Posted this in the S7 forum too but posting here as it relates to the S8 charger. The answer here probably isn't complicated, but the question is, hopefully I'll explain it right:
I've just bought an S7 Edge. My current wireless charger is the OEM samsung pad type for the S6 so pretty slow. Therefore I'm going to upgrade to either the OEM S7 fast wireless charger stand, or the OEM S8 fast wireless charger stand. The S7 one is cheaper and charges just as fast, however the S8 one has a USB-C connection, which could swing it for me depending on the answer to the following question:
Can I use the USB-C charger from my Acer R13 Chromebook and just plug it into the S8 pad/stand? Assuming I can will it fast charge (well, as fast as wireless can) or will only the adaptive OEM plug do that?
Thanks in advance

Thanks. What's the reason? And will the R13 charger work regardless of capability to fast charge?

Would using the fast charger on a normal/mini wireless charging pad like the one here make it a fast charge wireless charger?

No, the Samsung regular wireless charger actually comes with the Fast Charge plug. It still does not Fast Charge wirelessly though.
I ordered this wireless charger for 12.99 but I dont have the s7 edge yet since it hasnt shipped but it works on my s6 edge plus fast charging enabled

plus the charger I got too so it can match the wireless

works great

Thanks guys appreciate the respons
I was told by a tmobile rep, that the old Samsung wireless charger, the $50 one, does fast charge, it "just depends on if the phone can do it"
There have been some initial reports of a "wireless charging paused" problem when attempting to "fast" wireless charge with certain chargers. I have experienced this myself, researched it, did some testing, and have some thoughts I think would be helpful to share. The YT link illustrates the problem: youtu.be/IkR3H1Tnlp0
tl;dr The S8/+ only "fast" wireless charges with an OEM Samsung charger. Third-party and knockoff "fast" wireless chargers will experience the "paused" issue. They can work as standard wireless chargers but must be paired with a power adapter that forces it (non Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger and no QC 2.0+ power adapters, etc.) Previous generation Samsungs, such as the S7/Edge and Note7 (R.I.P.), do not have this limitation.
The person in the YT video must have had a knockoff (one good indicator is the hard plastic "lip" on the stand should instead be a rubberized material). I have two knockoffs myself and my results are the same. I also have a third-party Choetech and both of the previous OEM versions; pad and stand. I do not have the new convertible stand.
The long version:
Before I start, please note that I make a clear distinction between a wireless charger and a power adapter. I refer to a wireless charger as the device which contains the inductive coils on which a smartphone rests upon for wireless charging. A power adapter is the device that plugs into a wall outlet and has a USB Type A port to supply the wireless charger with power via a USB cable (typically a USB Type A to micro USB cable). Basic stuff, I realize.
Initial reports from around the web, in particular the above YT video, pointed me in the right direction. According to my own testing and conclusions, the problem isn't the wireless charger or the power adapter but rather a seemingly intentional block placed by Samsung when attempting to use Samsung's "fast" wireless charging method on the new S8/+ with third-party or knockoff "fast" wireless chargers.
As you may know, the "fast" wireless charging method is a non-standard, proprietary Samsung technology, which is said to be compatible with standard Qi wireless charging. I have concluded that, apparently, the new S8/+ can now detect if a "fast" wireless charger is OEM or not. If it is not, you will experience the "paused" behavior when attempting to "fast" wireless charge an S8/+. However, standard wireless charging works fine on the few non-OEM "fast" wireless chargers I tested.
While you cannot select between the "fast" or standard wireless charging method by way of the wireless chargers themselves (or any that I've seen at least), you can force the wireless charging method based on the power adapter you pair the "fast" wireless charger with. Aha!
If you're like most who purchased a third-party "fast" wireless charger to use with a previous generation Samsung Galaxy, you may remember the fun of having to pair it up with the right kind of power adapter that would enable "fast" wireless charging, such as a QC 2.0+ power adapter. Using the "wrong" kind of power adapter should force a "fast" wireless charger to use standard wireless charging and then the S8/+ will no longer experience the "paused" problem. Obviously, this means the S8/+ will wirelessly charge at the standard rate.
I tested and was able to successfully "fast" wirelessly charge my S8+ with an OEM Samsung Fast Wireless Charging Pad (flat, lay down style) model EP-PN920, which is the first iteration of a "fast" wireless charger from Samsung. I was also able to successfully "fast" wirelessly charge with the next iteration wireless charger, the Samsung Fast Wireless Charging Stand (stand up style) model EP-PN930. Both were paired with a basic OEM Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger USB power adapter. I also tested the above wireless chargers paired with an AUKEY Quick Charge 2.0 Wall Charger power adapter model PA-U28 (5V/2.4A) and was able to successfully "fast" wireless charge my S8+ on the OEM Samsung wireless chargers.
I also tested a Choetech Fast Wireless Charger model T518. When paired with a power adapter that enables "fast" wireless charging, I experienced the "paused" behavior on my S8+. When paired with a power adapter that forced standard wireless charging, my S8+ was able to wirelessly charge at the standard rate without issue. This was the same result with two China knockoffs of the OEM stands (one good indicator is the hard plastic "lip" on the stand should instead be a rubberized material).
My reasoning behind this block being seemingly intentionally placed by Samsung seems pretty clear based on the above results. I think the "paused" behavior may not be intentional, however. It could also simply be a mishap with just a certain batch and Samsung may address the issue in the future. Here's to hoping, but don't hold your breath.
Suffice it to say, this is only my experience and yours might be different. Please do feel free to comment on your own experiences. I think it can be helpful to get additional perspective on the topic. Thank you.
My two chargers have the exact same Serialnumber like yours.
I have the prbolem with one of them. But this one had the problem also sometimes with the S7.
I bought them online for about 13 Euro each.
I am betting samsung is so paranoid about battery splosions they have decided to not allow fast wireless on chargers with no fans built in. Since they are the only ones with fans, they block everyone else.

Not EVERY charger without a fan is blocked...
I just bought an Anker fast charging plate and am pleased to say it works fine with fast charging. I already had two Samsung Fast Charge units which worked with my S7 but refused to go into fast charge mode with the S8. I also tried an Aukey model (with fan) which worked for 30 seconds then stopped. The Anker plate is low-profile, has no fan and LED lights which turn off after a few seconds once fast charging has started. The Anker was from Amazon and can be found here.
Which Aukey Charger with fan was that do you have a link?
This one. and it doesn't work. The Anker is fine.
I am having just hte opposite problem. My Samsung branded fast wireless charger with the Samsung Adaptive Fast charger that came with a previous phone (S7 Edge) has this issue, but no-name fast chargers with other brand QC2 power supplies work correctly. I can get normal speed charging on the Samsung with a generic 2amp power supply. I don't think mine is a counterfeit charger. If it is, it is very very good copy.

Now that I think about it..... It also surprisingly didn't work on my S7 Edge if I had it in a case except for one very slim case, where my old Nokia charging pad and a no-name fast charger did work. I bet I did get snookered. It was from one of those daily flash sale sites (Yugster) and the price was surprisingly low....
What have you paid? Which charger model and what are the last digits of your serial number?

How long have you had it? I have that exact same charger and it no longer fast-charges (or charges at all). It now charges for about 10-15 seconds, then the light starts blinking white and it stops charging altogether! It's infuriating.
Edit: but it DID fast-charge properly for the first 4 days or so.
The Aukey one just blinked white after successfully charging for 20 seconds or so. It was useless. I now have a couple of Anker fast charging mats and they both work fine.
I returned the Choetech since I was getting the charging paused problem. Went with the Pleson and it seems to work great with my S8+.

Wish it were USB C though.
There seems to be only (1) USB C fast wireless charger on Amazon and it is $10 more expensive than the Pleson. Not worth it for me.

Why? Does it matter how a wireless charging plate connects to its charger? Once connected that's it - and they come with a cable.

Maybe if he wants to charge his phone faster he can unplug the cable from the wireless charger and plug it directly into the phone - but that would need a USB-C connector on the wireless charger...

I know it doesn't matter.. but USB C is more convenient for the times I will move my charging plate. Also, if need be, I can quickly unplug the USB C cable from the plate and plug it directly into the phone if I want quicker charging.

Ah, OK, that makes sense!
I have the same issue. I had 6 Fast Wireless Chargers from various brands that I used with my S7 Edge and all worked great. Now that I have the S8+ only one of them works. Why that one - I have no idea. But the other 5 do not work regardless of charging adapter or cord I use.
The standard (non-fast) wireless chargers seem to work fine as mentioned as well as using these fast wireless chargers in "non-fast" mode by using a non-QC adapter. It's very frustrating to invest in tech and expect to be able to continue to use it. I had a fast wireless charger in the cup holder in my car so I could just drop my phone in there and it would fall against it and start fast wireless charging, but it is one of the 5 that do not work with my new phone.
OK so the answer here probably isn't complicated, but the question is, hopefully I'll explain it right:
I've just bought an S7 Edge. My current wireless charger is the OEM samsung pad type for the S6 so pretty slow. Therefore I'm going to upgrade to either the OEM S7 fast wireless charger stand, or the OEM S8 fast wireless charger stand. Err depends, as they're both usb-c I'd say yes. Check the s8 wireless charging pad's specifications (wattage, amperage etc) and see if they match with your laptops usb-c port specs. If they match (I believe higher amp = faster charging) then I'd say fast charging should work.
Hey guys, one of my co-workers has a S8 (Cricket). He just noticed that under his settings in the battery section, there is no toggle to enable Fast Wireless Charging under the Advanced options.
I've been searching here as well as in Google for any answers. I've seen a thread or two randomly on other forums, one was a VZW customer who apparently found from their customer service, that there was a known issue on some devices and the fast wireless charging option was removed. Not sure if this was in a series of production, maybe earlier production devices? That specific thread was from the beginning of Dec 2017.
I've really found no concrete answers, and actually don't get anything when I search that is specific to Cricket Devices. I've got an ATT S8+, and I have the option and actually use fast wireless charging every night.
Hoping someone knows a way to force it back, or if this is something to be fixed by Samsung?
***EDIT - I just realized that my boss doesn't have fast wireless charging either, she hasn't been able to use the fast charger we got her for Christmas. She has a Vzw S8+.
TIA
It's available after first use with a fast wireless charger. Just put it on the charger and it will be there. Hope this helps.

We put it on a known working fast wireless charger, no dice. It was actually tried for a short period (30 minutes) and then completely charged on a fast wireless charger overnight. Option still isn't there, nor did it fast charge ever while on the charger.
Anyone else have a suggestion?
Use proper Fast Wireless Charger, like Samsung one. Also with proper strong charger connected to wireless charger...

Yes that's correct
You need a fast wireless charger which is plugged in with a fast or quickcharge adaptor otherwise it won't work

Which one?
On mine it's just a matter of whether or not it's plugged into a fast charging brick. If I want slow charge, I use a charger other than the one that came with the phone. Works on my Verizon S8+ no problem

Choetech, using a fast charging brick and cable from a Samsung S7. Works fine for my ATT dev, have tested with another ATT dev (Note 8) and it worked fine on it as well.
I use the following. Cheap and cheerful. Plus all of them are fast.

It's Not the Charger, block/travel plug or lead.
I am, and always have been a loyal Samsung user since the (slide up) D500 which I still have btw.
Had every other S model as my provider contract is over 18 months so tend to miss a model. S4, S6 now on S8+ and had charger port issues with them all. So Samsung changed the port, and lead to one that even an idiot like me can plug in whilst driving in the dark without breaking it. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when my S8 stopped fast charging. As the title states, I have only ever used the charger and lead supplied with the handset and after past issues am ULTRA carefull when charging.
So I bought a Samsung (EP-PG9201) wireless fast charger. Using S8's f/charger block + lead from my S6 placed S8 on it and yeah, it charges but no fast charge? Followed all the settings advice but no Accessories option in Advanced Features, Device Maintenance, Battery, Advanced Settings but no wireless charge option (fast or otherwise) Yet prior to my purchase I checked these settings to see if S8 was compatable and the wireless option was there but greyed out but now it's gone!?!
Soz for the waffle but IT'S WOUND ME UP 100% Any help or advice that doesn't include charger, block, lead, settings, phone case or software updates would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance guys
Blacksnake
It works..!!!
Thank you... It actually works.

Fast charging comes from the wall adapter as well question is: Are you using the original wall adapter? If no fast charge did you try different wall adapter?
Also have you tried wireless charging to see if fast charge works? If it does then maybe something is wrong with your usb type C port on your phone Dirt or lint inside?
Test all these let us know what you find out
