Stock ROM with MoStock kernel is good. Try it.
However, if you want a little lightweight ROM, you might want to try @ED300's CyanogenMod 11.
You might also like ED300's CyanogenMod 12.1 as well. However, the latest updates, I find, are a little slow on my phone.
You can also flash MoStock on said CM11, but I haven't tried it, as you have to repackage some modules for WiFi & such.
I personally am on CM11 update 11 (with no special kernel) right now.

CyanogenMod 11 is a KitKat based ROM as far as I know and currently I am on RR 5.8.4 64-bit nougat ROM . Can you please tell does it require a specific procedure to flash from Android N to K or is it okay to flash normally like wipe > adv wipe > cache , dalvik , system / flash ROM , gapps , reboot.

Reverting to KitKat from Android 5.1+ (Lollipop, Marshmallow & Nougat) requires you to flash stock KitKat ROM.
Or you can try this firmware: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...itkat-lolipop-firmware-base-switcher-t3249046
Though I haven't tested this myself, I believe it will work fine.
---------- Post added at 07:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:04 AM ----------
Since you are on Nougat:
- Download KitKat firmware.
- Wipe dalvik, cache, data, system (don't wipe internal).
- Flash KitKat firmware & then flash the CM11 ROM over it.
If you choose to flash Stock KitKat ROM, do the normal flash:
- Wipe cache, data, system, dalvik & then flash Stock KitKat ROM.
Doing the latter (flashing KitKat ROM) will bring your device to the state of first, out-of-the-box, fresh boot.
What this means is that you'll have to start all over again (i.e flash recovery again).

go for official lineage by harsh
have been using it for one month or so , its flawless and works without lag

RR 7.1 May 9 build. try this. smooth for my lenovo 1gb.

[Q] SM-9005 Kernel Issue

Dear All,
My Device Currently running on
Android 4.4.4 Custom ROM CM11 snapshop M8.
I've tried to flash the kernel to lean kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2488082
However, after i flash the kernel the screen went black after Samsung logo screen.
Is there any thing i miss out doing?
I wipe cache and dalqiv cache before I flash the kernel.
Any enlighten would be great. Sorry to post here as I couldnt google any relevant information to aid me.
Thanks in advance

Try downloading leanKernel 3.1 AOSP version.
Usually because lean and temasek updates very often due to commit changes, their newer kernels usually break older versions of CM by showing a black screen after you see SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 3.
The old(er) kernels will work for sure, don't use the latest update. If a previous update doesn't work, move back a step.

Confused

So when I install a rom like SlimKat I need to have installed a TWRP recovery with F2FS and repartition it, too?
But then. When I have SlimKat (I think this seems to be a good rom but I let anyone join in to say what would be better) there are no gapps in it and here there seems to be Dalvik or ART Gapps on which ART would be better. SO where do I get ART Gapps for SlimKat (or other recommend roms)?
Gapps don't depend on art or dalvik. Any Gapps made for the Android version of the rom is all you need.
And no repartitioning is needed to install a rom. ?
Could you explain to me if f2fs is needed somehow (eg. makes the device faster etc.) or should I stay on the latest original rom from google until Version "L" comes out?
There is something I have read about new kernels in older roms is this needed for some things?
Custom kernels are never "needed"... Usually.
And sorry, I know nothing of f2fs.
?

Regarding installing AK Kernel

I have installed the AK Kernel but then the change in battery life isn't great and the phone lags like anything. Even during simple tasks like WhatsApp.
I did the following :
Flash Stock kernel
Install AK kernel
Installed Synapse
I need to know whether I am supposed to compulsorily flash the Oxygen Rom 2.1?
If yes then what is the meaning of Dirty flash ?
Do I have to flash the Rom and the update as mentioned in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/oxygenos-2-1-1-discussions-download-t3225296
Waiting for your help!!

Hallo,
first I want to say that I really love this kernel, @ak
question: I updated the last 4-5 versions via ak updater. But already in version 18 you said one should dirtyflash rom before. I want to rectify this now.
But I never flashed a rom. (Got op2 -> updated to 2.1.1 -> root).
Now should I flash following zip? Oxygen OS 2.1.1: OnePlus2Oxygen_14_OTA_009_all_1510112055.zip (from "[ROM][OTA][Oxygen OS] Mirrors for official Oxygen OS ROMs and OTA updates")
Like this?
1. wipe dalvic/caches/system
2. flash Oxygen zip
3. flash ak.zip
4. wipe dalvic/cache
Or am I wrong?
Cheers from Germany

tried to install 9505 rom on my 515 one- touchscreen isnt responding

hi there!
i recently looked for some roms for my 9515 phone
unfourtunantly, i read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/galaxy-s4-value-edition-gt-i9515-t3190176
that there are no roms for this device..
so i found another thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/kernel-s4-value-edition-i9515-t3031044
which told me to download kernels, modems and other things in order 9505 roms to work.
tried it- but with no sucess.
BTW i tried to use this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-albe95-lollirom-official-1-0-t3049564
any help will be appriciated- THANX SO MUCH
ps- sorry for my english..
psII- i know that this is the forum for the 9500 and 9505 only, but i couldnt find any forum for the 9515.
psIII- i can use the phone only through PC- im using MyPhoneExplorer to mirror and control my phone.
Are you flashing a kernel right after flashing the ROM?

yes..
is that a prob?
edit: if i will flash stock, than kernel, and then rom- will it work?
Make sure the phone is running the latest bootloader and modem. Once that has been confirmed, perform a complete system wipe (system, cache, data) before flashing ROM, flash the ROM, and flash the kernel. Don't boot the phone out of recovery until after flashing the kernel.

thanks so muchhhhh u saved my asss
how do i check my bootloader & modem version?
I suggest flashing a stock ROM from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9515/
Once that is done, you can flash TWRP from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/galaxy-s4-value-edition-gt-i9515-t3190176
With TWRP, you can create a nandroid backup. If you flash a ROM that doesn't work properly, boot into TWRP and restore your nandroid backup and start over.
Sometimes, you may fine a ROM that will work without further modification. If not, a custom kernel may be required.
What are you talking about? The first link you posted linked to various rom threads for the I9515.
There is unofficial CM13 for the I9515, also known as jflteve.
There also was an unofficial SlimLP..
Unofficial CM13
Unofficial CM12.1
Unofficial SlimLP
As you can see, there are some roms. No need to mess around with patchers. Unless you really want touchwhiz..

Nougat Custom ROM (AOSP based and GtrCraft builds preferred) users, please come here!

Hey guys! I'm trying to understand on which stock ROM you have flashed a Nougat custom ROM.
Personally, I'm on the latest RETEU 6.0.1 MPDS24.107-52-5 + January security patch (I don't remember, maybe 107-70) and I run AospExtended 4.3 with Optimus kernel r21.
So... what's your base firmware? Is it all ok?
I am using the combination you read in my signature. I have to disable HW overlays after every restart in order to have full screen video and stock camera working right. Except those, the device is faster and i love it.

And what is the stock ROM you have on the base?
Hm, didn't notice that part of your question from my tablet. If it may be of any help, i was using stock mm 6.0.1 but i erased system, data, cache and dalvik (clean installation) prior flasing the AOSiP 6.0.

The latest? And which version? European, Asian...
This one: XT1562_LUX_RETASIA_DS_6.0.1_MPDS24.107-52-5_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC (which i used to convert it from single sim to dual sim). There is also a newer one, you can find it here.
