Hi, I apologize if this has been answered but i cannot find an answer anywhere. I have droid turbo 2 by verizon and want to root. I asked verizon, they told me google would have to give me the code, google tellls me motorola will have to give me the code, and motorola tells me they will send me a link in 1-2 hours about unlocking the bootloader, but that Verizon will probably have to unlock it. So what does that mean? Who locked my phone? Who do I contact, besides a third-party, to get my code?
Hi you are in the original Droid Turbo forum. There is a separate forum for the Droid Turbo 2. Try searching there, keywords unlock bootloader, etc. Good luck hope you find an answer.

I currently use a Samsung phone that does not have a locked bootloader. I've read that Motorola is one of the manufacturers that likes to ship their phones with a lock bootloader, and this prevents people from flashing/hacking/rooting their phone.
How big of an issue is this? Are there reliable and straightforward way to bypass a locked bootloader? If I were to get a Droid 4 next year which comes with a locked bootloader, will I still be able to flash it with custom ROM and root it?
Hi,
There are way too many threads discussing this, both in the general section and individual motorola threads.
Please search
I don't have a Developer Edition yet I would like to unlock the bootloader. I want to root this thing but I don't know how to unlock the bootloader. Any help?
If you haven't noticed already, I have a Droid Maxx 2.
Also if possible I would like to keep my Verizon service please. The unlock code will not work because Verizon apparently won't allow it, so is there a way to unlock the bootloader?
I will get together with some of my friends from work and well take a look at this Devices security. Usually these new droids are TZ protected and I have the droid Maxx but I just purchased this device. I'm sure it won't be as tough as the Droid Maxx to Root or find a vulnerability in the security to unlock its bootloader. Do you know if it has trust zone security?
Motorola website says "your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking." I assume Verizon, right?
I have the xt1607 model and I'm not able to unlock my bootloader. Can someone help me figure this out. This is beyond frustrating when other people are able to do it with ease.
I was having issues as well.. problem with Motorola site.
Are you doing it right? You need to get an unlock code from Motorola website..
Is there another way to unlock the boatloader on a Moto Z Force (Verizon)? I went to Motorola's site and I got the response that my device isn't eligible and I can't get a code to unlock. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Nope, and a quick search would have told you so. Verizon branded Moto devices are notoriously hard to unlock. There is no official way, and no unofficial way that I am aware of.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/how-to/moto-z-droid-bootloader-unlock-code-t3514832 for the brave (or stupid). Some guy wanted to lead us on saying it was doable. Your choice if you believe him and want to try.
Hello - I have a Moto E4 Sprint variation XT1766. I'm looking to network/sim unlock somehow to use with Verizon. Are there any options out there? I read somewhere that maybe flashing a custom rom would allow all domestic services to be used. If so, is there a stock-ish firmware with this allowed, or what is the closest to stock firmware that would allow me to do this? My phone is bootloader unlocked and rooted.
Also, I see websites selling services to unlock remotely. I found one that will do it for $9 and "permanently" unlock it even after reset/updates. Thoughts?
Thanks!

You can't do it with a custom ROM anymore. They locked it.
The official way is to satisfy the carriers terms for unlock. For example, if it's a boost device, I think you have to use it on their network for 60 days (might be a different number of days now) and then simply request it unlocked. The same for Sprint. It should be that way for all xt1766 carriers. They have unlock it if you satisfy their criteria.
I have never used any of those unlock services so I can't say anything useful about them.
