yourself. My better pictures I got with my Cybershot camera. Pictures are fine for daily use, and you have Vince's TWRP that works in lollipop and marshmallow, you choose the correct for your device. And from within TWRP you could debloat too, using the embedded explorer or flashing Ragazzza zip or whatever you want even with no root in your system.

Without twrp, better you try that no root debloat you show us before..
And if you follow correctly the steps to flash twrp, dont need to be afraid. Its from twrp that you could flash a debloater zip, for example, even without root...
You can stay with stock debloated, twrp and no root.
Hope you understand.

Which firmware is the best?

Hi. I used a lot of custom roms but the battery life wasnt that good as in stock. Battery life is very important for me unfortunately, so I need a best firmware for p8 lite. I'm currently using emui 4.1 b895 and sometimes is lagging and I can't find some good kernel for this firmware.
Thanks for help
I am using omni Rom, it's fast, smooth and battery life is good, for me better than other roms
I'm not asking about custom ROM, but thanks. Maybe I will try this. Omni have android 6 or 7?

For me dotOS. Pretty nice ui, good battery life also deep sleep is working very nice. Disadvantage is that youtube 60fps is not working (for me, other ppl said that is working with some little lags). As a fan of LOS i have to said that dotOS is one of the best custom rom for p8 lite.

Stable Rom for daily use

Which custom rom is best to use as a daily driver.
I need FM, Gcam and good battery backup.

Totally agree : i've always flashed my phone by the past (7 years now, 6 phones, around 100 flashes), but now that i've found a pure android phone, nothing more, nothing less, i don't feel the need to flash a new rom. The only thing i've added is the (fabulous) Gcam.
I think we're are numerous to think that way : i don't say that you should not flash or try something else of course, but in my opinion, an Android One version is a really good and stable device.

Currently I'm using Hassan Mirzas OmniROM (Omni-7.1.2-20180131-hi6250-HOMEMADE) for everyday use. Because I'm satisfied, I haven't tried newer ROMs.
I find Elite rom to be the most stable room, been using it for almost 3 months now and so far so good.
